NoLimits vs EXos - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Just wondering how NoLimits and EXos Majistk Roms differ? Pros and cons for either?
From what I can see they both are very similar?

These types of threads are considered taboo, I'm surprised it hasn't been closed.
Answer is simple, there is no answer, it's subjective to ever single person.
It's like saying What's better, red or blue.
All Devs who have taken the time to build something and share it with the community deserve our respect which is why threads like this aren't a good thing.
Hope this answers your question

Perfectly said. Each rom is different and subjective, and this thread is very disrespectful.
Each have their own unique value, and are bred with the lifeblood of the devs. You can't put a value on that.
Realistically, find what you're looking for, what works, and try it. Maybe try the other too. All varies.

Appreciate the response and understanding I may have playing this a bit close to the line. I'll give both a good test and decide which I prefer best.

Haha no worries man, weirdly though you're a senior, you should know this really. It's cool, we live an we learn.
Personally I've not tried any on this phone but I have used no limits xXx on 1+5 and I couldn't fault it.
But that was a while back mate.
My advice as with the previous poster, test them all, you'll find one you prefer, always the way mate.
Have a good one.

Yeah I was being lazy hoping for a quick, this does this and that does that resply but I'll be thoroughly testing both this week.
I'm on the OP8 not the pro version but believe they work the same on either model. Going to give clean slate a go too

I think everyone should get a picture of both and then decide which suits them best.

Yep, take them both for a spin...

Yea if they're Magisk ROMs then they almost certainly work on pretty much all devices.

Although I agree with what you are saying generally; ie; no one rom is "better' than the other, I don't think it's disrespectful to compare features.
I mean if you were looking for certain features then a comparison is useful and not disrespectful.
Having said that both ROMs state quite clearly what their features are in their respective first posts which makes this thread moot lol.

Exactly, it doesnt take much to be nice really does it...
The best release I have tried is the xdandroid 2.2
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732362
To be fair though, there hasn't been a properly stable release yet on the touch hd yet but the developers are working on it!
Thanks for the nice replies...
Just because some of us are not on the forums all the time doesn't mean we ask totally stupid questions. Just because you can search doesn't mean it finds the relevant information.
I was only looking for some help/advice...

in combination with the work by Camro.
Then you'll have a decent version with some small bugs.
That's (as far as i know) the best out there atm for our Touch HD.

That may be true, but you have to take into account that your first post was a bit of a "drive-by shooting" kind of thing.
The developers here aren't unfriendly, but years of people posting "Hey what's the best X thanks" will make most people a bit weary.
In other words, there is a lot of information here but the best way to get help is to ask with a bit of knowledge beforehand. For example:
"I have a Touch HD and want to run android. I know about HaRET and how to install an android build on my SD-card, but am unsure which build to use. I've seen build X, Y and Z and am wondering whether someone has tried any or even better all of them, and could tell me which one seems the most stable.
I'm thinking of trying X, but if Y is a lot better I'd prefer to get that on my first try."
Also, you can't find "the best most stable ROM" using search because, well, that's up to a lot of different factors.
Often, the only way to make sure is by trying a lot of them yourself and see what works best for you.
Finding what works for you takes time and effort.
If you can show that you're willing to spend both, people here will be nothing but helpful. And I'm not saying you're not willing, I'm just saying that maybe that wasn't very clear from your first post. Know what I mean?
Good luck with setting up Android on your HD.

the developers here has been a great help and made my diamond and HD awesome! You should pay attention to what Polar Bear writes in the previous post. 2.2 Xdandroid is almost reliable I'm waiting for a new release, but keep in mind the long wait for X10 users...

Rom Comparison

I am looking for a feature comparison of ROMS, kinda like when you compare TV's. Has anyone compiled such a list? I have just started using MIUI and really love some of the features in it, but I have been getting horrendous battery life. So I thought I would try a CM build. I realize that they are going to be different, but it would be nice if you could see if there are similarities between the 2 or if it would be a new learning curve again.
I looked at the WIKI page for the ROMS but that is more of a general overview than what I was looking for.
I realize I am what I am looking for is most likely a pipe dream but it can't hurt to ask and see if it exists. Oh and sorry in advance if this exists and I just missed it!
Thanks for the help and replies
This will PROBABLY go in the General section, but I could see why you posted it here
To my knowledge no such list exists beyond word of mouth. You would have to compile such a list
Basically you are going to have to read the threads of each Rom to see the differences. Someone here did create a website comparing Roms just like you are wanting. They also did the same thing with kernels. I am not sure if he is still updating the website, but the link to it is somewhere here. I believe it is in the Q&A section. If I find the link I will come back and post it here. This should have been posted in Q&A or general, but no big deal. Some people will think it's a big deal, but really it is an honest mistake.
I found this. It is a few video reviews of some of the more popular Roms here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841416
OK. Here is the link to the thread that will link you to skydeaner's website with reviews of Rom's, Kernel's and apps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790559
Well MIUI (iPhone wanna be) is completely different than anything out there. All other ROM's would be pretty similar, besides CM that doesn't use Sense and one of the best Sense ROM's out there, Warm. Just try each one and see how you like it.
OMG that explains why I dislike MUIU.

