Best ROM for LeEco/Coolpad Cool1 - Coolpad Cool1 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone. I bought this phone for 10$ which was hardbricked and I have succesfully unbricked it and know I have a few questions:
1. First, I tried several Custom ROMs based on Android 9 or Android 10, and also installed GCAM and I can not see option for taking bokeh photos (photos with blured background). So my question is bokeh photos only available in EUI (Android 6.0) based ROMs? Is there any way to use this feature on Custom ROMs based on Android 9/10?
2. Second, in your opinion, which is the best EUI ROM in terms of battery life, camera and heating?
3. Third, in your opinion which is the best Custom ROM for Cool1 (crDroid, PixelExperience, LineageOS, etc.)?
4. And finally, can I use GCAM on other Custom ROMs based on Android 9/10 (crDroid, LineageOS, SuperiorOS, etc.) or it must be PixelExperience?
Thanks in advance!

Hi ,
SLR/monochrome mode only works on Eui and Jui stock camera app.You need to be on Eui or Jui rom if you want SLR/monochrome feature.
Best Eui rom ,IMO, is LeRee Le3 (russian Cool1) rom.
No china bloatware , comes with Google playstore prebuilt.

Redmi 2 'starter pack'. Some questions from a new owner

Hi!
Well, its my first thread in the Redmi 2 section. I'm quite experienced with other devices (Moto G, E, Zenfone 2), but its my first Xiaomi device (well, isnt exactly 'mine'. It belongs to my girlfriend) and I have some doubts.
Firstly: The stock firmware is based in KK. Is there an official MIUI based on LP or MM? If yes, is the memory management ****ty like the Moto's? (yeah, Moto's LP and MM was terrible for 1GB RAM devices)
Secondly: For the most updated stock ROM, is there a good custom kernel? Is there need to unlock bootloader or anything else?
Thirdly: Is root easy?
And most important:
Is there advantages to use custom ROMs like CM on this device? Will I miss some features? (camera quality - like Xperia devices)
Hi! It seems to have root out of the box, there is a system app called Security, and it lets you manage root permissions. For your other questions, I don't know. One important thing with this mobile: if you are using GPS in the background (like measuring distance of a trip) there is a setting to protect the battery that cuts GPS and background data off by default after x minutes. This took me some time to figure out, and it's turned on by default on my phone, and it was quite annoying... You can find this option in the battery settings, and can add exceptions or disable it entirely, but still...

Hey @Dan_Jacques,
So I'm relatively new to it myself (only had it for about a month), but have been heavily playing with it ever since. Here's what I've learned so far:
There's no official "stable" LP or MM MIUI ROM for the Redmi 2, but you can find official "developer" ROMs here. Keep in mind you have to find out your variation and see whether yours is a "Prime/Pro" or regular Redmi 2, and choose the ROM accordingly. The Prime/Pro dev ROMs are 5.1 (LP) based. Not clear whether the Prime/Pro ROMs work on regular Redmi 2.
You can also find the latest MIUI 8 developer ROMs on this thread from Xiaomi.eu.
I got sick of MIUI after giving it a good go, and have been happily running on official CyanogenMod 13 Nightlies for a couple of weeks now. Here's the XDA thread with setup instructions, and the one for the ROM development, so you can keep tabs on it.
I have it setup with OpenGapps ARM - 6.0 - Super, customized with my own config file.
I'm still not clear [conflicting reports], but I believe 5.1 (LP) based ROMs lock your bootloader, which then has to be unlocked by Xiaomi (from this page) before you can flash a custom ROM. This has been my experience, and it's possible I'm misunderstanding something, but it was easily solved by re-flashing one of the stable 4.4 (KK) based MIUI ROMs through Fastboot (which also re-flashes the bootloader), and custom ROMs/recovery utilities flashed smoothly then.
Good luck!
Since it seems You've been Answered , I would like to add few Points , Yes Redmi 2 (prime variant) has Got LP based ROM officially , Known As MIUI 8 , which is Coming out On 16th August for Everyone [Global Stable] , whereas if you're interested you can Try Out the China Dev , and Global Dev Roms that are already available ,
Note : Redmi 2 have KitKat Based MIUI 8 , but Prime's MIUI 8 (based on LP ) can also be used ..
And We have Several Official MM as ROM , CM 13 and RR being most Notable ones ..

