Guide for Calibration Finger Print after loss data calibration - Nubia Red Magic 5G / 5S Guides, News, & Discussion

Guide for calibration FingerPrint for Red Magic 5G
After unlock bootloader .. some people may loss data calibration and some people could get it back simply just by locking the bootloader,
but if you want to get ur finger print back to work for both bootloader unlock and bootloader locked after loosing data calibration
You have to do same like instruction below:
- Dial *#9959# (dont allow data memory and clear data in system app In-Display FingerPrint)
- uncheck performance checkbox , check only calibration checkbox
- 4 step for calibration
All steps shall be in dark place
1. Press START and dont press anything it will pass
2.Press NEXT and by lattice glove press on circle it should pass
3.Press NEXT and put some anything black non reflectuvec( the display became black for calibration of the black) and it should pass
The fourth step the hardest u may fail so many times
4.Press NEXT and by thumb finger almost in vertical position press on circle(keep the thumb well pressed the initial part of the finger and slightly raised on the knuckle must be vertical in the straight direction not horizontally or slightly)
Note fourth step u may fail and repeat from begining u may reach 20 trials or more dont get bored u will success
If you are lucky see success alert in green color
In system app in setting In-Display-Fingerprint allow access data memory and reboot device .
Enjoy again your Finger Print!
P.S. = doing this procedure in a place in total darkness, there must be only the light of the display
In 4 step the finger must cover the darker part of the circle (for this I say to raise it slightly) and it must be well pressed but not too strong.
For test I used before unbricktool NO EU after I did ota update to 3.13 ,note in "in display finger print" system app you must have 3.91MB without cache and user data only for app this is very important also delete cache and data.
This procedure isn't professional but effective!

Realy appreciate the way you explained the process thanks bro it worked for me for bootloader unlocked ??

Step 4 is making me want to throw my phone at the wall lok

I notice you have actual values for each of your tests.... Mine always come back 0s

i'm having the exact same issue on the oneplus 7tpro 5g mclaren. same deal, calibration data gets shot when you unlock bootloader. ive been working on LOS bringup and have everything working but fod. I tried the calibration tests but it fails at black_rubber_sleve test. our app looks different then yours. How did you figure out the procedure? could we maybe get together and you could help me?

This error may depend on the brightness of the place where you are doing the calibration and above all on the position of your thumb and the pressure you apply on the rim.

Does anyone have any better tips on how to do step 4?
I've tried north of 50 times and can't proceed

@s4lv0.88 Can you do me a favour?
Can you check your Drawable setting's Smallest Width for me, and also check the fingerprint scanner placement?
Smallest Width: In Developer options, scroll down to the Drawing category, and you'll find Smallest Width
For Fingerprint scanner position, if you run "adb shell am start -n com.goodix.fingerprint.setting/com.goodix.fingerprint.setting.MainActivity", you can go into "Locate Sensor"
This will really help! Thank you!
EDIT: I've just reached out to the CEO of Goodix, the sensor manufacturer to see if it's possible to get access to at least the specs of the actual calibration weights, or possibly the option to purchase them directly.

Thank you so much - do you know what your DPI setting is at? The combination of the two allows for everyone to make sure that the fingerprint reader (software) is in the same position as the physical one

Tried too many times with no luck, step 4 always fails.
If anyone succeeds with this, tips will be appreciated.

I am having the same problem. I went all the way to deleting the Efs file of the phone. I could not find a solution in neither Chinese rum nor global rum. I wrote to Supporta. I saw that they didn't know anything. The thing I'm most sure about this phone is the worst phone in the world when it comes to software. I will never use zte or nubia again and would not recommend anyone to buy it.

Someone who has success in calibration, please send me the in-Display Fingerprint.apk app. I'll just try.

Successfully ! I did it !!! I passed more than 2000 attempts, but without success. I asked my wife to do it, and she did it on the second try ? I knew something was wrong with my finger

[Q] HD mini screen calibration

Hello,
I can't seem to find the setting to calibrate my screen. My screen is just off with the touch screen so I need to calibrate it. On other forums I read it should be under: settings menu all system. In that screen there should be a "screen" button. But in my dutch ROM 1.36.404.1 (94358) that button is not there. Can anyone confirm the button should be indeed there? And would there be an other way to start the calibration?
thx
Paul
In settings button, you will see sound & display button, come to the last option in this menu which is of G sensor, calibration, follow instructions and you are done.
option not available

thanks, but I checked it: the last option is G-Sensor, which helps me to calibrate it, the one before is for display: in that one, I can only adjust the brightness settings, when back light is switched off, whether is is controlled automatically etc, but nothing like screen calibration. Would this be ROM dependent?
There is no screen calibration control for current HTC models with capacitive screens. The original calibration control doesn't work as it's designed for stylus input and needs a pin point press to register.
So, HTC leave the Screen control out of the build, which is also the reason Cleartype can't be activated as it's part of the same control.
If you really want to try it, look in the Cleartype topic for the registry change needed to make the Screen control visible, but beware that using screen calibration might make things worse rather than better !
Inaccurate touch centering is one of the built-in downside of capacitive touch screens. There's no such thing as pin-point accuracy in this territory.
We're seeing similar complaints about Android devices, especially the Nexus One. The theory is that the software is supposed to be intelligent enough to register where a 'broad' point of contact is intended to be centred, but sometimes it simply doesn't work as it should.
The only remedy, if a soft reset doesn't sort it is to do a hard reset but reports say the benefits of this may only be short lived.
Use this registry setting
HKLM\ControlPanel\Pen and change from 1 to 0.
infact u dun need this function coz u'll never pass the calibration, i'd juz tried it yesterday(the capititive mon can't make an accurate calibration)
at last i need to soft-reset my device to leave the calibration page= =

