PSA: Disable "Game Optimizing Service" on you phone to improve gaming performance
This is at least proven to work on Exynos S20 series.
Disable the mentioned package will allow PUBG to run at almost stable 60fps, while before that the game would drop to 40-50fps after 10 or 20 mins.
So use either adb or pdp to disable this and profit!
Detailed information in videos:

Can't be uninstalled with ADB. Tried several times. It always reappears. Disabling with Package Disabler works. But I don't like such apps. I hope you find a way to uninstall with ADB

You cannot uninstall a system app but you can disable using ADB (its the same as using the app).

Look in your apps. It's still there.

Just disable it with CCSW App Manager. Works.

Yes, still the same throttling.

For all of you who love to play games ... watch this video... https://youtu.be/Pzv7z04iQj0
S20U-Exynos

I have a Exynos Note 9
Came across and applied THIS.
Youtube.com/embed/h4F0L-soM1I
Confirming it Worked for me, esp Longterm Pubg FPS staying near 60fps at FHD+ in HD Preset the entire time..
Not the usual 10-15mins until 40-45fps starts happening and stays there.
Sky - Children of the Night also has smoother (higher MinFPS) on average it appears.. a bit smoother overall fpr a 30fps UE4 title.
Thought its worth sharing my opinion..this Software does in fact impose its own rules by Samsung (uses less power upon declocking to save battery temps) and once removed, uses a fair bit more power (chong liu on Youtube has been doing comparisons recently on GOS being Disabled) your at the peril of Hardware level throttling schemes still but may still want to use a cooling fan or mounted fan.
With a cooling fan my battery never went above 42*c still 60fps 1080p Maxed PUBG after 30mins.

I dont understand why Samsung basically cut the Exynos off at the knees.... and then get angry when they get negative feedback!?? I hope this AMD integration saves them, but TBH, its all hype at the moment - in reality GPU will be strong but the CPU will continue to be a fail

Be aware that it also increases your battery usage while gaming. (and the heating)

Someone tried to run antutu on cold phone with disabled Game Optimizing Service?

Does this make pokego run at 60fps? Since the service disabled I can't monitor the FPS anymore

I want to buy S20 (exynos) version. I guess there are new updates .What is the throttling and heating siguation now? Is it better? I only play PUBG and review I have read are really bad.
And what about bluetooth - is there the audio lag in game when using bluetooth headphones?

How to stop ActivityManager killing apps due to "high power cost"???

By now you may have heard about Axon 7 killing music playing app issue, if you haven't experienced it yourself already. For me I'm having a similar or at least related issue. The phone would kill my game when I turn off and on screen. After some investigation, below is my observation
1. Doesn't happen all the time. After a fresh reboot, no killing for a while... but after some time using the phone, it starts to happen
2. Not app-specific: After playing a game heavily for a while, the killing starts... only for that specific game. If I play a different game, then only that new game gets killed.
This have driven me kinda crazy. A look at adb logs reveals this:
12-22 12:45:34.229 I/ActivityManager( 1752): Killing 23881:jp.co.happyelements.toto/u0a122 (adj 0): excessive high power cost :jp.co.happyelements.toto
What the actual f***??? Why would ZTE kill my "excessive high power cost" process *after* I turn on the screen (and not when I turn off screen, which was 5 seconds earlier)??? Has nobody in ZTE thought about that apps that has "high power cost" may not be actually "excessive" but totally within reasons and fall into the category of normal every day use?
And no amount of changing the native "power saving" options stopped this behavior. Back in the days I remember there was some root/xposed module that would whitelist apps from being killed by the OS but I couldn't remember the name. So now I have to ask help on how to deal with this idiocy.
Edit: My apologies... I just noticed I posted in the wrong section... mods please move the thread to Q&A section if possible. Thanks a lot.
is there seriously no solution?
This is intolerable

I did. Didn't help.
If it was that easy, then I wouldne be here asking about it would I?
Yep, have the same problem after trying the same things. Several apps (2 of which I use for monitoring blood sugar levels) will randomly stop updating until either re-launched or the phone is rebooted. I have disabled all power manager options to no avail. Whatever power management system ZTE has implemented, it's FAR too aggressive.
Disclaimer - I haven't pulled logcats, but your description of the problem matches mine exactly. Here's hoping for a fix in Nougat and/or a custom ROM, otherwise I'm moving to a different phone. The A7 has great hardware but the stock software is a bloated mess.
B27 does not have this issue (which is why I downgraded to it). Might be a solution for you until the next upgrade releases.

@whoiswes If you are talking about the xdrip app. I too want this app to work with this phone. I tried CM13 and had the app work for hours then at night it stopped working. I only tried it for one night so didn't try different settings. At least this is a positive sign once CM13 becomes more stable or CM14 is released. I heard the app won't work with B27 either.
Found a solution, though it needs root
Code:
pm disable com.zte.powersavemode
then reboot
This totally disables the power saving menu though

I made this xposed module specifically to fix the problem described in OP. If you have the exact problem, including the logcat message, then the module should fix it.
If you dont have the exact problem, including the logcat mesage, then go ****post in another thread.
My solution is to whitelist all apps in:
settings -> energy management -> app energy management -> option button (upper right) -> app protection list -> option button -> set all to off
But the problem is that this setting resets everytime you install/delete an app
Edit: Ok i just tried out manually setting all apps to "off", now it doesn't reset the apps when installing an app but the new app ist automatically allowed to be cleaned. So you still have to disallow cleaning for each installed app manually.
Just an FYI, I updated to the Cyanogenmod/Lineage 13 Beta by UDev and one of my problem apps has been running for 18 hours without a single hiccup. Trying the second problem app later today. Not a solution for this problem but from my perspective it definitely pinpoints Power Manager as the culprit.
@borijess - yeah, Nightwatch and xDrip are the 2 apps that I've had trouble with, and so far Nightwatch is working great on CM13 (1228 build).

