Why I already sent my Note 20 Ultra back! - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Guides, News, & Discu

Well I am honestly shocked by this. I sort of expected the S20 Ultra not to meet my standards but not the Note 20 Ultra! Decided to stick with my Note 10+ for a bit until maybe Z Fold 2 or Note 20 Ultra drops in price or for another who knows how long.
Anyways thought I would share with you guys why I decided to stick with Note 10+ over the Note 20 Ultra.
First off the Note 20 Ultra is nowhere near a bad phone, much of an improvement over the S20 Ultra which I thought was junk. The main highlights of the device just didn't seem worth $1300+ to me.
Screen overall is literally just a hair bigger and actually a hair less vibrant and saturated then the Note 10.
Screen refresh rate still not sure why this is such a huge deal. Can you tell a difference? Yes slightly depending on what you are doing. Sort of like 4k on a tablet or small laptop really just not worth it imo
Cameras, oh yes the cameras. Glad to see the autofocus issue was fixed from the S20 Ultra and photos are great no matter what camera but the main sensor unless you are using the 108 mp for extreme detail and then you lose HDR look very similar to the Note 10. Only huge difference is the zoom lens on the Ultra and it is a big one. 5x zoom looks great and even 10x in most cases looks very good and usable. This is the only thing that made me actually want to keep the 20
Everything else is pretty much the same again as Note 10+ nothing else worth mentioning really
Few photos of the differences in whites and camera bumps and the pretty much same screens

I still love my note 10 even after sending the ultra back. No regrets besides Samsung still hasn't issued me credit! Says they didn't receive phone smh

ok boomer

If i had the 512gb note 10 plus instead of 256 I may not have got the note 20 ultra either (did get 512gb on it) since i just basically needed the extra storage.
Note 10 plus is such a great device honestly and the 20 may have some advantages but its by no means a huge upgrade. More like a baby step upgrade lol.

You're also forgetting the 80% less latency time with the pen. So for me, that with huge camera improvements and 120hz refresh was a no brainer for me trading in my S10+. I notice the 120hz. It's a pretty big difference compared to 60hz Samsung panels.
Its not just the refresh rate increased but the touch response rate was increased a lot too. Samsung's touch response in on their 60hz displays just always seemed laggy to me.
On a side note the haptics are the best I have ever felt in a Samsung phone. On par with some of the best. I also love matte/frosted back phones too. Feels so good in the hand.
You are right about the vivid color saturation. I noticed that being a less too. I actually wrote an entire thread about it here. Now that I have the phone manually adjusting it 1 notch cooler in display settings and keeping manual brightness around 85-90% has resolved that for me.
So do you plan to wait for the Note 30? Or likely to get something else before that?

I understand why he's returning it. So far, I'm underwhelmed this year. And I've had a note every single year they made one.

Agree with your overall assessment, Samsung should have offered more colors in 512GB as that would have encouraged some Aura Glow users to bite for the upgrade. Can't believe no eSIM support(yet) either on the US model

Touch response should be the same as last year right? It was an improvement over s10 but note 10 I think.
I've never had a laggy flagship but I also disable a lot of stuff and have an unlocked unbranded one so that might help as well
I will give you haptics they felt very good, not that the other devices Samsung makes are bad it felt like an upgrade for sure. $1300 one though no lol
Screen color is weird not sure what's going on there and maybe I will get a fold 2 or keep waiting who knows

Yeah I don't understand why the regular model went down from 256gb to 128gb. That makes no sense to me either and why can't I get a red one like India or wherever. They need to have more options in storage and colors.

I'm super concerned about this battery bit right off the bad. Getting worse results than my 1 year note 10+ that hadn't been factory reset in a long time. It appears the cpu never sleeps cores and 5g chews through a lot at the same time. So if I want the same battery life as my 10+ I have to shut off 5g and lock resolution to 60hz middle setting. After that, it might as well be a note 10 with a battery mod.

Nope its 240hz. Direct quote from GSM Arena review....
"This one comes with 240Hz touch sampling too for speedier detection of touch input."
https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note20_ultra_5g-review-2149p3.php
I believe all 60hz display Samsung phones were 120hz touch sampling before. Either way they were less than 240hz before.
But yeah the color profile is really the only issue I have with his phone. Although its not bad enough for me to return it. Especially since I love everything else so far.
If I keep it at 90% manual brightness, on vivid, with the color temp scale 1 notch cooler its improved. But its still not quite as good color profile as the One Plus 8 Pro I also have. Still good enough for now while I hope they put out a software update to tweak the color calibration of the vivid display mode.

