No RCS in meaages for Unlocked US model? - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Guides, News, & Discu

Anyone else in the US that got the unlocked phone have RCS (Chat settings) in there messages app?
For clarification, I know Google messages can use RCS, I am asking about Samsung messages.
Samsung messages on unlocked Note 20 Ultra using Verizon does not work.

I'm using Google messages and rcs is working with mine but haven't used Samsung messages.
Update to add that I'm on Verizon.

Hmm, I'm on Verizon and I don't see chat settings in my messages
Nevermind, just noticed you are using Google messages

T-Mobile, US Unlocked Version purchased from Samsung using Google Message. Chat Features are active and show Status: Connected. Can use the features with other RCS on Google Messages users. Seems to work for me.

I downloaded Google Carrier Services and it works for me.

Unlocked from samsung on Mint mobile which uses Tmobile towers.

Hmm . Mine is unlocked version flashed to tmobile and RCS not working too.

I'm not sure if this could work but if you use Google Messages Rcs. Try clearing data then open and see if it changes and clear data again and should likely show up with turning on. Might have to do a 3rd one if it still not configuring correctly. Had to do clear data twice on mine to get it to set up and activate.
I haven't checked the Samsung messages but you could try this as well. But can't say if it will work or not or if it is something with unlocked and t-mobile. As had this message come up first time opening Google messages with Verizon.

Hope it works if not was worth a try. You can try clearing once more to see if it grabs.
I just remember that someone mentioned to clear data to get the Google messages rcs to work.
So wanted to post this if this was the case. Hope it is this then it be something else. I just don't know what else to help on this if this doesn't work.

Stuck here. Cleared cache and data multiple time. Its not auto detecting Google verification code somehow.

So it finally showed you the menu but it won't verify. I'm just not sure what else to do to help.
This might help even though it is for a Google 4 phone it could potentially work in this situation. If not then hope someone else could check and help on this.

NOT able to send or receive picture messages!!!

I am currently using a stock everything 6p with a Verizon sim for some strange reason today I'm not able to send or receive pictures on the stock messaging app. I read a few other people been having this same issue. Has anyone found the solution yet?
Are you using pushbullet by chance?

Couple of things. 1 check to see if you connected to LTE, You cannot send MMS over wifi on Verizon. They took that feature out, dont know why. Second, Check to see if there any old MMS that are stuck, its good idea to delete all old MMS that are pending to be sent and retry.
Someone else posted something similar the other night, they had one of those old MMS stuck in resizing. He deleted that message and his MMS started working again.
I have a similar problem since I updated to Verizon Message version 6.06. I could not go back to the last version, and I was unable to find the prior version APK file; however, Amazon had a very old version of Verizon Message, so I loaded that and it fixed the issue. I was also able to use the stock message app to get and send MMS, but with Verizon's app I could not.

Hi, without trying to hijack the thread, why solid this be an issue? I am having trouble with my s5 cm 13 alpha and assumed it was because of that, but does pushbullet affect it?

I had trouble with my 6p sending MMS. After googling it, I found people with the same issue and quite a few had pushbullet installed and said that once they uninstalled it, it worked fine. Once I uninstalled it, MMS started working again.

This happened to me the other day. I tried turning data on/off, airport mode on/off, restarting the device, clearing data&cache from the Messages application as well as reverting Messages to factory and reinstalling the updates.
Either by chance or by one/all of those things, it seemed to clear up.
This is not just Verizon, it's happening to T-Mobile also but I don't think it's a carrier issue. My nexus 5 does the same thing as my 6p. Rebooting the phones and it starts working again. This affects group messaging also. When I receive a group text it days unable to download. Restart they phone and it comes through. Hopefully this is a marshmallow issue that will hey fixed ota.
It's the app. Mostly happens to me when WiFi is connected with "WiFi calling" enabled. I disable WiFi and reboot the phone and then everything works again. It happens to me once in every month, if that. Don't bother me much.

Can't receive MMS-pulling my hair out

Hopefully someone can provide me a solution to this headache of a problem. I was on straight talk (at&t) and I stopped receiving MMS messages. I tried every APN configuration I could find and none worked. I installed a different rom and they worked for a while and stopped. I decided to try out project fi so I didn't try a new sim. I also restored to stock for a fresh start. My Fi service started today and I'm still not able to receive MMS messages. Sending them works fine as far as I can tell. I called Google and none of their solutions worked and they told me the port can take time to fully go through. While I was waiting for the port to complete I used my straight talk sim on my one plus 2 and did receive a picture during that time. Is it possible that the problem is with the phone itself? Does anyone have any other solutions I can try? Dialing some set of symbols and numbers to get into additional phone settings or anything like that? This is driving me crazy! Thank you for any advice that you can provide me!

