New updates 11.0.7.0 are available - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

A new update is coming to my Note 7 today.
It is 1.9gb
Is it android 10?
What is new?
- Android security patch February 2020
- App lock for all apps
Does it need 1.9 GB?

I've got mine one week ago and it was just 200MB. The thing i've noticed is that the 48mpx camera is fixed.

Why so large? Is it android 10? I got the notification, but don't want to update just yet.

No, it's just an update with February security patch. I guess this is not just an incremental OTA, but the whole ROM, that's why it is so heavy. I've installed it and I haven't noticed any new bugs.

Best ROM for non-techsavvy individual?

I passed down my Nexus 10 to my father a few months ago, and the current ROM has got some corruption and so I'd like to flash something else.
He's essentially not techsavvy at all. I'm just looking for something rather stable for the moment that's moderately up to date for security reasons.
Once LineageOS starts building snapshots for the Nexus 10 I'll regularly update that with OTAs.
Any suggestions?
If you are ging for security a nougat rom is the best since it has the january security Update. But if you need a fully working rom you should Go for marshmallow. In this case the Last cm Release is fine. But it has only the december security Update in it.

Any idea where official cm13 is hosted/archived? I'll take your suggestion and install the last stable build of it. Then update his tablet to lineage once their stable builds start.

BLU R1 HD Update V. 9.2

Hello, I just got the notification to update my Blu R1 HD, the version of the update is v 9.2.
Someone already updated? is stable?
Thank you
Yes it's stable, no changes except the April 2018 Android Security Updates.
I'm very surprised Blu is still sending out updates for this almost 2 year old device, that's better then some major brands!

Don't give them too much credit. They are just attempting to make up for the numerous security debacles that they had with most of their phones in 2016 and 2017. Plus the security update is from Google, not Blu.
Blu likely only pushed the update to stay on good terms with the FCC. Who recently put Bans on Huawei, and ZTE. Why else would they update a two yr old phone, when they cannot provide promised nougat updates for several phones.
They are not reputable, they published marketing literature, made claims on social media sites, and in interviews where they promised nougat updates for phones released in 2017 that came with Android 6.0
A year later no updates.
I understand that Miui 9 can be installed on this phone. If I can figure it out I will share the files here.
Will there be a modified version of 9.2 for people with rooted phones?
Thanks!

I guess I am not stock since I am rooted and running xposed and removed ads.
So am I correct that to apply this update I should re-flash your 9.0 full ROM and then run your updater script before installing su and xposed and running the commands to delete the ads?
Thanks!

Yes. Look at the last couple post on the modified stock romntjread. Confirmed installs of the patch from stock v9. They went the long way and "de-bloated, un-rooted, etc".
Re flash v9 then the patch should be fine.
8 still need to edit the first post over on that thread to add this patch.

I guess it's rather Amazon than Blu, since there are no updates for the retail ("non-prime") version...

You can buy a LeEco S3 for $89 it has 3gb ram,Snapdragon 652 ( 8 core processor) 32gb hard drive, 1080*1920 resolution, 3000mah battery and about 30 working custom Roms. We have 4 leecos in our house 2 LePro 3s and 2 Se3s.
I just sold one of my Blu R1s for $50, almost pays for an SE3. Blu should embrace the developing community and release the source code to these phones, imagine the respect they would get.

Hi, I don't know how to update my stock R1 HD, I had only updated it from the same cell phone to version 8.4 but it only indicates that there are no more updates available, how then can I put this version 9.2? thanks

February updates are live

Updates are live, installing on Pixel XL, but zero information about the fixes or improvements on Google Bulletin. It says no Pixel security fixes this time included, no information about new features or other fixes too. So only general Android security fixes this time I guess.
Announcements
There are no Pixel security patches in the February 2019 Pixel Update Bulletin.
Functional patches
All Pixel devices running Android 9 will receive an Android 9 update as part of the February OTA. This quarterly release contains many functional updates and improvements to various parts of the Android platform and supported Pixel devices.
Does anyone already received the OTA ?

I manually installed on Monday afternoon. All went well. Flashed factory images (retained data). Booted TWRP to flash Magisk. Only nuance was that new version of Magisk was released at about the same time, so had to play around with that for a bit. Standard monthly upgrade. No surprises. All seems to be running well.
I'm on magisk but I haven't receive the OTA even when pushing the button. With magisk shouldn't I still get the notification (manual or not) ?? I know that installing it with magisk is a whole different thing... I always install full otas manually via twrp, but I would like to install a ota with the magisk method... too much time consuming when doing via twrp

Strange: System is up to date - Android 8.1.0!

I realized that my A1 did not ask me to update for a couple of weeks, maybe even 2 months.
As was busy, it did not bother me ...
When checking for updates now, I see:
Your System is up to date
Android 8.1.0,
Security Patch level: 5 January 2019
Any I idea why I am no longer offered to update?

It could be because of any modifications made to your device, however you can still flash new Android 9 (Pie) with Miflash. Many people also say it is better to stay on Oreo because of stability and camera quality.
Another solution to get Pie update is to use VPN and clear data of some applications (I don't remember which ones).
That's the reason (cmaera, xposed ..) I decided to stay with Android 8.1.
Besides Magisk there are no modifications ...
Thanks!
That's wierd. The last Oreo version for Mi A1 is on November security patch.
Well, in any case, would be enough with cleaning "Google Play Services' cache.
All times I got a delay in software updates from Xiaomi for MiA1, this solved the problem (happened to me twice).
Just to be clear, this isn't related to Google Play apps.

Did you restarted device after that?
You remind me that I had to reboot after cleaning GP Services, then searched for update manually. I forgot to mention that, my fault.
If that doesn't solve your problem, I feel this is related to a completely different reason. Just in case, check time and date/location to be set by provider instead of manual.
However, the procedure I recommended to you usually works and I found it in another thread around here, perhaps there are other methods to reach software update correctly.

Even GP-Services Clear Data and reboot does not change anything!
In general the phone is working fine ...
After all you have done I have to ask you this: are you sure you are holding a Mi A1? Because the January 2019 security patch comes with Pie not Oreo, the last patch for Oreo is on November 5 2018.

Yes! I am talking about my Xiaomi A1.
The Build Number is: OPM1.171019.026.V9.6.8.0.ODHMIFE and
the Android Security Patch level: 5 January 2019
I am aware that it does not match ...
The last update I did was on Jan 10th, using XiaomiFlash.

Whoah, that's strange. In your case I would make a clean flash of stock oreo ROM and it should fix it.

Maybe something has altered the security patch date and cause the update engine to go haywire, because that build number is definitely from the November security patch.
Agreed, a clean flash with should fix it .
Not sure if Oreo or Pie is better for me (camera, xposed, tasker ...)
Still it remains a mystery what happened ...

If youre talking about stock experience - Oreo is better, but I tried Gcam on stock Pie and got incredible results. Also installed Magisk with one module which enables 1080p 60 FPS.
Which camera for PIE are you using? Does it support all the 3 lenses?
Currently I am using https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Final_fu24-18d1.apk. which supports all 3 ...

Another New Update CPH1919EX_11_C.32

November Security patch nothing else
Camera is improve not only November patch, I feel the difference
Global Version? Can someone post a link? C.30 was the same as C.28 in Swiss. Is the theme store included in this update? I miss it since 7.1.
