Can someone help me root my phone? - Samsung Galaxy A20 Questions & Answers

I am currently trying to root my phone so I can get unlimited usb tethering because pdanet is not working so well with my phone, it crashes and doesn't have the same high speed data my phone has. I have a samsung galaxy a20, SM-A205U, I tried following a tutorial on rooting phones using magisk but got completely lost on downloading the usb drivers and using adb and fastboot.
Can someone please help me step by step to root my phone?

I have the same model no. (A205U) and since Sprint is an asshole, they don't allow bootloader unlocking, which means that even if you can successfully root it, you won't be able to install a custom recovery, custom rom, etc.

[Q] root samsung continuum SCH i400

I still can not find anything to work when rooting my phone i used z4 nothin superoneclick and nothin there
Anyone anything? i will donate if there is somthing that works
You can flash the super clean rom, that has root built right in..
if you don't like that idea, try the super one click found around this joint..
I just rooted this morning using superoneclick. I had some troubles getting it to stay connected to my phone. I ended up having to change the USB port to one of my rear ones directly mounted on the MoBo of my desktop. The front ones seemed to have trouble keeping connected.
DL17 on mine.

I had no problems rooting mine using SuperOneClick also.
I've got DL17.
So the superoneclick located at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
works for the Continuum?
What is DL17?
Is there a tutorial for using superoneclick anywhere? (I am an old fart)
The only reason I am interested in rooting is so I can then tether without the extra $20 a month charge and 2gb data cap. I can use my regular unlimited data plan that I already pay $30 a month for.
Thanks for any help in advance, and yes, I will donate.
Use SuperOneClick, but do it twice. The first may fail, the second will not. For some reason mine worked on the first try
Guide here: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-root-samsung-continuum-with-superoneclick/
I just successfully rooted my daughter's Continuum, and installed wireless tethering which worked FAMOUSLY thanks to this forum. Two issues:
I had to upload the apk to my website then download and run it to install it. The direction kept saying "mount the SD card". How exactly do I do that? When using USB on Windows 7 all I get is autorun options and the CDFS directory with the drivers on it.
Is there an application for USB tethering? I can charge while tethering if need be.

[Q] Nexus 4 CF-auto root issue(s)

Hello Everyone,
Just got my Nexus 4 the other day and have loved every minute spent with it. I'm trying to root it using the apparently fool-proof cf-auto root, but --despite apparent success-- have been having issues installing the fastboot drivers. Despite downloading and installing the appropriate drivers with the Nexus 4 toolkit, following all the instructions, troubleshooting a bit (switching from MTP to TPT USB mode to get those drivers as advised at the end of the toolkit instructions), I have had no luck at all with cf-auto root. The first step, where I think it says it will unlock the bootloader before the root, I get "The system cannot find the path specified." The phone is recognized and drivers have been automatically obtained from the internet exactly when they were supposed to be, according to the step by step instructions in the toolkit and the cf-auto root guide.
I really can't wait to get this thing rooted. Anyone have any idea as to what I can do? Also, what exactly do I need to uninstall/reset so that I can start the process from scratch in case that's necessary? Thanks so much everyone. Can't wait to have some actually fun questions to ask...

Can I root my Phone without a Computer?

I am at work on a work computer and it wont let me install the samsung drivers. I am on stock mf9 and i am trying to obtain root via CF auto root. I downloaded mobile odin pro but it wont let me open it due to not having root already lol. Does anyone have any suggestions to try and get my phone rooted from my phone?
As you already noted the tools that would allow you to do the necessary things on your phone require root to work. You are going to have to root using a computer that you have admin privileges on.

Rooting without computer?

Hi my computer has died. MY boot is unlocked. In the past I've rooted galaxy phones without a computer, using a file app. Is it possible to finish my N4 this way? I'd hate to buy a new laptop just to root one phone
Sent by mobile telephone.
U dont need to buy a new one, just use one of ur friends, thats the easiest way.
A lot of the older phones needed to be rooted using an exploit, and thus people made applications that could root it from within the system. Since the Nexus phones are so easy to root without any exploits, all of the toolkits that are created are just using the ADB and Fastboot commands to flash a custom recovery and root the phone.
If you were rooted but didn't have a custom recovery, that would be simple to fix. If you had a custom recovery and needed root, that would be simple to fix. But with neither, I think you're going to need a computer.
You need a computer, OR another device that supports OTG and has a fastboot binary installed.

Actually, I think there's a kernel somewhere here that you can flash and it will root the device simultaneously. I'll try to look for it and see if it's something you can use. Cheers.

That's not the problem... the problem here would be flashing the kernel.

[Q] Did the Guide Phone still NOT rooted

Hello everybody,
I am pretty new to android, always had iPhone before, and JB was very easy for me.
Now I am trying something new I got a S4 from "ATT", it was already unlocked when I got it. Using H2O as a provider.
Reason for me want to root my phone is so I can screen record on my phone and need root permission.
My Current firmware version: PDA:MK2 / PHONE:MK2 / CSC:MK2 (ATT)
I really don't know where to start about this rooting, I tried to fallow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283918 and http://androidtechy.com/index.php/2013-04-28-19-55-53/how-to-diy/48
How to root:
Download root explorer or EsFile Explorer
Download the Root Exploit Here by XDA Developer djrbliss
Download the GS4 Drivers here
Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
Connect your device to your PC via USB.
If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute "run.bat". If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute "./run.sh".
Approve the ADB connection from your PC on your device.
Reboot and check if you have root using the Root Checker app from the PlayStore
Note: If you dont have root the first time, go back to step 5 and try again.
I've been doing that but ROOT CHECKER still says that I don't have root. (Tried run.bat) 3 times. said I already have Root.apk on my phone.
Is this the only way to root my phone, or is there a newer way since those guides are from 2013.
That's why you should stick to guides here and not some random online guide. Search up easy Root and be done

H2O runs on AT&Ts network, so it runs just fine on a sim locked AT&T phone. I wonder if the OP thinks the phone is unlocked because of that? The best way to find out is to put a Tmobile sim in it.
