Differences between OP 8 Pro 256 GB International/Europe/India - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

This is an attempt to compile a list of differences between these devices in HW and SW area.
I have read somewhere that 5G might be different in Indian model (not supporting all channels like the 2 other devices). Is that a HW thing or SW?
Can you make an Indian model change OS to EU/ International version? Is it worth it?

ZTE Axon 7 unlock/flash band 20

Hi,
I know that there is an version with band 20 enabled. But its only a version with 64Gb internal and 4Gb of ram. So is there a actuell hardware difference or is it just a software/licensing thing. So there is version with band 20 enabled and a version without would it be possible the see the difference in software and "simply" flash it to enable band 20? And would it be possible to do this on the more powerful version with 128gb and 6 gb of ram?
Sorry for my english.

Someone flashed the A2017G (European/Global) firmware onto a North American A2017U. It broke the modem. Only way to fix it was to flash the A2017U modem, so there seems to be a hardware difference at least between the G and U versions. Unsure about the Chinese version.

Umm, the EU model does have capacitive buttons. Not sure where you've got your info from
I'd recommend the US version of the phone purely because of the support from ZTE to that market. The additional features on the 6GB china version like force touch doesn't justify the trouble you may face from a software perspective. Go with the US version if you can.
My bad
checked amazon germany it has Capacitive button
Thanks for your suggestion
but us model doesnt support b40 lte band
this is the only thing backing be from buying this model
else this thread wouldnt have appeared
in 2017G ,stock rom of 2017u can be flashed?
I suppose you can flash the ROMs interchangeably but I've read that some had some functionalities missing . You can follow @DrakenFX ROM thread which has all the info you need. Considering the EU variant doesn't have an unlocked boot loader yet, flashing ROMs isn't the straightforward solution, let alone flashing a ROM not meant for that variant.
On a side note, the EU one albiet costly, has a 3 year warranty. Of course you and me, cant avail that anyway.
The US is suppose to get the 6GB model in the 4th quarter I think.

Changing the FDD LTE Bands

Had anyone who doesnt have the Global Version tried to change the LTE Band with the Snapdragon software tools? If you haven't heard or tried this just search Unlock LTE Bands in XDA main search. Because I'm think its going to be much cheaper to by the Chinese version that is like only 343USD for 6gb of RAM and 128 ROM and unlock the bands. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Changing the bands with QPST or QXDM can be done but it has no effect on functionality.
Some software will see these bands as unlocked but the phone itself can not make use of them. You might also run into some trouble on MIUI though custom roms seem more flexible with this.
At the moment there is no way to convert a CN (band restricted) model into a Global model (no band restrictions).
Hi, somebody has any news ?
for conversion(activate ) band 20 in Xiaomi Note 2 ?
thank you
This is very important topic I think. What I find really weird that the firmware files (modem) and rom are the same no matter which version you have...
On redmi note 3, kate and kenzo have different rom and different modem files. Its really weird here.

Does the S8 (Exynos Variant) support 64 QAM in UL?

I googled a lot but I can't seem to find a clear answer on that. The Exynos 8895 spec website* says "2CA 150 Mbit/s" in Upload but does the S8 support that too?
Second Question: How do I get rid of the (european) Cat. 9 limitation of the device? What firmware do I have to flash to get Cat 16 support (without voiding knox...)?
* www . samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/Exynos/Solution/MobileProcessor/Exynos_9_Series_8895.html (Can't post link yet).
As I just figured out, DL CAT16 and UL CAT13 only work in South Korea (MCC 450) and Australia (MCC 505). You must be on their network, just flashing the modem firmware isn't enough.
So yes, the Exynos variant supports 64QAM in UL, but we will probably never see it -- while they sold me the phone as CAT16 without mentioning CAT9 a single time.
What a joke.
FWIW: You can flash older modem firmwares (pre July) to get the service menu back (*#2683662#). Knox will not blow.
After lots of arguing with my network operator for several months they seem to have convinced SAMSUNG to enable 256 QAM DL and 64 QAM UL for the EMEA model (SM-G950f and SM-G955F). In previous versions those features definitely did not work.
I was able to verify 256 QAM DL with two operators and 64 QAM UL with three operators. The modem firmware I am on is G950FXXU1CRAP.

Which is the international variant? Which frequencies?

Hi everyone,
I'm a bit confused about which variant of the Meizu Pro 5 is the international version. I've found reference to at least 5 variants around the internet, but no conclusive explanation about which is which or which frequencies they support (at least, I don't know which source of information to trust):
M576 - according to frequencycheck.com this appears to be the China version
M576H - according to http://forum.flymeos.com/thread-399-1-1.html this is the international variant
M576U - according to frequencycheck.com this appears to be the international version
Also, which variant is the Ubuntu version based on? It appears to be the M576, so China version, but is there also an international variant?
Note I've updated this as I got mixed up between model variants and firmware variants, which both use letters but are not the same. Fiormware variant explanations are http://forum.flymeos.com/thread-2976-1-1.html and https://forum.xda-developers.com/meizu-pro-5/how-to/tutorial-change-region-id-to-t3323883
Thanks
