Changing a region of a device .(For example, change a EUROPA device to INDIA device)(Updated Instructions, now working again) - Realme X2 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Disclaimer :
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards. Please think twice if you want to follow this guide .
Realme x2 pro INDIA variant have more apps, settings and features then the EU variant including call recording and theme manager but both of them use the same firmware, same files .
Realme hidden and reveal apps, setting and features based of a region that they set on the device, the region is not the one that you set on the setting of the phone. I have a EU phone and it does not have call recorder and theme manager. As I wanted these features I unlocked my phone, root it and find a way to reveal the call recorder and theme manager by editing some files in the System/etc folder. If you want to do it ,follow this guide- https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-x2-pro/themes/how-to-theme-store-apps-eu-phone-t4128931 It works great but not all want to unlocked their phones and root it .Also this does not reveal all the setting available on the INDIA variant .
I read about a way to change the region of a realme x3 superzoom on Zacharee1 thread . As I understand He wanted to change his phone region because he got carrier locked phone and it block him from unlocking the bootloader of his phone. Realme carrier locked phones give you a error when you try to unlock the bootloader using the realme in depth app. This should work on phones with locked bootloader, which mean no root is needed .
I wanted to check if this way works on our device and wanted to test if it will reveal a dual wi-fi option that many realme x2 pro users reported to be missing on their phones .
First I tested on my device, a realme x2 pro EU variant with unlocked bootloader, my phone already have the dual wi-fi .
After doing the instruction that Zacharee1 written, It works. it let me choose a region. When I enter to the region selecting I saw that my phone region is "EUROPE EUEX" . I tried to change it to India and it reboot my phone . After booting the phone got many new apps and new settings .
For testing the missing dual wi-fi option I contacted a realme user that does not have this setting .He tried to do the same producer and the region of his device is the same has mine, "EUROPE EUEX" .He tried to change it to India and MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX but it does not reveal the dual wi-fi .This lead me to believe that this is not cause of a different software . I believe that phones that do not have the dual wi-fi do not have the hardware to do it .Maybe realme does not include it in some phones and do not write or change the model version .
Note before following this guide , I only tested two regions , "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX" and "IN INDIA" . I do not recommenced to change to any region that has Mobile phone operator company name next to it .
This should not wipe any files in your internal storage, it can delete your wi-fi saved passwords and apn .
Updated Instructions to change to region of the phone. Must have a wifi connection, it does not working with wired connection .
1. Download the Oppo_Free_Unlock_v1.0.zip file from this link - https://mega.nz/file/dUkSxSQS#UbZ82aaef9VBZUOLa8u-yU-Srdu6I0AGufEx02KSoqM , then extract them . virustotal scan 1/63 ,should be safe to download- https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file...9cde13034cdbd8b834855eae8594d166037/detection
2. You need to enable Developer Options and USB Debugging.
Now you need to change some setting in your windows computer .
3.Open Device Manager and expand the Network Adapters category.
4.Disable all your ethernet adapters except the wifi adapter .
5.Click on the action tab, then choose add legacy hardware.
6.Click next.
7.Choose install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced) and click next.
8.Click network adapters, then click next.
9.Select Microsoft and choose Microsoft KM-TEST Loopback Adapter, then click next.
10.Click next, then click finish.
11.In the device manager, browse the Network adapters and double click on Microsoft KM-TEST Loopback Adapter to open its properties.
12. Go to the Advanced tab and find the Network Address option
13.Click the blank chackbox and paste 704D7B61ABCD in the text box .
14.Close the properties window and close Device Manager.
15.Go to where you extracted the unlock tools. Open Sec5.exe.
16.Make sure your device is in MTP mode, and then press the Unlock button.
17.After about a second, a string of numbers and letters should show up in the left pane. A few seconds later, "OK" should start flashing in the right pane. Press "Stop unlocking" and close the window.
18. Open the phone app on your device and dial *#3954391#. Then dial *#391#. A screen should come up with a whole bunch of regions listed. Take a look which region is marked in green, this is your current region .Write it that you can go back if you want .
19. Now you can choose any region you want, I tested two, "IN INDIA" AND "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX"
Your phone should now reboot. Once it's rebooted, your region will have changed .
Every time you changed region and want to change it again you need to use the software .You can get a code that you can use every time to change the region instead of using this software every time . Update- one person report that this code(token) wont work for every time as his STAMP code changed .
For this you need to .
Open the dialer app , dial *#9434# ,press authtokendecrypt .You will see a IMEI and STAMP. Open the Sec5.exe and write the IMEI and STAMP shown on your phone in the blank space of the IMEI and STAMP in the software and press Generate a token, you will see a string of numbers and letters, write it on the token blank text box and click authtokendecrypt .Now you will see every text written in green .Now you can follow the steps in the guide, but do only step 11 and 12 .The Token that the software gave you is the same code that you need to enter in the *#9434# every time you want to change region so you do not need to use the software ever again .
For those that only want to reveal theme store and call recording I recommend to change the region to "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX" and choose regular country that support call recording like South Africa,Vietnam,Taiwan,Tunisia,Thailand,Singapore,
Russia and much more in the setting of the phone .
For those that want theme store and all the apps and settings that the INDIA variant has change to "IN INDIA" .
@goitalone reported that after changing from "IN INDIA" to "Netherlands T-mobile" gave him much better call quality .He had very bad call quality on his original region - "IN INDIA" . Also he was able to change his region again after he changed to "Netherlands T-mobile" but he got error when he dial *#3954391#, the error does not block him from changing the region .
Detailed explanation about realme call recording blocking
Realme implement the call recording blocking in really complex way . I will try to simplify this .
My device original internal region is "EUROPE EUEX" . On this region you can not enable call recording no matter which country you choose on your phone setting(Without root). The region "EUROPE EUEX" block this option .On the other end if you change it to "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX", this region wont block this option but realme implemented one more way that block the call recording option .The call recorder option is hidden or shown by the country that you choose in the setting . There are many countries that you can choose to enable call recording so this is not a issue .Some countries that wont block call receding are South Africa,Vietnam,Taiwan,Tunisia,Thailand,Singapore,
Russia and much more, you can just change the country in the setting, close and open dialer and if it does not block it you will see the call recording option, you even do not need to reboot the phone .
This blocking way this time is implemented by files in system\etc\oppoRegionFeatures .There is files for each country . If the file has the line "oppo.phone.nodisplayrecord" in it and you choose this country in the setting the call recording will be not available. If you have root you can edit the file for enabling it for countries that block the call recording .You just need to remove the line "oppo.phone.nodisplayrecord" in the country that you want .
For other region like "IN INDIA" I do not remember if you need to choose countries that does not block call recording but I do remember that if you choose countries that do not block call recording it will be available .
I prefer to use "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX" as this have less apps that I do not need and It has theme manager that I use .

