Do custom roms have dc dimming? - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Since the stock rom does not.

Next LineageOS 17.1 build will have it. Stay tuned.

I read somewhere that is a hardware related limitation of our device. Does not work in Amoled.

This is not the case. Xiaomi is unwilling to add dc dimming to the redmi k20 (mi 9t). Xiaomi has added dc dimming to many amoled screen devices previously released.

I hope xiaomi or a custom rom will add dc dimming. I now use Oled saver app.

I did try that app but it still flickers and gives me eye strain. Try record in slow motion with another phone and you can still see it.
I sold my device as I just can't wait any longer. I'm happy with my decision tho. Hope you guys get a solution soon too.

Unfortunately, Pig dropped it. It was causing fingerprint sensor issues.

So many things aren't working on Nougat so what do you expect from O? If the stability is irrelevant, then I understand the anticipation.

So, for example, flash light in not yellow? Night pictures are not garbage? Even with moded Google camera? For me, camera is pretty useless if i don't use it outside.
There is also some signal dropping but that's another story.

Yellow flashlight because dual tone flash not a bug, camera is garbage on this phone and it's not any better on MIUI, especially in low light.
Signal drop is visual indicator bug, signal is fine you will not drop out of the call.

I don't care about the colour of the torch. If/when I need to use the torch, I don't think that my greatest priority will be yellow or white light. I have no issues with the camera in low light conditions. The modded OnePlus5 camera app deals perfectly well with that, as much as anyone can reasonably expect.
wait till LOS adapts those codes n someone build a Oreo tree for our device ...

Flash Treble Build On Honor 7X

Someone flashed Treble build on Honor 9 Lite which uses the same CPU as Honor 7X and successfully booted....

Eh..... You do know Project Treble is an "Oreo" thing right ?
And...... The Honor 9 lite comes with Oreo 8.0 out of the box....
Keep your 7X Stock ( That's the key )........ wait a little longer........ and you will be receiving a notification that you are about to be updated to Oreo 8.0...
Then....... You can try Project Treble on your Honor 7X
I'll try it

let us know how it goes planning to pick up a 7X pretty soon and while it's an appealing device I'm not too crazy about EMUI, so if it can run an AOSP Treble build that would make it all the better.

I have a few issues, the GPU is absolutely awfull, not recommend for intensive gaming.
The front camera Is very bad especially under low light.
The rear cameras are quite good but suffer under low light as well.
For some reason i don't get any updates.
(This is specific for my device though)
The screen is amazing, nice colours, sharp. Just lovely.
There is some occasional ghosting in YouTube but this is only in YouTube so no other apps (for me at least)
I do thoroughly recommend buying it of the official site.
Even when Oreo comes to 7x, whats the guarantee, that it will come with Treble support ?

Just make sure you STAY STOCK.. and you'll get EMUI 8.0 / OREO 8.0 on Day 1 of the rollout.

Link to that thread, please.
Will the partition responsible for project treble remain untouched even when flashing a new android version when it comes out comes out (I mean, if I'm updating from a treble supported Oreo ROM to a P ROM)?

Is this device waiting for something before ROMs start flowing?

Kinda surprised there are no ROMs yet...
Does something need to be released for this to happen, or have not enough devs bought this phone?

Probably not enough devs.
In my opinion the release of pocophone really made this device irrelevant.
So Jasmine is the red headed step child...

Well, at least we are lucky that this phone works really good on stock ROM, so for now, I'm not complaining.
There is only two things I would like to be fixed, dual ringtone option, and some king of proximity fix, everything else works perfectly fine for me.
Ofcorse, camera2 by default would be great.

Have you held the pocophone in your hand? It's awful. Cheap plastic, cheap plastic everywhere. Plus bleeding screen. Yes, it has SD845, but the design and build quality is setting us five years back. For me, it is not an acceptable phone. I hope we get some good custom roms soon.

Keep in mind that on stock android, until Pie, you won't actually see the brightness slider moving, once the system has set a value you're supposed to use it to adjust the brightness around it.

Sure but max brightness is very dim compared to which values it can go when manually setting it to a high value.
Draco is developing an awesome kernel "Hex" kernel. Still in testing phase. I am using it for last 2 days and its giving me amazing battery life. If somehow we get a working pie vendor there are few devs which will bring some of the famous roms.

Feeling Headache using Mi 9T

I start experiencing seware headache after using Mi 9T for about 15 mins.
Anybody else experiencing the same ?
Has it something to do with PWM and DC dining ?

Well, what phone did you have before the Mi 9t? was it an LCD display? some people seem to be sensitive to PWM, you might want to look in the future for a phone with DC Dimming.

I'd be in for it! RR is the only ROM that I used long-time on any of my phone's. Usually I'd just switch between like. Bliss, LOS, PE, Havoc and such as they all have things I don't like or miss and RR was the one ROM that had it all...
If you need testers with a EU 8 Pro (IN2023) i'd be up for that!

RR has added 100s more options. They have integrated a fully customizable theme also. Like fully transparent, pure black/white, changing icons, colors, fonts, navbar buttons, etc. I left havoc for RR and will never go back.
So, as of right now, this project is being abandoned by the dev I was working with and myself. We had too many build errors. We need a proper repo from Lineage which is not available.
Stay tuned.......
We are more than likely going to have it have the rom forced to 60hz but it's still a work in process on the build side. We have it 65%+ successful build.
Good to hear!
Just leave this right here
Btw, I am NOT the dev responsible for this
Ladies and gentlemen. 120hz works fine. Actually the only bug is fingerprint and adding 60hz and 90hz(work in progress).

Wouldn't bother with 60hz just add FHD as a switch from QHD as QHD can cause issues with battery depletion and green tint along with other things.
120hz is preferred by 99% of users anyway.

Neither do I have any of the other reported issues or the green tint, but myself and yourself are two people
If a developer is going to release a ROM then they should take others into account.
Or is all this work just for yourself? That's not what XDA is really about is it?
QHD will burn your battery down faster than FHD and the difference is minimal, that will affect you too.
Your call.
