ANYONE on earth finally has thier ULTRA autofocus issue resolved after many updates? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Guides, News

Impossible no one is satisfied yet, or will it be a global recall like the note 7.

Mine is inconsistent. Closer distances and lower light get a really low hit rate.
I’m not happy, and unsure if it can be fixed via software or not. My gut says they’ll get it to a point where it is acceptable but it will never be great.

Hardware problem but definitely no recall. 1, 2 more cam updates that will do nothing and will b a forgotten phone soon.

Camera have problem only with focusing on close object so if you don't take a lot macro shots that isn't big deal.Look on my photos.

I am an owner and seen proof of improvements.

Anyone? Yeah 99% of people don't have the issue.

Horrible close ups. My bank won't allow me to make mobile deposits due to check picture being unreadable. Using my oneplus 7t pro McLaren as my daily now. I really waited before buying.

I admittedly haven't taken enough picturesyet to really have a firm opinion on the camera, but I've had no problems taking pictures of checks for mobile deposit.

If you back away and use 2X or 4X that problem goes away.
Of course mobile deposit apps access the camera hardware directly and have no control over the camera so this becomes a problem.
Software updates to these apps to accommodate this feature or shortcoming depending on how you look at it would fix the issue.

Has Dell fixed the camera on this phone?

The DVP was always the one phone I wanted to own but with all its issues I went ahead and bought an Omnia 7 (now updated to Mango).
I've heard Dell has released a new firmware that addresses all the initial issues so I'm wondering if:
a) all the issues are indeed fixed
b) the camera has been improved as it was pretty much terrible
I would appreciate very honest, objective answers so that I know what to expect.
Cheers
a) The stability issues have now been fixed. My phone is now very reliable. (Unfortunately, does not support the new wifi hotspot feature, however).
b) The camera seems to be improved. There's a thread with some pictures below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206192
One of the problems seems to be that the camera doesn't have image stabilisation hardware (which the Samsung phones do have). The suggestion I have found most useful to take better pictures is to tap the screen lightly to take a picture instead of pressing the camera button. (Pressing the camera button shakes the phone and the pictures sometimes turn out blurry).
Also, tweaking the settings helps get better results.
In my opinion, the camera is okay, not great but not terrible either. I think your Samsung will probably take better pictures though.
Thanks, some of these pictures actually look great. My issue is there isn't a new phone announced yet with 32GB storage so I might end up going for a DVP rather than a new and shiny device. We'll see.
camera is worthless.
Deep down I believe you, that phone should really have been a gem.
Sent from my Samsung Omnia 7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Indeed, it needs more effort to keep still when taking a picture e.g. holding your elbows in to your chest and holding the phone with both hands. Also, easier in bright light than dim light as the phone needs to be held still for less time, so less chance of blurry pictures.
If you already have an Omnia, I'd suggest waiting.
The screen, thickness (i.e. bulk) and camera are probably worse on the DVP. The keyboard and storage capacity are better. So it's probably a side-step rather than an upgrade.
I've read about one Mango device so far that appears to be 32GB (unfortunately, Japan / Taiwan only atm):
http://www.phoneshop.co.uk/2011/09/fujitsu-toshiba-is12t-smartphone-review/
It's possible others might be unofficially upgradeable to 32GB - will know once people start using them. The new phones probably have the more powerful GPU too.
Download the Picture Lab app. You can take pictures within the app. It also has an overlay grid and most importantly an image stabilization feature using the phone's gyroscope.

Thanks - looks like a useful app. Unfortunately, I don't think the DVP has a gyroscope.
http://www.wpcentral.com/no-gyroscope-access-current-windows-phones-only-new-mango-devices2
Looks like the new Mango devices can optionally contain a gyroscope, so will probably be easier to get a good picture.
So really they need to release a DVP2.

I am really skeptical of another dvp
While wpcentral reported a rumor of a dell wrigley for india, looking at the specs of the device are really placeholders for a device that is EXTREMELY OLD and it doesn't match the specs from the leak. Furthermore, very reliable contact indicated the wrigley does not EXIST
Unless there was a change in 3 months (which there may be) that ramped up manufacturing of a new device, is is unlikely the device exists...

okay you submitted the tip
and your source is? because (thanks to beta testing) I got some pretty high tips there. I'm not invalidating your sleuthing, but if you take a look at every single page, it is a down grade in specs
Now it is likely that dell is focusing on developing countries in Asia, which is possible (as shown in Japan) but as far as the windows and tablet side, a lot has sort of been scrapped.
And again, it was reiterated in July that the Dell Wrigley does not exist. Further, Dell was making changes to its mobility and tablet strategy to best meet a more diverse demographic.
I'll make sure by dropping a few emails though
Edit
Email dropped. It DOES NOT exist. It's fake! Sorry bro
After the issues I had getting this phone replaced (took over a month) and the fact Dell has completely closed off all of it's North American call centers and all we can get now is india.
Even if there was a DVP2 and it was the best phone on the market bar none, with no problems at all. I wouldn't buy it.