I had one of my tester with the same issue, I do not know why this happen, it maybe can be a PC issue with the software or that the software block the network because of location . The tester gave me his IMEI and stamp code and I gave him the token that the software gave me. If you want I can do the same for you. Do it only if you really want, I do not want to pressure you to send me anything. If yes, send me a private message for this .Do not write it on this thread.

hola, cuando pongo el codigo *#3954391# me pone "se ha producido un problema de conexion o el codigo mmi no es valido"
en ajustes no tengo para elegir region, solo para el idioma.

Please edit the message to English language and tell me if you get ok in the Sec5.exe software(see the image that I attached) or enter the token and got green text in all four lines . If you do not get, it wont work .

If sec5.exe gives me ok I have the 4 lines in green, I entered the IMEI and stamp and put the token, that is, the 4 lines in green were unlocked. The problem is to put the code * # 3954391 # that gives me that error, so it won't let me change region

I never experienced it, I just put *#3954391# , then I write *#391# and it open the a page that you can change the region.

I did it the first time, and I put Thailand region true.
But I wanted to change to another region and it gives me that error

I do not tested changing to Thailand or any region that has Mobile phone operator company name next to it .
As I written I only tested "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX" and "IN INDIA"

Well, I did not fall into that detail, it may be because of that.
Thank you very much for your help
I will continue testing.

I edited it with bold red color. Maybe now people will pay more attention to this .

Does this procedure apply only to stock ROM?

