PX5 4G ram with Android 10, someone already tested them? - Android Head-Units

Hello,
I saw that in Chinese online markets are available car auto heads with Android 10.
The hardware specs are the usual (cpu PX5, 4 gb ram etc), is safe to buy them or we should wait or choose an android 9 radio in order to have stability?
Any way to root them in near future?
I searched online but there are no reviews in youtube for these android 10 units.
Thank you!!
Axl

Once installed in the new car, I would like to keep it for the next 10 years approximately.
I guess that Android 8 will be prehistory in 2030
Before to buy an Android 10 unit, I will wait for the first reviews and (fingers cross!) first root/mod experiments here in xda.

i bet you won't keep the whole car for 10 years, forget the android unit
we will have android automotive by then, hope more OEMs jump on that bandwagon. For now only Volvo will use it this year on the XC40 electric / Polestar 2. Later on, Audi and Fiat/Chrysler will join.

I Purchased the same radio from xtrons but the only issue I'm having so far is trying to hide the system status bar been trying to find a fix but most of them require root which the head unit is not or adb and I have no clue on how to adb into this head unit.

New Joying Head Unit? Tweeted Dec 5 2015

I saw this tweet
https://twitter.com/carjoying/status/673061917242564608
I can't seem to find any additional info. I just bought the currently available one so I'm really interested to see if this new one is updated android and PX4 Rockchip.
Anyone know more?
I like the higher volume button. Out of the way.
I also just had an interaction with Joying where they indicated they will have an universal 10" single din model like their VW model ready in 2 weeks.
So from my reading of Joying's stereos, these are all basically the same, but with a differently designed front on them? I see the same Android version, processor and specs on every one, really. I'm asking because I'm curious about getting one and am a little overwhelmed with options that all seem about the same.
There are different cpu specs and resolutions. Some of the units are car specific due to some integrations like the VW units with can-bus showing heat and a/c info etc. If they have a unit that is specific for your can then it probably has a nice faceplate on it. Otherwise there are the universal units.
I consider to get one for my car, so I have to wait for new version
how are teh joying units, they got them on amazon which is abig plus if theres any issues
Cool! Thanks for sharing. Have an older model and it has been pretty solid so far. Might pick up a new one for the spare car Hopefully the Bluetooth quality is fixed with the updated unit.

The 2015 model is now on their website and amazon too for $330ish.... XDA won't let me post the link right now cuz I never post.....
There's also a forum about upgrading the unit to 5.1 with software provided by Joying... I may have to order one now...
The new ones are not out yet. A few days ago they let me know the 10.1" universal unit is coming in the next week or two.
Many units on their site say 2015.
Is 1gb fast enough for these units?
I have not had any issues with mine
Plenty responsive. Boots up quick too.
what about bluetooth and wifi quality? Are hardware mods still required with these unit?
I don't know about the newest model being released, but the Bluetooth quality with the model I have does have a hint of distortion. I use a hotspot on my phone without any signal problems, so can't speak to the signal strength with trying to connect to a wifi access point.
How are they selling a 10" model? What car would that ever fit in without huge customization of the entire dash panel?
Bought it

why are they releasing new models with still 4.4.4 and 1gb RAM?

I was thinking the same thing... Also, rk3188 is getting old. Most of the Android TV boxes have moved onto newer processors and Android.
Sent from my CarPad-II-P using XDA Free mobile app
Proven and more or less stable., abundant and inexpensive. Parts on hand. Also, when the new new board show up its not hard to simply swap them.
Sure, we want new and better every week. I'm happy to have this form factor now rather than waiting for 5.1.. Simple upgrade later.

This is not about wanting new every week...KitKat is 2 and half years old...Lollipop has been out for a year an a half....Lollipop should be the bare minimum when they ship devices these days, ....and 1gb RAM on any device in the year 2016 is just plain insulting.

Respectfully, I think you are being a little naive. Many of the manufacturers are working on the next full iteration of chips and 5.1 or 6 OS versions, but do you see many yet? It only takes a card swap on the head unit to change the SOC... and really the SOC and Android version has nothing to do with most of the hardware of these headunits. Take a look at the wide range of products a company like Joying offers. Pretty slick range of OEM looking faceplates and integrations with CAN bus etc. Truthfully, many of these companies are limited by what Rockchip and the subs provide for them.
You should definitely feel personally insulted. What were they thinking?! How could they develop a product without consulting devoidx?! :silly:

