The F2 Pro is NOT the true F1 Pro successor! - Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro (Redmi K30 Pro) Guides, News, &

"The Poco F1 was a device that changed the market and consumers expect the same from the successor. The Poco F2 Pro isn’t that device. We are working to bring a true successor to the Poco F1 but it will take time for us to develop it."
Quote from Poco country director (India) Anuj Sharma.

I don't know why the F2 Pro is getting so less love. For me it is the perfect device right now.
What do you think ?

I also think so

If you are happy with the device than don't give a s... to that director or whatever mate. Just he tries to get attention to the device ?

You are absolutely right! But "news" like this will sadly effect the rom / dev community negatively.
I know the community is starting slowly but I would love to see as much dev work like the F1 Pro has / had.

Only bad thing about this device is to many Google apps, especially those who replaced original miui ones like contacts and sms app.
Cameras, processor, battery life and screen are more than excellent.

You're right.

I've did multiple comparisons among the Poco F2 Pro, Mi 10T Pro, OnePlus 8T and a few others in the price and spec range.
And from a specifications perspective, I'm getting what I want with the 8/256 version of Poco F2 Pro.
And I'm happy with that choice but when looking for reviews, man I saw so many people sharing their content with their F2 Pro purchase and then followed by a slew of others that just blasted them for various reasons. I think the best was when one commenter went on about 12GB RAM not being available on the F2 Pro but you could get it on the OnePlus 8T. At the same time he had no knowledge whatsover of the benefits of 8GB LPDDR5 vs 12GB LPDDR4.
Like goddamit man, just let people enjoy things.
Additionally, I think the F2 Pro should be considered as the F1's ssuccessor simply because they named it as such and knew very well what they were doing from a marketing perspective.
I mean, let's be honest, what are they gonna call the so called true successor?
POCO F1 2021?
POCO F2 Reloaded?
POCO F2 PRO SUPER PREMIUM ULTIMATE COMMEMORATIVE EDITION CYBERPUNK 2077?

Who cares? It blows the F1 out of the water in every way. For the £300 I paid for the 8/256 version it's a better bargain than the Poco F1 ever was.

@jason88fr
thanks for your opinion! I highly agree with all of your points. Some times the android community is very toxic (sadly). But it is useless to argue with those people since they just want to disagree.
But I am very happy with the development of the F2 Pro community. Many awesome ROMs are now available and more is coming!

Disagree,
Got my F2 Pro from MI UK for £279 with a Mi Band 5 and TWS, just waiting for bugs to be ironed out in roms and should be a decent upgrade from 9T Pro, currently MIUI 12 is far better on this phone than Raphael builds

Less love cause people want a flagship with the price of a low-end product (200€ maximum)
Don't forget the Covid-19, people need to use their money for more important things...
Poco F2 Pro just didnt release a the right (good) time.

Watch the "real" one have a 765G or the next mid-tier, worse than an 855, chip. I think they got the specs-for-price right here. If only they didn't mess up the device trees.

[DISCUSSION] Camera picture quality of Redmi Note 3 SE "Kate"

In my opinion the camera picture or photo quality of Redmi Note 3 SE Kate is very bad.
Some are telling to unlock Camera2 API - I think Xiaomi devs should put some more effort into the stock camera.
Confirm at the linked thread to maybe get some attention by the dev team. Maybe nothing will happen, but who knows.

It's not really bad dude. Try to use all of its hardware ability. For me there are no bad camera, just that we haven't use all of its power
At first i though that the picture quality sucked in comparisom with my previous Moto X Play. I think the pictures are very good and some other just bad. The same can be same about any smartphone pictures.

Thanks. Maybe I'll try this, but it's a big issue that Xiaomi does not fix this. They are supposed to.
That's why I once again say screw Xiaomi and their bulls***. Bringing new devices every week, giving a big show for the mitu
brainwashed fanboys but behind the scenes they don't give a s*** about their customers. The RMN3 SE is indeed the last Xiaomi device I bought.

Mitu fanboys? Lol
Where I live (EU) almost noone heard for Xiaomi before...it was funny to watch hugo barra and all that show they got going lol...that works for india maybe, but EU,Usa i think not.
People from outside china/india bought only good price/performance phones from Xiaomi...since we (I) payed 130€ for phone +15€ shipping, but warranty is not supported so I doubt many people will buy phones that cost more than mi5 from xiaomi...they had good sellings mostly because of first redmi phones and redmi note 3 + mi5...
But now I see they are giving higher prices and without warranty not as many people will buy it...
As I said this might work well for xiaomi in china and india, but elsewhere no go.

