Magisk and Android 11

Hi, I'm interesed on android beta 11 but I have a lot of customizations root related in Android 10, (includes soli radar use and GSM doze, for example).
The question is Magisk Canary version works on 11? Or the better is wait for a update or android stable version?

Hi, root is working with the canary version of magisk. Most of the apps who needs root are working....( Titanium Backup,Adaway) The only app that isn t working for me is Swift installer for theming.....

Hi, can someone help me? I'm on the Pixel 4 Android 11 Beta, I installed the new Magisk manager (the Canary version I think?), and patched the boot image, but after flashing I'm stuck in the bootloader and I can't even turn off the phone anymore. Also, I saw 4 channels in the settings of the manager, stable, beta, canary and canary (debug), but I don't know which one to use and if it matters? Help is really appreciated!

what boot.img do you use? i´m a little cofused because the image for download is flame-rpp4.200409.015-factory-8012c549 but my pixel says are in rpp4.200409.020 I´m scared for the bootloop or something if I flash the 015 boot image.

How did you root I have difficult to do it years Root pixels and pixel 4 won't root.

It's really simple: you download the build from Google the build you have installed on your phone, unzip It, and unzip it again and again the archives inside the unzip folder until you see the boot.img
Copy this boot.img and paste to your internal storage, install the magisk Canary apk and select install magisk zip. Select "patch selected image" in the instalation metod, and select the boot.img copypasted before. Copy the new patched boot.img to your computer and flash to your phone via fastboot mode.

I get the problem when I try to flash patched boot img, I end up in the bootload with status 'no valid boot slot to boot'. Any hints?
Can anybody upload patched magisk boot img for pixel 4 .020 ?

I get the same error in beta2, I think must flash the same boot.img of the zip (patched, obviously) but this means clean flash (flash-all) every update and lost the data

I've used latest Magisk Canary. I've update via ota the i've used Factory Image (cancelled -w) to reboot the phone to normality .
I've also a Pixel 3 that i root without no problem with the same method.

I don't know why, but since beta 2 the method don't work. My pixel 4 fall in bootloop in the same way, and only fix flashing the OTA. Before, I think only work with full whipped beta installation and patch specific the boot.img of the full beta img flashed, but not tested yet

[GUIDE] Magisk for OxygenOS 11

Instructions​- Download the magisk_patched.img
- Reboot your device in bootloader-fastboot mode
- Flash the patched_boot.img in the boot partition:

replace "boot.img" with the magisk_patched.img path
However, it is recommended to test the boot image by temporarily booting it first instead of flashing it:

Is there any way to get Magisk Modules working on Android 11. I cannot flash any zip as a module from the Manager app.

This method did not work for me. I extracted my boot myself, patched it and installed it later by fastboot and it appears to me that it is not installed.

There are some modules like Looki75 Product Sans font, Google Dialer Framework and JoyPixels that are working on my phone. But some others like Swift Installer are not working. And I haven't figured out a fix yet.

Is this for the OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro?

Sure it'll not work, apex folder wasn't created inside the ramdisk, there's a bug with it, just create empty apex folder and repatch it with magisk, it'll work.

Didn't work for me. Tried patching the patched boot then flashing, tried flashing to both slots separately, tried flashing to both slots altogether, ends up on bootloop every time. Mind posting your steps?

Are you using the Canary build of Magisk Manager to patch the boot.img? I got mine working now by extracting it from the payload manually and patching that file in Magisk.

Yes, I'm using the canary version of Magisk Manager. Extracted from the payload.bin as well, patched. Fastboot flashed boot_a magisk_patched.img, did the same for b. My active slot is b currently. Even tried booting the patched boot and still ended up in bootloop.

Had to manually patch with the newest canary to get root. Oddly, the manually patched boot.img is much smaller than other rooted OB1 boots floating around that don't work.

Yes it does I was able to get it to root using magisk patched image just patch your boot image with magisk and flash it in fastboot

OxygenOS Open Beta 2 Root HELP

Hi,
I just updated my Oneplus 8 Pro to Open Beta 2 but have lost root in the process... Can someone please tell me how to re-root my device? (Don't know if this helps but...) I already have Magisk Canary installed.
Any help with a link to a boot image or any other instruction is highly welcome!

You can just flash blu_spark kernel as well. Then root it with magisk canary manager within the OS. Or make your own patched kernel with magisk canary patch function.

This boot img I'm providing is stock rooted.
Command: fastboot boot beta2.img
When your device boots, it will be temporarily rooted, open Magisk Canary and select "install" then "direct install - the recommended option)
When it's done, reboot and you'll be permanently rooted.

Hi, i'm on the latest OOS12 on my OnePlus 8pro where I currrently have OOS12 IN2025. Is it possible to move to my country version which has just come out and that is IN2023?
I also have root, so how can I update?

I updated from oos11 i had root and kept the root. In magisk push the option after ota ore somthing

classic way to root and yes gpay work by hiding root to: gpay, play store, google services

I want to do a clean install of OOS 12 with data wipe then root. But how to install magisk if there is no twrp recovery?

Same problem here. Still haven't figured out how to update except MSM to 11.0.4.4BA and then update to latest. :\
edit: i was thinking about changing the device name to IN2023 and then try to local update again, but i can't figure out how to change it since OOS12 is different in the build.prop.
edit 2: Looks like you'll need to roll back to A11 and update again

My in-2023 had Oos 12 in-2025 installed and listed as device model (in oxygen updater from playstore and settings) I wanted a clean install of Oos 12 in-2023 . i had to use the Downgrade in-2025 pack, and then set update channel to Oos 12 in-2023 (EU) (advanced mode in Oxygen updater) and update normally (settings -> about device -> software update -> local update)
Remember to downgrade to same model as the current software install (downgrade wipes) , then upgrade to the one you want

Hello,
You have to extract payload.bin from the oos12 zip you wanna flash in order to get the boot.img, then send the boot.img to your phone with magisk app installed, and patch the boot.img
Then send your patched boot.image to your computer and flash it with the command : fastboot flash boot name_of_your_patched_boot.img (type the command in the folder where the patched image is)

Twrp and Magisk Not Installing on OnePlus 8 Pro. Android 13

I want to install twrp and magisk on op 8 pro but I couldn't find any resources. I tried to install twrp in fastboot mode, this time it does not enter recovery mode. I found some information for Magisk installation, but I couldn't find anything for Android 13. Can anyone help me out with this please.

There's no TWRP for the OP8 series on Android 13. There's nothing to help you with.

Download the firmware image, extract the boot.img file with python in cmd. Install magisk on one plus add the boot.img file to magisk it will generate its own and use flash adb on that file that's it

You need to download the full firmware same as you have on your phone. Unpack the zip file, then unpack the payload.bin file with the program (payload-dumper), there will be a lot of files we only need boot.img . You install magisk applications in the application you click install magisk(root) you point to your boot.img file. Magisk generates its img file which you need to flash in fastboot. Remember to unlock OEM in developer options and then in adb and enable usb debugging.

There is working TWRP for A13. It works pretty good and I have used it. Check it out here

I recently rooted my IN2025.F62.
At first, you need to unlock the bootloader. Let us know if you need help for that
To be rooted:
1. What DID NOT work: FLASH the official IMG file of TWRP downloaded from their website
I had to use MSM tool to install stock OOS 11 then slowly upgrade to OOS 13 through OTA.
2. What DID work: BOOT into TWRP thanks to twrp_op8_erofs-3.7.0-b3.img (source).
Then download Magisk.apk from Github, rename it to Magisk.zip and flash it from TWRP.
I didn't try yet but you can normally install TWRP from Magisk as reported here.