Thanks for this, this is very helpful, especially the second link, its a nice consolidation of everything, plus the star ratings help to.
As for putting this in the wrong spot, thanks for not being to tough on me, I couldn't decide since it was a ROM question but not a ROM specific question I figured it could go into multiple places.
For the preference I do like sense but I also like the non-sense roms, I wish i had the technical know how to build one that would be perfect for me, but alas I may be a geek I am not a code-writing/understanding geek. MIUI seems to have really gone a unique direction, that's why i think I am drawn to it but I did try CM last night and it has some nice features as well. And Koni's ROM is outstanding. I need to hit the lottery, then I will just buy enough EVO's to have a different ROM on each one. Damn all these good ROMS.
Thanks for the help again, i do appreciate it!!

it also depends on your device and how you have it set up on how good your battery life is. each rom run's different on each phone and so does each kernel.Because if one kernel is great for you it might be a bad one for me or someone else.Just like a rom if one is great for you it might be bad for me or someone else.
With a lot of them as far as Sense roms go, it's mainly a difference in looks. CM is asop based, I assume muiu is asop based somewhere maybe, but totally revamped UI. I like CM7 the most personally, Sense looks okay but to me it became annoying after awhile.
Why do people seem to be so sensitive in this forum? Can't someone post a comment about how they feel about something, like say a ROM or a Kernel, without 20 people jumping down his/her throat. Relax people, it's just an opinion. They aren't talking smack about your mom or your family, so chill out a bit and let people express their thoughts without getting all up in arms. Jeez...

The first post after OP already beat us to the punch, but he/she added a few smilies so it didn't seem like trolling.
Also, while the title of the thread could have been better, I will agree that posting this here really isn't that big of a deal as compared to other threads that are just blatant ignorance.
Here is why:
OP clearly stated the unsureness of where to post. OP clearly seems to have done some research. There is a sticky up top with ROM info that *can* be used as somewhat of a comparison, but it really seems to be lacking. The post really seems to have pointed out a weak spot, and there was some decent discussion about it.

There seem to be so many variables which affect comparisons between ROMS that any single summary would probably not be accurate for lots of people. For one, your EVO behaviour with any ROM, from what I have read and personally experienced, can be dramatically influenced by your hardware version.
Some EVOs don't like undervolting or overclocking as much as others so you may find a ROM/Kernel combination totally unstable while others quote it as rock solid.
I also have different experience with the same ROMS depending on whether I wipe/flash with CW or Amon recovery (Amon is much better IMHO).
I am trying to do everything at once with my phone... Primary internet connection at home, business phone (can phone and hotspot at the same time on 4G) and use navigation a lot etc...
So far I usually end up running into random rebooting with any dev. ROM and have to wipe/reflash to get better again.. Again, this may be a quirk with my phone...
Best advice is to try them all and see what works best for you... One improvement to the ROM Wiki could be to add info on what works and what doesn't for each ROM. For instance no 4G or no GPS for any ROM would be a deal breaker for me.

ROM Comparison thread request

Hey I was wondering if anyone out there was bored/interested enough in making a thread with comparisons of all the ROMs in them I just ordered mine today and I'm noticing that few of the ROMs actually have a "features included" section, so I would love for someone to make one for those of us looking to compare them while waiting for our phone or without having to try them all I know people will say "just try them all" but even just a general impressions thread would be very helpful to a lot of people

why is that???
because you can basically read what each rom is about, you can flash and try, Only you can decide if a rom is good or not.
I've tried a lot of high rated roms and i've hated it. Same goes with kernels. Don't make about thread asking which is the best. Best for what? Performance or battery life? How much will you use the phone etc.
It's really a flash and try. There is no good or bad.