Does this affec the OTA updates?
can we still receive the latest OTA updates if we change the region?
And if no how can we get back to EU region?

You just do the guide again or do as I written in the thread. Please read the whole guide before doing it .

About OTA, I did not test it but most likely you will get ota accordingly to the region that you change .India and EU is the same firmware but maybe they get ota in different time . If you do not get ota ,maybe if you will revert to your original region you will get a ota . I changed region several times between "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX" and "IN INDIA" .

Do you need to use software at LEAST ONCE to get all green?
Mine aren't all green.
Also, do I need to be connected to pc each time for token to work or no?

Here is what I did after typing token.
Watch video I just uploaded to YouTube.
https://youtu.be/qBCbA452-O0

Was able to switch back after new Token to original india region confirmed, yes!

Will it reset the phone during the process of changing the region with deleting all the apps?

Nope, it did take away the only one of crappy apps that came pre-installed/pre-activated (Game Space I think it was called) that I wasn't able to disable using adb commands I found on a different forum, so I am happy with that as well as now people are able to hear me during phone calls after switching from India IN to Netherlands T-mobile, yet the quality is still not great, at least it works.
Use Google Voice mostly anyways but, don't like when things aren't working on my phone either.
EDIT:
After switching regions, I actually found that I also seemingly had to switch APN's briefly and then back again for my microphone to work again during calls.
That's what seemingly happened but, I'm not sure exactly.

I need only Call Recording button. What region you suggest me to switch to?
As I understand after switching to "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX" I will have Call Recorder and get rid of Game Space (I don't need this app).
But how switching to other region affects quality of the call? Will it somehow decrease if I switch to "MULTILINGUAL VERSION EX"?

secret code Zte blade (san francisco)

I'm not responsible for what might happen on your phone if you choose to dial any of these!
These are the codes that work on the standard phone dialler app on the Orange San Francisco, but I'm pretty sure they'll be almost identical on other models that we collectively know as "ZTE Blade". Known small differences (in texts) are down to whether the firmware expects to be running on an OLED or TFT display, and whether you've deleted seemingly unused apps like ChiperTest.apk, fcctest.apk and QcNvTest.apk. Most are prefixed with "*983*", which is "*ZTE*" in phone letters -- I've added a mnemonic for the other part where I think it's obvious (feel free to suggest better ones!).
"Automatic Inspection" runs through the basic tests automatically (usually you need press a button to move on to the next bit -- don't get thrown by any blank colour test screens!). There are a number of interesting items for developers, with hardware info and other goodies. If any of the descriptions don't make the function obvious then it's either poorly written or I don't know exactly what it does (I'll happily update this if others can explain better).
If the code has been recognised by the dialler then it will react immediately when you enter the final "#". If nothing happens when you've done that, don't press Dial!
Edit: on the ROMs based on the Japanese 2.2 you need to put the phone into "Engineering Mode" first, by dialling *ZTE*OPENEM# (*983*673636#) -- this action will be confirmed by a quick pop-up. To close this mode, dial *ZTE*CLOSEEM# (*983*2567336#) -- this then prompts whether you want to do a Factory Reset, which you do not have to do (you can simply Back away from this screen).

Hello, what code shude I use to know if my SF is TFT or Amoled?
Regards!
Check the build number in Settings>About Phone. AMOLED ends in 05, LCD ends in 08. IIRC all white SF models are 08 and most grey are 05 (unless its a newer unit which will likely be 08).
Thank´s man.
Mine is 01. What that means?
Looking at the screen characteristics it seems like LCD.
Thanks man. great post
Really nice. Works on Boost Mobile Warp Sync N9515.
Would you happen to have a code that forces prompt for unlock? (Changing sim cards doesn't trigger anything)

I think unlocking the Boost Mobile is a lost cause. I've tried several other sims and the only codes I've found to show the unlock menu don't work:
1) Alright then please remove the SIM card and try this code ###825*09#,
2) Got the prompt for code? Please enter the code you received,
3) Failed above, try *983*8284# to access the Unlock Menu,
4) Failed above, finally try *983*865625# to access the Unlock Menu.

