How exactly did you get into download mode? Every option that I have tried only gets me to a screen that reminds me of a Pixel bootloader.

Were you also using an old ATT SIM card as well? Are you now ATT/ATT/XAA?
This sounds SO easy! Didn't wipe your phone either after flashing.
Thanks!!!

Yes ATT/ATT/XAA
And yes, took my old sim card out of my old phone

I know this is about AT&T but I'm curious as to why you had to flash a whole firmware. I just slapped a sprint sim in my unlocked and everything is working ... edit nevermind just the home CSC ... been a long day

i just flashed the N986U1UEU1ATH3 into my att note 20 ultra. got ride of all the att preinstalled apps.

Out if the box I flashed my U1 with the SM-N986U ATH4 firmware (including original CSC, not Home_csc) with the CSC country variant since I'm in AT&T.
I booted the phone with the AT&T sim inserted, my old phone offline. However, after going through the setup I still do not have WiFi calling which is very important. I have tried flashing the Home_CSC of the CSC country code variants for the SM-N986U but have been unsuccessful in lighting up the specific AT&T features.
Anything I'm missing?

I still can't believe how well this worked!
I did the OTA for the August Security Patch (U1 ATH3) pretty much after I opened the phone. I already has my old AT&T SIM card in the phone, then I used Frija to download the T-Mobile U ATH3 firmware for a locked device.
I flashed only the Home_CSC file (as jcrompton instructed) and now, I not only got WiFi Calling back, I also have AT&T Visual Voicemail, Video Calling, HD Voice.
I thought that I'd have to wait for someone to upload the ATT User_Data file and once again be stuck with all of the AT&T bloatware.
If this process has been working for a long time then I sure have been wasting my time!
Thanks again!

I was on U1 ATH3, flashed to USA/CSC SM-N986U ATH4 (with original CSC file) with no luck. Flashed only the home_CSC for the build, no luck, then tried the home_CSC for the TMO ATH3 all with no luck.
I turned Wifi off and left my AT&T SIM in the entire time. Any suggestions? I really need to get wifi calling going.

My device is AT&T locked but has anyone confirmed they are provisioned correctly for 5G and getting confirmation on the SIM ? I changed my plan to Unlimited Elite and used the SIM that came with my device, but under Settings/About Phone/Status/SIM card status/Mobile data network type it displays LTE. I had a chat with Tier2 earlier today which they couldn't resolve.

Probably a dumb question but why buy it unlocked to flash the ATT firmware rather than buying is straight from ATT?

Not a fun question at all ..... but I get incentives usually when buying from Samsung. I like to buy unlocked
But actually I never " flash ATT firmware" ..... this thread was to confirm that you can keep the unlocked U1 firmware., flash only the carrier U Home CSC file, and thus maintain all the benefits of U1 unlocked firmware but still have the carrier calling features without the bloatware on carrier U firmware.
Edit
In addition. Anytime I've had a carrier device I always flash the U1 firmware with the U CSC so the end result is the same even if I have a carrier device

Something is defintely not right
Try using the patched Odin and flash all the U1 files except for put the U full CSC in (instead of the U1 csc) It'll wipe your phone but i know for sure that'll work. I've done it 100 times with various phones

I can't find the Att U file for the Note 20 Ultra, where would I go to find that? I want to flash the carrier software features to my unlocked note.

At&t does not post the U firmware only the unlocked

If you were to travel overseas, you can use the unlocked phone with overseas SIM which is cheaper than paying for ATT's international pricing.

Firmware Help Needed

So on my wife's sprint s7, she setup finger print scanner for lockscreen. But some how got locked out. So all it would ask for is the password which she didn't remember either. So my only option was a factory reset. I did that in recovery but when it went thru setup, it wanted the Gmail associated with that device which was her email. It wouldn't take that either. So came down to needing to odin stock firmware. I forgot the other day her phone updated to PJ2 firmware. Well all I came across online was stock firmware for PF2. I used the newest odin and filled all slots with appropriate files and flashed. Get nothing but failed. Assuming it's because I couldn't downgrade firmwares. My total fault. I haven't odined or rooted my phones since the note 5. Where it was just one file to fill in on the ap slot on odin. So basically her phone is a paper weight because when I reboot it, it goes thru setup but once it gets to the point of connecting to network, it just wants to sit there. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there another firmware I can download to get my wife's phone working again? I couldn't find PJ2 Stock firmware anywhere online. Please help!!!
Try the unlocked firmware. PG9 was the unlocked version just prior to PI3 (the latest unlocked version). This will allow you to have hotspot without rooting.