Yeah so it looks like s20 and note 10 are 120hz so pretty decent so incremental improvement there each year. How's your battery life been? I can't say much as the couple days I used it didn't seem great but that doesn't mean anything. My note 10 is on its 14 hour and still at 44% battery left!! Don't think the note 20 would be able to top that

I can't say for sure yet. But it seems good. Well into the good category for me. Certainly not excellent, but good.
Keeping it 90% brightness, haptics on, FHD @ 120hz adaptive, light theme, and my first full day today I got about 6.25 hours of SOT over course of about 16 hours.
I didn't take a screen shot, but plan to do more accurate monitoring over next couple days since I been so busy setting it up and exploring settings.

I got 7 hours of screen on time. That's pretty impressive! I was upset with battery life but today was awesome.
120 Hz
Mix of wifi and mobile data
Lots of pictures
Couple hours of YouTube
Auto brightness
Always on display on always show
Light theme on system, some apps dark themed
Normal day, honestly - so 7 hours was excellent!

Ok good that seems pretty good then!!

heres mine from 95% to 1%

Yes the color profile is awful. I need to trade in my note 8 which looks much more sharp and vivid.
So after speaking to Samsung and their sub repair shop. I have heard the following.
The display may have different tint because of the new gorilla glass, also there's a built in blue light filter to protect user eyes beside the one that u can toggle and last most of these emoled displays developing ghosting effect after long period of usage at hight brightness. Something that Samsung probably considering as it will be costly to start changing them for people who complains.
I have replaced twice on edge 7 and s8 phones.

cool story bro. I'm keeping my new phone.

Got my N20U 3 days ago, coming from a Mate 10 Pro. What a disappointment the Exynos version of this phone is.
Doing basic tasks like writing this very comment while a YouTube video is playing in the background heats the device up so much that I want to put it down again. The performance is fine if you set your screen to 120Hz, but that also drains your battery faster than anything else (and heats it up even more, yay!). 3h of SOT is a ****ing joke. Sure the S-Pen is responsive, the screen is nice, the device is snappy and rarely has any problems with things you throw at it, One UI is One UI, but is it worth the money? Absolutely not. Especially not if you have a Note 10+ or similar.
Don't even get me started on the camera. Capturing something at 4x zoom looks like a Van Gogh painting.
Second and last time I'm trying Samsung. Stay away from Exynos if you can.

I am between 2 and 3 hours of screen-on time and battery is at 70%. This is getting better by the day! Snapdragon here, but it was not nearly this good initially. Got over 7 hours of screen on time yesterday and today is looking to beat that!

My battery life has been pretty solid. I had the s20 ultra and the battery life on that was a hair better I think. In between these two phones I had the OnePlus 8 pro and the battery life on that was atrocious for some reason. So it has been a breath of fresh air to get great battery life again, lol.

My only gripe is no esim/nano dual sim. That was the main reason why I switched from Note 10+ after being told those features were present in the US model.

:highfive: congrats to those who have it early.
so tell us what you think about it, the feel on the hand, how fragile does it look and feel (is it slippery like the sony phones with glass, grippy?) , hows the performance of the camera, screen, battery, etc.
It's only been half a day but my early impressions are as follows,
-Fingerprint scanner is wicked fast.
-Screen is beautiful
-It is fast fast fast. I love Samsung devices and I admit that lag was always an issue. I have not been able to slow it down yet. Really I havent. Lol. Even the recent app switcher is fast.
-Like the themeing a lot. I can't wait for more themes.
-Feels good on the hand. The edge does make it a bit different to hold but I love the curved screen. Makes using the phone a pleasure.
-I have only taken a couple pictures but they turned out great. More on that later.
I'm sure I'll have more as the days pass..
I played with the phone in a T mobile store. For about 20 minutes battery was down to 93% from 100%.,Power hungry. Could you guys confirm?
Also I found the browser cannot hide the status bar hence no full screen browsing. Please also confirm this?
S6 edge in the bestbuy which is unbranded has no ability to sort the menu alphabetically. But T mobile edge has an option to sort.
You're correct on the status bar. Too early to know on the battery. The option to sort might have come in the software update that dropped today. Not sure though.
does this look like the edge to u? i think phonearena made a mistake