[MYSTERY] Unlocked SGS can't make calls

I recently bought a second-hand SGS, supposedly locked to 3. The firmware was from 3 UK, but when I punched in *#7465625# it showed all locks are OFF.
Hot for tasty Froyo, first thing i did was to upgrade from the branded Eclair ROM the phone came with to an unbranded stock Froyo ROM. Kies gave me a hard time so I used ODIN. Then I inserted my SIM and realized I could not make calls or even register on my GSM network. (Had not tried the SIM before, so I don't know if the flash caused this)
I found out that the flash had changed my Product Code to KOR, but I managed to change it using THIS GUIDE. However, the step "rm -rf /efs/nv_data.bin.md5" did not work as it was write/read protected. After reboot, the SIM didn't work so I did the "busybox chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin". The procedure changed the Pcode to H3G, which I think is the original code, although I was going for XEE.
IMEI has not changed (*#06# gets same no. as is printed below battery)
I live in Sweden, my present CSC is XEE, Product Code is H3G. Network Control Key is 00000000, could this be related?
I considering doing the Product Code change procedure again and see if I can change it too XEE hoping that will fix it, but I'm not even sure this is related to my problem.
Other than that, I'm running out of ideas. However, I'm new to the SGS scene. I'm reaching out for someone with more experience to give me some new ideas.
I've spent hours and hours at this and I've googled like possessed. If I'm being a noob or have overlooked something, let me know - just tell me what I should do to fix this phone.
Go into Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks and check that Network Mode reads as auto mode. Then open Access Points Names and check that APNs are listed that suit your carrier.
If all of that checks out, go into an app like SGS Tools and use the secret code to check Band Selection.
Thanks for your reply!
I have inserted APN for data. Though, is this really necessary just for 2G calls and SMS?
When I choose "Select Automatically" in Settings/Wireless and network/Mobile Networks/Network Operators then I sometimes get "Registered on network". Then, when trying to call, I get "Data network not available". Band Selection (from SGS Tools secret codes) show:
= BAND SELECTION =
[1] AUTOMATIC []
[2] WSCDMA BAND []
[3] GSM BAND []
[4] COMBI BANDS []
When I select the network operator manually, I get "Unable to select network. Select automatically".
An alternative Go to Rom Kitchen build a rom with
XWJS8 > Hardcore Kernel >CSC CPW > Modem JPY and whatever else you require that should give all UK main networks .

I got Data Network not available when I was investigating my phone (that is, messing about) and changed my Network Mode. Go to Settings > Wireless and Network > Network Mode and choose GSM/WCDMA Auto mode. If you don't have connection, then try first GSM Only, then WCDMA Only...then back to both.
And yes, you need to have a data network connection to make calls. Not sure why. Must be something to do with billing.
I would hate to be right but are you sure, as you've bought it second hand, that it hasn't been registered as stolen? Do you know any history of the phone?
Product code should be GT-I9000HKDXXX, where XXX should be your CSC which is XEE that makes it: GT-I9000HKDXEE, you should not use H3G at all.
double post...sorry

Weird, I was sure APN is only required for MMS and Internet, not for calls and SMS. Anyway, I have APN so that's not it.

No, I don't and I can't be 100% sure it's not stolen. However, I have a bill of sale with all his information and I know where he lives so if that's the case, it can be sorted.

I think you are right, and I managed to change it so now both CSC and Product Code reads XEE, which should be correct for Sweden. However, the problem remains the same.
There is a possible solution from HERE, however it seems rather ...old. Having no other ideas I'll try it unless someone comes up with a better idea:

