In Extra settings there is an option to set radio region and I set it up to Europe, and also in Conf I checked "RDS" checkbox. Restarted head unit but when I start radio app I get new text box with "None" info displayed. Tried other regions but without success getting RDS info.
Am I missing something here?
BTW MCU version is T5.3.19-150-13-C07101-181008 and System version is V8.2.3_20180713.155939_SPX2

You might have to enable/turn it on in the radio app, sometimes it can be a bit hit and miss if it works

Radio app shows text box "None" where(I assume) should be shown RDS info after I've turned it on in Extra settings of unit. Cannot find any additional settings within radio app. Strange.

Does somebody have another radio apk just to try?

On my head unit there is a switch to turn rds on/off in the factory settings section

I have it also but when I tick RDS check box radio app just gets text line showing "None" but no real rds info about radio station.

Not sure what the "NONE" is but I don't believe it has anything to do with rds. It's too small an area. The RDS usually runs where the channel numbers are.
Have you enabled "RDS" in "FACTORY" settings. (you have to use the default password for your machine to get into factory settings.)

Here are the pics from factory settings-Extra settings , I enter password and here I can adjust radio region and in Config info I enable RDS. When I enable RDS, "None" text box shows otherwise it is not showing.

My system is not rooted and I can not get into the system/app folder to copy the apk. I doubt my radio app would work on yours anyway. I'm a px6 on android 10
You can TRY Navradio+.... but there is a note saying it's not really compatible with allwinner T3

Tried Navradio+ free version but no luck. Seems that RDS won't work.
Thanks.

I think you could use this RK3066 HeadUnit
Depends on whatradio you have as you didn't tell us
Service app for RK3066 car HeadUnit family. Android 4.2 and 4.4
Features:
- Call via bluetooth from Android apps request. Best usage with True Contacts app!
- Media buttons remap from CAN/Key inputs to andorid (all custom players support)
- Direct control of media players - Media button emulation, PCradio app direct control (root required)
- Auto start music app on boot or on Phone headunit key
- Tune volume on speed (steps: 60, 100, 120 km/h)
- Background volume change (no stock or system UI)
- Safe volume level set on start/stop headunit
- Supprot of both old and new Headunit versions
- Call History widget included
- Media keys correctly sorted and handled on headunit boot-up
IF CALL DO NOT WORK: Change BT Api version in settings.
App is full open-source: https://github.com/petrows/RK3066-Headunit-service
Supports head units on Rockchip RK30SDK platform: RK3066 (Android 4.2.2 and 4.4.X)
- Klyde (KLD)
- Roadmaster (RM)
- Hui Fei (KGL)
- Microntek
- SMARTY
- TWIN
- Many other brands on RK3066 chipset
I already tried this app and i get a workaround with it and xposedmtc. With xposedmtc i overrighted the stock volume app and with rk3066 headunit, i put 22 for the safe volume. That work for get my prefered sound at start but that didnt fix my problem.
I want to get the same volume at start then when i close the radio like the stock 4.2.2 rom. I didnt found anything about it after several search. The only thing i found, is a workaround

Please help identify this Headunit (Android 6.0.1, Allview Quad T3 1.2GHz, 2GB Ram)

Attached some pictures of headunit, button and menu layout, as well as CPUX data. I suspect it's some kind of Joying but can't find it anywhere...
It's a 9" unit, 1024x600 resolution and a pretty locked down system menu
Thx for hints!
i think i found it, it's one of the models that "youmecity" store sells on aliexpress...
Hi, yes this is youmecity.
I just got this (or very similar) head unit and it's fantastic!
Do anybody know how to ROOT it without flashing?
Thanks in advance