Yup, that an Edge, and damn did she slam that hard! Good to know it can survive what she just did, lol.
From a performance point of view there is no doubt in my mind the Edge is going to be great, the only doubt is battery life... I realise its a bit early for conclusions yet but once people have used their phones for a week or so, its the questions that everyone wants answering. Everyone's use patterns are different but as long as I can make it through a heavyish day ok, I'll be happy with that.

It's battery is only 7% less in capacity than S5, so I see no reason why battery life would be extremely different. The screen has higher res, but CPU is much more power efficient.

Yes...still, I'd rather yes some real numbers from someone who actually has the phone. We know very little about its battery performance yet, and I have seen mixed reviews with some saying its good and others poor.
I should just say that I have the phone pre ordered and I'm looking forward to getting it, battery is the only doubt I have...I'd just like to see some numbers and I think most other people would too.

I have pre-ordered it as well, but it is still 2 weeks before shipping. We will all see in due time. People in the US are already getting theirs, so we should have some info within a week as batteries start working normally after a few charges.
Also could you guys confirm available free memory?
I went to Best Buy yesterday to get a look at the S6 edge. Needless to say, I was very impressed. Touchwiz seems lightning fast compared to 4.3 on my S4. The shortcuts and ease of access really convinced me to buy this (when green comes along). The edge display looks absolutely amazing and does, in fact, feel more immersive. I love the metal frame and the new headphone jack location. Basically, this thing looks and feels all-around perfect. The black looks BLACK in person, whereas online it gave me the belief that it was a deep-blue. Don't know if I want to settle for the white 32GB or wait a month or two in hopes of the green appearing.

Eh, you forgot to mention that the screen was actually more efficient, too. Not only is it 14nm, the screen is like 23% more efficient than the screen on the Note 4, iirc.

I was not aware the screen would be more efficient with that much higher resolution, but that is a good thing to know as well. Might mean all this whining about smaller battery size is just for the sake of whining.
Thanks for your answers guys. Today again I walked into Best buy and T mobile stores to do my research more. What I found,
Battery: Yesterday when I played with the phone I suspected it to be Power hungry. But I think I should take it back. Battery is ok not bad after all. I am comparing with my LG G2(has a good battery, 3000mah) and I measured the time it takes to drop every %. S6 takes a little more time than the G2 to drop which tells me the battery is good. Also the picture below. I don't have an S5 so I can't really compare with that. I played a couple of games that were installed on the phone and the battery is still ok. This is by no means a scientific way of measuring, neverthless I wanted to share this with you guys.
Although I have chargers at home, car and work still a good battery(if not the best) gives a sense of confidence. and satisfaction that I have the best phone irrespective of all the breath taking features. Don't you agree?? S6 may not disappoint I believe.
Browser/Browsing: Browsing is a breeze. No sense of lag anywhere. But the status bar doesn't hide which I assume is a part of Lollipop. I would be curious to see if a dev can come up with a mod. A full screen immersive browsing on the S6 's beautiful screen would be super cool.
Youtube/Video: Flawless like its predecessors. Nothing special to mention.
Music: Flawless sound like its predecessors. No distortion. Sound is very clean with the headphones. I listen to a lot of Music and sound quality is very important for me. When I played the music on speaker I felt some vibration I wonder what that is??? I wonder if it is the speaker giving the vibration.
Menu:Arrangement of the apps in the menu is nice and simple although I would prefer the icons to be a little smaller. T mobile phones come with an option to sort alphabetically. AT&T don't have the phone for display yet(Slackers:crying so can't tell. All in all I like this new menu. No complaints.
GPS: I didn't spend a lot of time here but I thought it locked quick enough. Nothing special and no complaints.
Screen Quality : I thought the screen is much better than S5 (in the store) and on par with the note 4. But my G2 has a different color temperature which I believe make whites look a little bluish where as S6 whites are yellowish. To me both are ok. But I really have to admit the additional pixels on S6 make no difference in picture quality (S6 vs G2). Really a 1080p screen would have been enough. To clarify I am not complaining, just my opinion. Viewing angles are good unlike G2 (LG's for that matter).
I have to tell you, normal people passing by with no phone knowledge would stop by and take a glimpse at the edge screen, They all seem to like it. Seems like edge is getting all the attention it deserves.
Build/Design: This is where S6 edge outshines every other phone in the market. In my opinion, till date this the best design ever period. I have seen some complaints about finger prints. It is not bad after all. Looks like white takes less finger prints than others. Excellent build quality and feels solid in hands. Thums up.
Single handed use: It can be used single handed with no issues. Menu is set up for single hand use which I really like. Although my hand is not very big it fit nicely in my hand. Not sure about the non-edge S6. Should be the same.
Speed This is one thing that is very crucial. All android phones I used so far tend to be fast initially but as I go adding/deleting apps and other files phone tends to get laggy. It really gets on my nerves. But even as a brand new phone they stutter at times. But with S6 it is blazing fast. No lag anywhere (at least I did not see). App drawer is a little slow to open. Samsung probably configured it to be slower on purpose. Some might misunderstand it to be a lag, just a heads up. Speed speed speed is what it is.
Camera: I need not specially tell you about the camera. There are expert reviews which claim this to be the best camera. Flawless. Double press on the menu opens the camera in split seconds which is very impressive.
I care less about the heart rate sensor so did not test it. Although I care about finger print scanner I could not test it because it is not my phone.
This is a big leap forward not just for Samsung but for android as a whole.
I was disappointed about the battery yesterday but liked it today and took some time to test all the features. I like the phone, will get one. White Color 32gb. AT&T.