Possible problems (I had them all due trying different thing to solve it):
No service.
There is no service even a functional SIM card is inserted.
You cannot receive or make calls, receive or send sms, etc (obviously).
Freeze / lock-down.
The phone will not react to anything besides pressing power key.
You cannot unlock the display to enter PIN code.
Wrong PIN code.
The phone will not accept any PIN code on any SIM (even the correct one ).
Phone displays "wrong PIN code" message even the try counter (three strikes you know) does not change.
Product code changed to KOR.
= Blocked Kies updates (without a registry "hack")
Here is how to fix any or all of them:
Downgrade to I9000XWJM9 firmware with Odin (as usual).
Remove SIM card from the phone (to be able to boot in first place) and start the phone.
Gain root access and install "Root Explorer" (or similar), ADB works too.
Open Root Explorer and go to the "EFS" folder in the root.
Check the date on .nv_data.bak and .nv_data.bak.md5 files.
If it is earlier than 08/26/2010 you´re clear, if it is later then you may stop reading.
Once the date has been checked, select files nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 simultaneously and delete (yes, delete) them. Reboot the phone.
Now your phone is in the same condition (atleast permanent memory wise) as it was prior I9000XXJPC update.
There is a safety feature I would call "a dead mans switch".
If the current nv_data files are deleted, the phone will make new nv_data files from the .bak (backup) files (if they excist). The new nv_data files will be signed automatically so they pass the checks (none of the errors listed above will occur). However if they do not excist, the phone will just write an empty / test file (= IMEI corrupted, no service, etc). Also if you just rename .bak files they will have wrong signatures and the same problems will occur.
There is no bootloaders included, so it is safe to flash for everyone.

Have you tried doing a factory reset? May not work but may be worth a try.
Could only be either apn related (doubtful), faulty sim or stolen/lost phone. Unless hardware related.

Thanks, it seems a long shot but I will try it tomorrow.
I've already flashed the phone to XWJM9 with correct CSC folllowing the guide in my previous post. Restoring nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 from the .bak files didn't help, the .bak files were just three days old so the data there might have been contaminated.
As far as I can tell there's either a hardware fault, the phone is stolen, or I've messed up the precious data in /EFS by my first ODIN flash, before I did the back-up. Every guide should have that backup procedure as first step, mine didn't. :'(
I've mailed my operator so hopefully I'll get an answer tomorrow to whether the IMEI is blocked.

[help] I see my IMEI but...

Hi all, i've purchased an SM-G900F but there is a problem, it has rooted.
I've noticed those :
- I can see IMEI number (if i do #*06#) but my EFS folder is empty
- When turn on WiFi , the device will reboot automatically and appear " Factory Mode is On"
- i can make first call with sim , after i'm unable to call , but the 3G network works
- Whit ES File Explorer i've see that my efs folder is empty (But i can see my IMEI with secret code)
- In Device Info i see one time "Official Status" and another time "Personalized Status"
I'm tinking that old owner is a very st......d guy. Howewer these are all information :
Model : SM-G900F
Version : 4.4.2
BASEBAND : NE2
BUILD : NE2
What do you think? How i can solve the problems?
EDIT 1 : i've formatted from recovery , now it ask me to insert the samsung account of old owner...
- Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to obtain more detailed information about your device, including Model, Baseband, Bootloader, CSC, IMEI, S/N, etc...
- May be the Reactivation lock has been enabled. You should ask the ex-owner for the account.

The guy was not traceable now. He's vanished ....
You are kinda between a rock and a hard place if reactivation lock is enabled and you don't have the login to toggle that. In most cases that means that the phone is stolen and this is an explicit anti theft feature. You need that login from the original owner. Or if you have the original receipt, you might be able to convince a Samsung repair center to disable the reactivation lock for you.
In any event, as to your original question the most likely cause of the problem is a corrupt configuration file, namely a text file named "factorymode". You can try this repair from the command line or a root aware text editor.
Code:
echo -n ON > /efs/FactoryApp/factorymode
.

Great. But you neglected to tell us if you tried (or even noticed) the suggestion to check your factory mode configuration file. The contents should show "ON" (yes, "ON") and the permissions 0644. Your efs folder may appear empty to you when it really isn't. It depends on whether you have your file browser (or command line options) set to display hidden and system files or not.