don't know, sorry.
try kingoroot or kingroot....
@up: I tried, didn't work
Hi, I got apparently the same unit: Silverstrong quad core allwinner t3 w. android 6.01
There is not a lot available yet.
I rooted it with Kingroot.
App's are pretty lame, but hardware seems to be OK.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../silverstrong-quad-core-allwinner-t3-t3575024
i got new FW (25.03 - along with MCU and config update) from chinese support and it fixes the following:
- radio app now displays RDS text instead of MHz frequency, also FM presets saved as text but fewer chars than actual station name...so some may end up truncated
- voice-over-navi now works. Front speakers stop music to play navi announcements and then revert to music, while back speakers keep playing music. Not as elegant as proper volume fade-out/in, but does the job
- more settings & options
- slightly better wifi reception (can be subjective, couple of dB according to wifi analyzer)
what ended up worse than previous FW:
- PPI or DPI changed, can't figure out exactly how/what, but text in apps (non native ones!, like waze, poweramp, weather, etc..) is now smaller than before.
- top notification bar is now present all the time, so apps don't run "fullscreen" anymore. Maybe this is why text is smaller, since it's smaller area vertically...
- overall screen real estate seems to be offset downwards a bit (couple of milimeters), options (icons with text, like in poweramp) have text cut in half, kind of hidden below bezel.
Things on my feedback list that i gave them for next FW update:
- introduce "folder" view in the default music app, not just "artists, songs, playlists, etc.."
- fix "Handbreak" info in the carinfo app It is now completely the other way around: when handbrAKE is not engaged, it shows red icon ON...when it's engaged (pulled) it shows white icon OFF...wtf
- revert text size to old FW (probably make apps fullscreen can fix that?)
- fix screen offset
Overall very satisfied with the unit, the support guys (or gals?) do respond relatively in good time and impressed with rolling out new Firmware with fixes that i feedback to them in the first place!!
You can give a link to FW

Thanks, it worked!
On my unit, ACC and B+ were switched on the iso plug. It means some settings were not stored when switching off the unit (beep on keys, radio presets). After putting B+ and ACC wire on the right iso positions, everything worked perfect.
Dear @zerozoneice
Could you please share the Car Info.apk file from your android Head Unit.
Process to Extract App from Head Unit :
You can use APK Extractor, download from Playstore. Once you open the APK Extractor App then select CAR INFO App from the list and then click extract.
Or download the attached APK Extractor and share your CAR INFO app.

Hi, do you know how to update Android on this thing?
I received new firmware from the supplier - two files: "mcu_auto..4" + "os_update_auto..0"
There is an instruction that these files should be copied do USB stick to the main folder without changing the names.
After attaching USB stick, Android should detect update files presence and show confirmation for the user.
But nothing happens when I connect this drive. I can browse files and I see update files. But update does not trigger.
I don't know what to do else... I tried reformatting the drive to FAT filesystem, tried changing filenames (I saw that somebody changed files to OS_UPDATE.zip and MCU.zip) - nothing...
Any help appreciated!
brightness etc.

How is the screen brightness under daylight? Had a similar system before (Joying) and was fine, except for the screen brightness, which could have been better.
Also, does it boot pretty quick? Joying was almost instant on

Android Headunits - UI comparison thread

I'd like to start this thread hoping that as many of you as possible will chip in with useful info. I personally researched a lot before buying a HU, especially interested in how the default UI looks like, launcher, radio app, music app, EQ app, settings, etc... Got some useful info from different sellers, re-sellers, Chinese support staff, etc, but nothing compares to a real community, and i wished this info would have been available in a single thread...
My reasons were various: noticed some HU have subwoofer controls in EQ app, some not. Waze looks different (text scaling) on identical sized displays...Some radio apps displayed RDS text, some not... Some launchers and apps look simply horrible, some almost OEM-like...you get the idea Until we can claim that all HUs can be rooted and custom FWs can be installed, many of us will be stuck with whatever you get out of the box.
So i'll start.
To keep things somewhat organised, please post following info besides UI screenshots:
- Make/model
- Source of purchase (which online store)
- HW specs (RAM, ROM, display size, CPU info, etc.)
- SW specs (Android version, MCU, etc.)
- UI images (DEFAULT radio app, media app, eq app, bluetooth app, settings menu, about screen, launcher, etc..)
One more thing: there's many versions of the same thing running around under different store names, etc. If you have a HU that's similar to whatever's been posted here, just link to an existing post. Create new reply only if there's different UI elements or FW features, etc. Thx!

