1.5 seconds from tapping the camera icon to snapping a pic.

Less than a second, it's pretty quick

takes about 10 seconds on my phone... is that normal? I noticed my phone runs much slower than I expected. I had the Moto Z3 Play before and I was happy with its performance. The Moto G power seems very unresponsive for me.

How to set up the Camera to operate without typing in my PIN?

My camera is often slow, depending on the lighting and other variables, but the main problem is that I can't figure out how to put the camera icon on my lockscreen so I do not have to type in my PIN to take a shot. I don't want to set up fingerprint reading. Has this been disabled in Android 10?
Thanks!

I was finally inspired to find the answer. The Moto app shows that you can turn on the camera on the lock screen with a gesture--twisting the phone up and down like opening a door handle twice.

I really like the wrist flicking gesture. From the point of pulling my devicer out and flicking my wrist twice, the camera app takes about 3 - 4 seconds to open up to a point where I will be ready to take a picture. Not sure if the wrist flicking gesture is unique to Motorolla phone, it's a great selling point if it is.

The camera app launches fast enough. But I'm seeing lag when I take photos.
It's definitely not as fast taking photos compared to the GS7 (my previous phone), which is disappointing.
It's still very annoying that the camera quick launch only goes to "Superior" auto mode.
Taking pictures using the dedicated shutter button even slower. I use the on screen button instead.

The ability to quick launch the camera from a double tap of the side/power button means you can launch the camera pretty fast and it responds snappily.
You can even use the camera while the phone is closed, using the tiny front screen as a viewfinder. That's novel and fun for selfies but it will only take square 1:1 pictures this way and the little screen is pretty useless, especially as it's a different resolution so makes framing anything other than a portrait impossible.

Slow to open.
Not UNUSABLE.
Just average.
Takes about 2.5-3.0 seconds to open the camera using the twist action from screen off or from any other screen.
You'll miss the shot if you're truly to be super quick.
But it's reasonable and as fast as many more expensive phones.

First time here, hope y'all don't mind hitting an old thread. But my camera doesn't work at all. App opens, always gives first-time tutorial, & it works for 10 sec. Then always freeze, & reset. I'll also get a notification saying something like 'initializing image processing' or something like that.
I've tried some camera apps & no dice. Im gonna study about rooting, but ya think a root could fix it? Or does it sound like a hardware issue?
Factory reset it imo.

The speed is not impressive but it's better than my V30. I save the images to my SD card, so that might be slowing it down (although I am using a high-speed card). With my wife's iPhone 8 I can take rapid photos almost as quickly as I can tap the screen. This phone is more like one photo every .75 seconds.
Double click the power button and launch the camera. Ready to snap shots nearly instantly... good enough for me.

About 1 second from screen off, double tap power button to ready to shoot.
