Tencent Nintendo Switch PLEASE HELP! - Nintendo Switch Questions & Answers

Hi
i am new to all of this nintendo switch thing so please be easy on me with your explanation
i live in China for now, and just bought myself a switch just to enjoy a little and play some exclusive.
the problem is that i didnt know that the switch in china is a special one that is operated by tencent.
anyway my question is
can i change the language in my switch? maybe install a new OS?change some REG files?
i dont care loosing multiplayer game abilities or online store (im more of old school cartridge lover)
please if somebody can help me i will be more than happy
some donations will be included too to the helper
i just want to be able to read and understand my games and console ^^

If you could run Switchroot, that`d be language independent.
As for Horizon OS: Probably outta luck
(Aside from maaaaaybe using an EmuMMC... But that is unclear)

If that model of switch is capable of going into RCM, you can try sending a payload to see if it boots. If it does you can follow this guide to hack it and use Atmosphere instead of HorizonOS
https://switch.homebrew.guide/

Chinese Switch player here to answer.
In fact, only new players will buy Tencent Switch, most of experienced Chinese players prefer importing one from Japan or Hong Kong - and I'm the one using Switch imported from Hong Kong.
Therefore, you have two choices:
- Sell the bare console itself (known as single tablet 单平板 in China), and buy another bare console that claimed to be Hong Kong variant or Japanese variant on Taobao Flea Market (Xianyu 闲鱼). These two aren't language selection locked. If you have cartridges ended with CHN, sell them as well, as cartridges ended with CHN are region locked to Tencent Switch.
- All of Tencent Switch are based on revised Mariko based SoC, so RCM method is definitely unusable. However, the mod chip is usable, but can be risky and not recommended.
Joy-Con and other accessories aren't region locked, and they're still under 1-year warranty guarantee from Tencent. If you prefer the first choice, all existing accessories can be kept. To help you search, here're keywords you can use:
switch 港版 单平板 续航
(Switch Hong Kong variant bare console long battery life)
switch 日版 单平板 续航
(Switch Japanese variant bare console long battery life)
Nintendo Switches with longer battery life are based on revised Mariko based SoC. If you don't mind, you can remove the keyword "续航".

it's not that easy on a Tencent Switch. on GBA temp this is explained but you need an Rcm switch or a modchip.

