Disable Software Update notification - Samsung Galaxy M30s Questions & Answers

This is probably a stupid question:I'm currently running android 9 rooted and I get a software update notification for One of Corey's UI 2, and seem to to not be able to hide that notification, the solutions I have found myself seem to all be either for older Android versions or normal app notifications. I thought I could disable out in the theme dev options but couldn't find a way.

have you tried disabling this in dev options?

Thank you for the quick response!
but yes I had that disabled even before the notification showed up.

i had the same problem. any solution???

[Q] [Lollipop] Heads Up Notifications Disabled for all apps. How to enable it?

Hi,
We all know what Heads Up Notifications are. For those who doesn't, its a notification banner for high priority apps in Android 5.0.
I just observed this while I was enjoying Lollipop on my Nexus 4. I wanted Heads Up style notification for IM apps, since Google removed notification ticker in the latest android build. So I downloaded Heads Up by Artem Chepurnoy (Sorry could not link you in coz I'm a new member). After I installed and setup it, I tried 'Send test notification' and idk how the actual Lollipop Heads Up showed up. [See attachment] You can see in the screenshot the actual Lollipop Heads Up banner is at the top and the Heads Up by Artem Chepurnoy banner is below it. I am not sure how did this happen, but this means the Heads Up exists for other apps also and it needs to be enabled. I have read that, this feature relies on the priority of the application notifications, but still no luck in enabling Heads Up for other apps. If any dev can help?
Thanks.
Go to settings -> sounds&notification -> app notifications and check if you had your IM app blocked.
To be honest this is the most annoying feature in lollipop. You cant disable the built in heads up. You can only shut off the notification completely. That means if you use third party heads up apps it will give the issues you've encountered already.
With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!
Give it a try:

A couple questions about Lollipop, including SMS...

So I recently installed rooted Lollipop 5.0 BOC4 on my Verizon S5 and I previously had several mods installed but I can't remember them all (definitely had Xposed, Wanam, and a couple one-off zips like tether, one that customized the quick settings/toggles) and I'm still getting my phone setup the way I want it to work. But there are a few things I still haven't been able to find/accomplish yet on this version of Android and I was hoping the forum would be able to help me out.
Even if the answer is "you can't do that yet" or "need to wait for Xposed", please let me know so I can stop wasting my time looking for workarounds/fixes/mods. So here's what I want to be able to do:
Quickly disable/enable the lock screen without having to go into the Settings > Lock Screen. I'd prefer a quick toggle.
Disable pop-up/heads up style notifications (and revert to the old 4.4 style notifications). Specifically for texts. What apps besides Textra allow for these to be disabled?
Have the volume buttons control the sounds/volume only and not the interruptions (similar to CM 12.1 for those that are familiar).
Flashlight mod.
Any other interesting mods that are working on rooted BOC4 that you think may be of interest.
And probably the most important...
Is there any SMS app out currently that allows you to both 1) Disable the heads up style pop-up notifications on Lollipop and ALSO 2) reply/mark read/delete from the notification.
Regarding the last bullet, I've found a few SMS apps that do one or the other but not both. For example, ChompSMS and Textra allow you to disable the heads up style pop-up notification and just gives the small icon in the nav bar, but you can't reply from the notification. And Evolve SMS and QKSMS allows you to reply from notification bar, but not disable the heads up notification.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

System UI Tuner in Nougat

Is it possible in any way to enable the System UI Tuner in Nougat build, or has Samsung removed this feature? I'm particularly looking for notification power controls as there seems to be no way to disable heads up without also making them silent.
Waiting to know the solution as well
Im annoyed by the WhatsApp heads up notification
Super annoying for sure! Hating 7.0 on AT&T because of this. Still no fix!
There's a new official API in Nougat for this
Check this https://www.xda-developers.com/get-custom-quick-settings-tiles/
Called? I don't see anything that disables peek and doesn't require root.

