10.0.35 update - OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Questions & Answers

I cannot find the download link from oneplus so I can get the system and boot images to update my rooted phone. I hate Oneplus....they do not list these links anyplace. Can someone please post. Thank you.

I think this update brings the 5G band n41 to our device if the new band specs on T-Mobile's listing for our phone is anything to go by.

N41 has been enabled on this phone since .31. This update might bring the N66/N2 which we had pass through the FCC a few months ago.

Has anyone got it yet ? Mine still not pulling it up

Mines haven't either

I added the reserve.img back as directed but mine is not pulling it up either. This is why I hate oneplus. With a pixel, you got the link, downloaded it, and flashed it. They are never posting anything on their website. Matter of fact, our model does not even show up on the support page.

Your device (T-Mo variant) lacks local update feature in Settings->System->System Updates like 6T, 7 Pro and 7T, 8 T-Mobile and 8 Verizon editions, hence why it isn't listed on support website since you can't officially flash builds by yourself.

Ummmm I have a rooted device and can flash it manually as I have done on many other oneplus phones. The OOS files are just not published with links sadly.
These links are listed for the non 5G phone : https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro/how-to/oneplus-7t-pro-repo-oxygen-os-builds-t4003455
Sadly we do not have a dev that lists them for our phone. I am trying to get more info.

No you can't? There is no such local update screen with devices bought from T-Mobile.

Full zips are just not provided by OnePlus even by OTA for carrier devices (exception being Android major updates eg when Android 11 will be released), only incremental ones are provided. More info at https://www.xda-developers.com/dont...s-7t-pro-mclaren-bootloader-oxygenos-updates/
As a sidenote I'm the OP of the thread you just linked.

I have a rooted phone and want to get this update file. It is not that complex. If I was on any other oneplus phone that was not specialized for 5G, I could get the info needed. I dont know why you think this is hard to do? I gave you a few examples from the other forum

Even if you had the OTA URL and file captured, you can't flash it. It'll brick your phone unless it goes through the update menu. They are incremental updates that check file integrity. They are not full updates. You cannot flash updates on this phone. Period.
If you have an MSM, that's different. But we don't have that either. Right now, all we can do is wait.

I am rooted

I can apply it via fastboot. And I have done so many times. For the 7 pro for example. This whole wrinkle with 5G and reserve.img really sucks. I am sorry but this is very frustrating. I want simply to be rooted for many reasons and without even flashing custom ROM....and now it looks like being rooted is causing more harm than good. I guess I get nothing from being rooted. I am contemplating just using MSM to go backwards and unroot.

From the very own article written by XDA Portal I linked to:
So what’s the problem here? The T-Mobile OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition, unlike most other OnePlus devices, does not have full firmware ZIPs available from OnePlus’s website. So with an unlocked bootloader barring you from taking incremental updates and no full ZIPs to take, you will be stuck on whatever OxygenOS build your phone is running if you decide to pull ahead and unlock your bootloader. The regular OnePlus 7T Pro does have full ZIPs available for downloading, but you can’t take those on this device since it’s carrier-branded and it’s T-Mobile – not OnePlus – who is responsible for the device’s OxygenOS firmware.

There is MSM that works for most oneplus phones. And the Hydrogen image for .34 so I might just do that and unroot.

LL Starks is right. MSM has been locked into specific devices starting with this device and going forward. With the 7 Pro, it was different because MSM was still universal for it. It won't work if you try using a Hydrogen MSM tool for a T-Mobile 5G variant. I know it's easy to get frustrated, but you're gonna brick your phone if you don't listen to reason or people who know what they're talking about. Not trying to sound harsh, but that's the simple truth.

You're confusing several different topics.
No, you cannot manually install OTAs on OnePlus devices from TMO. It worked on the 6T at first, but then the Local Update option was removed in an update. You might be able to sideload through a modified stock recovery, if someone with root can grab the OTA after it downloads, but before it installs, since it will be deleted after.
Yes, there is a HydrogenOS MSM image. No, you cannot flash it on the HD1925 (hotdogg) TMO variant.
Yes, there are several MSM images for our TMO variant. Running any of them will lock your bootloader and restore to stock. When you unlock again after, you will once again be missing the reserve.img needed to accept OTAs.
There are downloadable zips that replace the missing reserve.img needed to accept an OTA. I didn't create the first couple, but I did make ones for .27 -> .31 and .31 -> .34.
Regardless of what build you are on now, a missing reserve.img will not prevent you from seeing an update. Your phone will download it even if you are rooted. However, it will fail to install once it gets to the part where it updates reserve.img.