Funny How my experience w/ Dell is so different. I first bought my Brand new DVP back in Jan.'11 Had problems in Mar.'11 and Dell replaced it with-in the week.. Then Recently(days ago) My DVP had problem that it kept restarting whenever I slide the KB, Dell Replaced it with-in 3days.
No Extra cost.

All i'm gonna say is you are lucky.
I haven't had any problems with mine at all and it was manufactured 30th March 2011. I even forced it to upgrade to mango and haven't had any issues.
Even put a generic class10 32gb microSD card in it with no issues so far.
The camera is actually quite good now. Possibly even the best wp7 camera, with the exception of flash photos.
Here are some comparison photos of the DVP and my HD7.
The quality is good if you're a statue. I do not think it has an image stabilization. A slight movement causes the photo to be blurry.

The DVP's camera does not compete at all favorably with that of the Mango HTC phones either on quality or features. The new phones feature superior optics (f2.2 lenses), and burst and panorama modes. On top of that, the Titan's is also 8 megapixel.
And once the lights go down, it gets even worse. The DVP's flash is utterly anemic, and introduces a yellow banding effect onto pictures.
The DVP's might be better than the HD7's, but there can't be any serious claim to the best WP7 camera.

Faulty S8/camera or something is set up wrong?

Hello. Today I bought a brand new Galaxy S8. Everything was working fine until I decided to test out my camera. It is either wrongly set up or I have a faulty sensor. Take a look at these 2 samples:
http://imgur.com/a/6qGCO
It does gain focus and take a decent pic in very close distance to photographed object. However, when moving it a little bit far, the image gets completely blurry. I have no idea what should I do now, I am kinda disappointed and it's a terrible first impression as for a newly bought phone. Should I return it or shall I tinker with camera app a litle more? The same thing happens in Snapchat so I'd rather opt for camera sensor being faulty

Try downloading another camera app and test to see if you still get the same problems. I'd try the stock Google camera app. I'd be curious to know if you get the same results.

The steps I have done:
On system level:
- clear camera cache
- clear data
- force close
*did not help*
then I booted into recovery, done factory reset, it solved the issue. if it still doesn't work you may need to return it and get replacement :/

I already returned the first sm-g950f because of the same problem. It started sporadically, restarting the camera app or the phone helped in the first few days. On day 8 I tried factory reset but the camera was still out of focus. Only object closer than 6-7 cm were OK, everything else was blurry. I tested the camera in the *#0*# service menu: blurry.
The second device started showing the same symptoms a few minutes ago. Now focusing to a close object then focusing away helped. I keep monitoring for the next days.
Update:
Day #11: blurry camera, stuck focus in macro for a minute. Refocusing did not help. Closing and starting camera app again, focus now working normally.
Don't have this issue, but in general if there is dirt on the lens, it could affect focus.

i have the same problem
any help how to slove it?
I have a similar issue, when launching the camera after some time the rear camera is completely out of focus no matter the distance of the object. After "shaking" the phone, it works fine.
Looks like the stabilizer or the autofocus is stuck and the shake fix it. What do you think?
I think I'll contact the support tomorrow
I have the S8+ European version, G955F
Is this okay? I got a blurry back cam for my newly bought s8, but after reading the suggestion to "shake" it, it became clearer. Is this normal? Is this how that is suppose to be?
hi everyone. just want yo share my experience. i bought a brend new s8 at launch . everything ok. but 3 weeks ago it started to give blurry rear cam at times. let say one for five camera app launch..... i called samsung. they told me to bring the phone to them for testing. and eventually replace the camera sensor. oh noooo. never i will accepe an opened s8............the story solved with an ota update the last week. everything ok since

