Cal lme crazy but I MUCH prefer plastic over glass. I love the plastic back. the matte finish is amazing. it doesn't break either.
it feels great in the hand, tho the front screen feels a little cheap due to the uneven bezels but eh.
I just upgraded my dead S7 to the S20 FE 5G. Does it feel "different" from my S7? Yes. I've read some reviews (where even the reviewer gave it to his wife to hold without saying anything) where they said it feels "cheap". I do not feel that way at all. It doesn't feel "cheap" to me. To me, that feeling is subjective at best.
But overall, I'm very pleased with this device. Of course, coming from my S7 of 6+ years (which was getting very slow), the S20 feels so much faster and smoother. I'm sure the 120hz refresh helps, but so many of the other features this phone has just renewed my joy in having a smartphone again. The S7 turned into just another device that I had, but now, with the S20 (even though it's been almost 2 years since it was first released), has just made having a mobile phone fun again for me. And coming from an S7 (with the glass back, etc), this new phone does not feel "cheap" to me.
I'm not disparaging those that feel that way, but just makes me wonder if they're used to having high-end devices that many of us refuse to spend over $1K on a phone for. Again, coming from an S7 to this, I do not feel like I've taken a step down. And for the price ($600), I think this is a great deal. Sure, it's only slated to get one more OS upgrade to Android 13, but then, I made my S7 last for 6+ years, and that's how I am. I'm not the type that upgrades my device every 2 to 3 years. I use my devices until they die.
I do miss a glass back, but out of all the plastic "premium" backs, this is the best in both feel and look.
It do make the phone lighter compared to glass though.
The screen touch feels fine, perfect sensitivity (a little too sensitive but just slight), the buttons have a nice feel and the aluminum frame is a nice touch.
All in all, nothing special (all phones with the same specs of material will feel the same) but out of the budget phones, this is the "premium" feel

It doesnt feel as good as the Honor 8 in my opinion. The Honor 8 felt much better quality, more substantial in the hand feel.
I liked the design change from S8 to Note 8. I don't mean the screen being more squared but I mean the metal frame wise.
Also have noticed some sort of stain up on the top of the phone where the earpiece and modules go. Not sure if it's the oleophobic layer. It doesn't look good on top of already having usb port charging issues.

I had 3 really small stains/specks in oleophobic layer on my phone. It was barely visible, but it really bothered me that my new super expensive phone isn't perfect. Took it to the Samsung service center and they replaced it the same day for new one.

Wow really ? Thank you for telling me. The nearest Samsung customer service center is not that close to me and I read that they don't replace smartphones bought online through Samsung...?
I am thinking of doing the same because of that ugly stain and the usb port charging issues. I'm using the original charger that came in the box and I plug it into the phone and it drops and picks up the charge and doesn't fast charge and it stays on regular charging. Which is getting inconvenient.
I have no idea about online purchases. I bought mine through reseller (alza.cz). But I went directly to Samsung service center. They gave me a paper for my reseller saying that they have to replace it. It went super smooth. I had new phone the same day I went to the service center.

My last note was a 3 and loved the size and feel of that at the time. Despite the plastic build, it still felt very premium to me. Since then I've had Xperia's and Galaxy S devices, which I really enjoyed and told myself their smaller screens were actually more sensible, but now I have the Note8, I definitely prefer the larger display and everything about it just feels quality in the hand. I do use skins, cases and screen protectors for peace of mind, but find myself every now and then taking the phone out "naked" to enjoy it in it's full glory! Compared to the Galaxy devices, I prefer the squarer design also.
I don't mean to revive a stalled thread. But I've got both the note 8 which I just bought this week and an iPhone X I've been using since release. I enjoy both devices quite alot. Tho to me the iPhone feels more premium. It's got a better weight to it and the stainless steel is quite good looking. However the note 8 still feels quite good also. I wish it had more heft to it and used a better metal than just aluminum but aside from that it's very good. Especially the massive screen, which is quite stunning.

