Android System - Excessive Battery consumption on MIUI 11.0.4 - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Hello all,
Maybe somebody can help me here.
I've recently updated my device into the MIUI 11.0.4.0 (QFJEUXM) rom . Official OTA update by Xiaomi,
I've noticed an increase in battery consumption ( mainly caused by android system app around 25%).
Somebody with similar issue ? is there a way to rollback safely into a previous version ? My previous version 11.0.3.0 was working just fine... I'm actually regretting having updated my phone.
Kudos!

Yes, many users have the same problem, including me.

Well, I feel my Mi9T has strange battery consumption through all the roms.
I'm now on custom rom with 11.0.4 vendor. Some times it uses more than 1%/h while deep dozing.
Screen on time is estimated to be around 8h, is this too short?

I'm getting sick of the android system drain. Does anyone know if xiaomi.eu rom any better? Is it worth flashing?

Yeah.. flashed 20.2.27 and got 2.6% drain per each hour tonight, in deep sleep... - 21% per night.
Cell standby 530 mAh.

1. Unlock Developer Mode
Settings > About phone > tap (many times) on MIUI version until you've a message "You are developers!"
2. Turn off MIUI optimization
Settings > Additional settings > Developer options > Turn on Developer options (if it's not) > scroll down to the last page and Turn off MIUI optimization
it's work for me!

[Q] Huge Battery Drain

Hi,
since a week or so my u8800 suffers from a huge battery drain.
Today i just got 10hours out of it and almost did nothing. (4min. phone call/ 10messages/ max. 10min surfing)
The last 10% of battery was gone in 30 seconds.
It all started last week when my phone was on stock 2.2. Then i updated to the latest stock 2.3.5, but still the same problem.
Model number : u8800
Android version : 2.3.5
base band version : 404020
Kernel version : 2.6.35.7-perf [email protected]#1
Build number : U8800V100R001C00B528G001
I also wanted to calibrate the battery, but i can't root the phone. Tried every program out there
Anyone got the same problem or has a solution ?
Hello Kawadude,
I use superoneklick and it works fine to root the device. Hier ist the how to, what you must do before use superonklick:
- Dial * # * # 2846579 # * # *
- Go to projectmenu, background settings, log settings, log switch and set Log on
- Reboot phone
- Set USB debugging on
- Run superonklick http://depositfiles.com/files/n0dcxce3t or http://shortfuse.org/
Hope it helps
Already tried that without a result.
I also tried DooMLoRD v4, Unlock Root and One-click Root.
Since i installed the official 2.3.5 i can't root my device annymore. On stock 2.2 this wasn't a problem.
Hello, do you keep wi fi enabled at all times? i noticed my battery drains increased greatly when i leave my wifi on 24/7
No, wifi is only enabled when I'm at home.
A couple of weeks ago the battery life was just fine. (With the same usage)

Close any application in your pc that might try to connect with an android device (like huawei's or Asus PC Sync, etc). Those applications use the adb driver and block superoneclick. Check if windows recognize your device and install it properly. Hum... That's all I can think of... ;-)

8. Run B528_root.bat
9. Your phone should now be Rooted.

Try this. I did hear that this last release from huawei (B528) couldn't be/was really hard to get rooted. I haven't tried this, just found it. Credit to @Igory0k.

You have to do it, rooting apps need that option
And launcher apps etc. don't install them, your battery won't drain Uninstall unnecessary apps too

Zui Battery Graph missing?

Hi all
I just bought the phone today and I cannot find any battery consumption graph in the setting??
I am using zui.
In developeroptions beginning with zui version 1.6.xxx is the batterygraph
I dont get your point
Settings -> about -> click serveral times on "ZUI Version" -> developeroptions activated
Now go to: settings -> advanced settings -> developer options ... There you find the battery graph (if you have ZUI Version 1.6.xxx or higher)
I am on ZUI 1.0.050
Any methods??

I guess you bought this phone on Oppomart ?
I recommend to reflash your rom (http://zukfans.eu/).. Otherwise you can't get the lastest version which is 1.9.077

We don't even get a damn battery graph. For those of us who micro-manage our phones, ZUI is a disaster.

To be fair, there is such a graph, but you have to activate the Developer Settings.
Then: Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Developer Options -> History details.

So does this mean if I flash zukfans eu ROM "ZUK Z2 Stable ROM 1.9.044", I will have not crashing menus nor the "play store cannot download any apps" issue?
This would be great, at least.. until a real ROM is out..

[Q] NFC doesn't work on Oreo 8.1

The NFC function lost after upgrating to Stock Oreo 8.1.0, while it works well on 7.1 all the time.
I confirm that I turned on the NFC botton in the settings menue, but the NFC didn't work.
I have unlocked the critical partitions before flashing, also tried OTA, but the NFC doesn't work at ANY TIME.
Anyone can help me? Thanks so much...
It works fine on 8.1 for me but I never unlocked anything. Normally the best thing to do would be to factory reset your phone and choose the start fresh option in the setup menu instead of restoring from a Google backup. Problems after a big update like Nougat to Oreo aren't uncommon and are nearly always fixable by doing a factory reset correctly (fresh start). But since you modded your phone something else might be going on.