I ended up flashing G930U API3 firmware and I got it working again because it has the new bootloader like PJ2. I wonder if I can go from that to PH7? I would really like to stay on a Sprint firmware

I totally screwed up my last post. I copied it from notepad and most of it didn't copy over, which I just now realized after reading your quote of my post. I had written exactly what you ended up doing - flash the unlocked firmware and use Shortcut Master Lite app to enable hotspot. I also got the versions wrong. The versions I posted are the sprint firmware, not the unlocked. Been a long day. Did you get hotspot working?

Unfortunately when you switch to/from the sprint firmware to/from the unlocked firmware, your phone's data will be wiped, so essentially factory reset. So you would lose hotspot if you flashed back to the sprint firmware from the unlocked firmware. You could root, but the root for this phone on the sprint firmware is tricky and unstable. And I'm pretty sure from what I've read in the rooting thread that the last couple of versions of the sprint firmware (PH7 and definitely PJ2) cannot be rooted. I think the last sprint firmware version that you can even get root on is maybe PE1, and I don't think you can downgrade to that version any more because of the new bootloader.

I'm pretty sure you can. I had done it from an earlier unlocked version to an earlier sprint version. I think as long as the bootloader of the sprint firmware you're trying to flash back to is at least as new as the bootloader of the unlocked firmware you're coming from, it should work. But I haven't done it myself with these newer firmware versions. I bet after your wife uses the unlocked version for a while, she won't want to go back to the sprint version. I've never looked back since I tried the unlocked firmware. The only reason I did flash back to sprint firmware was just to see if it could be done. I immediately flashed the unlocked firmware back onto my phone. I really hate what sprint does to this phone with all the sponsored apps and sprint apps they dump on there, and most you can't remove or disable.

So I just read this thread, and just want to confirm. I'm on PJ2 on sprint. I can flash G930U API3 firmware with Odin and get rid of all the sprint bloat correct? Will the device still work on Sprint's network then? And I can root PI3? If this is all correct I'll be doing this today lol.

Samsung Pay Works but Wifi Calling and Video Calling Does Not
this odin writes to userdata? So it allows full carrier switch? That's huge if true
so how does this work when its time to get an ota update? do you need to flash back to att and then flash to the unlocked equivalent or can you just take unlocked ota's to update the phone?

You do not have to ODIN back. It will update normally. It was pulled from a US Cellular Device which was sold unlocked. I have the Canada version also with the built in Caller ID to identify unknown numbers with the Samsung Smart Call feature. and you do not have to program the APN. Yall let me know if you want me to upload it along with instructions.

Have tried flashing over it with this ROM and a Verizon ROM.
Both flash worked completely n ODIN but when the phone reboots, it is still Sprint.

Am I doing something wrong?
I have tried both Home CSC and Non-Home CSC and the Userdata file was in UMS field in ODIN.

I have the Verizon variant and downloaded the Canadian version, and flashed that over completely the regular CSC, not the home_CSC. This was using the prince comsey or whatever version of Odin, and I let it reboot after. During the setup I did the same thing the other guy mentioned where you only set a pin, and select yes to boot the device with your pin. Once I got through the setup I turned on dev mode, and flashed my stock FW, which was Verizon. I selected all files and chose the home_csc from the Verizon package along with the VZW AP, BL and CP files.
Flashed them all over and let the device reboot. Once it turned on it took a minute or so to get LTE and service in general but it worked.

Thanks again, it just seems like the US cellular version wouldn't take for me but I am now happy and bloatware free.

Please if anyone feels that they should be mentioned...pm me...it takes a while to create a thread that is semi-professional and not just a single link...and I may leave things out unintentionally...a pm will allow for edits quietly and professionally...please enjoy and I do not require credit because all we are doing is sharing and contributing for the sake of enjoying our Note...

So has the experience been better using this rom over stock? Any improvement on battery life? Performance?
So I have a unlocked carrier Note 8. I flashed the AT&T firmware and still do not get Wi-Fi calling. VOLTE works but trying to setup Wi-Fi calling fails.

I been on the phone with AT&T trying to get my imei whitelisted. I told them it was an AT&T phone. Running stock AT&T software. If I am running this software all my updates coming from AT&T now?