Ok so what do you recommend?

Do I restore the reserve.img with the script and tools in that other thread? I did that actually. You are saying I should be able to get the update, and it will unroot me afterwards? I could use magisk to say install to inactive slot after OTA before rebooting though right? I still am not getting the update OTA...I clicked check a bunch of times. Maybe I am not in the queue for this round.

If you already restored your reserve.img, then the OTA should install once your phone gets it. Some people have been able to update without unrooting, but I do it to be safe. I go into Magisk and choose to restore boot images, but not uninstall. This allows any downloaded modules to remain and not have to be configured again when you root after update.
Once you restore boot images and reboot, the OTA should install and then reboot again. I then repeat the original root steps by pulling an updated boot.img through TWRP, and am back up and running in less than 15 minutes.

Axon 7 Software Update - MR2

According to a Mod on Z-Community there should be an update being pushed out shortly. If anyone gets the update can provide the change log that would be appreciated. And if you do the update please let us know if the UI has changed. Still waiting on my axon 7, hopefully it ships tomorrow.
We need someone to capture this update before it's installed.
Always thank those who are helpful...and just ignore those who aren't.

It should be possible to patch most everything -- however, if any of the partition hashes don't match, those partitions couldn't be patched. That would make minemeat out of the partition if you forced it, since they are updating blocks, and not direct files.

No, the bootloader unlocking process changes more than just the recovery. It changes boot, system, and fastboot as well. So even if you reflash a stock recovery, if the OTA tries to patch any of those other partitions, it'll fail. This is why people have been clamouring ZTE to post full system images, so people who unlocked their BL can roll back to full stock in order to get OTAs.
Plus, we don't know if ZTE will use the IMEIs of people who officially submitted a bootloader unlock as exceptions to the OTA rollout.

They have to be using a list like that. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to roll out the bootloader unlock OTA to the right phones.
Which of course, is still silly -- they should have used the method others use where it's just baked into the OS and you have to request the appropriate code to provide during unlock. Then everyone would be on the same software load.

I guess by soon they didn't mean within a few days...Usually when companies say soon it's within 24 hrs.

Due to a few last minute software optimizations, the update will be pushed until mid to late next week.

I'm still on stock. How would I go about capturing the OTA when it's released next week?
Also, it looks like the bootloader unlock request form on the ZTE site is no longer available, but instead says: "The form AXON 7/Pro Bootloader Unlock Request is no longer accepting responses. Try contacting the owner of the form if you think this is a mistake."
That could mean something significant (free bootloader unlocks for everyone with no voiding of warranty!) or it could mean that they borked something on the backend (I think it was a Google form, so any number of things could have changed that caused the form to disappear).

If you are running and adb logcat on your computer (or your phone) when you check for and/or download the OTA, the full link for the OTA should be in there somewhere. Or, to just save the file, after you download it but before you apply it, you can copy it off of the internal sd card partition. Getting the download location is better though, then people can download it directly for themselves.

This is Coming from a ZTE-Employee which many of us know him from ZTE-Community
sshasan Employee 13 minutes ago
ZTE has not changed their opinion on unlocking the bootloader. The bootloader will still be unlockable.
I have temporarily stopped the form from accepting new requests for good reason.
1.) The process for unlocking the bootloader will be changing if all goes well with testing. (This includes stock image)
2.) There is a software update coming next week - Since stock images have not yet been released, instead of adding more customers to the mix of those who will not be able to update, I've decided to not let this happen.

So that means that anyone who signs up isn't gonna be able to tell us if MiFavor is gone or not with Nougat? That's all I want to hear.
I also want to know if the t-mobile wifi calling and other memory/power management optimization situation has improved. Hopefully the NDA allows that (likely not, lol)
Who knows what the NDA will and will not allow - all you are doing right now is signing up to be a part of the experiment. Not everyone who signs up will be accepted (I hope I am accepted)

I applied but probably won't get update. I am already rooted with unlocked bootloader.

After you apply, they will pick who they accept. After you get accepted, then you get the NDA to sign or not sign. If you choose to sign it, then your IMEI gets added to the list and they push out all the extra updates. You can basically refuse at any point up to when you get updates (since apparently you can't go back to Mashmallow).

Apparently the previous OTAs haven't checked for unlocked bootloader, so unless they changed that for this OTA, you should be able to get it.

However I have a question. I own A2017U model but if i reside outside of U.S. does it disqualify me to participate?