Ownice C500 released

http://www.ownice.com/Pro_Auto DVD ...VD GPS Navigation for 2din Universal_405.html
somebody buy this and review it
There seem to be 2 models in C500, universal one is 4 core and no DVD and cheaper. The DVD unit is 8 Core CPU and is almost double the price, I would wait for the 8 core to come up in Universal unit and then try
Sadly, they seem to have removed the volume knob (which was still present on the C300). I was looking forward to this, but now it seems like I have to look elsewhere - I won't buy a device on which I can't change the volume without looking at it.
.deleted.
Associated with the manufacturer says that you can buy with С500 on 11/11/2016. There are big discounts.
I am a bit disappointed, the hardware is great but why don't they increase the memory to 3 or 4gb mem, a octa core uses more memory because there are more cores. And why no 32gb internal storage, every time the Android releases a new os, it grows, so there is less space for other things to store it on the 16gb storage. And does the GPS also support GLONASS and GALILEO?

These are the second Android 6.0 units I've seen that have Kitkat UI elements like the navbar at the top and the launcher tabs.
Makes me wonder if these are really 6.0 or if they are a hybrid of all sorts of older pieces stuck together.

In all likelihood it's some terrifying mix of Android 4.4, 5.1, and 6.0. Am currently considering buying an Ownice C500 Android 6.0 unit for a future car purchase (BMW E90 or E92). When it happens I'll create a video review and forum post. Am incredibly curious to see if the "4G LTE SIM Support" actually works with Verizon.
If they supported a Verizon sim, I would be tempted to buy one

Which Android head unit?

Hi,
I am currently looking for a new Android 6 double din head unit to fit in my car. After many hours of research and price comparison, I finally have picked 2 (actually 3) devices to choose from.
On the one hand there is the Ownice C300 (either as quad core (200€) or as the octa core (300€) version). I think their specs are known because there are already a lot of threads concerning these units. Its unique feature is the built-in 4G modem.
The other alternative is the Zeepin DY7098 which you can get for approx. 170€. Apparently, it has an Intel SofiaGR3 SoC, supports fast boot and has a built-in 3G modem. Other specs are quite similar to the C300: same display resolution, 2GB RAM.
As far as I've read in other threads, the Intel SoC should be faster than most of other quad core SoCs (and maybe also than the octa core), because the other chips use slow Cortex A7 cores. The unit should be fast enough for navigation, radio and OBD bluetooth. I definitely don't want to use it for games.
Maybe someone knows the Zeepin device, which is currently my favorite, because of its looks and the low price.
Any opinion or experience is highly appreciated
Hi, I would be also interested in the Zeepin device, did you order it? Does anyone know anything about that device?
If I were you I would buy an unit that has a good XDA community because all the Chinese units have software issues and with XDA can remedy some if not all of them.
The support from manufacturer is rarely good (but there are exceptions, Joying was the exception for me), in my experience was poor or simply non-existent.
Yes, I ordered the Zeepin unit. I hope it will be delivered next week so that I can install it on the weekend. The main reason, I bought it is that it is only half the price of comparable Joying devices (they have no modem included, so this adds to the total costs). And the Zeepin device is also distributed under the "Pumpkin" brand, at least here in Germany and their devices have pretty good reviews on amazon.
I will give you an update as soon as possible.

m using DY7098. its good purchase. only issue m facing during up gradation of android version. I even cant login to the boot option also.
looking for any suggestion in this regards.
So far I can say that the unit is pretty good. The boot time is only 2 seconds and the unit is very responsive in general. The build quality as well as the sound quality are very good. Everything works fine (Bluetooth, GPS, 3G).
The only thing is that it came with Android 5.1 on it, although the product description says ot is Android 6. I need to check how to update the device.
However, I can highly recommend it, especially considering the low price.

Hi yonaz77, I also want to buy this Zeepin DY7098. It looks realy nice and the price is perfect.
I hope you don't mind to help me with some questions.
Did you find a way to update the firmware to Android 6.0?
Did you try this built in 3G modem? Is it working fine? Do you know what kind of frequencies is it using?
Hi!
No i did not find a way to update the device. But as far as the software is working fine, I don't really care that much.
3G is working fine for me, but I dont know the feequencies. Only issue is that I sometimes get an interference with my car speakers.
I'm also running Zeepin DY7098 with Android 6 on board, however my unit can't read any USB devices. Has someone run into the same problem as well?

JOYING or PUMPKIN head unit?

hello
I'm really debating between choosing the latest JOYING headunit (with the digital amplifier) and the PUMPKIN 7.1 android
does they have the external mic problem?
Is there any other recommended stable Chinese android head unit?
I'm more or less convinced that it's really a zero sum game with these units. Each has it's own issues and benefits and they even out. Find one with the screen you like and general features.

