Onn Surf 8 Pro (Model 100003561): Video Calling/Meeting Apps Echo issue? - Walmart Onn Tablets General

Unlike some others here, the speakers on my Onn tablet are fine -- not high fidelity, obviously, but LOUD -- and the quality is bearable. I'm setting it up for an elderly relative and in most respects, it's just what she needs.
However, I am not sure whether it can be used with Zoom or Duo or Jitsi or Discord or any video calling apps, which is one of the reasons I got it for her (she has a landline and a flip phone so just registering for videoconferencing accounts is a major production).
Seriously, the echoes and reverb are out of control. As for Zoom, I can't get it working at all and the Zoom web portal, even in browser pc mode, launches the app or sends me to the Play store.
If anyone has tried any of these apps on this device, can you please report back on what worked for you and what didn't?
Many thanks!

Slingbox Mobile TV opinions/sugestions

This is the first time posting so bare with me. I have Slingbox Pro at home and since I purchased my new HTC Sprint Touch Diamond I have been trying Slingbox Mobile. I am still tweaking settings and testing but currently I find video streaming a bit slow but audio OK! Have not tried WI FI yet. Has anyone else been using Slingbox Mobile? Would like to know your tweaks, settings etc... on improving video quality.
Thanks
Sprint HTC Touch Diamond DIAM 500
ROM - 1.09.651.5
Radio -1.00.00F
OS - Windows Mobile 6.1
I have been using it for a while, though I am not sure I have figured out the optimum settings, it is working pretty well over wifi but a little jumpy in fullscreen.
These are my settings:
Player: Buffer setings-manual
Optimization:Enable slingstream optimizer
Enable fast start
Encoding:Enable sling stream optimization X
Video Bitrate 250
Video FPS 20
I-Frame interval 5
Video rseolution 320x240
Audio: Stereo low
advanced: no alert
no stats
reconnect
X=exit
no audio video offset
Use GDI Rendering
On the whole I am pretty pleased with it, but mainly because it turns my laptop into a TV, the mobile software does leave a lot to be desired, especially since they make you pay on top for the mobile software, that is taking the piss on an already expensive piece of kit.
Thanks for the reply post... I have been using Slingbox Pro and my son also who is in Germany has been using it and we both agree that the video and audio quality is great. I have SprintTV as well as DiamondTV which are OK but nothing like having my own DishNetwork TV programs. I am thinking of purchasing the Slingbox Mobile software. It's only $29.99... What's a few more $$$$ anyway. LOL! Again thanks....
I use Slingbox Mobile too. I paid for it because to it's worth a one-time fee of 30 bucks to be able to stream my tv to my phone with full control. I'm aware of Orb as a free alternative but it's way too bulky and resource intensive. Slingbox definitely beats it.
I have not touched any settings at all in Slingbox Mobile. Everything is default. I stream over 3G data and I think the picture looks great and the sound is great. I hope they update the Mobile app soon to have some of the functionality that the latest Desktop version has (DVR buffer, and Guide data). Overall, it's my favorite app on my Diamond.
I also am very happy with my Slingbox (Pro in my case) with my Tilt. I use it with the my recently acquired Motorola S9/S9-HD bluetooth headset and I have to say it GREAT. Highly recommend the wireless headset to go with you slingbox. The older S9's can be found on ebay for under $40, just watch out for knock offs from China.
I've been using the Slingbox Mobile software too and I've found the picture and audio to be fine most of the time. The only problem I have is that my upload speed via my broadband is terrible (thanks BT) so it sometimes struggles. When I use it at home it's fine though.

[Q] YouTube Video Quality Question

Hey guys, I'm trying to see if anyone else is experiencing this on the HD2 w WP7.
When I click on a video link on YouTube website, the video player loads up. However, the video quality always play in the lowest quality, never in HQ. I tried it on multiple videos, that I know can be scaled to be viewed up to 1080p (I'm aware that the phone can't play this though). But it still plays them in the worst quality, never HQ.
I also tried this test under my regular t-mobile data connection (HSDPA), and using WiFi.
I know that with WM6, and Android, clicking a YouTube link from the website, opens up its respective players, but you have the option, (at least in Android) to bump it up to high quality, in the settings (if data connections is fast enough).
It just bugs the heck outta me, because I use it to "get away" during my short lunch break at work, to either watch some videos, or short tv shows, its frustrating to watch video that looks like it was intended for a Razr phone screen on the HD2, and can't do anything to fix it.
So let me know, if its something that I need to do, or if everyone else is experiencing the same thing.
Thanks Guys
Eddie.
For me it depends on the speed of my connection. 3g bad, wifi great. Youtube over 3g under wm6.5 was awesome so it sucks that it's so bad under wp7.
Quality in the youtube app from HTC is good even over 3g.

