Screen won't turn off and cannot have LG UP recognize my device from the frozen scree - LG G6 Questions and Answers

a) phone stuck on the screen as seen here
b) pressing volume down and power button for eight seconds or so simply restarts and brings me back to this same screen
c) I'm not getting the pink circle LG logo thing in the interim (between screen going blank and coming back up). The phone just boots up to this particular screen without anything in between, except for black screen for brief second
d) The phone does not have an unlock bootloader because this model HD870DS is not unlockable
Does anybody know how to force shut this phone down? Do I have any other alternatives to make this phone running again?
My only hope is that if I can somehow, with the help from the good folks here, shutdown the handset so that I can use the LGUP to flash the original KDZ file.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try vol down + power for about 5-6 seconds. Longer will soft reboot. Else wait for battery to run out.

Fixed! I had to force into download mode and then automatically have the LG Bridge detect an 'update' and download it. LGUP does not and did not work and neither did/does Uppercut in trouble shooting, if anyone is interested in February of 2020. I know what I am talking about. With so much development here at XDA and this phone not aging so well (sporadic Pie updates around the world, etc), all the DLL files, LGUP versions, and Uppercut versions vary from 1.0 to 1.14 to 1.16 on the web (combined). With no dedicated developer/maintainer of pooling these resources AND updating them periodically, it is pretty much up to one's own, on which combo of LGUP-DLL--UPPERCUT to use and which kdz to download, etc. Lot of misinformation exists out there as to which file you should or should not use. That is my two cents on the situation involving LG G6, here at XDA and elsewhere. Those that got updated to Pie (India was latest) are in luck. Others, you can go to hell, as far as LG is concerned.
Anyways, for those who might/can/could end up EXACTLY in my position, here is how to troubleshoot
a) if you are on bootloop like I did, when on that screen, press Vol down and power simultaneously for eight to ten seconds until the screen turns black. Then...
b) AS SOON AS IT TURNS BLACK, let go of both buttons and simply keep the Vol Up button pressed
c) you will see the blue dotted 'download mode' start
d) connect your cable to the lappy or desktop
e) here is the most imp part--you DO NOT need anything other than LG Bridge to restore your phone the correct manner i.e. if you are a noob and don't want to spend more than 72 hrs seeking the right amount of info and right type of issue pertaining to you
f) how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNAvoq3Dr6U. Follow this guy's instructions. He explains well and to the tee. LG bridge will automatically download the requisite kdz file for you. You do not have to download anything.
Finally, worth mentioning, a certain junior member here at XDA (with three posts since 2018; my bad that I did not read up on his reputation before following his/her instructions on how to recover my bootloop) on this very forum, managed to slip in an .msi file extension that was actually a malicious malware that crashed my computer. Fortunately, I have a backup system to work with, so I got away with that. Keep your eyes peeled for your best solution. Keep reading and researching and never give up. It takes time but there is rarely a thing as hard brick these days...

Cant enter download mode - Please help

Guys,
so i've done some searching to no avail so i'm desperately asking for some help so i can fix my pregnant's wife cell phone (she really needs it)
I rooted her LG G2 (ATT) some time back. I never installed any recovery or custom ROM. She received an update software notification and I told her not to accept. Well coincidently later on in the day her phone stopped working (she states she did press software update button).
He phone is bricked and boots only to the LG G2 logo and she gets a boot certification error and phone turns off (but i think screen still off).
Attempting to do a hard reset did not work, i got the same LG screen with same error
I decided to flash back to stock, i understand the process and have done this before on my LG G3.
Only problem is when i try to go into download mode and plug USB into phone I get pop up messages on my laptop asking me to format local disk h: I notice that every time I attempt to go into download mode and plug the phone in, i get a bunch of local drives that pop up. I tried formatting out of desperation, but it told me disk was protected.
No idea wha'ts going on. Anyone know why i get a bunch of local drive disks instead of my phone going into download mode when i plug into my laptop?
I greatly appreciate the help, i've been at this for 3 hrs and i'm frustrated.
I think my problem may be that the phone is not truly "OFF" and i don't know how to turn this completely off since there's no battery to pull. I'm not even sure if this is the problem, but just an idea.
I tried letting the phone die completely. I thought i'd be able to let it die, charge it a bit, then hold volume up and plug it into computer to get into download mode. I thought i was a genius, until the phone died and as soon as i plugged it into charge it automatically went into bootloop again.
I think the problem is that i can't turn off the phone to get into download mode.
Any ideas?
bumping in this in hopes of some help. Still can't get this thing to go into download mode.