They have warranty in China & India because they have a distribution chain and resellers there. If eg they were to get amazon to carry their phones, you'd have warranty too. I must say I'm very happy with my purchase (assuming it doesn't burn out suddenly) so far.

Yeah, I know...
I knew all this things...and honestly I expected much from RN3 based on research I made before ordering and it even suprised nme how good it really is for the price...no better phone for this price imo
I was talking about newer models... They should stick stock aosp on xiaomis and even more people globally would buy but they rather went with apple copy miui style...updates on miui are pretty much worthless...just so they can "tell" they update daily and release weeklies.

Mi Mix EVO with Snapdragon 835 leaked on Geekbench

Looks like there is a higher-end variant of the Mi Mix in the horizon called the Mi Mix Evo. Leaked Geekbench screenshot shows Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM.
I wonder whether it will have a better camera sensor.
I'm not worried about the Snapdragon 835. I knew there were many new devices from Samsung, LG and the like with better specs than the Mix, coming out soon.
I expected the Mix to be a "one of a kind" device for a while, like how the Xperia Z Ultra was, at one point of time.
If the rumors pan out to be true, the fact that it may change that, is a bit disappointing I guess.
Moreover, judging from Xiaomi's history with previous devices, it doesn't look like we may see a lot of development for the device. Add to the fact, a very small community of us here and an even smaller community of users at the MIUI forums.
Does anyone regret buying the Mix, considering the Mix Evo would be sold at a similar price?

No regrets
@vergilbt I agree..
Not at all.
Sent from my MIghty Mix.
This would be cool if it has something other than a ceramic or glass body.
It'd be refreshing to have a ruggedized shell/display,no need for a case.
Otherwise, I don't have regrets.
Worldwide 2G/3G/4G/LTE support would be the main spec to consider trading up.
An I-R Blaster & wireless charging would seal the deal.
There's a lot of nice phones hitting the market soon, most of us here will be experiencing some measure of buyers remorse, especially if you're strictly a one-phone-at-a-time user.
HTC's latest U Series devices look nice. The Ultra is tempting (for me),but, I'm passing.
Besides, they will likely introduce yet another flagship @ MWC.Ditto with Huawei (P10), Samsung & LG.
It's a vicious nonstop cycle that's a real Love/Hate experience for those of us who use little to no restraint in trying out virtually everything on the market. ?
With that said, I'm outta here for a bit,got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro that just delivered & a Huawei Mate 9 delivering tomorrow.
An intervention is definitely in order,LOL......?

Most of my phone deals have been leases via T-Mobile's JumpOnDemand.
I've sold a few,not many,but, the trio of Xiaomi Mi MIX/Redmi Note 3 Pro/Huawei Mate 9 look to be long-term keepers,having buying them outright.
If I do need to thin the herd,I'll list 'em on Swappa,as other sites/private sales net only a fraction of their worth.

My phone came with an unlocked bootloader.
As soon as I realized that, I installed TWRP,made a backup of whatever was on my phone & jumped to the EU ROM,switched seamlessly to GlobeROM (very similar).
I have most MIUI/Xiaomi apps disabled, using SD Maid Pro.
Using Nova Launcher Pro & MIUI Xposed,I believe there's a thread here somewhere with the links for the proper version of Xposed for MIUI 8.
If not, just ping me & I'll post/PM 'em to you.......
In photography we call that Gear Acquisition Syndrome (gas).
The way I fixed it is to use the older generation for a while. I had a pretty serious issue with phones before but was forced to use my original xperia z1 after g4 had bootloop issue.
Turns out the z1 is so lovable that I didn't even bother fixing the g4. I only got the mix since it's one of a kind phone.
The hardware upgrade is getting insignificant. Even with a 50% battery improvement on the mix, it wouldn't be that important since the original mix is already pretty damn good.

Got this device just a few weeks back. I knew there were next gen phones with next gen specs coming out around Feb- March, which didn't bother me much. I bought the Mix, knowing this is a unique device. If an upgraded version hits the market too soon,, it will significantly diminish the value of the Original Mix. Moreover, we may not see much in terms of development if the interest for this device goes down too soon. And considering Xiaomi isn't very good at releasing kernel sources, we may even be on Marshmallow for a long long time. And that kinda sucks, especially for people who don't switch phones too often!
Before people start getting too pissed off, bear in mind the sheer volume of fake rumours that surface in relation to Xiaomi handsets - probably more even than for Samsung or Apple.
There's already been the debunked news about the Mi Mix Nano, not to mention the rumoured SD821-toting Mi S that never materialised, the rumours about a Mi 5C that have so far come to naught and a lot of Mi Note 2 rumours that turned out to be incorrect.
For all we know, that's just a test unit for the SD835 Xiaomi are using that's been given some random name - or even a completely faked benchmark.