Samsung s8 is Rubbish
Bought the phone for my wife as a replacement for her 32GB s6 Edge. After 3 weeks of use this blurry rear camera started occurring. Started with once in awhile and then continued to happen more often. Shaking the phone would get it to work until the next time it faulted. It eventually was occurring every time you would launch the camera app. Searched online and found that there are MANY instances of people all over the world experiencing the same issue and shaking their phones to get the camera to work. Clearly a hardware fault.
Contacted Samsung NZ who proceeded to take me through all the typical troubleshooting steps which I had already followed from online. Eventually did a factory reset to appease them and what do you know, the issue remained and started as soon as I opened the camera app after the factory reset.
Took it to the Vodafone provider who sent it to Samsung. Received the phone back 4 days later (sent Monday, received Friday), the Samsung report states that the camera was replaced and Samsung replicated the issue on the phone. Now the camera will work and won't be blurry as soon as you open the camera app but the pictures are horrible quality. Doing a picture compare between my s6 Edge / Note 5 and the repaired s8. The s8 pictures are of terrible quality.
Very disappointed, $1000 phone, broken after a month of use. I will be taking this up with Samsung again soon.
My theory on why this issue has occurred. Samsung were trying to stick the fingerprint reader in the screen like what the iPhone 8 is doing. Samsung ran out of time and made the bad design decision to stick the fingerprint reader next to the camera. This caused the hardware fault of the blurry camera and proceeds to cause the bad quality of images.
This is not a software fault, it is a hardware fault.
I'm sure Samsung would want to save as much face as they can after the Note 7 incident. As the s8 is the first flagship after the Note 7.
This issue is not limited to the s8, s8 plus users are experiencing the same issue. The Note 8 has been designed the same way and will most likely have the same issue.

Thank you for your most gracious wonderful opinion. It's greatly appreciated.
Same issue here, found that shaking the phone fixed the camera problem but it happens entirely too often. That being said I do have a few energy saving apps and wondering if it is putting the camera components in hibernation until I shake the phone. Anyway, did the OP findnout what was causing his blurriness?

Who is returning their OnePlus 5? [MEGA THREAD]

So who is not satisfied with their OnePlus 5 and wants to return is using the 15 day no-hassle return system. If you can please state your reason why.
I'm not returning it, because my unit is not defective, and it's a great phone. Sure, it's not perfect, and the camera isn't that it was hyped to be, but it's still an amazingly snappy phone at a not unreasonable cost.
You should have an option for not returning as that's the question you've asked.
for design reasons '? really ? you guys need a kick on your head...
I'm still testing my phone but for now, i'm really not impressed by the camera. After 7 years of using iPhone i finally decided to buy an Android phone. OnePlus 5 is a beast in terms of performance. But even my iPhone 6 can make better photos sometimes and video recording is all blurry and can't focus at all. If I keep OP5, i will keep it just for near stock android experience but i'm not sure yet. Maybe i will wait for Pixel 2 and hope for some reasonable price.
returned, camera *****

No i didn't know that the camera can be so bad i. I can't record any video without having focus issues. Even the code was Clearer Photos but it's not the case at all.
im very happy with the phone and camera. However, I came from the Honor 8 to this one, so the upgrade was extreme. And both cameras on this phone seem to be working extremely well after the update released yesterday(or saturday?). with that said video recording might still need some tweaking in 4K mode without using a stabilizer aside from that, i have no good reason to return this phone.
i don't know why people are bashing on the phone for terrible photo's? especially after the update from yesterday the phone makes pretty good images. would love to know a phone which has a better one under 500 euro's

I think its more that OP made the camera a big selling point. I never really expected it to be as good as the Pixel or S8 but more about a step below. This camera seems to be much much worse than what people were expecting
I hate Samsung and would never buy a galaxy but I have to admit with recent deals, the S8 would be a better phone to buy

Yeah, I agree with you when you say that they made their selling point on the camera. But don't forget the fact that it can change a lot with software update, and maybe we are only at the beginning of a great journey with it. Look, already an update yesterday.
With every iteration of OnePlus, I think it was like this: many updates. to improve software sides of components.

I had An s7 before the op5 and most definitly its slower/worse battery/camera slow as hell. So sorry but no lol

{Question} Should i wait for the 6GB variant or get the 4GB?

I waited too long for the 6GB variant but my patience is at the end now. I recently got the Real Me 1 6GB/128 and that phone is pure bull**** in terms of software (kinda love stock os), crappy iOS looks, bad features like can't see battery sot, no unlock bootloader option for OPPO phones etc. I returned it back to Amazon.
I'm still waiting for the 6GB variant, I already had Redmi Note 5 pro so I wouldn't get that same device again, tired of miui and flashing roms so gave it to my bro.
Should I wait or get the 4GB? 6GB phone launch timeline was Mid June but I don't see it in next sale too. I know nobody knows that in real but I'm desperate to get a new phone. Help or suggestions please? Next phone is Mi A2 which will also be stock Android but no idea when it will be released.
I'm waiting too for the 6gb variant, read somewhere that they started production of the 6gb variant after announcing it, so I guess will take a while, I'm going for the 4gb variant this Thursday because can't wait any longer now!

