Stuck in fastboot after failed try to install lineageos for Redmi 7a - Redmi 7A Questions & Answers

Newbie
I installed twrp on a Redmi 7A, I followed instruction to wipe the phone but at the moment to install the os image (which I am not even sure is working) I realised I copy the wrong file, so I poweredoff the pone to get the sd card to copy it and when I repowered I am stuck in fastmode.
sudo fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sudo fastboot reboot
Keeps me in fast mode.
Is there anyway I can reboot with TWRP?

aside from the obvious power off then powering on pressing the power button and volume up, then releasing the power button when the phone starts, You might want to reflash via adb the boot.img and recovery.img you downloaded, to see those commands, go to this post:https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-7a/how-to/guide-twrp-root-magisk-custom-rom-t4027441

Thank you I'm now out of the fastboot and ave a working TWRP.
The only problem remaining is that my phone keeps on rebooting and again and again being stuck on the Redmi splash screen.
lineage-16.0-20191017-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm_bvN.img.xz + all the rest including Open Gapps nano
What am I doing wrong?

I tried every version arm and arm64 of 16 and 17 from https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/
Attached is the logs if that helps recovery.log and dmesg.log

I sorted it by using this page https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-7a/development/rom-lineageos-17-1-t4056545

Can you get to the bootloader screen so you can use fastboot? If so try flashing the TWRP recovery, it's a great recovery.

I can press the power button and both volumes and it gets me to download mode... from there, every option i try just gets me back to recovery. when i press start, it sends me to recovery. when i press shut down and then turn it on - recovery. when i press restart bootloader, it still takes me to recovery afterwards. wtf happened here man? never seen this before.

If you can at least get to download/fastboot mode, either get the stock recovery.img file or extract the recovery.img file from a custom_recover.zip, such as CMW or TWRP and place it in the directory where you have the fastboot util on your Windows PC, plug in the device into your Windows PC. Then type the folowing in a Windows Command prompt(without the quotes): "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". Once that finishes then try rebooting back to recovery.
If you that doesn't work you may have a damaged bootloader, you can try extracting the bootloader(bootloader-manta-mantalj12.img) from the stock ROM and flashing it with the following command: "fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-manta-mantalj12.img" then you can type: "fastboot reboot-bootloader" to reboot directly to the bootloader.

This happened to me yesterday.
Step 1 - hold down the power+volume up+volume down
Step 2 - plug up USB cable and use fastboot to flash the "touch" recovery version. Usebthe method as before, you might need to point your machine to the "naked driver" in dev section to get windows to see the fastboot device driver.
Step 3 - once you are in touch recovery you can just use the touchscreen instead of power button

You can just "adb reboot" from any computer with working adb and drivers.
This needs to not be flashed by default from Rom Manager until they get it taken care of. Twrp and cwm touch work just fine.

Seriously. Can we please sticky a thread or something that says CWM isn't stable on the nexus 10 yet. It would save a lot of people a lot of trouble.
I had the same issue get rid of crappy cwm and flash twrp, flash it by downloading the 1.3 nexus 10 rootkit selecting option 6 i believe with your n10 connected to your pc, it will fix your issue

I was able to fix it by re-flashing CW touch. thanks guys!

Unable to get in recovery

Is there any way I can get into recovery? and does anybody have a OS file? my Zenfone3 doesnt have a OS installed
Use power + volume down to turn on your phone and get into recovery.
Download the OS off of the ASUS website, load onto your external sdcard and "apply update from micro sd" while in recovery.

Tried power + volume down, just wont let me and proceeds into booting screen (then boots forever)
Is there a link I can get for the OS? I dont know where to find it
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Ze...user.zip?_ga=1.122073289.331027854.1489421015
the above is a link to the WW version of Marshmallow for the ZE552KL.....you didn't mention which model phone you had? how did you lose the OS? If you can't get into recovery, maybe you can still get in to fastboot mode, and from there you can flash a new recovery and then OS.
so when your phone is fully powered off and then you hold volume down and power for 10 seconds nothing happens? It just keeps booting? what about volume up and power for 10 seconds?
Snowwolf725 was kind enough to post a link to all the recovery and bootloader images:
https://mega.nz/#F!ok0V0RIA!5WKtHe98opzjVI3NPbM7Ww
Download the one for your model and firmware and then you can push it to your phone with "fastboot flash recovery xxx.img"

If you can't get into recovery mode, fastboot mode, or anything like that, then that means it's a hard brick. Unless you can figure out a way to get into recovery or fastboot mode, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Then you're probably fine. Boot/flash recovery and then flash the OS from ASUS' website.
Pyroaz, download the recovery image for the z017d I have attached. Unzip it and then flash it to your phone while it's in fastboot mode. The command is fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
after that, you should have access to recovery with the volume down and power keys.
download the following OS image for the z017d and put on your external sdcard and then flash in recovery:

[SOLVED] Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime cannot boot to TWRP