The "Nougat way" of editing quick settings buttons (actually replacing system UI tuner, which has been phased out) tiles doesn't' require root at all.
To use it under S7 nougat, fully expand quick settings area then, open the three dot menu and press "edit".
There are some 3rd party apps which allows to add custom tiles ("Custom Quick Settings" being one of them), some others apps already support this feature for their own usage.
I confess I don't know what "notification power control" is: I was only replying to the thread subject ("System UI Tuner in Nougat").
But maybe if you give a more detailed explanation of what you're trying to to ("disable peek"), I could help on it too.
"Called" means what is this app called that enables Ui Timer settings, therefore the ability to disable message peek.
Message peak is when you are trying to do something on your phone, but you cannot see your screen because every message that arrives is instantly in your face with the full length of the message for everyone to see. I want notifications to ding and vibrate, but only show an icon on the status bar. Not show my messages to the whole world, nor me when i don't want to see them. The only option in notifications with the Samsung version of 7.0 is everything off, or messages in your face with vibrate and ding. Horrible decision by Samsung.
System UI Tuner has the ability to set notification levels including disabling message previews however Samsung pulled it out in 7.0. The solution is this command and you don't have to be rooted:
adb shell settings put global heads_up_notifications_enabled 0

Works perfectly!
I, I get it: I didn't have all the extra options in system UI tuner in my previous device running Marshmallow (only the "tiles" stuff", this wasn't a Samsung device) thus my mistake on the exact scope of your question.
Dear madfusker,
Did you find a solution to the problem? I just updated my S7 Edge to Nougat 7,0 and now I experience the exact same problem as you. Very annoying.

I don't know how to enable the System UI Tuner, but you can disable "peeking". In Application Info inside Settings > Apps, just below Permissions you will find what you are looking for in 'Apps that can appear on top' under 'Advanced'. It's there for most apps.

I have night mode on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 tablet running 7.0
You might want to consider a third party app. I know it's not the elegant way but there is an app that offers you a full System UI Tuner.
https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.zacharee1.systemuituner
Read carefully etc - you still use a Samsung phone But I use this app on my Galaxy A5 running Stock Nougat TouchWiz and most stuff works.
Hope I could help achieving some good results.
Edit: Use this link from your phone with the xda labs app installed. I don't know whether the link works otherwise!

I've got Galaxy S8 Sm-G950U Nougat 7.0 on Boost Mobile and can't get the SystemUI Tuner to enable by holding down setting gear in notification blind. Did Samsung remove the feature?
My wife has Moto E4 Nougat 7.1.1 on Boost and I enabled it just fine on her phone. I don't see the Night Mode option in her SystemUI Tuner though.
Edit: nvm. They apparently did. For anyone else who wants the features of the SystemUI Tuner and can't enable it,

When you say "heads up notification", are you referring to peeking where there's a short pop up message over the status bar? For example, every time I get a message on Facebook Messenger, there's peeking. If so, that frustrated me as well and I loved it when I could turn if off with Nougat's Power Notifications controls.
I finally found a way to disable peeking; I had to turn off sound by going to Facebook Messenger's App Info - App Notification - disable [Allow Sound]. I already use Lightflow to customize sounds/vibrations from my Nougat days. Once I disabled [Allow Sound], peeking stopped but I could still hear sound/vibration through my customization in Lightflow.
Problem solved for me.
Feel disgusting to heads up notification too.
try "Gaming Do Not Disturb"
I open it all the time to ban heads up notification
Here is how to set notification on oreo. go to setting > app And notification > then select your app for which you want to turn off or reduce importance of notification. If you select preference urgent / high / medium and low. then low means no sound no visual notification and urgent mean sound and popup.
Apps like telegram: it doesn't work properly, I have to do this for each conversation and group and that's annoying. any other tips? and the thing is it does revert back to urgent after few notifications

Turn off peak notifications with One UI 2.1?

I updated my S10+ (SD) to the latest One UI 2.1. Previously I had turned off the peak notifications via ADB -- with One UI 2.1 it seems Samsung has changed how and where Peak is enabled/disabled and the ADB setting was lost. I tried running the ADB command again and although it was accepted, apps are still showing heads-up notifications instead of just sticking their notification icon in the status bar (which is the way I prefer it).
Going separately into each app's Notification settings doesn't seem to show the options anymore for "sound only" etc anymore...
Any ideas?
It looks like this is now available in the app and the adb hack isn't needed any longer. It would still be nice to apply a global default with this hack rather than changing each app individually. It's there, under "Message notifications" and is called "Show as Pop-up".

Thanks but it doesn't work for me.
In my case, I would like to disable these annoying notifications in Instagram and more apps, but Instagram doesn't appear in the section "show as pop up". It's weird because most apps are there, but not Instagram.
How can I disable heads up notifications?