Small Tip: Disable Lookout for Better Performance on the S8

I noticed some lag on my S8 and I realized that it might be lookout that's causing the lag, as I had it on a prior phone and it caused some lag on that phone.
Go to settings > apps > and find lookout and just press the disable button. For me, at least, I noticed a slight improvement in performance.
disclaimer: yes, I'm sure there are benefits to having Lookout scan and ensure all your apps are safe, but I get all my apps from the play store, and stick with ones I know. Do this at your own risk/responsibility.
Some other things I did that seemed to have helped:
1. I stopped opening the official facebook app. I use a FB wrapper app called 'simple pro' for facebook. Way lighter, less resource intensive.
2. I had installed Greenify to try to help hibernate apps, but I uninstalled it. I think the way it was trying to hibernate apps was causing some lag. Just my observation/assumption. But after I uninstalled, my phone is running way smoother.
That was the only reason why I paid for the disabling app was to get rid of lookout!

You don't need to buy anything - you can just do it in the stock settings.
The disable app button is actually disabled for me.
So does this fix some lag time too or what improvement did you see offhand?

Yes, for me, it reduced the lag/stutter I was seeing here and there.
As a side, I was actually also using Greenify app to try to save battery life, but I noticed that after I UNINSTALLED it, my s8 is also running smoother.
I'll update the original post w/ things I was doing to improve performance - now it's way smoother.

To disable it on t-mobile you need to go into the lookout app and turn off the option to find your stolen phone. After doing so the force stop and disable buttons will no longer be greyed out.
Im trying to get Package Disabler pro to work, and after I activate PDP engine it just flashes the screen a bunch of times and says it has a network error

Microfreeze during the work

Hey guys. I think that I have a little problem. Sometimes when I watch videos or play games e.t.c. lag appears duration that processes. Duration of the lag approximately is 0.5-1 second. I mean, when I watch a video, frame can stop for 0.5-1 second and after that quickly move to the next one. What's wrong? Phone lives for 3 days. Thank you in advance.
Hmmmm have you tried debloating your phone or using PDP? Too much going on at once in the background could cause the lag

What does PDP mean? I haven't many applications on my phone. Maybe after upgrading I had to restore phone system? But I have a lag rarely, 1 time per 40-60 minutes
PDP is package disabler pro it lets you disable apps that you don't need like carrier bloat that still run in the background and you could try that as well
OK, thank you, but I think there is another reason of lags. How do u think what else can be wrong? Because phone is new
remove sd card and try without it.
if you had one in your device...
Yes, Thank you. I'll try it

Tweak your Firestick/FireTV [Disable services / Debloat / Speed up]

Hey guys,
I have a 2nd gen firestick and i've noticed it does get quite hot and occasionally reboots.
To mitigate this, I have done the following:
Stop/disable all unused features (App store settings / Privacy settings etc)
Used clean master lite to remove temp files, clear cache
Used a small drill to add ventilation to the device!
You can see a step by step guide here
Since doing the above, my device definitely is cooler and seems to run smoother.
Let me know how you find it.
thanks!
Tried to install cmlite on my firestick but its UI not compatible.
Any other junk cleaners wud u recommend?

I personally had an overheating Fire Stick 2 and did all of this. I got a replacement (that I didnt debloat just changed launcher, etc) and it barely even gets hot. Ill bet something is being removed software-wise that shouldn't be.

If you have a heat problem, you must not uninstall or disable com.amazon.imp!
com.amazon.imp is active -> CPU load ~20
com.amazon.imp is disabled or removed -> CPU load ~70%
What works is to hide the package (pm hide com.amazon.imp)

Nova 3i Bugs

Hi all!
I am a Samsung user genuinely. But since my last phone broke down, it broke my budget too.
Got Nova and here are some bugs.
1) Bluetooth speaker issue. the sound is way late than the video. (Edit: Fixed by going in developer options and changing "Bluetooth audio codec")
2) Camera is not having any kind of stabilization.
3) It hangs like hell and u r not left with any option. Not even restart.
4) Not the fastest 4gb ram phone.
5) The interface of the phone is laggy af ( can be fixed by installing 3rd party launchers).
6) Processor temps are never lower than 60 degree C. Idk if its fine or not but antutu temp sensor always shows it in red text.
These are the ones I could find... tell if u have any.. or at least have found fix for any of them.
BTW...
Today got an update of 288MB which is currently downloading. Hope it fixes some bugs.

Lol I kinda like mine, except for a few things I guess but I got it for a good deal, well I reckon anyway - $380 NZD.
What did you replace it with?
Hello! These issues, especially the Camera app being buggy, are common.
The performance issue, please go to settings > Battery > Battery Usage and see which apps are using a lot of background usage, then click on the app and there's written 'App Launch', click on that and toggle off the 'Manage Automatically' and also toggle off all of the toggled on things to prevent the app from consuming background usage.
On this device you can also disable/uninstall many apps that if u dont need, please do so, here are some list of apps you can disable which would improve performance:
1. Gmail (replace with another mail client like FairEmail)
2. Youtube (replace with another application like NewPipe)
3. You can also disable playstore and the main Google app.
4. You can also disable Google Play Services, this consumes a lot of background usage, more than HMS! You can replace playstore with F-Droid and you can get FOSS apps.
5. Replace Facebook with Frost for Facebook, or disable background access to it from the previous performance issue guide.
I am not getting performance issue on mine, so make sure u check which apps are using background/battery usage a lot so you'd find out.