Works fine for me.
I am rooted 8.1, Magisk, ElementalX.
I don't have any issues with it and I'm stock 8.1 unrooted.
I have tried third party Oreo 8.1, the NFC works fine.
Only failed on Stock Oreo 8.1.
I tried another time to do a new flashing with Back_to_Stock package 8.1, when flashing system_a.img and system_b.img, it showed a message " Invalid sparse file format at header magic", and after that, it began to flash the system image normally. But as usual, the NFC didn't work.
-----------
Anything related to the mistake? Thanks.

i've got the same issue. nfc doesn't recognize any card or device whilst it is activated in settings and nfc test app says anything is fine.
i'm using android pie but it was the same on oreo. my bootloader is fully unlocked. i always update via back-to-stock and fastboot.

I am running stock 8.1 and NFC didn't seem to work for me either until I touched a tag to the lower portion of the back and it fired. I was used to the sensor in previous phones being in the middle or toward the top. It would not work until it was in the lower 20% of the back side.
Don't know if it will be the same for you, but here's hoping.
yes, it was the same for me. i realized it just a few minutes after my post but didn't find it then. so i couldn't delete it.
I've been fighting to get mine to work, so far nothing. I contacted Essential tech support and they had me clear the cache and showed where the NFC sensor is (bottom part of the phone on the back). I tried using Android Beam to send/receive URL's with my old phone (confirmed that it can send/receive through Android Beam). Nothing is working. Debating whether or not to return the phone and get something else. Any help would be appreciated.
Here's what tech support sent me:
As a verification step, confirm that you're using the correct area of the phone for NFC. Unlike most smartphones, the Essential Phone's NFC chip is located on the bottom of the device.
If you are aware of the NFC position, to isolate the issue further and determine the best way to resolve this, I'd like you to try a few steps.
Ensure that NFC is enabled in settings. (Settings > Connected Devices > Connected Preferences > NFC)
Ensure that Google Pay is the default Tap & pay sevice (Settings > Apps & notifications > Advanced > Default apps > Tap & pay > Payment default > select the desired payment app)
Clear the cache in the NFC Service and reboot the device. (Settings > Apps & Notifications > See all apps > Three dots in the top right > Show System > NFC Service > Storage > Clear Cache)
Attempt to use the NFC service with another app or service like Android Beam (Settings > Connected Devices > Android Beam)
Chiming into this thread - NFC doesn't even show up for me in Connected Devices, on Android 9.
Look under connection preferences in connected devices

I don't have NFC or android beam in my preferences window.
Ok, what do you have?
Edit: just noticed it's you in two threads
Finally got mine resolved. Received a new phone under warranty yesterday. Confirmed that NFC works.

Improving battery life on MIUI 12

For everyone having battery issues with MIUI 12 and don't want to make a clean reinstall or unlock your bootloader, try this things out:
Previously, activate debug options (click multiple times Miui version on "settings"-"about phone"), search for it (under "settings" - "additional settings") and enable usb debugging (under "developer options", activate "developer options" and "usb debugging"), after that, connect with your usb cable to PC (check that you have adb properly installed on your PC:https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/ and https://www.xda-developers.com/adb-fastboot-any-directory-windows-linux/, then run the following commands on a cmd window:
1. using adb, disable system traceur
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user com.android.traceur
2. make an apps optimization
Code:
adb shell cmd package bg-dexopt-job
Depends on how many apps do you have installed on your system, this probably takes between 30sec~45mins. Your system isn't stuck...
I had battery problems as well but this two things improve a lot my experience, just check my actual graphs
Now i have this insane battery backup in my device running miui 12 global
Edit 7/08 - I will answer some questions about this thread:
1. The first command will disable Android system for recording logs. It's safe if you don't need to make debugging on your phone.
2. The second command will make an apps optimization from ART cache. Sometimes, when you update or upgrade your system, apps doesn't optimize themselves, generating more consume of system resources including battery.
3. However, this last command isn't needed to be performed if you doesn't have a bad battery life behavior when you update your system but I recommend that you make it everytime after your phone get an update.
4. This will work no matter if you have a non-rooted locked bootloader device.
Hope this help you guys!

Well, it's seems that my stock battery statistics isn't working well or at least, as supposed to be. My last battery cycle was about 36hrs from 100% to 15% with 11 hrs SOT average but in my stock battery stats only shows 18hrs with 4:45 SOT. i had installed 3c battery monitor as well but some times wasn't properly registered because miui aggresive closing app in background.
Anyway, last charging to 100% was at 28/07 9:35pm to 15% at 30/07 9:30am. That's meaning one day an a half with 15% left to spare.... surely, almost two days of 100% to 0%.