@zerozoneice - I see you have prints for two devices. What would be the main differences between them? How is the audio quality? I am thinking of buying the second one(cheaper) for my MK5 Golf to replace the standard stereo.

some differences are:
- screen size (advantage 9")
- settings customizations (advantage 8")
- possibility to set standby time when ACC is OFF (10min, 20, 30, 1h, 2h) - advantage 8"
- proper voice-over-navi implementation in the 8" (music volume fades but doesn't stop, navi notifications play, music volume goes back up) - advantage 8"
- audio quality is the same
- big advantage of 9" is that it has subwoofer control (volume/gain, frequency cutoff), whereas the 8" has only a "bass" slider and you need to globally adjust the woofer volume (gain) from the amp itself in the trunk
- working display brightness better in 8" than in the 9"
- better looking radio APK in the 8", but both display RDS info.
as you can see the 8" has more advantages, but somehow i'm running the 9" one now they're both good....
the perfect unit would be the FW of the 8" combined with the screen and UI of the 9"...go figure..

A couple of questions:
1. Can you run Android Auto as a standalone apk/launcher on this unit?
2. Did you try connecting a front dashcam to the Composite video input?
I wonder if the 6.0.1 FW will work with other T3 units. I spoke to my seller’s tech support, he claims that the factory hasn’t deemed Android 6 stable and ready for public use yet.

head unit info
Hello, it seems that I have the same head unit. Mine is unbranded and it's shaped to fit a 2008 suzuki swift, however all the codes seems the same.
What I got until now is that 8888 is the boot logo code selection and I can access to the engineering mode menu by dialing *#*#3646633#*#*
I'm trying to perform a factory reset because I accidentally delete the "su" executable and I cannot access it anymore even with the password, howevere there is a factory reset password that I can't find on the net. The next step will be trying to access the "RST" button and check what it does.
Hi Mr. Purple,
Thanks for your code

I can confirm that it works for me as well. I was not however able to locate the FM Radio settings I was looking for (let me know if you find those).
Good luck with the factory reset, and let us know how it turned out.
Updates
I have some news:
The actual model seems to be the witson w2-k7xxx (in which xxx is the code of the shape of the front panel, mine is w2-K7658).

I managed to access the system menu with the code 3711 and here there are the FM settings!
Here follows what I discovered by trying and trying again and searching on the net:
CODES (to be inserted in Settings > software version > small gear icon near HMI):
3711 -> factory settings
8888 -> boot logo settings
6666 -> a chinese text that reports "no update files where found" appears (probably the update code)
7777 -> a chinese text that reports "no update files where found" appears (probably the update code)
0 -> MCU update page
How to access the engineering mode:
dial *#*#3646633#*#*
How to access the firmware update page:
Click the RST button
touch the screen (and move your finger) until a writing appear on the top left
if a binary file is present in the root of the SD card, then the update begins
How to perform a factory reset: (/system partition is left unchanged, only user data is wiped)
Click the RST button
touch the screen with five fingers (and move them) until a writing appears on the top left
The factory reset procedure will begin. It lasts for 10 minutes
I mailed witson for a firmware update (in order to override the /system partition and restore the su executable) but they ask me for a serial number that is written on the unit. I will disassemble it in a couple of days and if I manage to get this update, I will post it there. However it seems that each model has its own custom firmware that supports only one button layout. If I flash a firmware of the same family (w2-k7xxx) but from a different model, the buttons may not work.
Maybe you can find your own model on witson website

Wow man, you've really been busy! I'm definitely going to try out those codes and knowing who the manufacturer is will help as well. The user interface here definitely looks familiar, though I'm a bit confused as to how you were able to discover the XXX code in the W2-K7XXX part number of your unit. In any case thanks again for all the info and keep us updated, especially if you manage the much needed firmware update...

Well, my HU has the panel that fits only in the 2008 suzuki swift, so I used the search engine on their site to look for "Suzuki Swift" and there I got the part number!
However if you have a standard panel maybe you can go in product page, then on the left column select "+ For Universal All-in-one" and see if one of the model is the one you own. In that page I see only 4 Android 6.0 headunit: W2-K7900G, W2-K7927G, W2-K7902 and W2-K7924 (I can't send link because I'm new on XDA, but you can easily find them)
From the photos you posted, it seems that your HU is the W2-K7927G