Did you regret buying the S8+ ?

I saw lot of people complaining about the S8 plus, some are saying the phone is very fragile, others doesnt like at all the new screen ratio, aggressive RAM management....etc
Well i'm curious and want to know if the S8 plus is really a flop, how is your experience with this device ?
I love mine. Some things are a bit annoying (The swipe feature on the keyboard is extremely inaccurate, every so often the phone will pause while loading an app for a few seconds) but no phone is perfect, the S8+ is close though.

Well ......
I own the device for about a week and I have to say that it covers almost all of my needs but:
1. The battery life is worse than the S7 Edge or 1+3T (at least for me)
2. S8+ feels a little bit boring after a while
Overall, I didn't regret at all since it is nearly perfect

The built in swipe keyboard is horrible, ended up putting gboard on it.
NO, not a single issue with it so far and had it since day one. I believe a lot of the issues can be attributed to user and not the phone.
Don't think I regret it, but the only reason I switched from my iPhone 6S Plus is because I was bored.
Usability and speed (Other than the occasional Android lag) is about the same for my use. (Emails, messaging and like 1 game, FateGO)
So I feel like the money I paid for what I gained isn't exactly proportionate, but it's been a while since I used Android as my main phone, so I decided to jump back for a bit. it's been good.
Having to worry about screen protectors that fit my case is dumb tho.
Also smart unlock with my Bluetooth headphones makes up for the fingerprint scanner being on the back of android phones.
I'm not crazy about the waterfall screen but I'm getting used to it.
Otherwise I love it. Picked it up for$725 can't go wrong at that price

This is the best phone I ever had. The FD version seems to be the worst, tho coz the battery life is not as amazing as F or U version, but still get me thru the day. But android is boring me somehow. im willin to change to iphone again. After 7 years on adnroid, i want to try ios

Hmmm NOPE.. Lol
I came from a v20 and that was a bad phone and I regret ever getting the phone. I decided to give Samsung a try, even though I hated Samsung. I got the Exynos version and boy do I love it! Although it has the pink/red hue on the sides, I don't notice it after a while using it. I did minimize it by changing the display colors a little bit.
Over all I love it. It's super fast on AT&T and I'm able to root. So far LOVE it!.
I'm not regretting buying the phone at all. Everything works great, the speaker is really loud and im averaging around 6 1/2 to 7 hours of SOT at 3/4 brightness. I bought the G955U1 Snapdragon US unlocked version and I actually got one with a perfect screen without the red hue. I wish it were the old aspect ratio as I really wanted a larger device but I can live with the size. If the new Note is larger when it comes out I'll probably give the S8+ to the wife and get the Note but only if it's around a 6.5 incher or larger.

