Did you subscribe to any soak test or something?
Does the phone feel smoother? Did they add Dolby Atmos? (A.k.a Moto Audio)

No i did not join a soak test. Yes the phone feels smoother and moto audio is added in, plus Verizon moto z4 now has moto email app included.

Niice, can't wait for the unlocked version release ?

Still waiting (Verizon) .
Maybe if I do a factory reset ?.
Maybe I'm just looking for a reason to
reset my phone and set everything back
up again ?. God I miss custom roms
and installing something new every week.
?

Anyone else got the update?

Ya, love the screen shot of an app?

Looking at it now, something's very fishy about OP and the thread, there's only ONE screenshot and it's on the camera app info, it's not even on the software update menu, he describes very few if any worthy details about the update.
Not to mention, he's the only guy so far who has this supposed "Android 10 update" for the Z4 "OTA on Verzion" when everybody else about almost a week later, still hasn't recieved an update.
The lack of any overwhelming proof and only a very few details is what raises a major red flag for me.
And why would a carrier variant of any phone gets an update before the UNLOCKED version? Could be me but that's honestly unusual for that to happen right?
News outlets shouldn't report on this guy for an update on the Z4, I'm feeling he's just spreading false hype.

I did get the android 10 update. I did not think you guys would want more screen shots sense the moto z4 runs stock android. This is Motorola we are talking about, they have release Carrier updates before retail before.

Thanks for the response, we only want to see more screenshots (Specifically of the Software update menu or about phone menu) because people on other forums are questioning the legitimacy of this thread and we just want further proof.

Something like this may help. Shows Android version and model number in same screenshot, so that people know it's legit ?.

Okay, this is getting annoying at the least. Still nobody has this update, not even me as a Verizon Z4 user, and you're still refusing to send more screenshots of proof and it's been well over a week since you started this thread.
I mean how is it so hard for you to share a couple of screenshots that only takes very little of your time, it's that simple.
So either you're in a soak test, or something is faked (based on looking at how sketchy that original screenshot looked) and assuming either way, you just want to get attention.
People are tired of your bullshitting!

I'm not buying it:

Is this carrier dependant, or do all Canadian devices get it first? Today I got a Moto X from an eBay seller in Canada and the software seems to indicate it's localised to Canada somewhat (system version has a .CA at the end, for example).
Location and the provider you're using the Rogers phone with won't matter, the update will work anywhere on any provider as it is based only on the current firmware version and to a lesser degree on the unique serial number of the phone.(updates generally released to serial number ranges at first as a test)

Well there's the 4.2.2 camera upgrade, but unless there's a 4.4.2 camera update, 4.4 isn't really an improvement.

they better update directly to 4.4.3

Absolutely correct. Folks already know that we are getting an update. It's a matter of when. Unless someone posts when...then the news is useless. First thing I read when opening this thread was... "Oh, a date has been set?!?!?!?". Talk about a tease.

could it be possible, that verizon relocks the bootloaders of unlocked devices ?
i think this isnt possible, but i am not sure. and i think we would rather get android 4.4.2 and maybe sometime later 4.4.3 than direct 4.4.3

Based on the last communication from Motorola on Google+, I expect it's either 4.4.3 or they will have 4.4.2 with anything changed in 4.4.3 patched in. I don't think they will go through the PITA (for them) of doing two separate updates.
See https://plus.google.com/+PunitSoni/posts/Ukc61bfdYTz - scroll down a bit to see David Schuster say:
For those that have been expressing their frustration and asking about the timing for the DROID Ultra and Maxx 4.4.2 upgrade. We are also frustrated. There have been some late requirement changes that have generated some unforeseen delays. We are actively working on getting you the upgrade as quickly as we can, however, it will still be a number of weeks before it is ready. Very sorry for the delays.

In a separate thread, Schuster hinted that the 2012 Droids (The Razr HD and Razr M) were getting KitKat updates in a week or two, so I suspect that Moto is planning to do those devices and then ours. I guess we'll see.
I can guess RazrHD series will get 4.4.2 with bug fixes (heart bleed vulnerability) and we may directly get 4.4.3 in future... Just a wild guess...

Its likely true that the Droid Razr series will get their updates first, but I doubt that's responsible for much of our delay.
Schuster previously said the last-minute changes are network related. My guess is Motorola had to put the Droids back through FCC testing.
I'm not overly concerned. Network changes happen. If this is really changes on the baseband, I'm fine with the delay. But I'll be pretty pissed if "network" changes really means Verizon just wants to muck with the Android build or add bloat.

