does anyone have any problem with SOUND.
Wen I film in cinema or normal mode. Mic wind noise off or ON. it generates some artificial noise. even if it is quite or loud. I just can not get rid off it. (it sounds like there is air-condition in front or rear of the phone)
Any IDEA?

I have the same issues I was unsure if I had a defective unit, Never had such issue with previous phones.

This is a joke phone. what a SH**
I need HELP. the phone is 1200 eur and I can not use a movie that I film my daughter on PIANO.
In there youtube sony clips it says, the best professional sound with bla bla bla... Unbelievable. Now I know why Sony is below everyone.

The same problem is in Note 10+

Try turning off Dolby Atmos in your audio settings. At least for playback on the phone it nearly eliminates the buzzing.

Still pretty audible here, I'll go for a return. Thanks for the help

Try to play with the mic level in Cinema Pro.

I've had this phone for a few weeks now.
I'm fairly happy with the cameras for still photos - but video is something of a disappointment.
The "cinema pro" app does not actually give you a great level of control. A major issue is that it restricts you to one, wide format aspect ratio. You can't use it to film in 16:9.
It allows you to fiddle with things like ISO, shutter speed and framerate a little bit - but doesn't give you access to the full range that's possible. I wanted to experiment with using 15fps, for example, or choosing to crank the ISO right up to get maximum low light info whilst knowingly accepting a high level of noise. It won't let you do either of these things. Finally, it won't shoot in H264 at all.
Various third party camera apps allow you quite a lot of access to manual control - however, having tested out quite a few of them quite a bit (including filmic pro), they all have problems crashing or producing unusable jerky video.
In the end, unless the predetermined aspect ratio in the Cinema Pro app happens to be what you want to use all the time, you are pretty much stuck using the standard stock camera app, which doesn't offer you anything more than other Xperia phones.

Took my phone to a 2 day long concert, here's what I liked

After 12 hours a day and recording almost 100 videos on the highest setting the phone battery never went down past 50% (each day mind you). The phone was starting to get warm about mid way through the day, not sure if it was the sun beating down on my pants (I was in Jacksonville, FL) or due to the constant recording, but it never got extremely hot.
I took some videos zoomed in max at 8x and the quality is honestly not bad. Definitely not HD quality but you can see quite well what you're looking at.
The audio came out better than any other I've seen or heard from others who were with me, two being S7 Edges, and another an iPhone 7 plus.
The stability when zoomed in 8x was also amazing to me. I could walk around someone who got in the way and it looked like I was barely moving, definitely didn't seem as if I were holding my phone in the air.
The way it picks up light was also better than any other phone I was able to compare with. When the later bands played in the dark I could still see so much detail and wasn't flushed out by either low light or having the stage lights drown out what my camera could see.
Definitely impressed and glad I had this phone with me for this event. Not professional quality but amazing nonetheless, so I figured I'd share with others my experience. I'm willing to answer any questions to anything I may have forgotten to give better details for. I don't really use my YouTube account to upload videos but if need be I could upload a few for those who are curious.
Is there a chance you could share some video samples of what you got?
I haven't had a chance to take my S8+ to a concert yet.
Does the zoom still severely distort the audio?
On the Note 7, audio zoom was enabled by default. It's a good idea, say if you're recording someone talking across the room and when you zoom in it increases the mic gain so you (may) hear them.
Problem is at a gig either on stage or front row with stacks of amps and columns ripping at 120dB and you decide to zoom in the audio distorts horribly. Like makes you want to stab your eyes out with a fork horrible! And there is no way to disable it. The solution is to not use zoom but when recording at 4K using up to 4X optical zoom is generally OK if you re-render your edits at 1080. Fortunately the gigs I did this with I was using a digital recorder and have decent audio tracks to go with the video. Otherwise I'd be screwed. I have not tried recording with mine yet but I may bring it to drum rehearsal and kick things up a bit and zoom in on the kit.