You're right! Although my fingers are not the smallest, it does not work. Thanks and topic closed I guess.

[Q] Did anyone discover any super secret mode for stylus calibration yet?

Man, I tested a demo set and the pen was SERIOUSLY off. Whatever I wrote was like a 2-3 pixels off. The only thing the staff could tell me was to send the set for repair if I ever got this issue. They quickly removed the demo set after I showed them the problem. I am pretty sure Samsung is not going to replace the WHOLE screen just for this issue, anyone discovered anything yet?
i have the same problem.
i cant write with this poor precision...
need to recalibrate the s-pen... or the screen, i dont know...
Me to... i hope there is such a thing because if i zoom in a screenshot and draw something the offset is over 3 mm for me
Have none of you realized that this is intentional as a result of left and right hand mode so that you can see the line you are drawing? its not a calibration issue at all.
maybe...
but it's stupid.
i want a perfect precision, not at 2-3mm....

As was mentioned above and in another thread all Wacom tablets/pens behave this way so that you can see what you are drawing, not just the note. It takes some getting used to but after a bit of practice it'll become second nature to you, just like the first few times you use a keyboard in your life and you have to search all over for half a minute for a single key
All that said I would like more options exposed for the pen/digitizer just like you get with a Wacom tablet such as tip feel and tilt sensitivity and calibration. Perhaps we should all send Samsung an email requesting a settings app for the pen, and/or ask Wacom if they intend to build an app for their pens for Android since they might appear on more that just Samsung devices now.
Or maybe we'll have to wait for ICS for proper pen settings. Then again someone crafty on XDA might manage it.
I use a lenovo x220T tablet PC with a wacom. On the computer, it will show a little dot wherever you are hovering over the screen. This dot makes a 1-2 mm offset easily usable. Does the galaxy note have this little dot when you are hovering over the screen? If it doesn't, that's the problem...
Maybe once the SDK is out we can create an application to make this dot visible.

Haven't seen the hovering dot for pen in apps I've tried so far
I also use a x220t and wish the calibration capability was available on the Note.
have you noticed that you can switch the screen from switching off by keeping the stylus about half a cm from the screen.. the stylus seems to have a method of interacting with the note without touching..

More Than Three Fingerprints?

First off let me say I'm aware of the scanning several fingers per "fingerprint slot" method. In my experience this reduced the accuracy of it properly reading each individual finger. Maybe I didn't do it as well as I could have or something, but when it comes to getting past the lockscreen I don't have a huge amount of patience for tinkering.
My question is, now that we have root and Safestrap and people are coming out with actual custom ROMs, is it feasible that we're going to see ROMs with more than three fingerprint slots or is that something caused by a limitation that a ROM can't really overcome?
Perhaps someone can explain better how to work around this, but my particular needs for the fingerprint scanner - I think - limit the options when faced with only 3 slots considerably. Namely, I want to be able to hand the phone to my wife and have her be able to unlock it just as easily. I do most of the driving so if something needs to be done using my phone I give it to her rather than try to work it while I'm on the road. Plus there's all the times where one of us doesn't have their phone handy so we just borrow the other one's phone.
Thanks in advance!
When you go to add a new fingerprint and you have to swipe your finger multiple times you can use each finger individual for every swipe, ex: for setting up a new fingerprint you are required to swipe 5 times(don't know the actual number) swipe once with your thumb, once with your index. or once with your finger and once with your wifes, kids, etc.

I probably should have mentioned that I was aware of the scanning several fingers per "fingerprint slot" method, and then mentioned that in my experience this made it more difficult to get a successful read when trying to unlock the screen.
Anyone? Please keep in mind I'm asking about whether this is something that can be done, not whether people think it needs to be or whether a work-around exists since I've made it as clear as I can without multi-colored bold flashing text saying that I am already aware of the work-around.
Is it feasible that we might be seeing more than 3 fingerprint storage slots in future custom ROMs?

Hide the iris scanner camera when unlocking?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if it were possible to hide seeing my face when using the iris scanner, I think it would look more neat.
I know you can activate the iris scanner as soon as you wake up the phone but I set the home button to automatically unlock (since I use smart lock and that makes it very convenient) so when I press the home button it'll instantly go to the unlock screen where the front cam is activated.
OK I guess I could use the power button instead but I was wondering if there's a way with the home button. Thanks!
Mine is intermittent as to when it does show the camera view. Most of the time it will just come up with a line of text saying look here for iris scanning and I'm never quite sure where I'm supposed to actually be looking.