y factory mode is on , because i can't acces my wifi, and it appear that factory mode is on. I've set to see hidden files , but now i haven't root on my device
Edit: terminal emulator say : no such file or directory
Edit 2 : Solved with terminal emulator and busy box Thanks to @leoaudio13 for his dump
These are the command for mount efs :
su
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12
mount -w -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p12
reboot
After then , with text editor i've disabled FactoryApp in efs folder tanks to all
.
For the benefit of anyone else reading this thread, do not repeat the steps in the post above until
you understand what they do. A typo in those steps could easily cause you endless grief.
Glad you go it working.
If those steps fixed your issue, then you mislead us with erroneous information earlier. You said that you had an empty efs folder earlier. But those steps would not have been necessary or effective if that was accurate. You must have had a missing efs partition. There is a considerable difference between an empty and nonexistent item and that datum would have led us to a solution.
On a normal phone, there would be an extant efs folder and it would be automatically mounted at boot. A missing folder strongly suggests that the wrong firmware or a flash error took place. Presumably by the previous owner.
Anyone using the make filesystem command mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 should be very careful with typos as an incorrect address could cause major corruption that would be difficult to recover from.

Xiaomi Mi Bunny Watch Q internationalization

Please somebody help to modify firmware to enable international GPRS connections
What we currently have:
1. Mi Bunny Watch Q is Working on MT6261 SOC
2. Operating system is modified 2011 year Nucleos RTOS, which was widely used in older featurephones
3. Firmware is not available for separate downloading. Watch updating is OverTheAir (via Bluetooth connection from your smartphone with original APP, and, PROBABLY via GPRS connection) firmware files are called
SH08_PCB01_gprs_MT6260_S00.MAUI_11B_W13_08_MP_V15.bin
My current firmware version is MAUI.11B.W13.08.MP.V15
updates are downloaded from http://upgrade.imibaby.net/upgradeWatch
also you can find http://sw105-online.imibaby.net/ link in firmware - probably for watch activation
All we have now - full ROMdump of my watch divided to parts with Readback Extractor mtk
Also we can get acess to NVRAM and FAT partition with MauiMETA_v9.1635.23 tool (you need NVRAM database file for MT6261 chip - i've gt one from Keneksi X8 firmware kit ( or from official site ) also i have used scatter file from Keneksi to download ramdump with SP Flash Tool
Also there is good tool Binwalk which i don't know how to use well
4. Watch activation procedure looks like: ( english user manual for similar product )
-turn on the watch (lights on and sound prompt)
-insert SIMcard (sound prompt)
-----------we are currently here------------------
-GPRS connection is automatically established
-and watches time should set up the time (you get a sound prompt) /what notifies server of pairing ready status/ - this should be a sign and confirmation of successful internet connection
-you scan QR code in your user-manual (smartphone receives pairing settings from server) and establish connection between smartphone and WATCH
...
5. Watch officially supports only Chinese SIM cards. Confirmed by manufacturer. Chinese cellular operators settings are preinstalled. MNC MCC and APN can be found in firmware like 460 46000 46002 46007 etc
i have tryed to change MCC and MNC to my operators (25501) (my operator supports any APN so i got luck here)
and have got a breakthrough here - watch began to establish GPRS connections via "internet" APN
but no luck - time is not set up, i've got no "successful connection" sound prompt, and it is still impossible to activate it.
I have contacted manufacturer via Weibo and WeChat.
Everywhere i got refused with corporate security reasons, BUT at the very beginning i think some very helpful manager answered and tryed to give help (later he disappeared)
He requested from me to fill up XML form with my cellular operator's settings and sent image explaination
Hello,Mr Pumpkin
There is some instructions you can follow.
First, please make sure the sim card support calling in or calling out.
Secondly,be sure the sim card supports 2G GPRS connection.
You can consult the local operators about specific parameters.
The "code" parameter and "apn" parameter in the following table must be filled in correctly.
The other parameters are alternative.
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <Account>
- <AcntHdr>
<AcntVer>1.0</AcntVer>
</AcntHdr>
- <AcntBody>
- <SIM Operator="BEELINE" Code="25502">

Also some discussion is going on MIUI forum and russian 4pda forum
International Apn settings
The answer from the Chinese manufacturer is an xml file that we should add to the device ROM. It is not so different to the following thread

I have my bunny watch 2, that I have paired during a visit to Sz, and will try to add the xml file today. Hopefully we can get a connection.