I have the videos up on my Facebook if you guys would like to check it out that way. Just drop me a PM and I'll give you my info through that.
Not too sure about the audio and zoom feature. Didn't even know that existed to be honest. I will say that there are a few I started out with no zoom and I zoomed in during the video but I don't think I really noticed a difference in audio quality. I'm not the pickiest when it comes to stuff like that and none of it is Hollywood material but still impressed nonetheless.
Ok been a while but I finally got to test this and can confirm the audio zoom "feature" is definitely still there! :|
So when recording events such as live venues with loud SPL particularly lower frequencies do NOT use the zoom if at all possible.
Your audio will be very distorted.
Otherwise, it shoots fine.

Auto focus is amazing, dynamic range is also good. Slow motion looks phenomenal. It is stable if you have good enough hands
Here are some things that are disappointing me a lot:
1) only the stock camera is capable to use the OZO audio system.
2) Much worse, the port of GCam I am using will not even record a decent mono audio track - - the volume is too low and there is some noise.
3) Stock camera at 1080p has an audio/video out of sync problem. Not much, but it's annoying. GCam doesn't have this issue.
4) Not directly related to video: there is no stock audio recording app being able to use the OZO audio system. Stereo recording with other apps produces artifacts and it's not usable.
One of the reasons I bought this phone was the 3 mics and the advanced audio system, but so far I am not happy with it. I really hope Nokia will address these issues in future updates.
I don't like the 1080p because it's very cropped in (due to EIS). 4k looks very shaky if you don't concentrate on holding your hands very still. Filming while moving looks very jittery. Quality of both video and audio is great though.
For my quality is not good, it have a lot of noise and the EIS is the worst that i have ever seen. Even the gcam EIS makes the videos barely unusable if you are moving. Not even talk about low ligth. My moto x style from 3 yearos ago is at least 10 times better. I am really dissapointed with this thing of the phone.
EIS in 1080p mode is forced and no way of turning it off (Stock cam app)
awesome
video quality is pretty good

Good stabilisation and auto focus, not much more to say
4k video awful. Stutters and judders whenever you move. FHD+ not much better. Quality is also not sharp. A massive let down here.
Video quality not good terrible jittering ,i expecting more from this expensive phone
price asked has nothing to do with quality there are 200$ phones with crisp 4k video on the market

I got exact same feelings. The video quality is a bad joke...
Keeping my fingers crossed for a software update soon!
I spend a good hour at huawei booth and just couldn't get an explanation why there were jitters and dropped frames at 60 fps especially when panning. Also, 4k had few dropped frames and jitters but there was some sort of warping/bending at the sides of the screen. Again , no explanation.
So wanted to get this phone and am hoping someone has some answers why (perhaps it's ok when exported to pc?) or maybe some setting i'm not aware of?
Same here. Video quality suck and it always want to brighten the video when shot in a sligthly dark room. Hopefully there will be a fix but meanwhile snapchat app actually records better video than the default huawei app... Thats kind of embarrassing for huawei. It seems to be a sofwareissue.
Do anyone know any good external camera app to use?
Any one have the same problem like me.
No sound when making a video. When I restart the phone than sound comes back , but after a few more videos no more. I have now library of movies with no sound.

I'm using Cinema FV5, it's having a lot of manual settings, so I was able to shoot a video which looks quite more natural in low light.
Gesendet von meinem LYA-L29 mit Tapatalk
I am not happy with video recording, pro mode options are limited and there's no dynamic control option i.e., you can't change settings while recording video other than zoom and focus. lot of pixel dropping in 4K, stabilization is good though, 146 has tweaked it well. another thing i noticed is long exposure shots with ISO 50 are giving lots of white dots or burnt pixels which are spoiling the photo shots. this means camera photo-detectors are not well ventilated for heat dissipation. also some of the features that Huawei boasted about such as cinematic mode are useless, low light videos are horrible...
only photo quality is good.
Slow mo
Hey guys, second post around... I've been testing super slow mo (960 fps) but the quality is a bit rubbish, the lense is the same as far as i know, and at 120 fps it takes good video, despite blurring everything at 0.6x... Do you have the same problem? Is there something I'm missing about slow motion video? Thanks!
Slow Motion is far better in Note 9. Big disappoint on Video recording on M20 Pro
Photos are great, Videos recorded are worse than $200 phone