Most of the angst is tongue-in-cheek,most here know how the life cycle of the smartphone scene is in constant change.
Those truly upset would do better to find a hobby that's just as consuming, but, easier on the wallet,or,focus on finding the best in the low-to-midrange segment (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro,OnePlus,etc.....)

Just hoping Xiaomi releases Kernel source for this device. As long as we see some real development for this device, I don't have any problems even if they bring one with Snapdragon 840.
The oneplus 3/3T has some really good ROMs, is based on the same chipset and if we have the source for the Mix, guess we can port a few ROMs. AOSP or CM anyone?

Nothing like forced perspective to appreciate the MIX:
1) Just finished setting up my Redmi Note3 Pro & while it's definitely a great device, arguably the best bang for the buck available,it can't hold a candle to the Mix.
2) Same with my Samsung Galaxy Note4,is still a great phone, but, even with its S-Pen/I-R Blaster/expandable storage & removable battery, I'd pick the MIX without any hesitation. The performance/display/battery life are outstanding, exceeding expectations big time.

Don't get me wrong, I completely get how frustrating it is to shell out for something and have it be superceded shortly after, even when you know it's likely to happen.
And should Xiaomi turn around and announce a superior Mi Mix a couple of months after I got mine, I'd be first in line to whine about it.
But having spent something like 10 months last year waiting for a phone I wanted to splash out on, I've come to realise just how low the wheat-to-chaff ratio is with Xiaomi rumours. So I'll hold off on complaining until I know for a fact what's happening

Each to their own, of course, but for me a huge part of the appeal of the Mi Mix is MIUI - any other ROM would feel like know was losing part of what makes the Mix so great.

Moving on to another device feom Honor 7

After trying to stick with honor 7 for as long as possible, it's time for me to move on because of the lack of customization for this device.
I need to find a device around 250 to 300$ with Snapdragon processor, around 3,4 GB ram, AMOLED screen (if possible) with a lot of customization options.
Can I have some suggestions please. Looked at LG G5 and Lenovo P2 for now but am undecided.
Help me out a bit please.
I orderd xiaomi mi 5s 128gig.
My father has 64gig version, its awesome.
Honor7 was one of the worst device I've ever had

amoled screen? tricky with your budget... unless you are fine with the snapdragon 625 you find on the lenovo p2
but since you are putting a g5 among your choices, I guess you are ok with ips screens too
btw, be careful, the g5 you have found for less than 300 bucks is very likely to be a SE model, which sports a much less cool SoC, a SD651, whose performance is close to a sd810 (almost... gpu is a lot less powerful).
if you're looking for a sd820/821, you have to look for a xiaomi mi5/mi5s
price is a bargain, you can't go wrong with either model!!!!! xiaomi's software support and development is awesome, they're still updating devices from 2012, so who needs a nexus/pixel?

Yeah, I researched their model numbers in detail and that G5 was sporting the lower tier processor. As you said, xiaomi 5 or 5s looks the best bet for me. Unfortunately it's not available in Pakistan so have to ask a friend of mine to get it for me.
Ordering it by mail will make me deal with customs and I am not up for that.
Have to wait a couple of months then to get it.

my brother has just received his, lenovo seems to have a hard time selling their devices in europe, so i have seen the p2 sell for 200 € for a few times.
i can agree, overall good device, superb 5000 amp battery which lasts for like 5 days on moderate use. however the development section here on xda is quite inactive for the p2, which means future releases are not gonna be faster / better, just like it is with the honor 7 .... so my brother is also stuck wich marchmallow for the time being. and i mean, way older devices have nougat, and oreo is soon to be getting started....
edit: there's an unofficial linageos 14 yes, but unless the most critical bugs are fixed, i would not even think about giving that rom a shot.
Edit: i am also waiting for a good device to get a good deal looking for
- highend xiaomi phone
- (honor 8 but i guess soon it'll be the same as honor 7) but still around 300€
- zuk z2 - 3
- maybe note-style phone with 5,5 "
- one + 3 or something.
looking for at most 250€
Your best bet is the latest xiaomi device.

Do you regret buying MI A1?