By far the Note8 is the finest device i ever had. Construction and materials are top notch and the screen is something outstanding. I already had a bunch of devices but never had a Note series. My last one was a Pixel XL that died in january 1st. I purchased a S8+ and stay with it for two weeks until i sold to my brother. Bought the Note8 and now i'm fully satisfied.
Device is great, S-pen is great, the feeling in my hand is great. In overall Samsung did a awesome job with Note8
The frame on the note 7 is far better, but everything else besides that is great.
And oh, try sniffing your spen when its freshly removed from the spenhole.
Slick as the glass it was made with. Slightly bland, slightly boring, but solid and heavy feel.
While I do miss the design of the Note 4, which I believe is the best designed Note that Samsung ever put out. The Note 8's construction is not that bad

Smaller than iPhone 7 Plus despite much larger display, rounded corners, thin - ergonomy is sublime
A bit slippery but very ligjtweight and thin, subtlely rounded corners help substantially with in hand feel
The title reminded me of Flossy Carter whenever he gets to that part of his review. "It feels good in the hand"
Being thinner with rounded edges but wider, it actually feels better than my Nexus 5X. Bezel-less design is a real upgrade for me for screen size, not to mention the better hand feel. Just have to get used to the lower home button with no bezel!
Felt kind of sticky on the back when I first got mine. Thought it was my hands, but after washing them and wiping the phone down it was mostly still the same. Seems it has gotten better a bit over the past couple days though. Maybe some sort of coating on the glass on the back they did to try to make it a little less slippery?
Anyways over all the form factor itself is amazing!!! Feels good in the hand! I never would have dreamed I would buy a 6 inch display phone. But it is even a smidge smaller than my one plus 5 with a half inch smaller display! Anyone who likes 5.5 inch display phones will love this form factor. Plus the slightly curved edges give it even a better feel in the hand.
I give it a 9 out 10 for ergonomics.
Love that I can use a bulky. Safer case and still feel as if it's very thin and light in hand.

How about premium feel? My last phones in the exact order were/are ip7 -> op3t -> op5 -> ip7+ and I would say that all of them maybe except op3t have what I define as premium feel. I wanted to hear your thoughts since you mentioned you have OP5, which considering its price tag is greatly built with premium feel.
I actually cancelled my first order of V30 from South Korea, since I would not be able to cope with the fact that device, which considering all shipping costs, VAT/customs duties, would end up costing me 1000 USD, would feel cheap in hand. I will wait for it to become freely available and buy it then for ~600-700 USD.. BTW, LG has the craziest price drops - LG G6 when first became available (April, 2017) was going for 800-900 EUR . Today I can buy new LG G6 for 370 EUR. Crazy!

All the devices you listed are phones that have the outside body mostly made out of some sort of metal. So if you are equating metal with premium, then you probably won't think it feels very premium. However over all the build quality is excellent!!! No gaps, no mismatched seams, and very solid feeling. If you like phones with a glass back and metal sides, then you will love the feeling of this phone. Personally I do slightly prefer the metal feeling of the OnePlus5, but the premium feeling on this phone is still really great too.
So yes, as long as you like glass backed phones, extremely premium feeling. It's highly unlikely you'll be disappointed if you like glass backed phones.
From V20 to V30. Its much better in the hand, not as large and yet it has the slightly bigger screen size. It is the best Lg I've had in terms of build quality too.
G6 feels way way better in hand. More solid design for sure. Mind you I own both

Went from the LG V20 to the s8 plus to the oneplus 5 to the HTC U11 to the note 8 to the iPhone 8 plus back to the note 8 then to the iPhone X back to the note 8 then the Pixel XL 2 and now the LG V30. Ergonomically speaking I have to say it's a toss up between this phone and the iPhone X. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised.

Feels like a $1000 phone. Sturdy, tight, and sleek. Moto makes great use of rounded backs and corners to make their phones feel great in the hand.
Agree with everything but also want to add that I love how the phone feels cold when you pick it up
The shiney smooth back is actually grippier than I would have expected. Overall it feels very nice.
I have a few small (SMALL) quirks about the device that are a little bothering if I think about them, but it's mostly just me nit-picking. The model number is printed on a light color font on the bottom, between the headphone jack and USB-C. It's kinda weird to be seeing a font where there almost shouldn't be. The SIM card is on top of the phone, which is a little weird to me. The breaks in the phone where the antennas are (2 on bottom, 1 on top) are a little disjointing if you notice them. The volume-up-down are a little harder to click than I would like (but that's probably a good thing to avoid accidental clicks). And lastly, 2 of the 3 microphones (the ones on the front and back) seem to be more noticeable than I expected. It was actually one of the first things I noticed when I first took it out of the box, and turned it around to look at the smooth back.
As I said, these are nit-picks. Overall, it's a very well built phone, sturdy, and very pleasant to use. Would highly recommend.