I feel the same.
But both on Note 9 and Mate 20 Pro, the lack of manual focus on slow motion is sad. I lose lots and lots of opportunity for nice slowmo videos because they are out of focus (e.g., looking out the winodow of a moving train when entering the station). Simply being able to lock the focus would make it awesome.
4K video works fine for me
As long as you move smoothly the video is very nice as long as you are outside in good light. But first remember to use "performance mode". This is very important! Of corse the stabilization is not as good as in full HD;
4k30fps is not the way to go for smooth footage with any movement involved, let's hope the market still cares about Huawei in 2k20 until kirin 990 comes along

If you shoot video a lot, download Filmic Pro. It gives you full control on the camera. You'll be able to lock the focus and the exposure. Keep in mind that shooting 960fps video requires lots of lighting otherwise blur effect. The S9 has the same "issue". It is not an issue in fact it's just how it goes even for professional. Slow motion with bad lighting is a bad idea. Hope it helps

It depends a lot on what you shoot. and what texture you are looking for in your final footage. For more cinematic videos many will recommend 24fps. For slow motion high framerate. Shooting in 60fps you'll get a texture close to "real life". Hope it helps
How's the effect compared with iPhone and Samsung?

Video recording in Iphone XSMax are gorgeous, better than Mate 20 Pro period. For Samsung S10 I don't know but my guess is that they are both better than Mate 20 Pro. Mate 20 Pro just do the work
the video recording quality is quite the disaster. i hope it is fixed in an update some point soon. i'm pretty sure my zte a7 has better video quality....sadly...

My Short-ish Review of the XA2

So Ive had my XA2 for 4 days now.. and Ive got to say.. for a £200 phone (I paid), its pretty darn good...
I love the XZ3 style curved edged screen and the slightly curved back, and... even though the back plate is plastic.. it has a nice weighty feeling in the hand, it doesn't feel like a sub-£300 device..
The LCD screen is nice a clear and while, even at brightness 100%, its not fantastic in direct sunlight... its still pretty good... one of the best sub £500 screens for viewing outdoors Ive seen..
The speaker is surprisingly good and gets very VERY loud, so ringer and Msg tones are not a problem to hear at all, even in crowded places, although the speaker gets so loud that music can be tinney it doesn't distort, even past 90% volume... Its great.. the ear piece on recieving Calls is fantastically crisp, loud and clear
I don't play games on a 5.2" phone, so I cant comment on benchmarks, but so far.. Ive had no slow downs or stutters from the SD 630, its all liquid smooth and a breeze to use...
Also, the battery life is fantastic.. it really is... I am a moderate user and Ive only charged it once in 4 days and im still on 30%.. yep its really good... especially if you use Data saver in Google, turn your Location settings to "Battery Saving".. its Really good... and I haven't had any heat issues either... cool all the way, even using a QC3.0 fast charger.
One thing I have noticed.. Iam using a SanDisk 128GB 90M/S SDCard… but have found that its slow to access music using the SONY Music Player (album art is slow to load and songs can sometimes take a second or so to play.. .. yet on Google Music.. its nice and fast, but the XZ2 has the same issue so I don't think its the SD630 SoC ... strange that one..
Now, the camera... I purchased my XA2 and updated to build..123 (Dec 18), so I cant speak for previous issues, but I gotta say... the XA2 camera:
The Good..
Excellent in Daylight shots, great colour balance and lighting, Very clear and crisp, not bad on slow moving subjects, plenty of detail, hardly any barrel distortion or edge softening, no over-sharpening. great "Auto" Mode, great EIS..
The Bad
Poor in low light, but even when using the flash in low light.. it takes about 2 - 3 secs to actually take the image, so camera shake happens sometimes .... even when taking daylight shots, the camera can be slow to focus, over-exposes {like 90% of all phone cameras do} and I don't do selfies so I don't care about this but it has a terrible Selfie camera..
But hand on heart, this XA2 has a better camera than the old XZ Premium and XZ1.. Take all my "Good Points" and convert them to "Bad Points", plus the "Bad Points" ive already said... and you've got the XZP camera... Aside from the 4K 5.5" screen and Stereo speakers... IMHO, the XA2 is a better device than the XZP and XZ1. Ive owned 4 XZPs and an XZ1.. and ALL of them have had Terrible cameras, terrible Barrel distortion from the Z5 days, woolly, fuzzy edge softening as much as 15% on each image... Over-sharpening, terrible blurry images through rubbish EIS .. Believe me, Im still scratching my head at this XA2 compared to my XZP and XZ1 nightmares.
So, IMO its a no-brainer.. better than the P20 Lite and the Nokia 7 Plus... if you can put up with the "Sometimes" slow to focus times on the camera, not a selfie person or poor hand held low light images.. then Buy It.. this is easily the best phone under the OnePlus 5 for images and ease of use... its a joy to use, just remember it is only a 5.2" display
I'm considering getting the XA2 as a dedicated video camera for my Osmo mobile 2 gimbal. I've read some pretty damning reports that the audio when recording video is pretty awful. I have tried to find out if there has been any changes since the update but to no avail. Can you tell me if the audio has been improved? does it affect 3rd party camera apps too? Any info you can provide would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, it has been corrected. Now the audio recording is quite good. And yes, initially it was terrible !

