Convert pro 8 from Hydrogen to Oxygen - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I bought the opo 8pro in China, and trying to convert from Hydrogen to Oxygen.
I downloaded the latest version from one plus official site
next I do local system upgrade. After reboot it seems the animation for phone starting (Red dot and 2 white circling) is just going on and on. and the phone doesn't start.
Going to recovery mode and wiping didn't help. rest system settings brought Hydrogen back.
Anyone did it successfully ?

OK, seems to be fixed.
Local upgrade, then in recovery system reset and NOT wife cache

What does this mean? After you did the local upgrade, you went into recover, then what did you do to fix the error -- you wiped cache or you did a system reset? I'm confused.

Yes a clearer step by step would be good, do we need to back up the persist file at any stage?
Not got my CN phone yet but will be going to OOS asap when i get it so would be nice if there is a better guide??

Hello,
Did you tried it ? 'Cause except for the security patch, i dont' think this update worth it, am i right ?
I think people who were in that version didn't got any update to B37x.
To my (limited) knowledge B180>B370 excluding betas.
in my case failed at 9% and I do not want to reset phone... staying at b180

Yes, the screenshot taken from my phone
@zinko_pt I got B371 update notification 1.18 GB in size.
@Ing.King really strange, i did it without any issue.
By the way guys, I just released it. It's up to you, updating or not..
We who had only B371 couldn't either update. Where and when will we get B30?

Really soo weird, I installed it at once without facing any problem.
It doesn't need a clean B180 rom because I installed it over my usual rom. It wasn't clean.
Something must be wrong in somewhere... but where?
Back here again..
No good news, tried to instal via sd, same issue, fail at 6%
But, but, but there might be a reason, i flashed the sdk21 of xposed, and idk how to remove it.. maybe this is the cause of it....
When you installed, you had to : unroot & put the recovery back ? Or you where "clean"
I'll try tomorrow, with a rest head

Oh, when I was saying "not clean" I meant installed apps and my all data
And yes, my rom was clean if we consider root and recovery condition.

Hi,
Hmmm so maybe the xposed package.rar i've flashed made this error
Well, i'll try when i receive the H8
Or maybe i had to put the recovery of B100 instead of B180 :/
Edit 1 : When i check the local.prop, there is "ro.dual.sim.phone=false" or the PLK-L01 is a dual sim, so i don't understand ^^
Edit 2 : Flash with TWRP =
MD5's missing
coming from B180 stock /rooted /xposed.....
1.) i flashed all possible partitions i had extracted (HuaweiExtractor) from B180. (system; cust; boot; recovery)
2.) reboot
3.) i flashed full rom B180 from folder dload (vol up&down&power) to be sure to get really all parts of firmware!
4.) reboot
5.) local update b190.zip from folder dload
6.) reboot
7.) i flashed twrp rc3 with fastboot to recovery partition
8.) had rooted and installed xposed now
all works as expected! Now i am on B190.
at least i had to install some modifications to system again and recover my data partition (twrp)
all in all nearly 1 hour hard work!

Hi,
In fact you just cleaned up your B180 in order to instal the 190 ?
The "real" B180
Pure stock if i could say ? Sure, it will work, but i tried to install it without getting back to stock^^
uff 1 hour to achieve upgrade... pity that I have to do factory reset to make upgrade to b190, no root no open bootloader no changes to firmware despite all this I cannot upgrade normal way... very sad, bad job honor(huawei)
because i had made a backup of my apps and data with the HUAWEI backup app (update to version from PlayStore is necessary!) recovery was easy! Had to remove some blood ware and unused apps only!
then reinstalled PMplus; managed autostart and apps they should stay on if screen is off.
reinstalled my google account
all in all a little bit more than 1 hour like i told you
now i am on b190 rooted; xposed and xprivacy activ on; and of curse Viper4Android for better sound.
real easy!

How did you update it? if you were rooted then you have to flash img files manually first before doing a three button update.

Yes, as B371 is the latest one so they will push B371 only, now there are no incrementals. But I have put up a thread here, maybe sometime later I'll post the OTAs too.

Stock Firmware for L29C567? Phone soft bricked!

I was installing TWRP and superuser and something failed. Now the phone soft resets and bounces between TWRP and Huawei eRecovery. Does anyone have a L29C567 firmware I can flash? I've done some searching and there doesn't seem to be any sources for the firmware yet. Just trying to get the phone working again.
I think I could use FunkyHuawei if they had the firmware but I don't believe they do yet.
Edit: Looks like I put this in the wrong sub forum, sorry
Please be patient. Soon enough it will be available.