we r not asking for the best, we just wanna know the differences,, thats it.....differences in features and look...thnx
I understand the whole flash and try thing, and if I could I probably would at least try a few But yeah this isn't a "which rom is best" but rather a "what makes this ROM unique"
It's just a simple request if anyone has the time/interest in doing so, I don't want to go onto the ROM pages asking people there what it's all about
I'd like one too! Back when I had my one s I'd always went straight for cyanogen just for pure android..now that it already comes with the phone I'm just wondering if I'm missing anything if I'm not rooting and installing a new rom..
Most ROM threads have a features section or a changelog section detailing what is different or modified. Also, there is a thread that compiles a link to all the available ROMs by category (whether they are CM based or AOSP based, etc).
I recommend going to that thread and then navigating to your ROM of interest to read its description. I highly doubt anyone is willingly to compiles a comparison thread for you because ROMs are constantly changing. If you look at some of the threads, they have no updates and releases every day. By the time someone posts the comparison thread, it will probably be already outdated.
In short, your best option is to read to narrow your choices, then actually try out the options you have on hand.

What ROMs would you like to see on the Moto E4 Qualcomm(Perry)?

Hey everyone! Since XDA is a community-based forum, I want to hear your input on what ROMs those with the Qualcomm Moto E4 would like to see. I'm new to developing so I cannot 100% promise a fully working ROM right out of the gate, but I'll sure as heck give it a try because you gotta start somewhere, right? DotOS v1.2 is fully working other than the LTE CDMA issue due to LineageOS being the base, crDroid is almost 100% working after I solve the camera error, and in a few days after messing around with crDroid's cam I planned on attempting another Unofficial ROM for you guys. One final thing: Oreo device trees for the Perry model don't seem to be up yet, so as of right now please recommend Nougat ROMs.
Your efforts are much appreciated. However, I would suggest you build which ever ROM interests you. We previously had a dev here that asked which ROMs to build. He uploaded a bunch. Then when the ingrates started complaining about updates, broken features, etc... he pulled everything and closed his account. Things have been really slow for perry, so your ROMs are very welcome! I would rather you stick around than get aggravated and leave as well.
I'm on Verizon so I'd love to see anything that could support that. However I don't really need a custom ROM what with the xposed framework giving me all I need, but stock Oreo would be nice once that's possible.

Well I already compiled the two I use and enjoy the most on my other phones, I wouldn't mind building one more. Maybe I'll put up a poll
AospExtended (AEX) is my goto ROM when available and needed. That said, I will probably stick with stock on my rooted/unlocked XT1768 as Xposed provides access to essential customizations without having to go the custom ROM route.

New people pop up for devices all the time. Especially when there are roms to build for them that haven't been done. Some of us are working on getting them fully working for everyone else. Just saying, it would be nice to not have all the good ones taken once that work is done. You shouldn't speak for everyone here. It is a community forum.

Sometimes I feel like the only adult here. Do what makes you happy. I do. Remember, we do this because we love it. The feeling of accomplishment when ppl use your build, and appreciate it. Some can even tolerate it when ppl just gripe because some abstract feature that only that one person uses is borked and they show no appreciation at all. Because they love it. As soon as you don't love doing it, stop. Before ya start to sound grandiose.
But what do I know. I build for myself and share privately.

Edit: I even placed my vote for a rom. Only one other user has.

+1 Another good choice!

Which kernel is the best?

I've looked at all the Kernel's but some of the them have very vague description's. Does anyone know which one is the best for battery and prefomance?
I'm not sure about best, but I'm pretty happy with the ElementalX one so far
There is no best, it's entirely up to your usage.
Try them all out.
Comparison threads usually get closed .
It's a totally subjective question.
Do you prefer Ferrari or Lamborghini?
It's apples and oranges pal, there is no right answer.
Best to just read the kernel Developer's op & thread...

While I agree it's subjective and that it will probably be closed soon. But what is wrong with asking which is the best? Or what do you use? It can be used by new users to figure out what exists and what most ppl use.
I'm asking this because some of them say "Optimized for Battery and Performance", but they don't actually list the optimization's they made.

Because it creates tribalism, same reason why they don't allow football team support in corporate events in offices.
You end up with two polar opposite groups of people and it isn't good for a happy community.
You'd end up damning one developer over another, that's not what XDA is all about.
If one kernel supports a particular feature which another doesn't then that may be good for person A but not for person B, going back to what I stated originally it is subjective, 9 times out of 10 if left unchecked by a mod, these types of threads usually spiral out of control.
My advice, flash something, if you like it then great, tell people about it in the discussion section, perhaps someone will see it was what they were looking for and will thank you for it. But to say what is best? It's an impossible question to answer which usually ends in a flaming thread which ultimately will be closed, mods are usually wise to this and close them pretty quickly.
Any kernel for custom ROMs available?