Chinese variant vs International Variant

Hey guys, I currently live in China and I have access to both the Chinese version of the One plus 5 and the International version of the phone. Since the Chinese version is a tad bit cheaper than the international version, I am considering the Chinese version. However, I don't know whether I will be able to have google assisstant or install google services manually at all if I purchase the Chinese version. This happened to my Chinese S7. Does anyone know if the Chinese variant is the same as the International variant?
Thanks

Thanks, just one more question. Does google assistant work? Thanks
How do you tell the difference between these 2 models?
There is absolutely no hardware difference between the models. The Chinese model comes with HydrogenOS instead OxygenOS but you can easily change between both since they are both official updates from OnePlus.
OxygenOS is meant for the international market and hence has all the Google stuff pre-installed. No messing around necessary.
To the OP, download the latest OxygenOS from here. Place it in the root of your internal memory. Basically don't put the file in any folder.
Go to Settings > System updates, press the gear icon and select Local upgrade. Choose the file, the phone will boot into recovery and everything is done.
Source: I bought mine in China and am currently running OxygenOS with root.

No. Just do exactly what he said. Download the file, put on phones memory (not in any folder). Go to settings, update, and choose the file. Done.
In fact, your memory is probably still intact after that. It's encourage you then do a factory reset.

Yes he's right, the only phones that require the carrier to push the ota's are devices that are carrier locked which happens a lot in the US, idk about China but here in The Netherlands pretty much every phone is unlocked no matter how you buy it with a few exceptions. OnePlus phones are always unlocked and the only official carrier that sells it is O2 in the UK which I believe is still the same model, either way you'll still recieve the ota's.

Thanks for a thought out response instead of being an ass like he was. I hadn't looked at the coding for the OTA app to see it's download source, I just deleted it so I wouldn't lose root accidentally.

I always use the OTA app to update my phone, it always takes a bit of time for the full zip update to appear on OnePlus or XDA. The OTA app detects root and when it does it will tell you it's gonna download the full zip in the .OTA folder. Then so just flash it via twrp alongside magisk and some other mods.
if it's possible to instale oxygenOS and there is no hardware difference between the two versions then it's ok

Oreo System Dumps - OPR1.170623.026.G955USQU1ZQJJ 11-3-2017

Pretty much exactly the same across all the models with minor differences. I'll try to upload new dumps when new builds hit.
DOWNLOAD:
From T-Mobile GS8+ Build OPR1.170623.026.G955USQU1ZQJJ
How are you dumping it, and what's keeping you from dumping the update file?
Can anyone with this update dial *#2263# and post a screenshot. It should list the supported bands, I'd like to know if they enabled Band 46.
Thanks.

Once I read up on what Band 46 is, I decided to do a speed test. Apparently, LAA is in full effect in Memphis  :victory:

I got double the speeds I normally get. Need to test some more though.
If we flash this do we get the OTAs whenever they release an update?

If you're not in the Beta program itself, I'd say there's 98% chance no as the update is tied to your Samsung account. The OP states that he'll upload any future Beta updates, though. Of course, you'll always be able to flash the official Oreo build once it's released (probably without wiping data.)

Hmm. I'm currently in the Unlocked Model beta. If i flash back to TMobile do you think it would count me in the beta still? Since its tied to the account?

Probably, since the account and Beta are tied to your IMEI. If not, you can flash back to unlocked and upgrade again. You won't lose your Beta status unless you leave the program.

Assuming this is applied through recovery with ADB sideload right? Or?
I tried flashing it in recovery using "update via SD card" and pointed to the zip file and I got an error with wrong footer.

I'm wndering what would be a proper way of flashing the modem for us that are rooted without losing root? I'm still on the August build.
Thanks.

This is simply a system dump and doesn't contain the bootloader and modem. We'd need the full OTA for those and we can't get them without root. As you've probably noticed, even the gurus at Sammobile haven't posted it yet because it'd be EXTREMELY difficult to catch the OTA even over your own network. I was able to post my Band 46 screenshot because I'm actually in the Beta program.

Wait, is Band 46 enabled on this 7.x.x update, or only on Beta 8.0?

Only beta 8. Running latest 7.x update with Oct security patch and 46 is not enabled.
Apart from wifi-calling and the usual Tmo stuff, is what's the difference between this and the U1 Oreo firmware?