Let me be the first (likely of many) to warn that Lenovo-rola is notorious for crap quality. The phone's have some awesome features, but quality bites, their support is so bad they got sued (Gerard Gibbs) over it. My g5 plus is the last Moto device I will ever buy.

Apparently you got a bad one or else the g5 plus is a way worse build than the x4. Best quality phone I've ever owned, feels premium, very solid quality!

Love the phone. The contour glass is beautiful, and not as slippery as I thought when reading reviews. Have not had a problem since I bought it in October. The only thing is the amazon Alexa and the camera. I felt like the original moto x did a way better job with voice commands than Alexa. The camera is fine, just wish that they made the bump smaller. But the weight and feel of the phone itself is awesome compared to others with a higher price. Give it a 8 out of a 10
I had a G5 Plus, and for a plastic phone, the build quality was extremely good. It was up there with any plastic Samsung phone I've ever handled. The X4 is much higher quality, though. It really does feel like a phone that costs twice as much. I think it's a little slippery, though, so I keep it in a case.

these cheap aluminium rear gets easily dented and scratched even over a period of few weeks. They're built only to last for months. Then they'd expect us to buy the next Note 6 model. lol.

Last 4 of my phones were made from aluminium, and all of them scratched just the same, that is quite easy. That includes expensive devices like Nexus 6P. Thats just how aluminium is..

I was REALLY NEEDING to change my phone and I found this device totally closed (plastics included covering the box) for only 3k Mexican pesos (around 120 us dollars) on a sale.. the quality - price relationship of this device it's unreachable guys. Aluminum doesn't feel cheap at all, it's robust, you can feel that it's really well built, big battery and huge screen built in a very ergonomic and economic device. Very good one by Xiaomi, definitely my favorite brand of smartphones.
Coming from a Galaxy S4 materials dont feel bad at all, and it is far, FAR sturdier feeling than the S4. The aluminium is just the way it is, but I've felt that the power button does lose some of the clickyness after a couple months.

Looks and feels premium. But the display came with a small blip in the side on the glass. Couldn't unsee it after finding it out so ended up with a tempered glass and the ungainly white border.
It feels very high quality especially coming from the Poco. I've used naked for a while but found the back and front glass scratches very easy compared to the metal body (aluminium?).
I suggest using at least the standard case and getting some sort of screen protection.
It's feels very nice in hand and not slippery at all. Overall for, sd855, pop up camera, amoled, fast charge, metal glass sandwich design the list goes on, I'm struggling to find where they cut corners or how they even made profit off this amazing phone.
Finish is good and I used the standard case from the start along with some screen cover. The hard screen cover is not very good as the phone's screen actually has a radius near the bevel and the hard screen cover does not conform to the curve..I will try a soft cover when (if?) I can be bothered.
I have since changed cover as I ordered it before I realised the phone came with one.. my after market cover covers the top and bottom of the phone more than the stock one and is softer.
When I first got the phone it felt heavy but is only about 50 grams heavier than my last phone with almost identical dimensions. But now I have grown to enjoy the extra weight.. it doesn't cause issues in my pocket.. all in all very satisfied with the ergos of this phone
A shame that they used that poor vibration motor that makes it feel as cheap as the redmi note 4x (only thing I could compare it to). They should've chosen haptic feedback motors instead.
The rest seems fine, apart from the design blunder of the camera setup, but it's not as big of a deal compared to an upside down screen (looking at you, oneplus 5).
Software wise, it's completely cr**, full of bugs and broken things, it just doesn't work well (miui 11). Thing is, I don't really want to move to a custom android rom as miui has some neat features, like the scrolling screenshot, the whole applock and apphide with the home page gestures. Most of those custom implementations just don't feel as good as stock, so I'm staying on miui 11 in the hope that the next update will bring a lot of fixes. I tried MiRoom, but that one is even worse, with apps partially being chinese, system launcher FC after a clean install, etc.
For that price it's great. Sandwich made out of glass and aluminium feels good and the screen is pretty good.
