It just feels really premium. Coming from a Mi9 I suppose I was surprised at this being visibly bigger and it is heavier.
It feels really good in the hand. I found the phone a bit slippy without the hard transparent case Xiaomi supplied. I can't find any corners cut apart from the screen not being QHD (having it in 120hz mode all the time is making up for that!). The cameras on the back do stick out but the case's thickness levels out the difference.
I'd have liked it to be certified as waterproof. Though from my previous phone I suspect it somewhat is, if not officially. Can't say more yet.
No notch but a cut out hole in the top left. I gotta say, during normal use it just appears as a pitch black dot. I kept thinking it was a notification! You don't see any lens or glass gazing at you. It is a black dot.
Thr charging port is solid and the cable snaps home. The volume and power buttons are pleasingly stiff, the right amount. The speakers are at the top and bottom and make landscape mode a real treat.
Overall the build quality just adds to the feeling Xiaomi went all out with this one. I'm holding a next generation flagship!

Feels great overall. Something about knowing it has a graphene electrode battery is impressive too. That's something Samsung or Apple would only put in a $1800 flagship I bet.
Only complaint is the camera glass seems to have a poor or no oleophobic coating. On my previous phones you had to really wipe your dirty hands all over the glass to get noticeable prints, on the 10 Ultra even if I've washed my hands in the last 30 minutes it leaves obvious dirty prints.

I've been using the phone for almost a week now without a case, and I have been extremely careful with it, but it already has some micro scratches on the display. Its not a super big deal, you can only see it in direct light, but still. I did order a screen protector and a case but the canada post strike once again is causing delays and says I probably wont get my stuff until January. No retailers around here have any cases sooooo if you're thinking about getting an ROG phone, especially if you live in Canada, maybe you should hold off for the next month or two.
Also, not the biggest fan of the pentile sub pixel arrangement. Colours, blacks, and 90hz are actually great, but ugh why pentile, I can clearly see it at normal viewing distance.
The phone itself itself feels solid and heavy. And very smooth. If I put it on my desk it sometimes floats over toward my keyboard depending on how I put it down. A case is a must. I would like one like my old case, false leather with hard plastic, and a cover flap with thin speaker grill cutouts. I miss it already. Nothing on this phone feels loose, and the buttons are all clicky and easy to push. The power button on my old phone use to be on the top left, so I sometimes find myself accidentally hitting it. Especially when I squeeze the phone to take a screenshot. I wish they placed them higher up so they wouldn't be right where I naturally rest my fingers. (for reference if I put the bottom edge of the phone flat against the bottom of my palm, my middle finger just barely reaches over the top edge of the phone.)
Overall I think the phone is well made, and quite a solid phone. When it came out of the box, everything was pristine, worked flawlessly, fast, and easily. There are some small gripes but most people probably wont care about any of them except that the screen can easily get micro scratches, even when being very careful.
EDIT: The screen is still accumulating scratches while I wait for my screen protector to arrive. No scratches on the back however. Disappointing, considering I never used a screen protector on my m7 and scratches didn't start showing up until year 4.
Also this thing is a dust magnet. And I'm not sure how but a speck already made its way under the rear camera glass.
Does anyone know of a place in toronto that would sell generic wallet cases that would fit this phone? Don't want to keep using this unprotected for potentially the rest of 2018

quality is great doesn't feel cheep as many Youtubers pointed out.
though I didn't want to do that I bought a glass protector cause GG3 isn't scratch proof ? and I don't know how it happened but mine got a scratch, maybe from dust in my pockets ...
the good thing with this screen protector is:
it solves the polarization issue.
Assuming we do not take price into consideration, the build material (polyesther plastic) definitely does feel cheap and not luxurious like other smartphones. Notch is not something you can't adapt after 1 month of use though.
For me smooth interface with good touch screen is most important than IR cam. Wish they invest more on better touch screen with Amoled display instead of IR camera.
Chuck it in a case and who would know it's substantially cheaper! Build quality is pretty much the same once it's in a case + screen protector !

A lot has been said about the screen on this phone, and understandably. This is brand new tech so people want to know how well it works and how live-with-able it is. I'll come back to the screen.
Firstly the body of the phone is excellent. It feels sturdy and nice to hold and use. Unfortunately the glass is the most slippery thing I've ever felt. I put it on a flat wireless charger on a flat table on a flat floor, and it still managed to slide slowly off! You need a case which is a shame at the phone is so beautiful.
The hinge is reassuringly robust. Supposedly it will last 200,000 actions which is over 100 a day for 5 years. That might be marketing guff, but it certainly doesn't feel flimsy or worrying at all.
Now the screen: For those who don't know the 'controversy'. Samsung marketed the phone as having a glass screen. It subsequently turned out that it does BUT there is a polymer layer on top of that. Glass screens are used because they are strong and scratch resistant. Plastic isn't really. This phone uses ultra-thin glass which gives incredible screen clarity, but no protection. The plastic on top is great quality but some caution is needed, this is not as tough as you're probably used to. To mitigate this Samsung offer a free screen protector service and one nominal-cost screen replacement per device (£99 in the UK).
The device is not water or dust resistant at all. Again, almost all devices are these days so bear that in mind with this one.
Overall, this phone is very well made and feels strong and robust but there are caveats to consider before buying it. If you are a bit clumsy with phones, or use them in dusty, moist, or very physical environments, it might not be a good daily driver for you.
I still have a fear that its construction will accidentally break...

Feels decently solid not too plasticy light or flimsily, but its far too smooth. I see an accident waiting to happen (has a few times) like a wet wienie being held in a baby oil grip. A case is a must have!
The screen is good im a contractor and have put in my pocket with tons of bad stuff like rough sharp metal doodads. Its been scratched but holding up remarkably to my abuse. Still needing to buy a glass screen protector to prolong clarity.
The end pieces cap and butt are "crappy" meaning soft plasticy and they are indented scratched but the overall finish paint n protective coating seems to be sticking well to the pieces all over the phone. Maybe this will be a good thing for refurnishing expense.(cheap replacement part$)
Love the feel look and design its a little strange being longer vs wider. I would have liked it just a wee bit wider than longer than it is. I'd say maybe an 7 or 8 of 10. The design and feel of the phone has to be the the most impressive aspect. Could have been a all star with a few tweaks IMO.

I like and dislike (I know it's weird) the "sound" of the hinge... Yes, if you are in a really quiet place, you hear the brushes in the hinge doing their job. It's nice though, knowing that they are their, as advertised. But it kinda sounds a bit awkward at the same time.
Maybe it's just me
what about the touch feeling of materials is it nice to touch or not?
Well I have had my fold 2 for a few days now, upon the unboxining and first initial impressions I most certainly didn't go oh this is fragile. The fold 2 feels extremely well constructed and after watching Zacks video I feel even more confident. People say oh but the inner display will scratch with your fingernails (i can't speak for everyone) but I personally cut mine
I am not going to detract this amazing device by getting a case , I have however got my Dbrand skins on the way.
Personally I feel safe and secure and credit to Samsung for the great improvements........:good:
definitely feels better than i thought it would when i took out the box other day. more solid than the Fold(1)
Just got mine in black with blue spine. Was surprised to find that the phones edges are very lightly ridged. That's an amazing subtle touch that I've never seen on any phone I've had. Very nice finish to the device.
Mine had a case on the device and the case actually scratched the polished metal rim also the case too pulled the screen protector slightly need a better case
I bit disappointed in the scratches by the case on the metal hinge that's why the more expensive cases comes with tape to prevent damage. Oh well
