I'm not sure which forum this discussion should be in since I'm new into the world of Android TV box.
I just bought an Android TV box based on RK3188 with 4.2, 2GB DDR3, 8GB storage etc.
Was wondering where to get info on rooting the device, what custom ROM to use and tools I need to flash the device.

I haven't seen much development for anything with an RKchip, on XDA.
There is some custom roms and discussion on rooting for some RK devices here.

I recently got a MXQ-4K TV box as a present, it was brand new and with Android Nougat (7) already installed.
Even if it has a very poor/outdated hardware (4x Arm A7 , 1GB ram) I expected something faster/smoother, for example I have a Video-projector with the same hardware but Android 4.4 and it's running very well.
So my question is for those we had their MXQ-4K on Android 6 before and they upgraded to 7, was the Android 6 firmware smoother/quicker/better than the 7 ? In such case I will try to downgrade mine.

I have a X96 X4 Amlogic S905X4 Quad Core Android 11 4GB RAM 64GB ROM Smart TV BOX 2.5G 5G Dual WIFI Bluetooth 4.1 100M Ethernet 4K HD - EU Plug Box.
Android 11 on this box is very unstable, you can not turn off the box with the remote.
Can I install the Android TV offered here on it.

dont think anything for s905x4 yet, if i end up with a device i would try a rom
I have the same device. I have a problem here.. with existing 32" Bravia TV, my box only delivers 480 SD resolution.. no matter I repeatedly changed Screen Resolution to 1080i in the box, it returns to this resolution after the restart. Anyone has any ideas? Thanks.

hi aidan, I follow your youtube channel and I'm using your rom v8 in my A95X F3, and I'm learning how to build a rom root by watching your clip. Now I'm using X96 X4, It has the same error like the topic, It cannot turn off and auto reboot when I shutdown it, please help us to resolve it. When I attach it to the stereo, it doesn't show the passthough

I have same device, x96x4pro. And same issue, cannot turn off, it always restart by itself. If that helps, when i make factory reset, power off works well for a while, one or two days, then suddenly the issue is back again. Notice i don't touch anything in settings, only add a vpn and one iptv apk.
I still try to figure out what happens, but any help is welcome.
android 11 very good! I have A95X F4 Vontar 4gb ram 64gb..I had problem with i8 minikeyboard that didn't code but remote control all right
apps work 100%
the same goes for the factory reset , I have already tested
I've seen that in some cases android 10 works better... check with the device manufacturers
not everything is ready for android 11 yet

Since a few days, theissue did not come again. what i did is a Factory reset once again, and deactivated HDMI CEC on tv. since then it's ok, the box stays off when i press off on the rc.

Does anyone here knows if this box would accept the resolution of 1920x1200?
Can anyone see settings of HDMI/CEC/HDR? I go to video settings and can only see game mode, further nothing.

Model Mecool KM2 Plus Have a S905X4 64bits but work in 32 bits
I think is the version of Android 11 running in 32 bits

Yes, it's the android version built to run in 32bits. But I wonder why that was? if the processor supports x64, why is the system embedded in the boxes in 32bits?
Hello guys, I have just acquired a new X96 Pro X4 (S905X4) tv box which is great but the standard android tv system (android 11) is not ideal. I was searching foe some ROM options but it seems there's nothing out yet, am I missing something or still there's no options available?
PS: When I first got the tv box it came with a Chinese version (I'm in China) and the system was a bit different (still Android 11) then, to get rid of chinese apps installed on it I did a factory reset and the system came back as the standard factory version. So, actually there's a chinese ROM available, but I could also not find that one on the web.
This is where I get custom ROMs they don't have one for it yet but the fact they listed your box means they will be releasing a custom ROM for it soon I would assume.

Hi! It's been almost one and a half month since I began experimenting with this TV box. Still can't get to Android recovery mode. We can work together to achieve this goal! Regards! Sebastian.