This isn't true at all. FD version is quite good on battery. I've gone all day on this. SOT about 7 hours.
Sort of. The screen of 8+ is so minute compare to my 6.8" Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra. Am thinking going back to Zenfone 3 Ultra now. Other than this I think its a good phone to keep though.
I have had mine a week today, about to go back to the store with it as it has the redish tint down each side of the screen and its driving me nuts! Even after playing with the settings i still feel like I can see it. I have come from a 6P and to be honest the 2 things i really miss is the width of the 6P, the keyboard was a bit more spaced out and i made less mistakes with my fat fingers... the 2nd thing is the updates direct from google...I was running the Android O beta on it... and now i am running 7.0?! I did look at the Pixel XL when making my choice but it just felt like a step back when you stood in front of the S8 and Pixel, i mean - no wireless charging which i have to say is one of the best features for me with this phone, i have wireless charging points at home and work and so i never run out of power and it is so quick!

Had Note 8 (VZW) for 48 hours now coming from GS8 - best Android phone I've ever used

I've never owned a Note but I've owned countless Android devices and iPhones too. I got my VZW pre-ordered Note 8 on Tuesday and have been using it a lot since then. This is by far the best phone (Android or not) I've ever used especially in terms of out of the box experience.
Coming from an S8 some thoughts:
- Super smooth and animations don't stutter at all - not sure how much of this has to do with 6GB of RAM and Android 7.1.1 (GS8 has 7.0)
- AMAZING multitasking - finally. My average free RAM has remained about 1.5GB (60-70% used) the last 48 hours. Apps that I haven't used for over 24 hours are still in memory and even multitasking heavy apps like Facebook, Twitter, browsers, etc. is no problem. FINALLY!
- Battery life for my usage has always been so-so on the GS8 the best I could get was 3.5hrs for example. Yesterday I took my phone to work and used it for the whole day without charging (9 hrs) and had 2 hrs of screen on time - left work with 60% battery life! That is incredible for me personally since again I have not done anything to tweak or optimize - everything is on and I used it heavily.
- The screen (even coming from a GS8) is just breathtaking. The quality, brightness and colors are awesome. Outdoors it gets so bright that it almost looks like an e-ink display. HDR videos on Amazon and Netflix look really great
- Fingerprint sensor location is not great but it's fine for me coming from GS8
- Camera seems as good as GS8 but haven't used it as much as I would like yet
- Size is perfect, it's tall but the width is perfect for holding and the keyboard is super comfortable (GS8 felt too narrow)
If you have any questions feel free to ask below. Thanks and for those waiting, it's totally worth the wait
Thanks for all these tidbits! I have been concerned with the lack of excited posts from people who have received the phone - this is awesome to see!!
Especially excited about proper RAM management. Thank goodness Samsung has learned!
Also really glad to hear that scrolling is smooth and no stuttering. Stupid test model had me worried. Thanks again for this post, I am so relieved and even more excited now!
What's your screen resolution op?
Out of the box, i read on one of these android reviews that the highest screen resolution is not selected out of the box, in order to maintain better battery life.
Since you didnt tweak anything according to your post, i assume you did not adjust the screen resolution?
I'm getting the note8 today and the first thing i will do is enable the highest screen resolution and make sure the battery performance is set to highest performance.
This will be my first every Sammy product so im looking forward to it. I have an asus zenfone 3 deluxe special edition with 6gb max and half a terabyte of storage. Ther hardware in it is top shelf but the screen is no where near the resolution of the note 8.

Yes first thing I did was change to QHD resolution and I'm running at that since the first 5 mins of owning the phone. It does come at 1080p like the GS8 so I knew to change it. So I assume if you left it at 1080p it would be smoother, faster and last even longer!!

[ISSUES] Should I buy a Oneplus 6T?