You should be watching towards the top of the screen near the grid, you should do this even before turning the screen on and it's faster and more accurate
If you look at the red light left hand corner it's unlocks instantly
Yeah its not too bad, i wear glasses so is a bit of a pain sometimes it works through them most of time it doesn't. I might try and get used to doing that "guess where the fingerprint scanner is without putting your finger all over the camera lense" manoeuvre.
I meant why does it *sometimes* come up with the camera viewfinder - does yours *always* come up with the camera viewfinder?
It shows the camera when the unlock isn't instant, or this is what I noticed, just wanted to hide that for a sleeker look

Not an answer but an option. You can go into Settings>Lock screen and security>Iris Scanner>Preview screen mask
There's some goofy masks but maybe there is one that might preset a "sleeker" look for you.

Yep I know about that, that makes everything even worse imo Ahah the main problem to the "sleeker look" is that the camera is super low res, I don't know just feel it's useless but u guess there's no way to get rid of it
I got exactly same question !
That things is pure ugly in term of design and aesthetic, LoL
Hopefully someone can found a way to permanently hide that visual
To unlock your S8 or S8+ with your iris without seeing the camera preview go to:
Settings => Lock screen and security => Iris Scanner
... and turn on the very last option called "Iris unlock when screen turns on".

Thank you,
But we already know and use that option indeed.
But sometimes, we want to jnlock the phone on the table, when its not facing our face, thus we slide up the lock screen,
And then, bam, those ugly visual appear above the PIN number pad. LoL
Sure it has nothing wrong with the function. We just simply hate how it "broke" our beautiful lockscreen layout

You can trigger the iris scanner again by clicking the text on the top center instead of swiping, this will not show the guidance visual.
I found the best way to mitigate this is to do two things.
1. Enable the toggle for "iris unlock when screen turns on" under lockscreen>iris scanner
2. Disable the toggle for "Unlock with home button" under setting>display>navigation bar
It's still not perfect but I'm at 90% success rate and it's far faster than fingerprint debacle. I figure when you press the home screen without option 2, phone triggers instant to unlock. With it unchecked it pauses so you can look at notifications.
Should default this way imo.
By golly you are right!

I know this is an old thread but I just would like to thank you for this tip! I always look at the line of text to unlock my phone and it sometimes doesn't do the trick. But looking at the red dot hasn't failed me yet!!! And it's almost instantaneous! Thanks for this tip.

İnstagram Stories

I got some weird issues like I can't see the full picture on stories. Most of them unreadable becoz of my phone showing them out of frame.

Yep. It's because of an "odd" aspect ratio. It's been going on since at least when the S8 came out. I really don't expect a fix any time soon. They don't even care enough to make an iPad version of the app.
It will just get to the point that people edit stuff in their stories because everyone will have this problem.

Not since two days ago.
This happens with multiple phones.
The fix to this until Instagram goes ahead and supports different aspect ratios other than just 16:9 would be using this application : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sagar.screenshift2
Set Instagram to use the resolution as '1080 × 1920' in Per-App Profiles. Whenever you open Instagram, you'll see black borders on the top and bottom of the screen. But the stories won't be zoomed now - and you can ever post your photos/videos as stories in perfect size because the ratio has changed to 16:9 as per the resolution. :good:
Note : You must use gestures and not a navigation bar with this resolution. Navigation bar would need some different resolution, '1080 × {something that considers the navigation bar too}. Do not set '1080 × 1920' as default resolution (of course you wouldn't but if you did, you'll be in trouble!).
Also note : Sometimes, it doesn't work. Even if you come out of Instagram, it doesn't revert back to the previous resolution. Now that you're stuck in the application and due to no navigation bar and inaccessible gestures (because we need swipe from the bottom of the screen which is unusable in this new resolution), the only way to get out is swipe from the top to get the status bar, swipe down and again and go to settings from quick access. This should immediately change the resolution. If it doesn't, go ahead and turn on the navigation bar in settings. Press home on the navigation bar and you'll be back to the original resolution.
And : If your phone is locked and you get an Instagram message, your resolution will again change to '1080 × 1920'.
For OnePlus 6 Users : You could unlock it with your Fingerprint or Face Unlock but I guess if you got a PIN Lock, you won't be able to press '0' as it goes under the unusable area. Haven't tested it 'cause I have a 6T.
For OnePlus 6T Users : If Face Unlock isn't set up, forget about unlocking using your fingerprint. Your fingerprint scanner would be in the unusable bottom area of the screen. Now if you got a PIN (unsure about other locks) and you have '0' in it, you won't be able to unlock using the PIN too, 'cause again, '0' is not touchable. In such a situation, tap 'EMERGENCY' on the screen. This will definitely change the resolution to default and your whole screen would be usable. Go back and you have your fingerprint scanner and the '0' key too.
I've got the heck of it, I post and watch Instagram Stories without problems now!