Everyone has an opinion or approach. Depends on your objectives.
Personally, I find a good source first. I like Amazon because I can easily return. Then a look in the forums to check the amount of discussions and support for things I need. I read a bit and then buy something that seems to have some discussions and an amount of success or managed issues. Not everyone takes the approach.
Pumpkin and Joying are fairly established so I think they go in a short list.
I'm about to go with a Secaine unit because they do a nice job with dash specific plastic and form factors, but I don't hear much good about the guts. I see a lot of negative things, but that may just be because only people with problems post.
If you like hands on mods then a Joying might be fun. If you don't then maybe consider any good options that aren't Intel based.

Can you use your phone as a wifi hotspot? That would keep things simple.
Reliable might not be a quality attributed to any of the android unit. It's my opinion that most of accept some degree of mediocre reliability in exchange for the functionality we gain with being able to run android on the head unit.
You may want to consider opening your search to include Android Auto units. Waze is supported now.

I would not recommend an android unit for older parents that use an old simple nokia if the reasons are that a smart phone is too complicated. I believe they may have issues with the use of the unit and that could be a safety issue.
ATOTO Double DIN Android 6.0 is my choice
I am owning ATOTO Android 6.0 HU. When it comes to operation speed, ATOTO is the best. After PUMPKIN Android 7 released for 2 months, I checked a lot reviews about it. But I think that may slower than my ATOTO Android 6.0 system. So I will just keep Android 6.0
i want to buy unit that support video out (headrest monitors), i found 2 units that i think that is good and i dont know what to choose.
1. joying JY-UM135N2PX5 CPU: PX5 Octa core Cortex-A53 up to 1.5GHz
2. hizpo WJZ99GX - CPU: T8 2.0GHz (i think this is the model number)
most of the parameters are the same, exept the CPU
does anybody could recommend one of them or maybe another unit that i missed?
Yes, after long time research, I finally got ATOTO back with my 2003 Mazda Miata. So far so good. The screen responds faster than my wife's Joying. Good try!And it helped me save a lot money.

What do I choose, Eonon GA9453B or Joying

Good night, I want to know if the radio Eonon is a good choice. It has DSP, android 10, IPS screen, "9 and TDA7851L Power Amplifier. But what concerns me is the processor being the MTK 8227l, A7 quadcore 1.2ghz and having 2gb of RAM. I will use google maps, spotify and youtube. With a promotion the radio would cost € 315. On the other hand, I have Joying with everything Eonon has but with an Intel octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM, but the worst thing is that it has Android 8.1 and the screen is not IPS and is more expensive. What do you advise me?
Thanks.
I'm looking into the same question, at the moment the Eonon GA9353 is $250 with free cameras, and the Joying is $100 more. I don't see the benefit of the octa-core being sufficient for me (music + GPS). Did you find more info to help decide?
I've been delving deeper into these radios in the last few days and reading everything about these radios here at XDA and I see that Eonon radios really have very outdated components (processor, like the Cortex a7), and I don't know how they can handle Android 10.
Then we have the Dasaita max 6 which looks very good, but it is very expensive, and then you have the atoto, which will update its radios now in May for the Intel processor equal to that of Joying.
The Joying radio is the best price / quality choice, despite having some bugs and android 8.1, it will probably be my choice.
The Radio is this JY-VO131N4GSN.
So, my question will this device be upgraded to android 9? Thanks
Eonon
More reading, DSP seems to worth the investment. The Eonon Is Android 8.1 faked to display Android 10.

I don't think so.
But why do you want Android 9 or 10? There is absolutely no added benefit from 9 or 10 on these head units.
You should ask: How long will this unit be supported? And how long will security fiexes be supported? That's a more important question.
And theoretically, Android 9 and 10 will be longer supported but hardly any of these resellers do that. As soon as they have a new hardware config, they stop supporting the old one.
Atoto is the only exception, but they are still on Android 6. But support is still continuing over most models.

Yes, you are right.
My concern is that Android will be out of date and the applications will no longer support it, but also the support itself will not provide bug fixes and security bugs fixes, but the OS is also not too old. So I will either go for the 9 "or 10" inch joying, both suitable for the Golf 6. I will also buy a subwoffer the JBL basspro hub, it is at an excellent price on ebay. Thanks, this forum helped me a lot, however when the radio arrives I will post photos and comment on the radio, so I can help other people who need it to choose.