Excellent desicion! I will try to do it.
I can assume, that developer didn't offered me this thing because we actually don't have access to ROM. We can get there only with MAUI META tool. Also the watch is not based on Android, so we will have to find correct folder to place the file and guess correct name for it.
Also XML should be specifically formatted, and we have this format from developer.
Easier said than done, but still I got some progress today.
After reviewing the ROM I was able to find several At commands to control the device.
I'm missing the sintaxis on many of them, but I was able to directly perform and receive a call from the Hyper terminal.
I named the xml file default.xml and placed on the root directory and several others but no luck achieving a Apn configuration.
Also I browsed the fat and nvram looking for hints on how the device was configured while using the Chinese card, but no luck there.
If I'm able to find the device configuration At command it should be pretty straightforward.
Just as a note, the App is fully Chinese, no options on the menu are translated.

Connecting outside of china
Well, today I got connection from outside of China.
I played with several of the At commands that were supposed to actually configure the settings, and all seemed to make the terminal hang.
But after rebooting the phone it got a connection. Now it's fully working.
I used the AT+CGDCONT command.
Then I reviewed again the Fat to look for changes and the only file that was modified is store_info. Dat file.
That file was loaded in the same back up you made, with China Mobile settings, and now mine has got the unicom settings.
For the information it contains it looks fairly similar to the format the engineer gave you a solution for.

Excellent news. Now i just would like to have some more details, on how i could repeat your success.
AT+CGDCONT is not working for me - no answer from watch to this command.
Can you provide some more info. What MCC and MNC does your cellular operator has? What version of firmware do you use.
Did you actually implemented any changes to your firmware?
Which terminal software do you use? Which COM device you selected? Was DEBUG mode active?
Or what should i do to get my watch connected?
Thank you.

Did you connected with a Chinese Sim card and then changed it to a foreign one?
So I first activated my device in China with a Xiaomi Sim card.
Then traveled back to Hk, and tried with Hk local China unicom, China Mobile and three Sim cards. None worked.
Then I tried the at command for setting up the Apn settings on the device. The commands would not give an OK response, so I do not know exactly which one worked.
Then rebooted the device, and it can connect with Three and China mobile cards. UNICOM still not working.
I saw the change in the file mentioned above. It changed from one operator to the other.
HK is not so far from China, so i think there could be native support for your operators.
Anyway, could you please provide other then China Mobile store_info.dat file from your FAT partition, and a ROMdump to compare. I think you have a more fresh watch firmware. Thank you
Today I'm in China so I will not be able to upload the files to a G drive location, tomorrow I should be able to upload them.
I have bought a new device today (this time the mini GPS, 6261 based) and done a backup before the network registration and after.
I can confirm that all changes are happening to the file named "store_info.dat", and all the new data is matching to the xml format you were given. But written on a low level way inside the .dat file.
The GPRS - APN settings are independent of the GSM settings. So you will need 2G settings for your local operator, be sure you are registered in the network by performing a call to your SIM Card number then modify the store_info file with your specific operator parameters. Be sure to do this on the Hex editor so file length is constant after your perform the modification.

I am bothered with MCC and MCC settings. All i can see in DAT file is apn for internet wap and mtp, but no readable data about cellular operator
Update: i have sniffed through the firmware again, and i got that China, Hong-Kong and Taiwan are natively supported by the watch... Probably you will get some problems with diferrent cellular operators, but all 3 MCC codes 460 466 and 454 are in firmware
If you keep looking in the firmware, just bellow the MCC codes you will actually find the APN settings. Keep searching to the bottom of the file and you will find the W. A. P... U. N.I.C.O.M... C.H.I.N.A...M.O.B.I.L.E part of the string, that means that beside replacing your MMC on the top of the file above by replacing the 460, 466, 454 codes, you also have to look toward the end of the file and replace the 460000, 454000, 46600 codes with your combination of MCC and MN settings.
Since you cannot add length to the file, remember to find an operator WAP setting that will fit in the current.