Yeah, I don't think that's why, but I do think that Motorola is only going to run an OTA for one platform at a time. They're not going to update the 2012 Droids and the 2013 Droids at the same time. Especially after what happened with the last ota we had - can you imagine having to support a huge bricking problem on two different sets of otas at the same time?
I'm just going on the wording from Schuster that the 2012 Droid updates are a couple of weeks away and the 2013 Droid update is coming a number of weeks away.a
:good:

KitKat Tracking

I've been finding a bunch of posts regarding when the Razr HD will be getting KitKat. We have been waiting a while, so I figured I'd make a tracking thread so everyone can know when KitKat is finally released.
The last piece of information we have really gotten came from David Schuster, senior director at Motorola Mobility in Illinois.
This post alone sparked a great many Android articles... Needlessly so, IMO
One G+ post fed:
Android Central
Into Mobile
Softpedia
Phone Arena
DroidLife
Seems I'm not the only one starving for some news.
me too I'd like to know when we'll receive kitkat...a question, i'm from Italy but i purchased my razr hd in Uk.
My version is 98.21.22003.xt925.CEE-Retail.en.EU..Will I receive the upgrade as well or the release is only for Verizon users?
David Schuster did say a couple of days ago that the "M and HD are in Verizon labs currently". And that "Labs" can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
It's in the same Google+ post linked in the OP. It's toward the bottom of the comments.

It still isn't clear weather a completed version is in their labs for testing and approval OR Moto's version was submitted to them for them to add bloat, test, fix, test, add more bloat, test, etc. I think once Verizon puts out a soak with their junk on it, then we may be getting truly close.
* This is only my interpretation on how this process is working and may be wrong.

Sounds more hardware than software related. I doubt they'd hold an event (or waste time at one) to announce a software update for phones released back in '12. They didn't for the newer, more relevant phones, and with no other company calling an event to announce "we've released KK for you on XYZ phone" it would come off as very pompous.
...am curious to see what their next model phone is though...
So possibly the firmware will be released before the new phone comes out?

Everything is speculative with no real concrete evidence to back anything up. We know that it's likely to come out this month, but even that is not 100% certain.

Marshmallow

I didn't find a thread, so I'm starting one. Marshmallow on the Moto X 2014. Timeline? Rumors? Got a port working? Hopefully we get it in shorter order than the original X got Lollipop.
I'm guessing OTA between December 2015 & February 2016.
Sources say the end of this year. November or December maybe.
If google release a 6.0.X, they going to push the update for moto back...
Sent from my XT1093 using Tapatalk
I am hoping we get a official ota by Motorola around December.
I really think Motorola can push 6.0 without taking much time as it's not much a big change as lollipop when it was out.

Not sure I'm that convinced by the quality of this report.... "However, the same documents carried no hints on when exactly the update to Marshmallow is happening for Moto X 2014 owners but it appears quite certain that they take a bite of the new Android sweet ahead of the Moto X 2014 users."
Carrier models will not get it

Yup just saw this. I have the Verizon version 5.1.1 and unrooted. Which means I won't be able to get Marshmallow at all on this phone. It has only been a year and it is done already. How nice!
Moto should be ashamed of itself.

You do realize its more then likely the carriers not moto that is responsible for this. There were like 5 models approved by wifi authority if phones that were approved by them dont get the update its not cause of moto, its cause the carriers want you to buy a new phone.
Moto is updating the Droid turbo for Verizon. Does that mean Verizon doesn't want those people to buy new phones, only 2014 moto x owners?

this is a god damn shame that carriers have so much control over this. very pissed about the lack of update for the carrier models

Yup, I just read this on their site. I'm actually really disappointed in Motorola. I thought that a flagship that is ONE YEAR OLD would still be supported. I mean, at least maybe now I could use a custom ROM and not worry about updates ruining the system. :/

Why should they list every single carrier version? I'm sure they will get the update, maybe later.

As I said most of the 2014 line already has the updates approved. Moto only controls directly the devices they listed, the carrier ones even if moto puts out the update is still required to have carrier approval. The pure's are the only ones in the gen 2 moto x line that moto DIRECTLY controls updates for. Might be as simple as moto wont say that's Verizon for example will or will not get updates as the final decision is Verizons where as the pure the decision is exclusively Motorolas.