Beat me to it. Folks, this is just a system dump. Unfortunately, without root, I cannot access the Cache partition, which is where the OTA zip file is stored.
I'm posting system dumps to encourage anyone and everyone to dig through. Hopefully we can find an exploit or some tidbit. I never bothered with the sampawn. While I am very grateful for the time, effort, and energy that went into that root, it's not a true root. When Oreo drops we're back to ground zero.
WHAT'S DIFFERENT:
- Polish: That's partly Google. Partly Samsung. Battery battery life. Things open faster. Etc. And I dirty flashed too.
- Battery Life: Took my phone off charger 16 hours ago and I have 40% left. Screen time 3hr. I heavily rely on my phone every day. Team communication apps, research, navigation, etc. No games. Could be different.
- PiP: Awesome. I had Navigation open earlier today and switched to Music to change songs, a little floating window with my navigation opened. PiP works with Google Maps!
- Band 46: Hasn't been fully initialized in my area, but signals are definitely much more stable.
- WiFi: More stable. I can reach 5G band at further distances. Likely just cleaned up code that's making these work better.
- Small UI changes, such as people edge is more glassy.
Oreo is well worth the patience. I'm only encountering small bugs here and there. It's very stable. So I'd say, maybe Xmas we'll have Oreo. Could be wishful thinking, but I'm hella impressed. This **** is smooth. Only thing I hate is the stupid emojis are the same as before.

I would upload it Like I normally do, but know one was able to figurere it out last year for the Galaxsy s7 edge.
@tengtengvn and I tried to figure it out. You can see the forum here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/direct-link-nougat-update-t3510467
I have been looking into the the S8+ Ota and noticed
Code:
patch/system/bin/tinycap.p.,.ÓõSBDIFF10×.
SBDIFF. If we can figured out how they SBDIFF the OTA against the 7.0/NRD90M/G955USQU1AQHD firmware. we may be able to flash it.
I also noticed the OTA .bin file has to zip files concatenated together. the first zip only has one file in it called metadata and it is just text.
Code:
ota-type=FILE
post-build=samsung/dream2qltesq/dream2qltesq:8.0.0/OPR1.170623.026/G955USQU1ZQJJ:user/release-keys
post-timestamp=1509361774
pre-build=samsung/dream2qltesq/dream2qltesq:7.0/NRD90M/G955USQU1AQHD:user/release-keys
pre-device=dream2qltesq
If some people show interest I may upload it.

T-Mobile on Open Beta not receiving Android 10 OTA

I have tried to manually flash the Android 10 Beta to my OnePlus 6T using Local Upgrade but after the phone reboots, I get a "Build Version does not match Hardware version" error and I have to reset my device using MSMDownloadTool. I've always received the Open Beta updates OTA but this new one I am not. Just food for thought: do you think OnePlus is purposely not sending the update OTA to T-Mobile Variants running the International ROM? I've attempted on both the bootloader unlocked method, and the method without needing to unlock the bootloader.

Yes, T-Mobile is excluded from this beta until now. We found a way to flash the ROM but it has some issues that need to be fixed.

For what it's worth, Android 10 Beta showed up via OTA on my TMobile 6T running international ROM. Was excited and installed it...same result as for you...won't boot and shows the same message.
OTA's have never worked, just fyi.

I have had no problem with OTA's on my tmobile 6t running the international beta. I have taken 6-8 of them with no issues.
I've gone from each beta to 17 since i switched to international with no issues. Android 10 does partitions different amongst other things and that's why it doesn't work via OTA.

They've always worked for me, you must've not read the original post. And I just received the Android 10 OTA but I'm not gonna install it bc apparently it'll still brick the phone.

Same here. All Android 9 OTA updates worked fine for me. That's why I didn't really think twice to hit INSTALL when the Android 10 OTA showed up. I was on the BETA channel, btw, which I am sure you are too.
The notification is driving me crazy.
You can not install Android 10 open beta on a T-Mobile variant OnePlus6T. It will not boot. You will HW/SW mismatch. Even if you've converted it to International
There is no OTA for Android 10, you have to download it from the Oxygen Updater app and then Local Upgrade.
But as I mentioned earlier, IF you have a T-Mobile converted 6T it WILL NOT WORK. you will brick.

You can by using the fastboot OB1 mentioned here in these forums, but it's still far from stable. Best to wait for the stable Android 10 from OnePlus. It may be another month though before we see it.

No OTA? Oh ok..
Don't install the OTA of you're TMobile, as everyone has said, it will soft brick your device
Fortunately I have the Oneplus 6T International Purple variant. I wanted to be able to use 2 SIMS just in case I need a phone for work I'll just install a second SIM.