agreed, I'd have taken realme1 in a heartbeat had it have unlockable bootloader or stock android out of the box.
I too know I'll regret not going for the high end model because the processor is weak and I'm coming from a snapdragon 820 so it'll feel slow for sure, atleast 6gb ram would be a good thing if I could get it

That's a very strong review of the phone. I have been using it for more than a month ago and while it doesn't compare to the fastness and quality of the OP6, the Zenfone Pro M1 is a remarkable phone.. The software is definitely not buggy or lagging, the cameras are definitely good in this price range (maybe the front camera is not upto the mark), battery is defintely good giving about 10 hours SOT/2days moderate use. ZENtalk is definitely crap - that's why we have XDA and the launcher can always be replaced with NOVA or LAWNCHAIR. Either you have got a defective phone or you are just trying to bad mouth a very good value for money phone.

Stop being a fanboy, no good comes out of such an attitude. And stop making these insinuations. If you don't agree then say so and leave it at that. Now coming back to the point. Its not remarkable, its down right pathetic. It stutters everywhere except the App drawer. Gosh even the dialer stutters. The google cards stutter,Facebook....don't even get me started on that. Cameras are pathetic and nothing can improve that situation, not even GCAM. It can certainly make it it better but to a limited extent. The battery is not optomized at all. SOT is around 7-8 hours on avg, but the question, that quite pathetic from a 5000 Mah battery. Finger print and Face Unlock is also pathetic and it speaks volume that they had to release three updates to make it work and still can't get them to work properly. My two cent. take it or leave it.

Well, sadly all these review are worthless. They are more concerned about opening the app rather than the experience while using the APP. There is lag and stutter everywhere from the dialer, to google cards to facebook. Everything lags and its horrendous. Anyways, I know how to put in place people who are results of worthless procreation between individuals who were clearly not thinking properly at the time. . Cheers!!

I think the same, it seems they just fake promised the 6GB model. Anyway, I got Redmi Note 5 pro in the meantime back from my cousin ( just unlocked the bootloader and will flash custom rom to get rid of MIUI) will use it till Asus releases the 6GB version if EVER in future. I think I will be old, get married and couple of kids waiting for this phone.

Don't blame Asus, blame Android. Even my Google pixel 2 XL sometimes take blind pictures cause of ram issues or reload apps. I can feel your pain, anything below 4GB ram is unacceptable in today's standard. That's one of the reason I'm waiting for 6GB variant.
I'm actually sold for a 15k phone with near about stock Android. If there's Mi A2 by Xiaomi before Asus releasing it, I will forget Asus and buy that phone.

Photochrome in2023 model

I have the 2023 version running 10.5.11.IN11AA and I have the photochrome tab but when I switch to it I just get the regular camera view (no effect at all), screenshot included.
From what I gathered, the IN2023 model should still have the photochrome filter, and in any case the fact that it's there but does nothing seems weird to me.
ideas?
EDIT: nvm, it's just so weak now that I haven't noticed that it does anything. Shame.
Oneplus just released a patch with the latest update disabling the camera responsible for the filter because it had the potential to see through certain fabrics and plastics.

those days are gone , you better sell your phone like im doing and buy huawei or samsung ultra or wait for note 20
Stop talk about what you don't know, oneplus has not disabled the sensor. Now it use the 48mp camera together with the 5mp camera to capture the colors and create the filter

The 48MP + filter combination is useless, I couldn't care less about the colors, I wanted to just check how the "xray" camera looks like. That said, I'm not going to sell the phone just because they disabled a camera. I still think it is the best Android phone right now, and if you bought it just for a 5MP filter camera you should reconsider your consumer choices.
The photo filter works. Needs more light. So basically works only outside. Details it takes now is lot better than 5mp camera before it, buy requires lot light since sensivity is on high range. And sell the phone just coz some filter is not working and downgrade to other android phone by paying more, that's just st....

Then sell it and stop moaning!! Do us all a favour. If you didn't research it then that's your fault.
Also if it's not the most developed phone at this time? Amongst flagships, please elaborate with all your wisdom what is??
Just got the dreaded update to 10.
Simply disregarded it then took to Twitter to tear OnePlus a new bum hole.
Poor judgement and poor decisions by OnePlus.
I'll not be taking it until they sort their heads up out
I am disappointed.
Does anyone know how to get it back on the latest firmware?