Hebrew support for universal

Hi all,
It is for quite some time now that i am looking for a hebrew localization pack for my Universal and apparently there is no cheep solution for that. (well there is a 130$ one but it is too expensive for me...) .
I've searched the net for a cheep solution but it seems that all software companies that develop these kind of localization do not know all about Hebrew and thus i get a software that write in mirror like way and some more little things (like no hebrew Email/sms support, no hebrew on PIE etc...).
all i want is to be able to send/recieve emails/sms and have the hebrew keboard layout (in addition to the english one) so that i can write documents or sms/emails (PIE is less important to me ) - in the right hebrew direction (right to left).
I am looking for someone able to give me some guidelines on how to start this project of hebrew localization - if i will finnish this, i will share it freely. i look for no profit.
thank you all who can help me.
hebrew
best solution: http://www.eyron.net/
(1 week try for free).
works perfect with my qtek 9000
even cheaper:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=5498
you might also try: P.D.A.C. which also has Hebrew for mobile devices (the site is: http://www.wince.co.il/). BTW - I bought it for approx. 230-50 shekels (shop was cheaper than the site!)
Although I have to add that I actually had it installed by Handy (mobile devices shop in Tel Aviv) - who are pretty experienced with Hebrew on mobile devices, but it didn't work well (mirror hebrew, IMEI # disappeared...), when I had to reinstall it after a Hard Reset of my device - so eventually I got a refund.
I am told that Eyron works much the same way (i.e. there is no real difference between the two), but the PDAC support team are considered more responsive; which I experienced 1st hand: when I tried to install the eyron trial, I wanted to ask them a couple of technical questions - I did so in a couple of emails - but NEVER received any reply back.
bottom line is I have no definitive answer as to which prog. to use. Another factor may be th ROM you use on the device. After I update mine I'll attempt this again... write here if you have any new info.
well,
Thank you Magicuser and techdot,
I did try Eyron's UI but it took me too many hardresets and i also had to speak to their support by phone untill they found a version that worked on my XDA EXEC. bottom line - they are too expensive and the software made my device slower...
I also have been in contact with PDAC but they do not have an evaluation software, their reply to me said that if i wish i can come to their offices, have them install their software on my device but soon as i leave they would hardreset (!!!) my device to get it all off....personaly i'm against this as i think i should have the possibility to evaluate before i buy.
I did make a mistake with Ectaco language support - i bought it befor i evaluated it properly and now i have problems with them - the hebrew keyboard dont seem to load up, i have no hebrew on sms/emails (send or recieve) and i also have no hebrew on PIE...
this why i am looking for my own solution for a minimal hebrew support (keyboard, sms/emai send/recieve, PIE - in good and not mirrorized right to left way)...
I bought the PDAC solution for my MioA201 (WM5) and it works very well, although it has an over complex security installation routine.
I have not tried it on the Exec. If you tell PDAC what PDA you have and ask them if they would refund if it doesn't work. I am sure they would respond +vely to this
rgds
The thing is, i would like to try it befor i decide do pay money for it.
and i think 250NIS is too much for a rather simple feature (heberw keyboard, send/recieve hebrew sms/email and optional hebrew support for PIE), which i dont understand why Microsoft does not provide for free (like when you buy win XP for desktop pc).
the other alternative is you find a hebrew firmware upgrade for the exec. There is one for the Typhoon, but not sure about the Universal. Cellcom support HTC products and they might have a hebrew firmware so you should call them, but I have not heard about it. Its all a case of supply and demand, there is probably not a critical mass of Universal users in Israel for HTC to bother. I know there is a critical mass for the Typhoon and Hebrew firmware is available.
The useful thing about PDAC is that if you buy a new PDA you can transfer the software. Whereas if it was firmware you would have to start the hunt again. It is frustrating that they don't have a trial version. Although I think the asking cost is quite low for this type of software.

Any idea where can I find this hebrew firmware for the Typhoon?
Thanks!
I am also looking for a simple hebrew test support. My Brother lives in Israel ,and he got hold of version 5 of Eyron, and installed it on an MDA Vario (which I gave him for his b-Day) and he says it works but slows the system down.
I beleive that with Windows Mobile 2003 all you had to do is import the Hebrew Fonts...
So if anyone comes up with a solution I would much oblige
I shall also see If I can get hold of the Hebrew support my BRO is using, but the software is cracked so I am not sure I will be allowed to post that here. ????Moderator??

While this does appear like a simple feature to ask for, It implies that the Operating System (Or layered service) should inherently support bi-directional text display, as well as bi-directional Input.
BTW: AFAIK, starting from WM6 (OS 5.2.317 & up) the OS uses Unicode Fonts, so hebrew IS displayed without any third party software needed.

When will the I-mate Jasjam come out in Australia???????