Yes, I think so too ( Link for anyone interested). It would be nice to be able to confirm that this is indeed the exact model before we attempt a firmware update as flashing the wrong firmware is almost guaranteed to brick the unit (i'll try to search for th exact P/N in the "hidden" menus). Besides, now that I have all these secret menus to play with, maybe I can fix the problems I experience without a firmware update. The biggest two issues are speaker noise while idling (even when radio and music player are off) and waaay too jerky FM reception (unit is constantly trying to find a better frequency for the current station - I was told that I need to lower the FM sensitivity in the technician menu to fix that). If I can fix these two issues, I can definitely live without a F/W update. Did you experience any of these issues or is it just my particular model / unit?

yes, the idle background noise is too loud too on mine. The reception seems fine, just a little worse than the suzuki stock radio definitely usable. However if you find a solution for both, I think I will try it too! At the moment I'm stuck to solve the "su" problem!
sorry to hear that.
i assumed the factory reset took care of the SU problem.

Unfortunately the factory reset only reset the user partition, but the /system partition is left unchanged.
However after two weeks of mails, I finally got a firmware update binary from Witson.
I don't know if it's compatible to your radio, however i mailed to [email protected], they asked me for a product code placed on top of my Head unit and then sent me the update after I provided the code.
Here a picture of the location of the product code on my unit (it's the top side of the box):

Maybe you can ask for a firmware too with your serial and then we can check if it's the same file.
Now I'm trying to fixing a network bug that made my cellular network connect to a roaming operator (TIM) instead of my operator (three) due to a wrong priority assignment.
As always nothing but helpful information from MrDeepPurple (seen them in concert not too long ago hehe). I feel kind of ashamed for not contributing anything.

I plan to take apart the center console in my car during this weekend so I'll be sure to check for that code - in addition to a few other things I've been saving for this event such as debugging that horrible background noise we talked about. I plan to disconnect the HU from all peripherals one by one until I find the culprit. If the HU itself is generating that noise I'll need to rethink my strategy. As for the radio reception, I did find the radio sensitivity setting thanks to your help and lowering it did help a little, but it turns out I've been kind'a stupid not noticing how short the antenna the previous owner put on the car was. With that size it was physically impossible to get good reception, so I just ordered an OEM antenna from the car manufacturer and hope to be done with this problem. The moral of this, I think, is that even though this HU is pretty sh**ty, we shouldn't be so quick to blame everything on it as there are other components in the system. One thing to note to anyone fiddling with the system settings from the codes MrDeepPurple provided, be aware that saving the settings will RESET YOUR HOME SCREEN TO STOCK so if you want to try out different settings do it all in one go, otherwise you'll end up having to replace all your widgets and things to the way you like them about a zillion times.

It seems that the problems never end with this HU - is this bug due to the firmware update?
At this pace by the time we get them to perform adequately they will be outdated.
Anyways good luck and keep updating.

yes, this happens on a random OTA update I received a month ago. I didn't even know that this HU can have OTAs. However I'm not able to select network type (2G, 3G, 4G) anymore because the menu is greyed and instead it appeared a menù with PLMN editing. I didn't even know what a PLMN was before that.
However this menù is totally useless, the selection and the editing of PLMNs is resetted when you exit this menu. The PLMN which has the highest priority is TIM, then comes three UK (why uk? iI'm in italy!!). I read that there is a sqlite db accessible only with root permission that contains those informations so I need root to access it.

You contributed to find the correct way to root this HU that is the most useful information to me by now!! Thank you!
well, it seems that the root procedure doesn't work on mine.
After all the steps on Ownice C500 post (even with the short password on forfan executable and the long one with the su executable) it seems that the root doesn't work. When I try to run the su command on a terminal emulator it returns 1. It's a generic error code, so there should be something missing. However I'm not scared to test it now that I have the firmware update files.
Did you use the su executable in the Ownice C500 post?
Are the other file useless (libsupol.so, sukernel and supolicy) ?

so with the firmware update they also patched the system against rooting?
makes me think twice before updating...

Having performed the root two months ago I'm sorry to say I don't really remember much. However two things are clear from the screenshot (third post in this thread):
1. I used the longer password.
2. Only the actual su file is copied and given execution permissions.
Not sure what's the source of that 'su' executable but it's probably from the link given as I can't recall doing otherwise.
Today I received a new update binary, I will try to upload it soon and check if it solves my problem

I've never tried waze on it, only google maps and sygic and they both works fine! Well, sygic is a bit slow and laggy but still usable.