When that happened to me I flashed the update_full_hw_spcseas.zip folder through dload (vol up + down + power) to get the phone booting again.
Try this guide,it will change ur region to Asia C636 but the phone will work 100%
You can rebrand later when official USA version is available.

Yes I did this last night but now I'm stuck on B110. When I tried to flash update_full_hw_spcseas.zip my update restore failed and I got stuck in the bootloop again. I was able to dload B110 again so the phone is running but not sure how to get to B136 or B138 or even B158.

I lost all the google apps and the keyboard when I tried to updated from B110 to B136 using step 7 "flash hw_data" but got it all back when with dloading back to B110.
I'm trying the updater now and it seems to be updating to B158! will update.
Update worked and I'm now on B158 which is awesome! The only thing that's odd now is that my MEID is 000000000000. I'm not sure if that's a big deal.

Step 5 to 9 is to restore the Missing application and data i recommend do this steps again.
If you have boot loop boot to stock recovery and do factory reset.

Yes. I did the following:
* Unlock bootloader
* install twrp
1- restore oeminfo for C636 http://www.mediafire.com/?szws87sk7rrkqr6
2- download c636 offline firmware, and flash it from an sd card using 3 buttons method by dload folder. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...4/post70465883
3- factory reset from settings.
4-use system update to get the latest firmware.
Basically gm007's but skipping a few steps
The end result was a seemingly complete L29C636B158.

Could be cause u skiped step 5 there is a mismatch in system files.
The update you got via system update is a small update or full firmware?

I updated to that firmware version when it came out and haven't had any issues like that.
Maybe some lint in the charge port? Or corrosion? Are you using the ASUS charger that came with the phone?
If it happened the very first time you updated to nougat and plugged in your charger, back it up and then downgrade to an earlier nougat release and see if it corrects the issue. Or just try flashing the same firmware on top, maybe it was a bad flash.

factory reset after flashing, along with wiping cache and dalvik. You should always wipe cache/dalvik after flashing, it doesn't delete your data, not factory reset and wiping data does.

try everything I mentioned above except with the first release of nougat here. After you can successfully boot up, flash the second one.
Also, did everything flash ok with no errors? I had a bad download where it would flash the zip no problem but not boot. I re-downloaded it and problem solved. Might want to test the archive first.

Well, I just got my phone back from ASUS service center. It was a hardware failure for sure and they had to replace some chip(s). I had them downgrade to Android M for me as well.
I've had this phone since Jan 2017 and it failed in Sep 2017, shortly right after upgrading to Android N. Some people had the same hardware issue with Android M as well. Let's give it a few months and see if this will pop-up again - hopefully, still under warranty.
FYI, this is my first and only USB-C device I have. Having read about nightmares about USB-C cables, I don't dare to use any other charger or cable other than the one came with the phone. My Nillkin case has a cover on the charging port - so we can rule out lint and corrosion as well.

BND-L24 Unbrick And restore Honor 7x USA

Ok guys bare with me. This is my first Thread. So it may look a little different then the others
At least Your honor 7x will no longer be a paper weight
I posted last week that I do Indeed have a good TWRP Honor 7x BND-L24 USA Variant. Since then I have been getting hammered with requests for it. So being the great guy that I am, I have come to the rescue. NO MORE PAPER WEIGHT  I have also included TWRP 3.1.1. You will Find Direct download links below.
I have heard that Huawei will be releasing the firmware by end of next week. Go to play store and download Huawei Firmware
Finder(FF) To keep checking for it. Once there you can download it through Huawei FF.
When I did the backup TWRP gave me error 255 with the data.img but it did still back it up. I have the boot.img, system.img and data.img. data.img (data.img untested but should work)
If it does not I have a post here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=75735265#post75735265 that explains how to use just the boot.img and system.img to recover your phone. IGNORE that it is for the 6x. It does indeed work with the 7x
If your phone is bricked and do not have twrp
1.Turn off phone
2. hold volume down while plugging in usb cable from your pc or laptop. That will put you in fastboot.
Tutorial here https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-root-honor-7x/ on how to download and install ADB tools.
3.. Download TWRP 3.1.1 for honor 7x here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dzP5ie7vQEn_dGfZHI383bt2sFxwtcTb
For people with TWRP installed
1. Download My TWRP backup here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Udc4thELESZ4n_nXYmx6loQtTkjHOqSy
2. Extract the zip file to your ext, sdcard.
3. Boot phone into twrp.(Bricked phones hold volume up and press power to launch twrp assuming it is installed.
4. Select restore in twrp menu then choose sd card then the backup folder.
5. Flash the boot system and data img files
6 Reboot.
NO more paper weight :good:
Oh if anyone has twrp 3.2x that works with this with 7x BND-L24 do share please
Well hope this was not to bad
Hit that thanks button. Yea that one under my post on the right
Hope this has helped
Thank you