Hi all I am just wondering when the Jasjam will be out in Australia? Also would you recommend it? If not what would you recommend? Thanks heaps.
The jasjam is expected to come out in Australia sometime between when hell freezes over and when Telstra gets their act together. Telstra has an exclusive deal to sell the imate jasjam up until xmas or there abouts. Its expected to launch late sept/early october on Telstra.
Additionally Dopod in conjunction with 3 will launch the Dopod 838Pro later this month or early next month, this is a similar device to the jasjam just different rom/bundled software/casing and the dopod is expected to be alot cheaper then the imate, imate are charging more for their variant for some reason.
I would recommend any Hermes device, bar the CHT 9000 and any O2 Asia variants. I found the TyTN very useful, fast, efficient, light weight, and whilst I liked the 'spacier' button layout of the TyTN the M3100 (also same layout as Jasjam and dopod 838Pro) was still all of the above just a little less room for error with the buttons and when your in a hurry.
Thanks heaps for all the info it has really helped!!!!!
One question how would the warranty work if I got one from U.K or USA on E-bay?
Osir1s I take it that you have got a tytn? Ifso where did you get it? If you don't mind my asking how much did you pay for it? Thanks heaps.
Osir1s would it be OK if I added you to my MSN Messenger contacts?
Regardless of whether you purchase a jasjam, tytn, dopod, etc etc since none are currently sold in Australia all of them will carry an international warranty. HTC Warranty is very good as its international and transferrable, i-mate for example can be real pricks with their warranties from time to time, dopod im not sure about etc.
You may also be interested to know if you really want a jasjam expansys newzealand, not AU but the new zealand website can sell the jasjams to Australians however you will pay $1410 for it.
I purchased my TyTN through ebay, but look around there are plenty of stores selling TyTNs, its the dopods, jasjams, trions that are harder to come by. I have no experience with these people but alot of ppl on these boards in another thread recommend www.smart-mobile-gadgets.com or MadMonkeyBoys website whatever that is.
For a TyTN you shouldnt pay more then $1100AU put it that way. obviously as aforementioned jasjams etc will set you back more, but for the TyTN no more then $1100AU, maybe $1120 at absolutely max depending on the exchange rate at the time.
I hope this has been of some help.
Any news on the release date?
it will be released around christmas time. This device is currently tested and configured for telstra 3G wap portal.
That long?
DOPOD is officilally launched as business in Australia in Sydney last week.
both DOPOD 838 pro and DOPD 595 are coming to Australia and will be disrtibuted by 3 Networks and OPTUS. Also, thanks to Brightpoint, these models will be also available in retail chains.
yeah, they tried to implement it into their DB device but fails due to the firmware problem. [ Can not Stream the live video and video on demand ]. However, their appointed partner ( which I can not tell you - I am working for that company ) is working on it and this device is going to deploy sometime next week.
Australian avail..
Good to hear. I also heard a date next week for something related, and think there would be a very big hole if Jasjam isn't part of it.
but, does this mean it will launch feature-incomplete with a promise that "the rest will come real soon now"?

So you have been working on a software solution to stream real media??? or am I reading to much into this?
Because I have a JasJar, and still to date, have been unable to watch any video streams at all.
Would be really intersted to hear what you were working on.....
In the past, Telstra 3G live stream only supports 3GP and RM (Real Media ) since there is no PDA device in their so-called marketing list. However, they decide to bring PDA into the market and support wm9 format.
Problem is, Windows Media Player connects into the media server but fails to extract and pick up the correct video format ( for the optimal & performance purposes ). We found firmware isn't compatible with media stream server. Solution is to let Telstra deal with their supplier instead of putting this job to us.
Not only this device, they also bring new palm PDA devices ( which run WM5 AKU 2.x ) as well as new blackberry.
Sometimes during Christmas, you guys will see bounch of new devices release to market. I think it will be sold around 1100 AUD.

You won't be able to stream at all because Jasjar is not in their 3G DB device list. Only those devices that are in that list will be able to load 3G WAP Portal and stream. There are 2 conditions to stream video content :
1. Your device is in DB device list
2. You are active subscriber ( either Telstra or 3 )
Same to anyone who has problem with 3 Provider. They restricted number of devices that can connect and view any video content from their WAP site.
If you want to view the 3 or Telstra WAP portal, you have to modify the User Profile, UA differences to any devices which are currently supported by 3 or Telstra. I can list some of them ( Sony Ericsson K600i, K610, Motorola V3x, Nokia N70, N80, Samsung Z150, Z400, Z510 and some other devices I can not remember their model No ) .