Sorry for late reply, but as emcom has pointed out... the audio is great on videos.. but I came to the XA2 using build 123, so I dont know about previous issues.. but IMO, Ive had NO issues at all and its nice and clear

Part of the reason I went for this phone over another Samsung was due to the top notch video stabilization to be had in LG's video recording software/hardware.
Video quality is great, but the microphones are a step down from the LG V20 when it comes to handling loud environments. For 99.9% of users, this is no big deal and they pick up sound just fine. I'm that 0.1% that likes to crank it not up to 11, but to blow past even that. I put this to the test last weekend while covering some jet car races, and these videos were standing 20 feet or less away from them. Standing next to one doing afterburner pops feels like standing next to a tree as it is struck by lightning.
I shot these in manual video mode and had the mic gain lowered until the wave guide showed no clipping, but you can still hear some minor distortions. Needless to say, VOLUME WARNING on these videos.
https://youtu.be/kr3B9UkXKjk
https://youtu.be/A7LP1BdKhOY
By contrast, this video was shot from a similar vantage point, but on the V20 using manual video mode. There is no distortion on it.
https://youtu.be/ImsVhkJLr98
I was hoping for the V60 mics to perform at least as well as the V20, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. The V20 advertising made note of the high SPL abilities of its mics, but it seems they favored going with quantity over quality with the V60.
Mooncat:
Wow cool videos!
I also came from the V20, great phone! I didn't know the "high spl" was a spec of that phone's mics, interesting!
It would be interesting to test the sensitivity with low level sounds on the V60 vs V20. I'm guessing the V60 mics have better sensitivity. Plus the V60 is supposed to have a "whisper mode" to process low level sounds to enhance quality.
FYI, For those who don't know, the V60 mic itself is probably the source of distortion , dropping the gain in manual mode is the right move to avoid clipping distortion. Some professional mics come in dual varieties, normal spl and high spl. The padded ones have built in(non removable) higher spl handling to limit clipping distortion...that was probably the case for the V20. These mics normally have a red dot on them to differentiate from the normal mics.