Hi guys I must replace my Samsung S8 (Exynos).
In Italy the S9+ and the 6T have the same street price, so i’m trying to see both pro and cons
S9+
Pro
Wireless Charge
3.5mm jack
Better camera
Better HW support ( physical store )
Maybe better Value
Awesome Display
Cons
1yrs old phone
Big phone
Not sure about optimisation and bug fixing from Samsung
6T
Pro
New phone with Pie
Hope for a better software support and bug fixing
Cons
No 3.5mm jack
No wireless charge
I don’t know about hw assistance
Not so bright display
Less security (Knox)
I’m not a modder fan anymore and I always had Samsung devices, but i hate that for example with the s8 i must switch to 3G before put it in airplane mode unless I have big battery drain and this bug has never been solved by Samsung from Oreo. I don’t want to go with a stupid bugged device again.
So what issues related to OP6T are you experiencing? At the same price you will go for S9+ or OP6T? ( or save 100 bucks for a Mi8 or a S9?)
Thanks
Not sure what I can say about issues because I haven't found anything. But, I tell you my wife has an S9 and compared to this phone it has terrible battery life. My 6T lasts me a healthy and solid 2 days (right now starting day 3 with 40% left) but hers lasts like... 10 hours? Its on a charger alot.

Yes probably the S9 has an horrible optimisation, so that is why i’m On the 6T for the battery life and maybe on a S9+ instead of the S9.
For the screen is the 6T brightness so bad? Obviously compared to the S9? In the summer my S8 becomes so bright and readable never had issues.

Ciao! I'm on the same situation as you, can't decide between OP6T and S9+. I think I'll go with OP6T for the better software/software support and the better battery. As far as I know, support under warranty has hugely improved since the time of the OnePus One but if you want to be 100% safe you can buy it from MediaWorld here in Italy! I'll probably miss the headphone jack present on the S9+ but still I wouldn't buy a one year old phone just for that, also considering the low term software support Samsung gives.
I just got this phone on Friday and an LOVING it! It hold a charge seemingly forever, and the display is gorgeous. It's very smooth and snappy.

Yes I have been in a MW store but the phone was not available, I would like to try it especially because I don’t like big phones. In that scenario the Mi8 made me love it.

Thanks, are you able to compare the brightness under the sun with other phones?
Have you encountered any issue that is this forum threads like the deep sleep that kills the notification?
Coming from a Galaxy S9+
I have a Galaxy S9+ for work and a OP6t for personal use. I prefer the OP6t. No, the display is not quite as bright. However the colors and size are amazing and just as good as the Galaxy. The battery life is significantly better. I have to keep the Galaxy S9+ near a charger so it is topped off before I head out if the house. The OP last so long and charged so fast that I don't worry about it. Also the near stock os flies compared to Samsung's... Its not even close. I've been using wireless headphones for a while so that wasnt a big deal to me. I think it's only a matter of time before all manufacturers get rid of the headphone jack so I figured I'd take the plunge. The only things I miss at all on the OP are wireless charging and Samsung pay, but the OP experience is so much better that is worth it.

As you have both phones, would you say the Oneplus 6t is far behind the S9 regarding camera and picture quality?

As you have both could you test the screen quality about the dark scenes as Erica Griffin did https://youtu.be/YVk8bc-TV3Y (min 27.40)

Let me qualify this with that fact that I am not big picture taker so I likely haven't experienced a significant number of scenarios. With that said, is it behind, yes...is it FAR behind, no. It still takes really good pictures with the rear camera, at least for point and shoot. I haven't used the front facing camera, so I can't say for sure. Everything I've read (and doubtless you have too) says the front facing camera is crap. If it matters, it also doesn't have all of the AI/AR stuff that the Samsung camera does. I played with that on the Galaxy for about an hour and never used it again, but it may be important for some people.
I just sold my S9+ and got the 6T and I can't imagine going back. Camera isn't quite as good, but it's fine for my uses. Screen isn't quite as good, but with 20/20 vision I can't tell much of a difference. Definitely doesn't get as bright, but haven't had any issues with the max brightness. The 6T is tons faster and doesn't seem to big down like the S9+ does and the battery life is miles better. Can't imagine going back

Thanks man but from a screenshot is useless, it is shown as the same
I’ve seen from the Oneplus 6 review always from Erica that this shadow clipping effect is more affecting the S9 than the OP6.
But S8 was better than S9 on that so I hope that 6T doesn’t perform worse than 6
The image test is available in some display tester apps

