automatic screen off with case.? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Guides, News, & Discu

anyone any ideas or know any app that will turn off screen when case is closed......(non Samsung case)

I think some apps like KinScreen can lock the phone based on light sensor (the front camera) once a certain level of darkness is reached it locks the phone, so it might work with third party case.

Nooo there's a small magnet in my case it's in bottom left corner when it's open
Or ues a magnet on the bottom right hand corner of the screen
Don't swipe life it up and down and the screen will go on and off ?

Is this normal?

I have just got my blackstone and I would like to hear from other owners if this is ok
1- I feel that something is loose beneath the camera, when I put my phone on the table or when I tap on the camera from the back I hear as if something is cracking
2- This might be normal but when I tap on the display I feel that the outer cover of the display is a bit moving towards the display, as if there is a 1mm space between the display and the outer cover, this is most noticeable when pressing at the middle of the display
Thanks
I have noticed both of those things ever since I got my HD a month ago. I think it is normal. I even read a tip in the wiki list of tips that deals with the squeaky back cover. See tip Nr. 37 there.
On my device I do not notice anything like you mentioned.

I find:
1. The back cover is loose and makes that "cracking" noise
2. There is zero movement of the screen in relation to the unit. Try taking the back cover off and using the screen.

Really? I notice it on mine but only when I use the stylus and tap right in the center of the screen. It is not much at all, but if feel as though the clear plastic on the screen sinks half a millimeter and eventually touches bottom.
I don't see how taking the back cover off would affect using the screen at all.
Thanks for your replies, my back cover is really fine, I remember trying one in the shop that had the back cover problem but the unit I ordered is not suffering from this. The noise I hear is really coming from the inside and is somewhere under the camera.
Regarding the display, this is not a problem I know but when tapping on the display I just don't feel it is solid but that plastic cover moves downwards. Exactly as Chris is describing above
Doesn't the screen have to go down? Its a resistive touch, so there has to be SOME movement right?
i would recommend going back to the store and ask the sales person to check it
this does not sound alright and mine does not make the sound you described
check "settings" -> "sounds & notification" and disable "screen tabs"" this is a kinda cracking sound too when you touch the screen, and the speaker is on the backside

curious about screen brighness during a call

no problems here im just perplexed at the moment
okay this is insane how the heck does my phone know to turn of the screen when im in a call, ONLY when my head is close to it, i held the phone completely still and when i put my head close to it the screen turned off but when i moved away the screen turned on, though it was the accelerometer at first but now i dont know!
It's called a proximity sensor.
HTC and others have put this in many phones to turn the screen off when placed near your head, so you dont press buttons with your ears.
These things will probably do everything for you 5 years from now.
Just place your finger over the top of the phone screen and do it yourself. lol
The proximity sensor is located under the glass in the upper right corner of the phone, above the screen. There's also a light sensor. You can see them if you shine a bright light.

[Q] Some issues with my Streak

I have noticed that when I press/tap on the lower left and right corners (in portrait, in landscape its the top right and bottom right corners) I get the typical LCD 'ripple' effect (as if I am pressing on a typical LCD monitor). Is this normal? No other Android phone I own does this as the glass on the device separates the LCD enough from where people touch. Normal?
Second, I notice that when dragging things (again, picture this in portrait mode) from top to bottom, about 60% of the way down the screen its like it stops reading my finger and the widget, icon, etc drops there and stops following my finger. I need to apply decent pressure to get it to keep tracking my finger. Normal?
I am using the AT&T streak with the 2.1 ROM.

both normal.
the screen ripple is because the lcd screen is actually bonded to the protective glass
The last point is not normal, I don't have to press hard to keep a drag going.

Yeah I've never experienced the 2nd but definitely the ripple I sorta expected.

Maybe its a design tweak to stop the screen from breaking so easily? My first streak never rippled but then one day i turned it on and found my screen had broken. After a three week long battle with 02 i got a new model and lo and behold ripple whenever i press near the edge of the screen.

Odd Screen Dead Spot

I've been having a weird screen issue lately, independent of rom or kernel; my screen won't respond to touch input directly beneath the status bar.
For instance, if I touch an icon or button at the top of the screen, it does not respond at all... Unless I rotate the phone into landscape mode and select the command.
The status bar itself works fine, I just have to tilt the phone to use the area of the screen underneath it. Weird.
Just a shot in the dark, do you have a screen cover that might have lifted a bit?

I have a matte, anti-glare cover, but it's tight as a drum. Not even an air bubble.
Similar thing happened to my last phone. Only it was the bottom corner. Never found a solution. Ended up getting new phone.

Inaccurate Pen

My pen seems to be increasingly inaccurate. In some areas of the screen, when I hold the pen over the screen, the on screen indicator can be about a centimetre or so away from where the pen actually is over the screen.
There's also far less sensitivity in regards to how far the pen can be from the screen on the far left and far right of the screen and,the very bottom right and left of the screen don't seem to pick up hover activity at all.
Once the pen is TOUCHING the screen is seems to be mostly accurate, it was definitely closer to the mark when I actually bought it.
Is there any way to calibrate or reset the pen sensor?

Smack your S pen in a table with it still on your Palm. (not too hard). Or you can try (not recommended) take off the button and turn up the sensitivity. There's a link to this in detail give me a few minutes and I'll edit this post with the link.