Thanks a lot!
After 28 days waiting for my postal service, the phone arrived yesterday. (yeah, the Brazil's postal service is a crap). My device is the 2014819 model (appears to be a 2014811 variant)
After some hours, flashed TWRP 3.0 and MIUI8 KK based custom rom with root (available here: http://forum.miuirom.com.br/index.php?threads/rom-miui-8-miui-brasil-e-miui-global-6-7-21.506/ )
The phone is snappier than Moto G 2nd Gen (MM). Much snappier! And considering the specs (similar processor, same RAM, worse filesystem - Moto uses F2FS, Xiaomi ext4), the performance difference was greater than expected. Congrats, Xiaomi.
@minusfive and @rootmaster I found intersting the different 'base' of MIUI. We has KK, LP and MM (depending the device) base for MIUI8. Obviously I had the doubt: LP MIUI8 ROM is hunger for RAM like other device ones? For who that upgraded from kitkat, are the pros greater than the cons? (again talking about Moto G: the kitkat stock ROM was blazing flash, LP and MM are slow, with a terrible RAM management). I'm intersted with the [ROM][Official MiUi8 Lollipop 5.1.1][WT86047-WT88047] THUNDER_MiUi8-6.6.30 and the Jerrica kernel before try CM. Is it a good idea?

You're right, except for the last point. The bootloader does NOT get locked on LP based MIUI ROMs. Redmi 2 bootloader is always unlocked.

Honest Review of OnePlus X Custom ROMs

Hello everybody, just wanted to share my honest review of using custom ROMs on OnePlus X and below are my reviews of a few ROMs :-
1. AOSP_JDC Team: The battery backup and performance are good, and there is no lag. The ROM is stable and fluid.
2. AOSP Oreo 8.1: As usual the performance is good, battery backup is ok and there is no lag.
3. Lineage OS 15.1: Seriously I had a very bad experience with this ROM. When I flashed it there were no issues, the battery backup was excellent but suddenly after half an hour the message kept popping up "android.process.acore keeps stopping", I also flashed the latest build not of any use.
4. Resurrection Remix 5.8.3: This ROM is also good but for me there was Data Connection error.
Currently I'm back on Stock ROM. Its not 100% stock because I modified the stock rom by rooting and using magisk modules. I also flashed Viper4Arise_Sony_Stock_Edition to increase the sound quality.
I'm happy on my modified stock rom. Currently not planning to flash any custom rom. :good:

Best rom - help

Hello, I have in my phone the miui 9.6 by Xiaomi.eu 8.4 .26, but I need to change because I have problems. I need a rom better for photos, and other things. Can anyone tell me a good rom?
Thanks
Go for latest Oreo roms. Use gcam for better photos.
Love this one ---> [ROM]-[Official]-[17.08.18]-Havoc-OS-[8.1.0]-[Markw]

J5 2016 ROM recommendations (8.1)

Hello, I own a Moto G4 Plus that I have tested various ROMs on and have had experiences with flashing ROMs on Samsung devices, so a friend of mine asked if I could help him out too. So how stable are the Oreo ROMs? Would there be one that could be called the "best" one? Would it be worth for him to switch to a custom ROM or should he stay on the stock one?
Oreo ROMs are very good the best for me are LineageOS and Resurrection Remix OS
Just my personal experience but...I´m yet to see a Custom Rom for J5 2016 that matches Stock Rom. Used all of them from Lineage to Dot OS and although they are pretty stable, performance is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes the phone works like a rocket and sometimes you nedd to reboot it to make it usable again. I have kids and take a lot of photos, so the shutter lag in custom roms is a great con, for me.
This may vary from user to user, which GApps you use, which apps you use, so I would give it a try anyway. From the ones I used, Lineage is by far the best.

OnePlus Camera (stock) on custom rom

Hi, can I use the stock camera on custom roms like LineageOS and Paranoid Android?
I tried it on Lineage a while ago by backing it up from OxygenOS but it just crashed.

Apparently it's not quite straight forward as just an APK.
Otherwise every ROM would have it installed.
If you're currently on a custom ROM give pro camera x or fv camera a try, they were the best I could find. Eventually I went back to OOS as it's simply superior to GCam, regardless what people say about GCam it just isn't as good and nowhere near as stable
