Hi, I'm trying to unlock my ZenFone Max M1 but the official app from Asus does not work, it always reports a communication error.
I wonder if there is some unofficial fastboot-based method like the one for ZenFone Max Pro I found on XDA.

There are many versions of gcam available.. And which is the best and latest version for Asus Zenfone Max pro m1?
I beleive the Zenphone Max M1 & Zenphone Max M1 Pro are GSI Certified/Project Treble
Reading the requirements for GSI/Project Treble, I believe both the Max M1 & Max M1 Pro should qualify. They can be bootloader unlocked, have shipped with Android 8.0/8.1, and should be Google Play certified. If that's the case, then installing a new ROM should be doable. I no longer have the device but would be tempted to get another one should this prove to be true.
Anyone willing to try?

Well GSIs are quite a success on zenfone Max m1 on oreo 8.0 vndk 26 vendor. We have booted phhusson's AOSP based GSIs with no bugs on AOSP-9.0 and AOSP-10.0 . After pie beta GSIs still works but in AOSP-10.0 camera not working is a bug which can be resolved for a particular device.
When will be the XDA open the new forum for Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2, so we will get kernels and custom roms?
I'm searching for the unlock tool of the Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL X008D or X008 as it's no longer present on the official support page.
I think it's needed to ultimately unlock the bootloader.

I recently updated to Pixel Experience Plus (11) and relocked the bootloader of my Max Pro m1, now i am unable to flash stock camera (Snapdragon Camera) . Can anyone provide me with the link to apk file of the same which can be installed directly? Found one but that doesn't work.
