Warp Charging using 7T Charger - OnePlus 8T Guides, News, & Discussion

Here's a random observation I've noticed: I have a 8T that I bought so that my parent can take my 7T. I'm using the 7T charger because I'm waiting for a 6ft warp charge capable cable to arrive from Amazon. Using the 7T charger and a 6ft warp charge cable, the 8T charges at around 360 mA as shown by Ampere. It's crazy because the icon at the top right and the lockscreen shows the warp charge lightning logo but it's charging at a snails pace. You'd think that the 30W 7T charging block could at least charge the 8T at a slower warp charge speed but for some reason it's charging far below capability, almost like charging from a laptop port. In comparison, the 8T block using the stock cable charges around 2230 mA.

Pixel 2 charger

Hey everyone, I was wondering if the pixel 2 charger quick charges the device as fast as the stock charger
The pixel 2 charger bumps up to 9v 2a but does the phone recognise that and charge at 9v since it's not Samsung's quickcharge it's USB-PD? The s8 active charger I have is rated 9v 1.67a?
Both seem to charge pretty quick but which would the the fastest?

Fast charge via a non OP charger?

This is not a specific OP8P question but as it has warp charge it applies.
So warp charge requires the original OP charger brick but what if I was to use Huawei fast charger for example. Would it be compatible and charge at a faster rate? Is there any cross comparability between manufacturers fast charging offerings and I'd not is this something that could potentially be unlocked with a custom firmware?
Sometimes I use my gf's 24W charger of her Huawei laptop. It charges fast, but not like using Warp charger.

Charging Oneplus with QC 4.0 or any other standard apart WARP

If I charge Oneplus 8 pro with lets say Car Charger with supported standards PD 3.0/QC 4.0/ QC 3.0/ AFC , is there a downside? Or just slow charging speed?
And, is there a downside if I need to charge my phone at work for example to take notebook USB Type C charger and plug in... (again apart of slow charge)

The rate of charge just be slower, otherwise no problems, no.
I just got the 8 pro yesterday, IN2025. From what I've read and i just tested your charging speed will be better w/ PD as the phone does not support QC anything and just treats as it regular charging.
I tested the charging at ~70%.
USB PD, 4.2V/1.8A - 2A
QC 3.0 4.2V/1..2A
Warp Charging, 4.2V/4.8A
Warp with regular cable, 4.2V/1.2A
Regular charging 4.2V/1.2A
Hope that helps
okay so my previous phone was a PD 3.0, I have a bunch of charger that are 3.0 which support up to 65W. What would it do with the OnePlus 8 Pro. will it be limited to 35W or will it go higher?
Always limited by the phone max specs.
so in that case I should still get the 30W from a PD 3.0 charger to the OnePlus 8 Pro?
Cause I don't want to spend $50 for a Warp Charge Car adapter specially if my PD 3.0 charger can provide the same amount of wattage

No, you will not get 30W from your PD charger, it will max out at 15W.
OnePlus only supports PD at 5V, likely because Dash charge only uses 5V. PD caps out at 3A for 5V, so 15W. PD achieves higher wattages by increasing the voltage rather than increasing the amperage like Dash Charge (hence why PD cables are generally thinner than Dash charge ones).

So in your case all chargers give less than required charging voltage?! AFAIK, only dash/vooc charges at battaries max voltage. others supply 5v. check your data

Poor Charging Speeds - Wired and Wireless

Hi folks,
I've been analysing my standard charging speeds since getting the OnePlus 8 Pro a few days ago and so far I have been very disappointed.
Phone: OnePlus 8 Pro IN2023
Build: Oxygen OS 11.0.1.1.IN11BA
Battery App: Battery Charging Monitor Pro
After some basic observations when compared with my last phone (Hauwei P30 Pro), I am getting the following charging speeds. Bear in mind the batter levels for both phones are around 70-80%
Anker 10W Wireless Qi Charger - Average Charging Speeds
OnePlus 8 Pro - 500-600 mA
Huawei P30 Pro - 1000-1100 mA
Samsung Wireless Car Charger (Sorry, not sure of the exact model)
OnePlus 8 Pro - 400-500 mA
Huawei P30 Pro - 850-950 mA
Anker 30W 4-port charger / RavPower 30W 3-port charger / Aukey 60W 5-port charger
OnePlus 8 Pro - 950-1050 mA
Huawei P30 Pro - 1600-1800 mA
Xiaomi 20,000 mA Power Bankr
OnePlus 8 Pro - 900-1000 mA
Huawei P30 Pro - 2200-2400 mA
You can see that on each of these tests that the P30 Pro is significantly faster. I don't know what the issue is. but these speeds are really poor. Is there a specific charging speed that the OP 8 Pro requires? Yes, I know the solution is the Warp charger which I haven't used yet. but I only plan to use that when I need a really fast charge and obviously it will only be from the one location. Appreciate any info you can provide. Thank you!
This is apples and oranges buddy.
How quick is the warp charger Vs Huaweis offering?
That's the only comparison there should be.
Depends on the device and what current it'll allow.
Theres very few chargers that can keep up with a warp charge.
Think you need to use your oem Warp Charging cable for best scenario..

Defo, also my Apple mac Pro (30.watt I think) charger charged nearly as fast as the warp.. Been using it and they phone doesn't go over 38c
Thanks for the replies folks. I've been found a little more experimenting. My UK Wall charger finally arrived and yes, it is far and away the fastest, charging up till 6000 mAh which is great.
It seems the only other decent charging method is via USB Power Delivery. My laptop will charge at around 2000 mAh and my work laptop 65w charger at around 3000 mAh. Both of these I'm quite happy with.
It's just a little slow when using a half decent third part USB charger. I would expect to be a fair bit faster than 1000 mAh which isn't that great. Certainly not a deal breaker.
The Warp charge is excellent!
Thanks all.

Warp Charging compatibility?

So like I would like to get a Anker Power Brick that has 4 ports total one being a 30W Power Delivery Port and others being USB-A ports.
If I buy a cable that can support 65W Warp Charging for the 8T, will it support 30W Warp Charging for the 8 Pro?
Is there any alternatives to fast charging like this?
I have some people telling me it will charge slowly and some people telling me it will charge at 15W which has confused me.
Thanks!
~ Infinity
