(Q) is there a way to disable the swipe in gesture on one side? - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I like the back store in gestures, butt I don't need it on the left only the right.
Anyway to disable it?
Cheers in advance
PS: would prefer a mod rather than an app or a file change.
Not sure how simple this is but there are a tonne of apps which have a swipe in gesture for side menus, the XDA app is one of them.

Dont think it's what you want. But ask in here.

Yea I've seen that, it's for two button gestures.
I've been so used to using the FP sensor for my navigation I can't go back to buttons now, plus you lose screen

There really should be a left hand right hand option

You can use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivianuu.oneplusgestures
On phone settings>navigation bar & gestures>choose navigation bar
On vivid app , disable navigation bar
Set a bottom edge for home and recents gesture
And a right edge for back gesture....

Yea I'd prefer not to have something like that tbh. If there's a way to change a value in a time would be the best option I think.
I just want the left side gesture off.
I'll see if I can find the gesture settings myself, muddy be in an ini somewhere

It's that using the same technology? I thought pixel users used that weird squeeze gesture.
I would never say can't in any way. But thanks for your input.

Pulling down notification bar problem!!!

Hi you all!
I'm so disappointed that after months there's still no stand-alone app which is able to pull down the notification bar and the quick settings of my device since the Lolliflop upgrade. I've downgraded once (was forced to upgrade again), contacted developers, today Samsung's customer support. What's left to do? Do I really need to downgrade once again? Is it really that hard to write an app like this?! Where are the developers?! Please help!
Many greetings

My suggestion would be factory resetting it.
Is there an app that does this on kitkat? Can u point me in the right direction?
^Search for these terms in the Play Store and you'll find them pretty easily.

Unfortunately they don't work in landscape mode for Note edge. .. [emoji20]
Any ideas to fix?
Really? Well, in landscape mode you can reach the status bar anyway much easier.

Not on note edge... there is no status bar in landscape mode....
This is good because space isn't wasted when for example u r using navigation...
But it would be good to be able to get notification bar down from the edge so that location can be turned on quickly when using navigation...
Thought this app would do it... but only works in portrait.
Can't you just swipe down from the top? What am I missing?
This: one hand use!

Swipe from the middle right edge to the center of the screen and back. It should shrink the screen for one hand use.
Thank you, but I know this gesture already. ?
Conceding defeat on this one. ...
I have the key features I need as shortcuts on an edge panel instead.
I am glad the status bar is hidden in landscape mode. .. means more usable screen area

Doesn't Nova Launcher do this? I have it set that I can swipe downwards anywhere on the home screen to bring down the notifications panel.

I haven't tried this specifically... but not sure it will work when the edge is at the top in landscape mode.
Have you been able to do this on the note edge?
It seems as if the edge blocks the notification panel coming down. ... no matter what app tries to bring it down.

Ah, I see. Sorry, I'm on a standard Note 4 can't help you there
But you could download the free version and give it a try, you never know.
EDIT: Just to confirm it DOES work in landscape mode on the standard Note 4.
Try this app, you can use it to customise the buttons or enable swipe actions to open notification bar etc

[Q] Any way to move the notification panel to the bottom of screen(similar to IOS)

Is there any way show the notification panel by swiping from the bottom of the screen instead of the top(default)?
basically is there anything that will allow me to view the expanded notification panel without having to pull down from the status bar?
You haven't gotten any responses because it isn't possible. End of story. New to Android?

Nah but upgrading from a galaxy s4 that has been on 4.4 for 3 years(custom rom) With the new galaxy, its harder to reach the status bar when using one hand.
I agree with you with this one... The navigation bar is a bit of a pain to reach, Although pinning apps to edge bar seems to work OK for me.

then use the one hand operation to make it easier. that's what it is there for. tap the home button three times. that will make the screen smaller, and easy for one hand operation. if you don't have it setup, then go into settings, and advanced settings.
You should try the notification edge panel I bought it straight away then i realised I could of bought the edge notification panel from playstore with the reward app I had.
No way to move the notification pull down itself, but using Nova Launcher Prime (the pay version), you can set up a screen gesture to open the notification shade. You can assign to a downward swipe (starting anywhere on the screen), or a double tap, or other options. Unfortunately, I think this only works from the home page, not from within another app.

Yup. best answer!
I've been using this for years. Still not the same as having a smaller phone though.
Swipe down for notifications, swipe up to sleep.

I should have posted an update but found a work around.
Using All In One Gestures app, I can swipe up from the home button and it will expand the notification panel. This works in any app unlike the Nova option.
Hi, you can use fooView, it allows to expand notification just pulling down the floating icon down, and other actions like back, home, recent, etc. with just one hand.