6t. All-around better experience
Hi!
I have Huawei P20 Pro, and it is a good phone but I want to try out another phone. And I think about to change my P20 pro to OP 6 or 6t but just untill near October because I want to buy a Pixel 4, 4XL, OP 7t or galaxy note 10.
Firstly the camera is important feature for me, and I know p20 pro has a better camera than the 6 or 6t but those phones has ported gcam so how good is that gcam?
And battery, speakers and the software is important to me as well, OP always has a good battery life so it's ok, speakers is weaker than the speakers on the P20 pro. But the software is a key part of OP Oxygen OS is great and I like it, and it's way better than the Emui which is a **** for me I hate basicly everything in Emui
What do you think, is it worth to change my phone for this couple of months or I should wait for the Pixel 4 or OP 7t?
If the camera or speakers are most important to you, then wait. The op6t is ok on both counts but coming from the pixel camera and speakers, you'll be disappointed. The Google camera app doesn't significantly improve the camera imo.
Actually the camera is important but the software is the second most important thing the speakers just good to have a good one.
And what about the screen?
It's amoled on the OP, and the P20 pro. And both of them has fhd+ resolution.
But which phone has better color reproducion or the viewing angle?
I personally love the screen on the op6t. The resolution/pixel density isn't as high but I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter over a certain point. Something about the color saturation and white balance is pleasing imo.
If you got the money buy Note 9 or wait for... 10.

Why I am returning my S20 Ultra within 24 hours of receiving!

Let me preface this by saying I am picky about my phones and this is one of the worst I have seen in years! If you have an old phone I can understand some of the upgrade but here are my thoughts coming well staying with a Note 10+. Never bought and returned a phone this quick. Returning before it is even released on Friday!!
Let's start with the good, well somewhat......
Screen: Once again Samsung delivers a world class screen. Best in brightness, color accuracy, etc etc everything like normal that they always produce in their flagships. Now for the downsize, the infamous 120hz screen refresh rate. Not worth it here. Smoother scrolling, sure but barely. I honestly don't even mind the 1080p and 120 hz just the need for the 120hz on a phone is overkill. Was gaming smoother sure, do I game much on my phone, no not really. The 240 touch response I can tell more of a difference and a worthy difference then the 120 hz refresh
Processing power: Phone is fast, minus animations. Photo processing, night mode shots are a big difference. Much faster in that aspect. Wish we saw little more ram and more storage though at this price
Battery: 5000 mah in this device makes it a little thicker but in my short one day of use it stood up pretty well to transferring apps and everything over and hard use for a few hours last night. Couldn't kill it
and now the bad
Camera: throw all the numbers at it and it will be great.... well not so fast. Main shooter in 12 or 108 mp mode cannot focus on anything. Piece of paper on desk in front of you, good luck. Zoom a few feet away from you, also good luck. 5x/10x/30x zoom is better then Note 10+ of course but how often are you going to use this? Everyday? Once a week? Once a month? Still not great quality (usable) at 10x or 30x really so no point in my book. 5x is crisp but falls off too much after that for me to use. Wide angle is same as note so no real improvement here. Camera also seems to make everything more saturated then I like as well almost to the point of unrealistic. The one and only thing the iPhone can do well and the note seems to be closer to that realistic representation then the Ultra.
Design: not that the design is bad but feels a tad on the chunkier side. Rounder edges do help but does not feel as sleek as nice to hold as note or even s10. Thicker as well to house that battery and camera module. Also worried about how scratched the module bump will become after months of abuse.
UI: Let me first say I hate Android 10/Samsung UI 2.0, I am still using 9 and the Ultra reminded me why. App animations are slow (yes can fix in dev options but still), quick replying to text or message in status bar is not instant like prior android generations. Don't know if this is an android 10 or Samsung UI 2.0 problem but seems like it should be an upgrade not a downgrade
Price: $1400 is a lot even for 2020. That is also only for 128 gb and 12 gb ram model. So no upgrade to ram compared to Note and a loss of half the storage compared to entry level note. Plan was to trade in note 10+ and pay $800 and it isn't worth that tp be honest. Not even close. Only foreseeable upgrades are little brighter screen and zoom lens. The rest is a downgrade to me or the same.
I will continue to use note 10+ until Note 20 maybe? Needs to have something better for the money it is going to cost though

