Up to date guide for installing the stock rom on moto x play? - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed LineageOS 17 on my moto x play xt1562, but i want to return to my stock rom, because i had better battery life with it. I downloaded the stock rom from here: https://github.com/motoxplay/stock but i can't find up to date guide how to install it. I am wondering if i can install the stock rom as i installed the LineageOS rom: i booted the phone in the lineage custom recovery mode and sideloaded the LineageOS image with this command: `adb sideload xxxxxxxxxx.zip`. Can i do the same with the stock image?

Old thread but i reply. You need to flash every file manually in fastboot to install stock rom on Motorola X Play

Trouble with latest update for Moto X Pure Edition XT1095 Verizon

Hi,
Some time ago, I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP on my Moto X Pure Edition XT1095. I tried to root it and soft bricked it. I did have a nandroid backup and restored the phone. I recently go an update notification from Motorola and tried to install it. I forgot about having the TWRP recovery. It began bootlooping after the failed installation. I again used my backup and it's working fine again. How can I install this update? Should I go ahead and root it, then find a zip of the update? Is there a way to disable TWRP and install it? If rooting is the answer, what's the easiest way? I evidently used the wrong way the last rooting attempt.
Thanks in advance for your help!

You have options. You can flash the stock recovery, use the return-to-stock tool, flash the pre-rooted stock ROM, or flash a custom ROM. My question is, why did you unlock the bootloader (voiding your warranty) unless you wanted to root and flash custom ROMs?

The OP did state that root was attempted.
My suggestion to the OP: if you have a nandroid backup of the stock ROM that has never been rooted, then restore it, flash the stock recovery, then try to look for the OTA. If it takes and installs, reinstall TWRP, nandroid backup the new ROM, and you can proceed from there. You should be able to root the stock ROM from there. If all else fails, you can install a custom ROM that already has root built in.
Since you have the image of the updated non root unmodified stock ROM, you can easily restore later for the next update.

adb not working and how to root

I would like to root my moto xt1575 pure to try everything to improve battery life
It is running Nougat OTA zip flashed through stock recovery
I unlocked the bootloader at Motorola's web site.
I installed adb and fastboot on my windows 10 laptop. Not all the adb commands work
I want to do the image dump that magisk requires before proceeding any further.
I used Sunshine SuperSu and xposed on my HTC one m8 vzw running kitkat 4.4.4
I apologize if this is covered elsewhere or in the wrong place. Perhaps no one has rooted a stock Moto xt1575 pure already running nougat yet. If I can't figure out how to do the image dump I'm stuck with stock. I

You say you unlocked the bootloader? Why not just flash the magisk 14.3 zip in a custom recovery? (TWRP?) That is what I would do, flash TWRP, and then flash magisk through that. To do this you are going to want to follow this tutorial http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-install-twrp-and-root-moto-x-pure-2015-xt1575/ and then once in TWRP click install -> magisk zip. Let me know if this is unlcear. But yeah install TWRP, and then flash magisk through that

I installed Magisk Manager and made a patched_boot.img but I get the error no devices/emulators found when trying to run adb commands from my laptop. I uninstalled and reinstalled the motorola driver software on my laptop. I'm just trying to go by the red letters straight off the magisk page in xda, so why doesn't it work? Must be me! LoL!
You don't need patched boot image.
Flash or boot only twrp 3.x(one version can backup stock recovery, I don't remember n°).
fastboot boot nameTwrp.img
Into twrp backup all: boot, system, data(?), recovery, esp.
Important: after backup restore boot.
Flash magisk14.zip(link is in my signature).
Reboot. @jim1sn1

Restore stock ROM for XT1768?

So I'm currently running Lineage OS, but for some reason I can't play FGO while using Magisk. Even though the game works normally, and Magisk should support it on the Canary build now, it starts detecting Lineage OS when Magisk is activated, even when using Magisk Hide. So how would I go about switching back to Stock? The other thread with stock roms has dead Links.
Download the stock firmware and Flash it with fastboot use RSD Lite. Or one of the many posts on how to install Stock firmware on that model.
This is the site I've gotten firmware to update my E4 XT1768 - https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/perry/official/RETAIL/

I can not install Roms on my x play XT 1563

I have: the stock 7.1.1 rom, twrp recovery and Motorola drivers. When I try to install any rom designed for this computer, I see, error when installing the zip file. what should I do?

Which TWRP version to install?

I have moto x play xt1562 and on this page i see that there are different unofficial TWRP versions. Which version i have to install? ALso, if i have other custom recovery already installed, like linage custom recovery, do i have to take and precautions?
hi peter,
it depends on which image you want to install. since may 2020 there is a bug in twrp which no longer starts the phone with the ota update.
if you want to backup, delete or install your partitions you can install the current version 3.4.0. when you have everything set up you either have to import the updates manually or use its recovery as with lineage. twrp should also work in version 3.3.0 (or any other version before may 2020).
I am currently using the lineage with lineage recovery and it works. should you need more settings for the recovery you can simply boot twrp without installing! thus it is possible to set everything in twrp and still have the lineage recovery because of ota on the device.
if you want the recovery boot (no install) you have to execute this command:
Code:
fastboot boot twrpname.img
cheers