When I get a boot certification error my phone is always in a state when I can never truly turn it off.
When I hold the POWER button it turns OFF, then immediately turns ON again when I release the POWER button.
My solution? Hold the POWER button down for about 30 seconds.
My screen turns off at around the 10 second mark and after a while I let go of the POWER button and my phone stays OFF.
It's probably best to do this in a dark room so you can tell if the screen is really OFF.
If you're having trouble truly turning your device OFF, try THIS tutorial. It involves removing the rear case of your G2 and disconnecting your Battery.
Okay now.. assuming you got your phone to turn OFF.. continue reading..
Make sure you have the LG Drivers installed on your PC. You can download them HERE.
After installing those Drivers, download and install the Universal ADB Drivers from HERE.
Now after doing the above, try Download Mode again. Hold Volume UP and plug your phone into your PC via USB (keep holding Volume UP until you see "Download Mode").
Success? If so.. visit THIS tutorial and do the "TOT Method".
No Success? Post back and let me know :good:. You may need to follow THIS tutorial as a final solution.

I am still going to try this method so i can restore and sell on ebay. Hope it works!
You're welcome.

You're more than likely going to have to do the last option I linked you to, which requires a unix-like environment. If you need any help with that just send me a PM or post in that thread specifically.

ls997 (sprint) dirty santa root, hiccup and how i fixed it

for whatever reason, i wasn't able to put this into the development thread (that's already growing incredibly long and tedious to dig through). but i felt this should be out there for people to see in the case that they have the same problem.
just got my sprint v20 this morning. and like a true XDA lurker, i went straight for the root.
process went fine up until the part where you run step3.bat while in fastboot mode.
phone rebooted. straight to LG screen. stayed there for an hour.
tried a few battery pulls, adb device checks (showed offline most of the time, but sometimes would show 'device'), adb reboot recovery (froze), pull battery to turn phone off hold volume down and plug cable in.
nothing was working, straight to LG screen every time
then i dug around and came across where some models of phones would have a way to reflash the stock firmware from a pc program. dug into that and had no luck (.kga file not available for sprint phones yet)
then what finally worked. unplug phone, turn it off (battery pull), hold volume down, hold power button, as soon as phone turns on let off power button and hold again.
boom, straight into twrp. was able to flash my rom and the SU binary from there.
static on first boot (as described) lasted a little while before i heard the standard first start voice over, where i was able to turn the screen off with the power button, and back on to get a fully working screen.
everything works great now. hope this information helps at least someone with that everpresent lump in their stomach when they think they've screwed up their phone. . maybe this can be moved to the right place if a mod deems necessary.