That's a fair assessment. From testing out an S20 Ultra, I wasn't impressed enough to upgrade from the Note 10+. While many of the upgrades are nice to have, there are no earth shattering changes. To be fair, phone technology has plateaued and it's going to take more than camera, screen and battery upgrades to get people spending $1000+, let alone $1400-1500. The Note 20 is going to need an under display front camera, an even bigger battery, more futuristic design or something to get people to upgrade.
Now I have friends who upgraded from S8/ Note 8 models and they're blown away by the improvement. It's become more practical to upgrade every 2+ years versus luxury upgrades every cycle.
I am returning mine because mainly because I cannot justify the difference between the 128 GB of the Ultra vs the S20+. The main difference between the two are the battery and camera. For me, the Ultra is simply TOO BIG, it's taller, wider and substantially heavier than what I am used to - coming from the S10+. S20+ is the ideal fit, especially since I really do not care for the camera specs honestly.
I got mine yesterday and have been testing the camera against my Pixel 3XL. I was hoping for a similar experience as the Pixel, but so far the results have been wildly inconsistent. Some of the photos are marginally better than the Pixel, but many are much worse, especially when it comes to white balance in low light and extremely over done color saturation in others.
Similar to OP, I love the screen, processor and battery. It's a shame the camera is dragging it down for me. I'll probably take a look at it again in a few months and see if any updates have made significant improvements to the camera.
Oh, I also tried out one of the GCam ports and saw little to no improvement over the stock camera.
My only gripe which I can agree with you on is the camera's autofocus. There is a firmware update inbound which is supposed to fix this. This should not be a launch issue.
As for the UI, I disagree. I think it's perfectly responsive. It may be the update to 2.1 for you. I've only ever had 2.x on my Samsung devices so I can't comment from that respect.
Those are of course your impressions and opinion and as such I'm not saying your wrong just that it's not that way in my point of view.
In the past I've returned things less than a day of ownership because of burning issues. I've learned, however, to use the 15 days they provide. It's not like a pro rated fee or rental where there's a fiscal benefit to a quick return. Slow down, use it for those two weeks.

So the UI like messages and you hit reply and then send and it kinda sticks there. On old one ui it was instant. You would have to have both side by side honestly to be able to tell like I did. I replied to a few facebook messages on ultra and was like that felt odd. Then did on note and was like wow it is faster

11 Pro Max 512GB is $1449.
512GB Ultra is $1599.
Both are very expensive!
IMHO, for the price of $1599 there should be a slim case in the box, 45W charger, 1TB storage and ceramic back! I get it, 5G is adding to the cost and for a lot of us is like paying for tits on a bull!
Wait until the iPhone 12 with 5G comes out. Figure on adding $200-300 EXTRA.

I agree. Ceramic is needed at this price point and a 1tb option for sure!!!
I got my ultra two days ago and have to say i am very disappointed in the camera system. With how much physical size it takes up you'd think it was going to be something of quality, but largely it is not. The autofocus issues are not being overstated - sitting at my computer desk it refuses to focus on the keyboard three feet in front of me. My s10+ on the other hand has no issues getting focus rapidly.
The screen is amazing but I am underwhelmed by the 120hz. The way people talk about it, you'd think it was the best thing since sliced bread. While it is noticable during very slow scrolling, normal scrolling looks basically the same as on my s10. The one noticeable difference is with the responsiveness to touch which i gather is from the 240 sampling rate.
The fingerprint scanner is identical in performance to s10.
The increased weight and size of the phone actually helps it to feel more premium and it's not difficult to handle. The screen is considerably more narrow than note 10+ which I do like - the wide-ness of the n10+ was cumbersome.
I love how the screen edges are nearly flat, gives it more usable space.
I have already contacted samsung and made it clear that if an update isn't imminent that fixes the camera performance, I will have no choice but to return..it just doesn't make sense to trade in my still-perfect s10+ and spend nearly $900 on an unfinished product...which is how the ultra feels at this point.

Mmmhmm, goes in and out of focus. Even if you tap to focus you have to practically do a shot right then or it's back to in and out again.
And I just did a 108MP photo of my cat in so-so light. Not really impressed. The only thing decent I'll say is the 5x & 10x zoom. Doesn't make up for the other issues though.

Agreed on all points except I prefer the wider note 10+ screen but yes everything else is spot on

exactly is that worth $800-1400 over your current device?