Vote and post your comments on your beloved MI A1.
I should've bought RN4.
not regret because i have a feeling custom ROMS will fix all the issues we have. it's gonna be huge....
There are quite some problems with the phone but I guess custom ROM can somehow sort it out. For the price : performance ratio, it can't go wrong.
No. It will be very well supported by custom ROMs in the future I am sure, just like my old Moto G 2015 is one of the most popular devices running LineageOS. The price to performance is great as @soralz said despite Xiaomi taking their time on Oreo.
Neh. None at all.
It's the best budget phone that I can buy on my country, the camera is not at a flagship level but I don't take many photos and the rest is ok also the battery is enough for a complete day.
Off-toppic: @jglass071 I also have a Moto G 2015 running LOS 14.1
There are higher specification and lower price Chinese handsets available. Lets not pretend we all got a bargain. The dual camera is trash. The reason (most of us) bought this phone was for buttery smooth Android with first in line updates. This has turned out not to be the case.
So from my point of view I do regret buying the phone, as I could have had better spec Chinese phone (specifically battery) and flashed a custom ROM. Please lets not be childish and start asking me to list them. We can all use GSM arena compare tool.
Higher spec & lower price than Xiaomi mi a1 ... what a joke. The reason you chose it bcoz it's the cheapest budget phone with a good spec and much reliable Chinese brand.
Seriously ppl just dun understand you get what you've paid for. From what I see so far, ppl who ***** about this phone couldn't afford other than this. Pathetic ...
Sorry but you must have misread my previous post.
I stated I bought the phone for the Android One software. The hardware doesn't particularly bother me although it would have been nice to have a decent camera and a bigger battery.
For the price this early 2016 chip does the job and the phone should be good for another 6-12 months with only 4gb of onboard RAM.
Certainly a solid choice in this spending bracket.
Sorry you got so hot tempered with me about the phone, I guess you really love your MiA1 which I respect.
Maybe a quick browse on GSM Arena using compare tool? Always good to see what's out there. Of course, these options would be without the 'Android One' software.
Lol ... who doesn't know about GSMArena, I said that as I know you're unable to state out the phone higher spec and cheaper than xiaomi mi a1.
I'm happy for what I've paid for, it does what I've required and I'm sure there are room for it to improve. Unlike you guys being cheapskate, spent a little money and expect xiaomi to give premium supports. Late updates ended up like crying babies.
Some goes there are lotsa bloatwares and spywares ... for christ sake, you reckon Google, Microsoft, Apple doesn't gather users' information? Stop daydreaming there ...
It's a shame you have become so bitter about your failed investment.
Maybe learn to research the market more next time rather than take your frustrations out on others.
The biggest regret I have is buying it all full price, 2 weeks before the price dropped. No other regrets.
Name one phone with "higher specification and lower price" I bet you can't.
You're another non post reader. Look on GSM arena I'm not here to do your homework boy. Out of pity, I'll start you off with the Xiaomi MiMax2.
Lol max 2 is certainly neither higher specs Nor cheaper than a1.
Unfortunately you are badly wrong again. Mi max 2 is available for 'equi price' of MiA1 and with larger screen and battery.
Many thanks.
As I said, you may want to investigate GSM arena 'compare tool'.
Not at all.
Pure bloat-free android = bliss
No regrets! Good phone for the money.!
There are always some kids crying over delayed updates and "spyware", "bloatware",...
But really, who cares.
I'm satisfied with my A1!
That's great.
As long as you don't have expectations for Android One experience.

Two and a half years of Zuk2 plus and I'm planning to upgrade!

It's been two and a half years using zuk2 plus and I am mesmerized by the development support it has till now. I have used many budget xiaomi Redmi series phone in between but so far Zuk 2 plus beats them all in terms of Roms stability Developers made. A very big THANK YOU to all the developers for their hard work.
I'm planning to upgrade my phone which will have good developers support like this phone. ONE PLUS and Poco phones created so much hype but I want to try other phones running Qualcomm chipset.
My budget is between $350 - $500.
I'll still be using this phone till developers continue their support even if I get a new phone.
Your valuable opinion will be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

Confused with poco or one plus. One plus refresh their phone after ever six months and it becomes outdated quickly. Poco on the other hand is likely to release new phone this year anytime soon so If I am to go for Poco I think I should wait for the new update.
I wonder if there is any phone releasing flagship Qualcomm chipset in my budget this year ?.
Anyway, Thank you very much for recommending me.

I used my friend's One plus 6T for a month and it buttery smooth but I just hate their way of refreshing phone after six months. Any other recommendation?

I do agree on that.. however as of now I feel sd 845 is pretty good for next 2 years .. 855 would be too expensive with op as well.. rumors are quoting upwards of $600.. unless poco comes out with 855.. if you are ok to wait for that then go for 855.. otherwise 845 is the best as of now market..
Poco is with lcd where as op is with amoled meaning superior display .. poco has liquid cooling meaning less heat. Choose what goes for u