Thanks for the tip, we (the guys on the universal forum) have worked this out already...
But we've ran into 2 hurdles:
1: Streaming video. It seems purely software, in that we can't find any software capable of playing real media streams compatiable with windows mobile 2005.
We are all able to access the web portal, and get anything we like, just when it comes to streaming, the software isn't working properly.
Any advice?
2: MMS For some reason, regardless of the settings used, we just can not get it to send/recieve. We are able to see the headers, but thats it.
Thanks for any help or information you can provide. We are all very greatful.
To gunigugu
Your problem :
1. Streaming video. It seems purely software, in that we can't find any software capable of playing real media streams compatiable with windows mobile 2005.
It is because the User Profile that you used for HTC Universal or any PDA devices belongs to other device that has different method of handling video stream & method calls. Modified trick is only applied when you want to browse Provider's WAP site. Real Media for PPC has different way of handling method calls ( get content function, trigger media manager of device function, create secure & authenticate user & device & connection function) than Real Media for S60, Symbian.
Soon they put TyTn into their DB list, ( I think 3 will do the same with their PDA devices which are running WM5 ). you can use those's User profile to enjoy streaming content. But for now, I don't think you can.
2. MMS For some reason, regardless of the settings used, we just can not get it to send/recieve. We are able to see the headers, but thats it
I don't know much about MMS because it is handled by other groups.
From my understanding, there are 2 checks on MMS server
1. Check device to see whether it is capable of MMS or not
2. Same network's subscribers.
I have not seen any reason why we can not send MMS, no idea but I can find out more infos about this.
My group is responsible for Content delivery platform and Multimedia services.
Hope it helps

Man, your amazing!
Where the hell have you been, most of us, on the universal thread, have been pulling our hair out, trying to organise this!!!
So would I be right in assuming, that the TyTn will be the first WM2005 built into the database.
Does WM2005 go into more specifics such as model number, i.e. JasJar and TyTn. OR am I to assume, that after they are done putting TyTn into the db list, that my universal, will work perfectly with the portal.
BTW, can I ask, what software have you used, to play the real media streams? As this is an area we've had alot of trouble with in relation to wm2005.
In the past, Telstra had planned to bring Jasjar into AUST market but they were never done it. ( I don't know why - my assumption is because this device is too big and most of mobile user in Australia is only care about size and fashion phone than the phone that has lots of functionalities ).
It was a mistake and in order to correct their mistake and trying to gain PDA market share ( they lost PDA market to 3 for Motorola A1000, Motorola A925, Nokia E61 - All are running Symbian OS with Real Player installed), tyTn and other WM5 devices are tested and ready to be released.
Don't know about the price yet but they bought tytn through I-mate with HTC supported .
Like I said before, Telstra has no intention of bringing Jasjar into this market ( maybe they will change in the future but who knows, they used to bring Nokia 9500 device into Market ) . Because Jasjar and tytn share the same operating system as well as stream media player ( they will be built with AKU 2.x ) therefore, the User Profile's modification will work with Streaming media thing. Still you have to modify your header. ( put Tytn's User profile into Jasjar, it will do the trick )
Telstra will put WM9 into their media server. Nothing secrets, it is a plain Windows Media Player 10. RM can be played through customised RealMedia Player for ppc. That's what we have got in here

This isn't a phone so may not be for everyone one thing that interests me is being released to support a new FLAT rate service which costs 5,980 jpy per month
English press release
http://www.emobile.jp/cgi-bin/e_press.cgi?id=359
This beats softbank's 5,980 (Which a offer also real price is 9,980JPY) + charges
I'm sick of softbank's back door charges just want a nice simple price plan Is that too much to ask ?
Rob
It seems to be a great stuff from the spec perspective but it's not for me. It reads that the battery will last only for 4 hours and that's almost useless.
I'm sure this new carrier EMOBILE will release similar PDA devices in the near future but then with the phone capability. The only concern at this point is their signal coverage as they are new but I hear that should be fine as long as you're in the metropolitan area. I'll wait and see what's coming next from EMOBILE.
The 4 hours is use not standby - Sharp make some nice pdas for the Japaneses market
my main problem with Softbank is their total lack of answers to my questions and you get nickeled and dimed to death with charges
And this 1st April password thing is just dumb you have paid for the service you need a valid SIM to access what's the problem ?
rob
Have a Eng ROM?
Nice PDA, but have a ENG ROM?
I only know how to change system language into English for the WM5 version of the Em One (maybe the same works for the WM6 version). Here's how:
Using a registry editor change:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/MUI/CurLang 1041→1033
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/MUI/SysLang 1041→1033
Then manually rename some of the folder names:
Windows\スタートメニュー → Start Menu
Windows\スタートアップ → Startup
Start Menu\プログラム → Programs
Start Menu\設定 → Settings
My Documents\マイピクチャ → My Pictures
Then, go to
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Today/Items
and manually change the names of each item displayed on the Today screen.
[Copy name in Japanese, paste in a machine translation software textbox, translate, copy the result and paste it instead of the Japanese name. Piece of cake, right?]