I have a Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime/Pro and my problem is that I cannot boot into recovery using the Power+Volume Up method. When I do so, my phone gets stuck at the Mi boot logo. However, I can boot into recovery when I hold Power+Volume Down (I enter fastboot mode), then I connect my phone to my PC and I use the commands:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot boot twrp.img
I don't know if it's normal that my phone restarts automatically and boots into recovery when I hit enter with the last command.
I want to be able to get into recovery using the Power+Volume Up technique. Also, I heard that if I hold the Volume Up key when I reboot from fastboot will open a window with an option to disable stock recovery replacement. This also doesn't work and gets me to the stuck screen with the Mi boot logo.
Is there anything I can do to open TWRP using the Power+Volume Up method?

Switch off the phone and wait for 10sec. After that hold together Volume Up + Volume Down + Power and wait (i guess 5-15sec) until you see recovery.

Hello,
thanks for your response. I don't know if you actually read my post, but my phone reboots after the command
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
and then it directly boots into TWRP. So getting into TWRP isn't that much of a problem here. I wanted to get into recovery without a PC and without using any of these commands.
Also, please try to describe the procedure more precisely next time because typing out just one command that isn't even surrounded in
Code:
quotes...
Thank you.

Hello,
thank you for your answer. One thing I forgot to mention is that I use a custom OS too (MoKee ROM) with Android 6.0.1. Although this has an option for 'Advanced reboot' where you can reboot to recovery, this option always got me to the Mi boot logo and stays stuck there.
Also, I already fixed this problem by holding Power+Volume Up+Volume Down at the same time.
Best regards,
DJsushi

Unable to install twrp in redmi 2

So, I followed anandmore's thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-2/how-to/ultimate-guide-redmi-2-users-rooting-to-t3294212:
I did following commands in fastboot mode -
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
But after rebooting, it gets stuck on MI logo. What should I do?
Can you get into recovery? I don't remeber what button combination it is on stock rom, but on custom is it VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER, when phone light up, release power button and keep holding the volume buttons
The commands you need are
fastboot devices (for recognise the device)
fastboot flash recovery file.img (you can change the name file if you want, to be easy)
fastboot boot file.img (this command is necessary for the first boot into the new recovery flashed)
You need open the CMD ADB/Fastboot in the same file folder with the recovery.img, if not, not works
Hi, I had the same as you. You need to press the buttons as the other user said (volume up + down + power), when the phone is off. And hold them until you see twrp.
(FYI, the phone will boot with miui logo, then it takes maybe 15-30seconds to show twrp, you need to hold all the time I think, until twrp shows).
Thank you B.Paiter !!
"fastboot boot file.img (this command is necessary for the first boot into the new recovery flashed)" did it for me !

[SOLVED] Need help with hard brick

Hi,
I'm not new in flashing rom but this time i have a big problem !
My oneplus 6t stuck in the "press power key to pause boot" page.
Pressing power do nothing same as power + vol down.
I was using lineage 16 fajita, no problem but wanted to upgrade to lineage 17.
I went to bootloader, flash twrp, boot on twrp, and flash rom from the zip on my internal storage.
everything goes well with no error.
on reboot the phone stuck on the boot page.
I'm under linux, adb and fastboot ok (no windows os at home).
What can i do ?
Thanks for you help.
OK i found how to shut down the phone by pressing : vol up + power 15" with the phone unplugged
After that pressing vol up + vol down + power make the phone boot on bootloader.
I try to flash the twrp recovery now with "fastboot flash boot recovery.img" (no error)
But when i try to enter recovery (vol down + power) the screen stuck in the boot page
Any idea ?
You need to boot to the twrp recovery first, THEN flash it to memory from that recovery.
I think the command is 'fastboot boot <recovery.img>

Different android versions maybe causing this issue. Lineage 17 requires A10 base, no? Could be wrong.
When this happened to me I tried all sorts of things except MSM Tool.
Reboot phone. On the next hang, try holding down the volume down and or volume up buttons when it hangs. It worked for me and let me boot to twrp so I could format internal storage.
But it was indeed some strange undocumented key combo that allowed me to boot.
If else fails you could just MSM Tool back, flash Android 10 from OnePlus then flash LOS17.

Oh my bad i flash lineage 17 directly from my lineage 16 under android 9 didn't think about upgrading android 10 first... !!
Yeas i already try combo like vol down or up or power... no way to access twrp...
Well i found a solution to have TWRP back by following a tutorial about slots.
I was on slot B and fastboot tried to flash recovery on slot B !!
so i did :
*fastboot getvar current-slot > answer B
*fastboot flash boot_a recovery.img
*fastboot --set-active=a
after that reboot to recovery and yes ! TWRP is back !
From there i installed the twrp zip and flash it and finally installed the lineage 16 zip and flash it.
A wipe data, dalvik... done and IT WORKs !!!
Thanks for helping !