The main reason I've put Android in the car is be able too use Waze properly (i.e. no weird phone holding gadgets) so yes, I can confirm that Waze works fine on this HU. Otherwise I'd have replaced it long time ago.
As for the idle noise, I currently tend to think it's a hardware rather than software issue. I'm going to take apart the center console and see what's what as soon as I receive some parts I'm waiting for (for which I also need to take apart the center console - no sense in doing it twice). Will report my findings.

The distribution of the FULL version of the firmware has been temporarily suspended.
Thank you so much for the invaluable help in creating the firmware mod for the user with forum XDA Graser_SJ !! Without his help, this mod would not have appeared!
Service firmware for devices without DSP, who mistakenly installed firmware for DSP and lost sound.
Install only to those who can not return the sound !!!Based on my LITE mod for devices without DSP with full Root access and a modified launcher.
ATTENTION: after the firmware, everything will be reset for you - the touch will become mirror and will change LEFT-RIGHT. The buttons on the panel will not work!
And maybe all the settings of the device will be reset. You need to rewrite all your settings as they are put on a piece of paper or take their photo.
After flashing, you need to configure the touch and configure the buttons again. I am enclosing the photo below where it is located. Go to Settings - Car-related settings - Setting the touchscreen and button on panel. As you configure, you need to reboot.
I want to warn you: everything that you do, you do at your own peril and risk, and you decide whether to do it or not.

I made a recovery firmware in .img, for those who do not boot the device or a complete "brick" with a normal screen resolution.
1. For those who have an sd slot in the device.
2. Who connected USB OTG inside the device on the motherboard.
The archive contains:
STM32_KC1E0112-P01-1.1.4.3.1_20200118.img - the recovery firmware itself
SDDiskTool_v1.57.cab - a program for creating a bootable sd card for those who have an sd slot in the device
DriverAssitant_v4.91.zip - drivers for connecting USB OTG
RKDevTool_Release_v2.73.zip - program for flashing via USB OTG
Read about USB OTG here (thanks to a_vtom for instructions):

Guys, this is only the first version of the firmware. I have a lot of improvements in my plans. Including the problems you described.
I ask you to excuse me in advance - I very rarely reply on the forum and in private messages. I physically run out of time.
after testing your rom, is it possible to go back to the factory one?
If so, how should it be done?
does your rom work on all radios that have px6 with stm32 mcu?
I'd be interested in this as well.

Yes, no problem, you can return to the factory firmware. Only firmware is divided into 2 versions - for devices with DSP and devices without DSP. Check out my first post on this topic. All factory firmware are here - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1UzDN-qwQwwmx_3e_c_Ngtc0Sei2GempL

Thank you friend
In your rom, the dsp work on rca output?
Hello
I flashed the full rom, no dsp today. I love it! I understand its a work in progress, but I'm not going back to original firmware, sticking with Malaysk. Two issies i have is, rear camera works very poorly, looks like perhaps not enough gain. changing input modes just yields "no input". Another issue (This is an issue on orignal firmware too), status bar notifidations are too dark to read, and on dark surface.
Finally we have some modding going on with STM32 PX6! This hardware has so much potential.
Some of these issues iv started working on myself, if i make any progress, il make sure to send you.
Installing now, was hoping the notifications would be different, I as well can't read them on the factory firmware. If this goes through I'll purchase full version soon. Thanks for your work.
---------- Post added at 05:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:23 PM ----------
WHAT THE HECK, I just sent for the full version. If you get a chance to fix the notification bar (to dark to read) let me know. Thanks again.

I understand there are three types of different firmware (oh my god, this is terrible, for one device they release three different firmware )
1. For DSP
2. No DSP
3. No DSP and other type of rear camera.
Write to me in the mail (as I understand you have a problem with the rear camera?) I will give you the third type of firmware
Regarding the dark curtain of notifications - I will try to redo it later.
My device on the STM32 has now broken down (they sent me a defective one, it worked for only a month) and I need to fix it at the moment.

Hi. If I understand right, the pull down notification area background and font are still dark and not possible to change?Because this is the main reason why I want to change the firmware.
Can someone upload here a screenshot of the notification area?