Blackscreen + bad performance = Problem for the phone

Good evening and thank you for taking the time to help people in need,
This will surely be my last thread if there is a solution.
After chaining problems related to root, my Oneplus 6t makes a blackscreen with each complicated queries like downloading 13 applications or loading an icon in good quality (sarcasm) and I have to restart it by pressing vol + and power when the black screen appears to block my phone.
I do not think that clarifying the cause would help you.
I hope I have been quite understandable and avoid the wrong answers, I add that I have already reset the phone..... twice in the phone settings.
My final questions are as follows.
How to reintroduce my OnePlus 6t to 100%?,
Will removing the root will stop this performance bug? If yes, how ?,
How the unroot magisk if I can't open the app ?
There is a message for a update and if I accept or if I refuse nothing happens there is only a big black line honrizontal that passes quickly from bottom to top.
I have already tried to unroot with supersu it does not work and magisk stays with his app that cocmes back whatever happens.
Thank you in advance.
EDIT:
I have a new problem. I managed to press uninstall and now I have black screen and the power bouton makes vibrate.
I should never have rooted and I refrain from screaming with rage as it was based on a stupid idea.
If anyone can help me I would be extremely grateful.
NOW:
Now it's bricked up on the screen where there is the warning that the phone is rooted and that it can not guarantee the integrity of the phone.
The buttons have no effect and there is not vibration.
For now, I'm waiting for him to discharge.
I think I have found the solution.
You have to hold all buttons simultaneously and if it does not work you still have to try, I tried 3 three before succeeding and I'm sure it's off and it's not a black screen. And I press the buttons of volumes simultaneously and I connect the phone at the same time to my pc normally a message appears on the pc and the phone is visibly off but it is in EDL mode. Then download the program 6T_MsmDownloadTool on the pc. But for the rest .... there is the message that has appeared but it is not recognized on the software but I think it's because my pc because he did not recognize my OP6T when ordering when I rooted my phone so I tried the other pc more powerful and it worked. So I'll let you know if it works for the other pc more powerful and thanks for the help (sarcasm).
And it works on my most powerful computer.
After several panic attacks and rage, I tell myself that the root is useless except for ads. For the rest of the applications it is only used to save time but there is other way.
I would like to publish insults because this is the last time I visit this type of site, except to download the Gcam APK, but my thread could be useful for those who wish to reintroduce their OnePlus 6T to 100%.
I think you should use the msm tool to download full stock room and flash it..I don't know the details but look in the general forum that should take care of your problem.sorry you are having trouble
It's okay you need to read.
Thanks for the tip, + kudos for such polite. Good day

Samsung Galaxy S7 - Bootloader Exception Error - Cannot Bypass!

G'day everyone!
First time posting to XDA, from what I've read and seen you guys are an awesome community and I hope that you will be able to help me out with my bootloader error!
My phone has bricked itself for a couple of hours now.
Information about the bootloader error:
' Bootloader exception
[RST_STAT=0x10000]
Exception: do_handler_sync: DABT_EL1(esr: 0x96000010)
[...]
- There is a completely black screen with red text at the top specifying the error
- I have attached a photo of the exact error
- This specific type of error I've only seen only twice on the internet, a couple of years back without a confirmed solution. It seems to be quite rare...
- I understand that my aim is to get it to download mode by holding vol down, power and home. I've been trying this for hours. What's different to when I try it compared to other people is that the screen doesn't periodically go black, then back to the error. People say you keep trying and eventually it will work. But mine is not even periodically going to a black screen.
- I've tried many other combinations, even some really dodgy youtube videos but nothing is even budging it off this error screen.
- I have let it go dead multiple times, put on charge and hold the buttons to attempt download mode but it still won't budge.
I'm at a loss of what I can do. I bought the phone quite a while ago now (6 years), second hand but it was pretty much brand new. I've never had an issue with it. I will add that the bootloader error seemed to crop up after putting in on charge briefly. I've seen info about doing OTA updates when putting it on charge can cause this issue, but I'm pretty sure I never used OTA updates...

Any help or ideas that you have would be very appreciated. Cheers

Yeah its been posted multiple times.. this is mostly not a hardware issue but just a wrong bootloader flashed or such..
The solution that worked for me was :
Hold home button, and you will get to sbl upload mode
Hold vol down+home+power button while on this upload mode, phone will try to reboot.
The moment phone goes black (before it starts rebooting) , immediately release and re-hold the vol down+home+power button and you would be in download mode..
Immediately flash the correct firmware for your phone now.. and it should become alive again..
Sent from my hero2lte using XDA Labs
Connect usb from the pc and hold the the volume buttons. If boot into download mode is successful, flash the correct boot loader along with the other firmware files. If that doesn't work, try using fastboot to reboot. Good luck :good:

