I'd say if possible android 8.0 or android 8.1 would be nice considering the features it has

A Android oreo go edition rom for this tablet would be the best. I also recommend it and let's just sweep all Android Nougat roms under the rug and pretend they never existed.

Yeah I agree, Whenever I have tried Nougat roms there are just countless of issues. Hope to see a 8.0 ROM some day!

Custom ROMs for A3?

Are there any custom ROMs for Samsung Galaxy A3.
Is there AT LEAST anyone trying to make one.
I can't even believe such devices don't have such developers and support
There isn't any custom ROM yet, but we have a deodex for our device. You can get it here:

Will there ever be any custom ROM for galaxy A3? Because, Samsung will probably not release any more updates for this phone. No development on 5.1.1 yet. Only way to get gl higher android versions is to make Custom ROM.

I THINK i might be able to make one by porting CM12.1 for example from other device similar to ours and i have been researching and found out that Motorola Moto E is almost very similar to A3.
So i might actually try porting it and i hope it's easy as it looks in the tutorial.
Motorola Moto E is left and A3 is right

Don't worry about time my friend, take as much as you need. I would give it a shot but working so much iIhave barely any time and hard drive space for the sdk etc. Good things come to those who wait!
Do you know if flashing a custom or stock rom into an A3 using ODIN will void the Knox? surelly yes, right?

Yes, these two devices share same processor. Also keep in mind, a custom ROM is already under development for A5. Maybe, we could try and port that on A3?

That ROM is still in beta status with bugs so it is not a good idea to port that to A3.
I think it's better to wait for the new cyanogenmod version(marshmallow) to release first.
Then someone to build it for our device.
Maybe I will try to build for A3 but right now I'm busy with college stuff.

Knox is in the bootloader, right? If you flash any stuff not signed by Samsung the Knox will be tripped.
Hey guys I have good news for A3 users (not custom ROM, unfortunately)
I'm currently porting AOSP theme to our systemui.apk settings.apk and etc (notification panel, transparent recent, status bar, etc) it should be ready by this weekend if the original dev permits me of distributing it.

Unfortunately, I think same was said for Lollipop. The device is already almost one year old. If we don't do it now, it will be completely forgotten. It won't be easy to port Marshmallow if we are not familiar to porting Lollipop. I think we better start with Lollipop even if it contains bugs.

The difficulty would still be the same be it lollipop or marshmallow. It would still be completely different even if the custom ROM in trying to build is lollipop because Samsung uses TouchWiz ROMs which is very different from AOSP (cyanogen, blisspop, noname, etc)
BTW the bugs aren't within the Cyanogen version itself but the build was faulty. So it's futile to port a faulty build. Plus you have to modify a tonne of stuff in order to port the CM12.1 ROM. Even porting the A500F CM12.1 ROM to other variants of A5 causes massive headaches.
Trust me I have experience.
I'm pretty sure one day someone will develop for us, if not then it'll be me, but I'm too busy with college now D: and I have a computer too crappy to build ROMs. So that sucks :/
Can I actually root the lollipop version of A3? I need the system files but can't do without root
Yes, you can.

Oxygen os vs CM12.1

Just bought my 1+2. Currently using 1+1 and thinking if it's better to use cm12.1 rather than oxygen os. How different are these 2 roms? Coming from 1+1,im more inclined to cm12. Please advise.

there is lots of complaints about Oxygen Os in chinese forums. Actually Op didn't have much time to do the test before release the official (or stable) build, because it should be preinstalled on the Oneplus 2. That is to say, so far, there is not much difference between official and preview...

Sure, but that doesn't mean it's less suitable for the phone?
What OS is currently working better on the OP2?
OXYGEN OS until Official CM 12.1 here as well. CM is THE reason why I bought 1+1 in the first place.
I am using Unofficial CM 12.1 on my OPT and it works fine.
Missing fingerprint yeah, and there are several bugs like LED notif, home button response for waking up the phonem double screen tap, little network errors etc, but it's so faster than Oxygen ... It's a great OS but not mature enough. CM is mature.
I hope bugs will be fixed soon and it will be perfect.

this is also another Os named Hydrogen Os for chinese Users...
But neither of these is considered feature-complete.
So my personal opinion is to keep waiting...
Seeing there is no fingerprint support in unofficial cm, I shall use oxygen for the meantime

Marhsmallow update very slow J500FN

It's incredible, J500FN variants users waited a lot of months for a MM update that is very slow. The ram managament is awful (always 50+%) and it isn't smooth. The animations and the features are amazing, but it doesn't seem an official update. I can keep open like one app at time! If i open 2 apps together it crashes. Is this my impression or do you agree with me?

This is a joke, right? If you want to test the new updates as soon as they're released, you should buy a Pixel phone.
Ofcourse I am joking
Was waiting for this question since yesterday evening https://www.xda-developers.com/android-p-developer-preview-1-google-pixel-xl-pixel-2-xl/ with all the problems on actual Oreo build for g4 it doesn't make sense for the next step when Motorola doesn't release drivers... There's less functionality than Oreo imo.
It's like in former days booting android on windows mobile I used: it boots. That's it. Nothing was working.
Oh, and I don't think they pushed the source right now.
Just my 2 cents...
