Someone allready found a way for the ext_rom password?

Did someone allready find a way to edit te extended rom (ms_.nbf) ?
I'm stuck in searching for days in this and other forums.. :shock:
I want to add some cabs to it, but didn't find a way yet...
i hope someone else is much smarter then me and found a way.. !

This perl script decodes the nbf files of the "recent" variety: Due to the way the files are "encrypted", if you know the first dword of a given files (which happens to be the same since the first version), you can easily decode the rest. The numbers in the comment, are the first words of each type of file...

the ms_.nba (decoded from the ms_.nbf) is a simply a FAT16 disk image. under MacOS X you can rename it as ms_.dmg and it will mount double clicking it (even in read-write mode). Under linux you can mount it with mount -o loop, under windows you can use WinImage...
What you CAN'T do is encode it back to feed it to the update program. But you can insert it in a SD dump and install it with the bootloader...

Ok, not such a big problem to put it into a dumped rom..
Pity there isn't a easier way found yet, but this probarly should do the job
if i only had more knowledge of perl then a supernovice :wink:

-Download this package: http://www.rapidshare.com/files/387342034/eken_tools.zip
-Then use the official updated ROM (script folder)
-Open android_fs.tgz with 7zip and add the "su" command in system/bin without uncompressing it.
-Change update.sh with the one in the package
-Put the script folder on SD card and update your firmware a usual
-Install superuser.apk
-Install connectbot.apk
-Put your device in debug mode (Settings/Appplications/Developement/USB debugging)
-Start ConnectBot and open a local session
-Type su and wait few seconds
-A window will popup informing you that su want root:root. Click alway allow...
-And voila you have root

I got mine off of ebay from a seller called colorsky888 . I got 2 off of him for 60$ but his price has gone up a little to 49$. Still a great deal. I can't wait to get mine with all the action going on for this little tablet. I have a feeling that I will soon out grow then with there limitations. I'm looking to get one of the newer ones that are a little more expensive but you get more out of them. I would like to have a M-T 10+ screen and blue touth aswell as better battery life.. Still .. I realy can't wait to get the 2 Eken tablets.

I had free shipping with mine from the same seller. Guess he was not making a profit or they are now selling to well that he upped the price. Contact him about the shipping cost. Often they will bring it down or even ship if for free if you ask .. I have to wait 14 days to get mine. The 65$ shipping is for 3 day shipping service. I like to have stuff fast but that's overkill and over priced.

is this like flashing new ROM, cause im a newby with android,
from your explanation please advice step by step for upgrading :

just download and unzip to SD and upgrade by itself or what, can u help me.
i dont understand.
basically i want use slatedroid 1.2,
but i dont know how to use it.

there are download links there.
If you read other topics on this you'll see the rooting thread which talks about the script dir as well.
Also make sure when you format the SD card is is FAT32 filesystem. That would stop the SD card from reading it.

anyone got a video of one of these running 1.6?

somewhat new to android, very new to tablets. but i am wondering if it would be able to create a recovery partition on the device to make it a little easier to flash roms in the future. i use one on my eris, just thinking it would be nice to have something similar on the tablet.

Hmm, replacing the "su" command with 7zip doesn't work. In the .tgz file theres a .tar file which cannot be edited with 7zip. I even can't add new files to it...
Update: I found out I had an old version of 7zip installed Works now!

Anybody got any updates on a custom rom for the Eken tablet? I'm not seeing a lot new on this since May this year. Would love an updated 2.0 or 2.1 rom with root and Market access for the m001. Thanks!

I just delete "file_context" and ".dat" files that come in the Zip file of the original firmware.
I left only
- Firmware-update
- Meta-inf
- boot.img
Open the Zip file and enter to:
UL-ASUS_Z012D-WW-13.20.10.79-user \ META-INF \ com \ google \ android
OPEN the updater-script file with Notepad ++
and delete the first 3 lines
ifelse (GetProp ("ro.product.name") == "OPEN_Phone" ui_print ("OPEN SKU device"), (
GetProp ("ro.product.name") == "CN_Phone" || abort ("This package is for " CN_Phone \ "devices, this is a " "+ GetProp (" ro.product.name ") +" \ ".");
));
and save the change.
then place the Zip file in the SD memory, and flash phone for the recovery mode.
Select Install - find the firmware in you SDcard and procced to install it...
when you complete the process without error, WIPE cache and restart the device.
It may last some 10 minutes
or you can see this other option:

Hey! Thanks man. After i deleted this three Lines im able to flash an OS again. :good:
After i tried the "Official Bootlock unlock..." thing, my finger are too fast so i deleted by mistake the OS!

The root of my zen3 went wrong, please help me. After doing the root procedures was looped I tried to reinstall the firmware but it locks almost at the end. I am without system now: (... I tried to install through ABD sideload but it appears:

Hey, is your phone able to into ADB mode? if you haven't completely wiped your phone you can do a restore and get back the factory image that is on the phone but if you completely erased all data then you will need to apply the new OS via ADB

Ive tried going into ADB mode, didnt work, and I've already did a full wipe of the phone You know where to get a new OS? the one in the link I cant dowload, its always corrupt for me

when the first screen shows up and you press the volume key, don't do anything after that. after the 2 vm verity screen loads, you should be taken into recovery menu

I was reported that there's some firmware unmounting errors with some devices like mido.
Code:
unmount of /firmware failed; no such volume
mount: failed to mount /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/sec at /firmware: Invalid argument
It was because of inaccurate grepping of lines with "firmware" in it.
Also, there's a missing line which caused temporary updater-script to be added in firmware zip.
These issues are fixed now. You can get the new update from here:

thanks for your fast support but when i try to install firmware-less.zip I get an error 6 from twrp.

Can you give some details?
What's the device? Which ROM did you use?
Also attach twrp log after flashing.

Xiaomi redmi Note 5 Pro (whyred)
TWRP 3.2.1.3 or TWRP 3.2.3.2

Can you try with official twrp or any other recovery?

A little unralated question.
Do you know if the firmware update folder inside Xiaomi EU roms is the firmware of the day or is a custom made by them?
Example: 9.1.10 Xiaomi EU Rom, inside the firmware update folder is from 9.1.10 China rom?
Or should i flash the firmware myself?
I couldn't get this awnser from them.

Yes, it's the same official firmware of that day.
You don't have to flash firmware as long as you use miui, whatever it was.

After doing some investigations, seems it's the windows who is making issues

V1.1.1 released
Changes:
- Fix files created on windows can't be flashed bug. It was because of the newlines endings on windows.
Windows users please update to latest versions of python script or the executable