[HOW TO] Free Cinema Plug-In besides Urukdroid

Hey Guys
I'm back
(For these who dont know me: I was here since the 8ers are out and have had a bunch of projectes )
Whatever i would like to discribe you my own way to get the Cinema Plugin for free besides Urukdroid.
5 Steps:
1) Go to the Rescovery Menu -> Update Firmware
2) Download the Firmware Version 2.3.26
3) Plugin your Archos via USB and copy the aos file
4) Press the Power Button to install the firmware.
5) Install Urukdroid the "normal" way !
How this works?
This trick works because in the firmware Version 2.3.26 Archos has missed to put in the "Lock" for HD/DTS/etc.
Now you can use Urukdroid for the normal use and if you want to see a film you just Boot the Archos into "Android" (The normal Archos Firmware) by pressing the Volume Down Button and selecting "Android".
Have Fun!

Welcome back. I've always been curious why archos made it this way - you have the player but if you want to play all kinds of movies you have to buy their plugin. Isn't it enought that we bought their product already? When I tried to play a movie for the very first time and I was forced to pay for it I was like "whatta hell?!". Glad to see some new tips and tricks about our kinda forgotten devices.

Archos made this since their 7th Generation, the 5 Internet Tablet^^
I have bought the Cinema Plugin for this Device for 15 Euro.
A friend of me has just bought the Plugin for his Generation 9 Device.
We, the 8ers, are lucky to have this trick so we dont need to pay for the plugin
And are Devices arent forgotten
Many people said that before you, at the beginning the people said that we`ll never get a Rom or Gingerbread or whatever^^ But we did it
Greetz
Lenn
Forgotten by Archos not by developers of custom roms
The reason why Archos did that is because unlike alot of .... manufacaturers they care about intellectual Property.
As the two things you buy with the plugin are MPEG2TS and AC3 playback and they are quite expensive and the licences have to be paid depending on the number of devices, Archos decided to not include them in every device.
As not that many really need those two codecs it's good that for ex i don't have to pay for that.

Can I do this even with Urukdroid, currently installed. I also notice, this is an old post, has there been any other way to accomplish this.
Anyways thanks Lenn for the tip.
When I tried updating the firmware, it came up with an error - Firmware too old for your hardware (221).
Help please?
Thanks,
I tried this with a 70b IT (Froyo) and I get Update Failed (207).
What can I do to get round this?

[Q] Locales?

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to answer this, but who knows. I'm moving from Japan to the UK next week and I have to buy new phones for myself any my wife. The Nexus 4 looks like a really good option, but my wife needs the UI to be in the Japanese locale. I know I can set a custom locale so that her apps are Japanese, but she wants the settings on the phone, etc, in Japanese. I suspect that phones off the shelf won't have a Japanese locale compiled in. When you order a phone from Play, what locales are compiled in? I know there's a Japanese version of the Nexus 7, but when you go through the order form it seems to give you options only for the location you are in. So, for instance, the descriptions for the Nexus 7 were all in Japanese, even though my locale on my browser is English -- so they must be keying on my IP address. There seemed to be no option for ordering a device with specific localization.
I'm wondering if I will be better to find a phone that will run Cyanogen mod and compile in the Japanese locale myself... Or I can tell my wife that running her phone in English is good practice (She's always telling me to run my computer in Japanese...)