M30s does not boot - stuck at very first screen

Hi all,
my Gylaxy M30s rebooted itself yestarday, and now is stuck at the very first screen (the one showing "SAMSUNG Galaxy M30s" in the center and "Powered by android" at the bottom).
Vol down + power results in a reboot attempt (screen goes black, vibration), but the phone is stopping at the same screen again.
I am not able to turn the phone off.
Switching from Vol down to Vol up immediately when screen goes black does not enter recovery mode.
Vol down + power while charging sometimes leads to the charging symbol being shown on the screen, but without the percentage in the middle.
Charging over night did not help.
The phone cannot be connected to a Win PC.
Any suggestions what I can try?
Thanks,
Alchemist
Try volume down+volume up and while pressing those buttons, plug your phone into your computer. Tell me the results of that.
Nothing happening...
I mean trying those combinations immediately after using power+ volume down to reboot.
What did you do with your phone? Died suddenly when normally using?
Yes, phone died during normal usage.
Ah, I see - a screen comes up warning me that downloading a custom OS might harm the phone.
Also, the PC makes this "USB connected" sound when I then press Vol up, but I do not see a new drive connected, I think.
I am slightly optimistic now?
Press volume up.Then install Samsung usb drivers(search on Google)
Ugh, just wanted to do this, but now the phone is completely dead. No response to any button or charging. Will hang it on the charger for a few hours, but my optimism is gone...
OK, now it works again. I am in the screen with the colourfull stuff and the phone waits for some download.
Driver is installed on PC. Is there anything supposed to happen - the phone is still not accessible via PC, or is it?
Install Odin (search in Google 'odin samsung' and download)
Download stock firmware(android os) at www.samfw.com , after downloading you will see files like AP-M505xxxxxxx.tar.
Select, from the stock ROM AP-M305xxxxx.tar for AP in odin CSC-M305xxxxx.tar for CSC, and so forth then click start .
OK. All data will be lost, right? Is there some way to access the internal storage to rescue some files before flashing the new firmware?
Sorry to tell you that you cannot have data restored bad news for you sorry
Sorry. If you only see one file(make sure it is .tar or .tar.md5 file) after you extracted the .zip firmware, install it to the AP slot.
Any chance I could fix this issue with tools like dr.fone, UltFOne, ReiBoot?
I do not have any experiences with these - no idea if the just want to make money with desparate customers? ...
These could possibly brick your phones even more ( anyways flashing with Odin could also brick your phone). However, it in some cases can fix your device.
If you HAVE to have your data back and you don't mind paying, visit a service center and tell them: 'Hey my phone died and i HAVE to have the data back '.(I know, your warranty is expired probably, but they might still do the things for you with paying.)(if those stores closed during lockdown then I don't know any way to fix it.)
OK, another thing I have observed: The screen goes black after about 30 sec to 5 min when not charged - the shorter it was charged, the quicker the screen goes black. Buttons do nothing when screen is black. When reattached to charger, phone tries to boot and is then stuck at said screen - no button pressing needed for the phone to try to start. The longer the phone has been without charger, the longer it takes until the phone tries to boot.
Maybe it's just the battery that is dead - or would the phone with a dead battery boot normally when attached to charger?
If that is the case, open up your phone, put in a replacement battery, and try to boot up(yes, you need to. it will be a frustrating process.). Your phone could be having a faulty battery and nothing else, to cause this issue.
Im having the same problem mentioned above. The samsung service centre says to replace the motherboard which costs almost half the price of the actual phone..

Truth to be told: The guy in the repair shop opened the phone and wanted to change the battery - when he saw that water must have come into the phone, corroding the motherboard. So yeah, all data lost, but... no backup, no mercy. I now have set up a NAS for all computers and devices in our family... ;-)
If it really is a hardware problem then the quality must have been really bad.