Time to sum up progress.
Activation option #1
Have your Chinese Seller activate the device using a Chinese Sim card before shipping, and this should ensure full communication in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan. (460.466.454) and possibly in the following places:
208 - France, 404 - India, 405 - India, 454 - Hong Kong, 455 - Macao, 466 - Taiwan, 502 - Malaysia, 505 - Australia, 510 - Indonesia, 515 - Philipines, 520 - Thailand, 525 - Singapore.
Given that MCC codes for several operators in those countries are included in the list inside the FW.
If you are choosing this way, you need to remember the device is only 2G - GMS 900/1800 compatible, so before you waste time, ensure you carrier is compatible. Australia has just dumpled 2G support so don't even try.
You can execute the following AT code before purchasing the SIM card, and it will tell you the carriers that the device could possibly connect: AT+COPS=?
It will reply the MCC Codes and operator name, with that information you can look for a valid unlocked and activated sim card.
Since device was activated in china it will easily go trough the regular process of scanning the QR code and adding the device to your APP.
Activation Option #2.
Modifiy the MCC parameters inside the FW and include your specific operator details.
FlammingPumpking, you can help us comment on how you succeed with activation.

How to force 4G only (LTE only) Mode?

Can someone help me I am trying to force my Huawei P10 Plus to use LTE/4G only mode. I have latest Firmware/Patch Level.
I have tryed many service codes in format like *#*#.....#*#* codes but I can not set the LTE Only mode.
Isn't it possible without "root"?
It is possible to force "4G only" without root. First download "Setting Database Editor" from playstore. Open it and look for "hw_networkmode_preferences". I use this value "9,3,2,1,11" on my phone. Save it and restart your phone. If you still don't get "4G only" option then you need to open the "Setting Database Editor" again and look for "hw_add_4g_only". Mine was set to "250". You need to change it according to your country mobile code. Look for your mobile country code here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_country_code. In my case I change the value to "250;502" since 502 is my country code. Save it and restart your phone.

Look for your mobile country code here: <1. o prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!>. In my case I change the value to "250;502" since 502 is my country code. Save it and restart your phone.

Thank you very much for your Help! I already installed the DB Settings Editor and found out that hw_networkmode_preferences were already "9,3,2,1,11" so this wasn't the case. Additionally I found that I have to add "hw_add_4g_only" so I added it with the wrong Country Code because I didn't know what the hw_add_4g_only means. I was searching for it a few days now and never got an answer, so I was trying to ask here. And you made it clear now. The Wikipedia Link was very helpful and it works now for my Country. I have to set it 262 for O2 Telefonic Germany.
So again Thank you very very much!
Using Huawei P10 (VTR-L29) 8.0.0.374 (185) solution above works for me too.

Worked on my Samsung Galaxy S9
Honor 6X is stubborn as heel... Nothing works.
Can't even find the commands... Sigh!
First Method :
1. Use SIM 1 as the default connection setting
2.
You need to install this app for FREE
at Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teknokia.force4glteonly
pro version : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teknokia.force4glteonlypro
galaxy store: https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.teknokia.force4glteonly
pro version : https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.teknokia.force4glteonlypro
3. Run the application, press the SIM 1 only or Android testing button. You will enter two LTE Switcher options and also 2 Android testing options.
4. You can try all of them which support your phone.
If the telecommunication operator you are using does not support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and uses LTE Only Mode, so regular calls will be blocked.
Second Method :
1. DOWNLOAD Force 4G LTE Only 2020 Pro application from Google Play
2. Run the Application
3. Select SIM 1 Only menu, then Hidden Activity
4. wait to load until 100%
5. tap the search box type RadioInfo
6. In the DEvice Info app section, there is a RadioInfo activity.
7. Long Tap 3 options will appear: Create Shortcut, Launch Activity, Edit Shortcut. I recommend Select Create Shortcut to make it easier for us to enter network activity mode without having to bother opening the Force 4G LTE Only 2020 Pro application.
8. Please select Launch Activity to enter the Radio Info
9. Select LTE Only in set preferred network type
I was able to get it working on my huawei y7a sometime last year using settings database editor. Abouy 2 weeks ago i factory reset my device due to an unrelated issue and now when i try to enable it again i get an error saying my system software has rejected the edit. I tried with the version of setedit from f-droid and got the following "Unexpected failure you shouldn't not change private system settings." does anyone know what the problem could be?

I have the same issue with p30 pro. It seems to me that after some recent updates, they've locked those settings somehow.

I found a solution. You would have to use "Adb shell" (usb debugging).
The code is:
adb shell settings put system hw_networkmode_preference 11