I've heard that some add blocking apps can screw with mms. Have one of those installed?
I had a similar problem on AT&T. I fixed it by deleting any unneeded APNs and using the stock "Messenger" app. I use to use SMS Go Pro but it failed to send any MMS texts. It worked fine on my Nexus 5. Also using Google Hangouts didn't work.

I tried that with straight talk too without success. With Fi there are no APN settings. I'm using the stock messenger app as well. One other thing is that I can send myself a picture and it goes through, which is weird. I can't figure out why I can send but not receive. Thank you!

Have you tried Textra as your messaging app? They have mms settings where the wifi turns off temporarily when sending or receiving a message. I had a little trouble with mms, and then I set my apn to Ipv4/ Ipv6 and implemented the wifi fix in Textra. There are also other settings for Project Fi in the advanced settings.

I hate to resurrect a dead thread, but I'm having this issue too. Removing ADM as a Device Admin, deleting extra APN's, adding chrome as the default browser, and only using Messenger did not help. Then I noticed that when my phone first turned on, I would send and receive any MMS messages that were trying to download or send at the time of the reboot. So I wondered if another app was messing with the MMS function. So I downloaded aSpotCat to see what had permissions to SMS functions, and went into Settings -> Apps and disabled the SMS permission from each app other than stock Google. Rebooted. Testing now. I'm going to try pulling some logcats this weekend when I find the time.
--edit--
for what it's worth, with all but the stock apps having the SMS permission blocked, after a reboot, about 15 minutes in I am able to send / receive MMS messages now. I lost the ability after about 2 minutes after boot prior to this. I'll keep testing, and re-enable the permissions later to see if I can replicate the problem and pull a logcat.
Full list of apps I had installed requesting SMS permissions (the ones in red I disabled):
Amazon Shopping
Contacts
Google App
Google Play services
Google Play Store
Hangouts
Messenger
RingPack
ROM Toolbox Pro
Snapchat
Tasker
Titanium Backup
I also had TrueCaller and AT&T Visual Voicemail Viewer, but I just uninstalled those

MMS Send Receive Issues

I've noticed some issues since the update where MMS on both Send/ Receive are "Stuck"
Either the message never sends and times out, or the message shows receiving but it doesn't arrive.

Make sure your APN is right. Usually the default APN the phone generates is good but might not be the same as what ATT recommends

Thanks. Im reading aATT Nextgenphone which is what ive always used.
I saw something about the UK needing an MMS update for similar issues.
Is the person that's sending a MMS sending from a Samsung phone? I heard it's because of the advance messaging setting in the SMS app that Samsung uses. They'll have to turn it off apparently. I haven't tested it but I started researching this issue today because I'm not getting all of my texts in a group chat. I've noticed 2 numbers has a Samsung device

Interesting. I think they were Samsung's. Although I sent one yesterday and it went through as expected.
It seems inconsistent
Exact same issue started happening to me after the December update. I"m on AT&T as well. APN is correct, tried deleting unused APN's still no good. I can't even send a photo/mms to myself unless I toggle Airplane mode or reboot the phone.
I can confirm turning off advanced messaging in a Samsung messaging app works. My girlfriend has a Samsung s7 active, I turned that **** off because we're in a group text and I never got her message. It always shows a download failed. Today, I did a group text again and now I receive her messages. Damn you Samsung ... Or is it Google , either way that's the only solution I can think of.
It happens when I receive mms messages from iphone's as well.

Issues with a now unlocked Sprint S7

After calling Sprint the phone is now unlocked and I'm using it with Cricket. I've removed what I can of the Sprint bloat but it's there (this phone is not rooted). The issue I have is that I can not receive or send MMS messages while on wi-fi. I've tried every APN setting I could find online and talked to Cricket but I'm still stuck here with my thumb up my ass.
I'm a new/old Android user and I'm sure some of you on here know your stuff so I'm deferring to you on this because I don't know what to do. My only hunch is that it being a Sprint S7 is ****ing with things and making some stuff not work (wi-fi calling doesn't work/isn't an option on the phone).

Have you tried a messaging app besides the stock one?
On Oreo, cricket and reddit have been no help. Not trying to use a 3rd party app, though.

Hi,
Is "Carrier Services" installed on your Oneplus 8 Pro.
It's Installed on mine, but I don't know if it was there by default, or if it cames when I restored from previous phone.
Thanks for your answers
There by default. I disable it
Wasn't installed on my IN 2025. I also checked Google Messages to see if RCS was working - it wasn't. After I installed Carrier Services from the Play Store, I was able to get RCS to work.
So no, not installed by default on mine.
Ok, thanks.

Install RCS and launch Google Messages. It should be under Settings -> Chat Features
If it says it's unavailable, then clear the cache and data of the Messages app and try again.
Just remember you need to be in a country and have a carrier that supports RCS.