Didn't work. I got to the "booting now" screen and was stuck there forever. I had to restore my old System and Boot partitions to get back to normal.
Didn't Work for me. goes tot the erecovery page.
Is this the only know method to get back to stock. i tried to uninstalled exposed and somehow eneded up stuck in the erecovery boot loop? very lost any help would be greatly appreciated.
Didn't work, on BND-L34 which is the same model as BND-L24 and it says your device is booting now and never boots.

sad days. do you happen to know of any other alternatives? should i made a backup in TWRP before i rooted and did anything?
This does not work. Restoring data leads to error 255 and restoring just boot and system leads to an unbootable system. Also, the link provided does not help one bit. Can you please try to explain here? Thanks.

i have an idea, maybe you can make a backup not just including the system, data, and boot but other stuff. Because I accidentally wiped everything, and I changed the vender to a10/tl10, and that bricked the phone even more. And the data img doesn't work. You can fix it with this https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/help/error-255-twrp-t3739468. If someone has a working bnd-l24 or bnd-l34 can you give me everything in the backup?

I would like to know if this is the only current available restore method for BND-L24?

Ticwatch E Chinese Version (Ticwear Version) to Android Wear 2.0

Hello Folks
I know there are people out there who have got Ticwatch E with Chinese Version Ticwear OS. Here I am posting a guide to port Android Wear 2.0 OS to Ticwatch E. Lets Go for it !!!
(This is not my work, I tried to port it for on my watch as an experiment, and successfully did it. So, I am just posting the guide.)
First of all, follow this video to take a backup of your watch !!
Link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBbTSxH1l70
Now , follow these steps as mentioned :
1. Install the SP tool and supporting drivers, you can find them here :
https://androidmtk.com/smart-phone-flash-tool
2. Open the SP tool
3. Go tot he format tab, select format whole option.
4. click on run.
5. Now turn off your watch and connect it to your PC using the charging cable.
(SP tool automatically detects the device and format it)
7. Now, remove the watch from the cable and don't try to switch it on.
8. Export data from Ticwatch2AW.zip into any folder. (Referring Post : HERE)
8. Now, load the scatter file (its in Ticwatch2AW.zip) . It will automatically map all the other files according to your device. Uncheck userdata.img and click run button.
9. Now connect your watch back to the cable, SP tool again will detect the watch and will start the flashing process.
10. after flashing remove the watch and switch it in. Initially it wiil seem like it is stuck on the AW boot logo (it keeps on animating)
11. Mine took 3-4 hours to start, so keep the watch on charging.
Does Google/Android pay work? Since chinese version has NFC.

Havn't tried yet. Plus I am from India, not sure Google play is available in India or not....
Give it a try and let people know...
Man thanks a lot for this, really saved me here. I just bought the Ticwatch E and i live in Beijing, wasn't even thinking about it shipping with anything else other than android wear. Just wanted to add that you have to add the scatter file before formatting (i used the newest version of SP flash tool), then do the format, disconnect the watch and go to download > hit the download button, connect the watch and it does the rest itself. I waited only a few minutes for Wear OS to boot, everything works and updates as usual. I was really appaled by the chinese version of the OS, even though i know some Chinese it's still bad.

Not sure. I didnt do the backup. Just posted it for safety of people who are porting the rom. Though the method worked for other people.
Thank You so much man i installed without prior backup . Although, it was risky yet it really worth it. Its boot within couple of minuets . later its updated to Oreo 8.0 . :good::good::good::good::good:

I'm having the same problem you had. The system does not start even after 8 hours. I was able to access the bootloader, but I could not access the recovery. What is the procedure to access recovery?
Thank you

Hello
When I try to upload the scatter file I get the following message:
"Boundary check failed: rom_end_addr(0xffffffff97bb756a)!
Next ROM(lk): m_begin_addr(0x0000000001ca0000)"
I cannot complete the process.