Justop K9B stick MK809 ii

Hi, my first post so be gentle!
Does anyone have one of these, it is the Bluetooth version of the MK809 ii and although I'm generally happy with it, it does have a few shortfalls. I am using it with a lan adaptor which works well.
I have a webcam that sort of works with Skype, but the large (Skype caller) and small (local webcam) images are the wrong way round, so if anyone calls I have to squint at the tiny picture! I tried the version off xda but it's the same. Any help there would be appreciated.
I've never dabbled with flashing anything android but should I be looking at doing this perhaps, and if so I have not seen any mention of the Bluetooth version of the MK809ii. I'll probably turn it into a vegetable anyway!
I welcome any thoughts/experience with this gadget.
Cheers

which lan adapter are you using and how much.
I am looking to buy the mk809ii, and was wondering what are some CONs and disadvantage you are seeing now? I heard it is much better than the mk808 as it has less glitches?

I'm using the BOBJGEAR usb to Lan android adapter, works fine out of the box on my tv stick.
Aside from the Skype problem above (REALLY annoying!), not too many cons to be honest, just minor niggles mainly with some apps not being suited to it.
-Youtube seems to have lost its ability to go full screen for some reason, works fine on my Nexus 7 and is the same version.
-I have tried a few DLNA media apps to try and view pictures, videos etc from my NAS and they appear to be occasionally laggy across my network, the media app that came with the stick seems to work the best but looks pants!
-Watching films is generally a good experience, but the rendering isn't fantastic on darker films, probably mainly due to the quality of videos I have. Youtube HD videos are perfect.
-Google earth works but there doesn't seem to be any zoom buttons so is useless, i haven't looked into that yet.
All in all i'm happy with it, I bought a Xenta bluetooth keyboard with built in mouse which connects fine directly with the built in bluetooth. The mouse is a bit frustrating though so will be buying a bluetooth mouse.
Hope that helps
hi sadsplace, im just thinking of buying one, are you still happy 2 weeks in, any new suggestions?
thanks
joe
No Skype calls on new MK 809 II
I just got this new TV stick which seems to be working fine. Still, I'm unable to make calls in Skype. I attached a USB webcam and I also paired a bluetooth headset, I enabled video calls in Skype, but when I get to call anyone, after 2 or 3 rings, the call fails no matter if the other party answered or not. The only error message I see is "Call failed".
If anyone experienced this, is there a way to at least see if the webcam and the BT microphone are correctly installed? I tried several webcam apps from Google Play just to get an immage on my screen and finally I got one, but not in Skype.. .

Car troubles - audio via USB, hands free texting

I drive a 2010 GMC Terrain. Girlfriends iphone/ipod plays through the USB port fine, but I tried my nexus 4 and got nothing. 5.0.1 stock, but considering alternate ROMs
After a year and a half with windows phone, I was way overdue to come back to android. one good thing about WP though was that my texts would read aloud through Bluetooth (my rig only has Bluetooth for calls, not a2dp), but android still doesn't seem to have this feature stock.
Suggestions for either of these issues?
no clue on usb-audio out, but internet should have something on that
for second issue i know of two possible solutions:
1) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.grimpy.botifier&hl=pl (edit - this app actually sends text to car's display, not the audio)
2) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.marvin.talkback&hl=pl
other than these two apps i suppose there are many other, just type a few queries in play store, i'm sure you'll find what you desire
3) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=robj.readit.tomefree
I tried readittome, it requires a purchase to get the full features. The other apps look cool, but not quite what I'm looking for. Disappointing that android still doesn't have what should be deemed an essential feature when a platform like windows phone does.

Galaxy Tab A7 - Audio quality loss while using VoIP

Hello fellows. I have been struggling with a specific issue since I bought my tablet. The device is a Galaxy Tab A 2016 (SM-T280) and it runs Android 5.1.1. I have rooted it when the first root method was released, can't really recall it, and I've installed only SD Maid. No mods, no tweaks, no custom bootloaders, no nothing. My problem occures while I'm using VoIP chat (like Facebook Messenger or Google Hangouts) and try to watch a video simultaneously. Although the audio quality is pretty decent on plain media playback, it drops like hell and becomes distored and kind of silent if I start VoIP call at the same time. Has anyone stumbled upon the same issue? Is there any workaround? Thank you in advance.