J Touch app for navigation rocks

Hey friends
I really don't like the navbar which is reducing the screen to much, so I decided to install J Touch app from playstore.
Loaded a nice looking home button jpeg picture from the web. Give the button a one hit back function, a long press home function and a swipe up for recents.
Please see attached pictures navigating is nice and I whish I could even eliminate the navbar on the homescreen

No I don't think so. There is transparency setted, the button is popping if hitted and it is shifting up on home screen. You could be as scared or even more about a status bar burn in...
and look how much time is needed:
"Test Results
The iPhone X displayed burn-ins before the Galaxy Note 8 at 17 hours. However, it took 510 hours for the images to become permanently etched on its display which also marked the end of the test.
Compared to that, the Note 8 took 62 hours to show first signs of display burn-in, which is impressive. However, it had permanent marks way before the end of the test. The Galaxy S7 Edge showed signs of burn-in sooner than the iPhone X, however, it showed permanent burn-ins much later than the Note 8 and almost at iPhone X’s 510 hour mark."
From page:

Ok so would you recommend the app over navigation gesture? The gesture is not polished at the moment I'll give the app a go

I think so, you can also activate temporary move, which is helpful is s.th. is hided by the button. So you can move the button away for two seconds. You can hide button always in landscape, it is hiding when you are keyboard typing... it is perfect for 18:9 displays.
If navbar would have a one button control too, I wouldn't use J Touch.
You can also give it an iPhone look but ok I guess everybody is hating apple .
Edit: Ah ok you mean gesture. Sorry I didn't have this option until now.... don't know what is better
Looks like a nice app. I prefer LMT Launcher though as you can set it to do almost any task and only comes on the screen when you activate it so creates a really clean look with extra functionality.
Or you could try Gesture Control from Conena.. I'm very happy with the way the gestures work

Have you been able to use lmt with stock os? If so, I'd like to know the secret for getting rid of the nav bar
Not sure. Not really a fan of stock. From other forum members, it's possible to disable it with the joneplustool app. Both that and LMT require root.
I've been using Swipe Navigation. It even has long press functionality. Loving it so far.
That looks bat **** ugly, why don't you just download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suphi.swipenavigation&hl=en ?
In my kg g6 its eating battery like elephant ??
Xposed Edge anyone?

Any good navbar apps?

Since the nav soft keys dont have a light behind them on the 8.0 for whatever reason, im trying to find a navbar app. Only problem is that all the ones i have tried dont adjust the screen so things are hidden behind the navbar. Is there any way around that?

I mucked about with the same things, tried gestures as well. Finally gave up and learned to feel for the home button as a guide and slide left or right from it... Been good since. May not be what you want but less hassle.

Hiding The Big Stupid Navbar Android 11

Long story short, Q gestures is absolutely terrible. I use a third party app for navigation. however, EVERY single app I've ever tried seems to be unable to hide the nav bar due Google's screwery. in fact, even Fullscreen Qgestures magisk module does nothing on Ob1.
Does anyone know a definitive way to hide the stupid annoying navbar?
Google have removed the ability to over-scan the display in Android 11 (which is the trick all 3rd party apps used to hide the nav bar); so at the moment there's simply NO WAY to remove it,
I wouldn't mind the built-in gestures so much if there was the ability to turn off the "mini nav bar" which just shows a hide icon every time you use a keyboard. That's the biggest UI issue in my book, it just looks stupid!
Google needs to reverse it back to the way it was...

With magisk you can use module called Fullscreen/Immersive Gestures (Q-R).
Works great, no problems with missing toast notifications etc.
can confirm, that magisk module works perfectly. use your volume keys during install to set the settings. https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/HideNavBar
Has anyone done this to get fng working on an OP8 Pro with latest Android 11?
EDIT: Just read the github. Doesn't work with Oxygen OS.

I absolutely loathe that extra button.
But the slider at the bottom of the screen for gestures I've grown to love.
Knocking it left or right switches apps really quickly and I couldn't be without that now.

Hi,
You can either use fullscreen Gesture magisk module or you can follow this guide below-
How to remove Nav Bar in Android 11
Works perfectly on OP8 Pro with latest Android 11 update. Thanks a lot.
forum.xda-developers.com
In oxygenOS 11 you can hide the bottom space between the keyboard and gesture .... you have that option in your settings under the language and input section.... you can simply search keyboard height adjustment in setting and you'll find it
thank you
Is there a way to auto-hide the nav bar? Ex. On my old phone you could swipe up to show it or tap a dot on the left to stop it from disappearing.
Looks like the only way is to use a different launcher? I tried adding the fullscreen / immersive module but I believe that's just for the keyboard.