Someone said to add fota to apn using shortcut master lite to get OTA from ATT if you don't get OTA updates normally...but yeah if all is stock and working cohesively you should get OTA from them. If you are on unlocked and you just flashed csc and USERDATA files you may still get from Samsung...you just got ATT to whitelist the imei...
Some of the unlocked updates have came from carriers...though (it's kind of odd I looked at where my SPR SM-N950U1 came from and it was the same server that the Sprint s8+ updates came from...then I went back to just XAA and checked for the XAA SM-N950U1 and it was a Samsung server...so you may be getting ATT no matter what once your imei is rightfully registered...
All firmwares for SM-N950U and SM-N950U1 are located at link in OP....for those looking for Firmware

Not sure, I haven't looked....
My zips include BL, AP, CP, CSC, HOME_CSC, and USERDATA...
This one is ATT...
It is compressed individually...and includes a note to use new Odin
So I just flashed the latest att firmware on my Verizon note 8 and just trying to get volte and wifi calling to work but no luck. I've read the combanation file is need to "carrier switch" but none of the combanation files seem like they go with the latest pie firmware? And help and or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated
My Note 8 was purchased from ATT, then I unlocked it using a service, then I switched to T Mobile years later. When I switched to T Mobile, the firmware updated itself to T Mobile after I booted with a T Mobile SIM.
Now, I am trying to flash it to U1_XAA so that I can gift it to someone in China. However, after factory resets, even from the recovery menu, it fails almost immediately during flashing. Would you please guide me on how to get this flashed to U1_XAA? Or is it ok just to leave it the way it is (U_TMB) and send it out?
Thank you!
P.S. this is with Android Pie, since I got the update while I was still on ATT. I tried flashing with the patched Odin as well, same thing...

my fiancee and i both have the same Cricket S9 and mine has the U1 firmware flashed on it, hers is stock. Hers has voLTE, mine does not. It has to be baked into the firmware. The cricket firmwares are tricky to get a hold of

Thank you. Some how I think I'm actually running U1 and it shows wifi calling and volte enabled and provisioned. I believe the volte. But I never setup the 911 stuff for wifi calling but the device is claiming its enabled.
AT&T and subsidiaries have always been hard to get proper firmwares for.
That's actually the bit 5 firmware you linked. Im on bit 6

From what I can recall, no special firmware is required, however you need either an actual cricket sim which will notify you of a carrier update and reboot and install the AIO CSC code, or combination firmware and set the CSC to AIO with it, i have more details if needed.

How get back your carrier services if you changed your CSC code.

How get back your carrier services if you changed your CSC code
Well with the help of these great XDA members I was able to restore my carrier services to my ATT 986U branded phone.
I made the mistake of messing with the CSC code without doing enough research. The mistake I made was using the procedure below on my 986U when it was meant for 986U1.
(I just pulled my SIM, entered *#272*MY_IMEI# and changed CSC from ATT to XAA. Rebooted phone without SIM and checked for update.)
Doing this made my phone lose all of its carrier services and I could not revert back. Luckily with the help of the XDA members they provided a tutorial on how to restore the ATT carrier services. It has been confirmed to work on Verizon and maybe other carriers. Follow the instructions below provided by @mlr_90.
1. First Flash your device with the U1 firmware found here using the patched Odin3_v3.13.3b: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-20-ultra/how-to/ota-ota-firmware-n986u-t4143833
2. Second make sure you flashe the AP,BP,CP and CSC found in the file. (Not the HOME_CSC)
3. Make sure to remove your sim card when you flash rom. Reinsert the sim card once phone is booted up and done with the initial setup. Once setup is done pop in your carrier sim card and you should get a message stating to reboot your phone. This will change your CSC code back to ATT/ATT/ATT from XAA/XAA/ATT.
4. Once your phone reboots confirm in the software information that your CSC is back to ATT/ATT/ATT
5. Now you can flash back to the U version firmware. Currenlty the latest is ATI6 found here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-20-ultra/how-to/ota-ota-firmware-n986u-t4143833
6. Flash using the U firmware using the instrucitons in step 2, but this time make sure your flash the HOME_CSC instead of the regular CSC.
7. Once this is completed flashing you should see your carrier logo during bootup and all the carrier services will be back on your phone.

In using the U1 firmware on my Verizon note, I gained access to the security section in device care and also called ID and spam in phone. When you flashed back to ATI5 U firmware, do those get removed again? Really the only thing that I can see I am currently missing is Carrier Video Calling, but was just planning on using Duo.

Doesn't it feel good Borijess that you were able to help, believe me when i say this there are going to be plenty people who will get help from this but plenty people are selfish and entitled they would never hit thanks nor acknowledge nevertheless you did good by posting this (you could have ignored the suggestion) now may i suggest one more thing - Edit the title to be more Generic like "How get back your carrier services if you changed your CSC code"
While in the main description you can write you did this for ATT and we have confirmation that this works for Verizon too. So more people would be able to use it. Going by the forum posts believe me this is an issue many are facing.
