Recovery for the t-mobile one plus 7T pro mcclaren 5G device - OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Questions & Answers

Is there a stable recovery for the t-mobile one plus 7T pro mcclaren 5G device. Is this device easy to sim unlock without using t-mobile's unlock app. And do you see this device having a lot of development meeting a lot of ROMs. Because I like the flash different rounds on me to flash install different roms on my device if possible.I would greatly appreciate any information on these topics. Thanks In advance!!!

Domestic unlock for Sprint variant

It's been awhile sense ive been on here. While I was here there was a different guy working on the cm12 port and with that he spent a lot of time getting GSM working on the Sprint version. Now it's someone else and its for all variants so its been really difficult to find out what the process is. For most phones you have to do something special before flashing but it didn't seem that way last year when I had the phone. I want to give it to my daughter's mother who is on gsm straight talk. After rooting the device could I simply just flash any custom rom and gsm is instantly available or is there another step I'm missing. Ive searched a bit through the Q&A and general but because all variants share the same section I can't find a direct answer for my Sprint model.
Could someone please direct me in the right direction

1- You root the phone
2- You use this (easiest way): http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/apk-flash-twrp-autorec-thanks-to-t3081396
3- You flash what you want
& next time, post question in the Q/A thread please.
Thank you! But to be clear. after rooting and flashing the recovery I can use any gsm sim and I don't have to do anything special, it'll just work (beyond me inputting the appropriate APN)
Yea sorry about not posting in Q&A.

Why is it so hard to unlock the bootloader

I downloaded everything, but keep running into problems, such as adv cannot open, then after I Google for solutions and done it, another problem pops the fk
You should clearly state the specific problems you are experiencing if you actually want help.
Unlocking bootloader is actually the simplest . If you go to Htcdev.com, there they have step by step guide follow it and you will be done

Hey mate. If you need a hand doing this, I can help.
Follow these instructions & if you run into problems, write down exactly what errors etc you get and let me know. I've unlocked the bootloader on a few different HTC's.... Proceedure - https://www.hardreset.info/devices/htc/htc-u-ultra/faq/faq/bootloader-unlock-htc/
I'm also looking at getting one soon, so I can flash a GSI onto it.
You may also need this information when getting unlock code from htc dev website, choosing tour phone seems to have some stumped - https://forum.xda-developers.com/u-ultra/help/how-to-unlock-bootloaderhtc-website-htc-t3784483
So after I unlock my bootloader then I can flash twrp recovery onto my HTC u ultra? Is that how it all works? Thanks In advance!!!

Looks like they don't like certain email domains anymore. Try to sign up with gmail account - worked for me.

Unlocking the bootloader on your t-mobile oneplus 6T device

First you have to get your son unlocked and then active the oem unlock in the Dev section in your devices settings and then in 7 days you receive a token from T-Mobile allowing you to unlock your bootloader for you can now root your device right? So if I buy a new oneplus 6T out rightcan I have my device sum unlocked right then or do I need to still wait 40 days and then active the oem in the settings and then get the token in 7 days and then unlock my bootloader? Will you please let me know if I got some seizure right and if I have it wrong for you please explain the correct way I would greatly appreciate it thanks in advance take care

If the device is paid in full at the time of purchase, I don't think they lock your sim. But I would ask them to check right then and there to make sure it is unlocked.
I bought an oneplus 6t from tmobile on monthly payments , 1.5 hours later bootloader and Sim unlocked. No tokens or anything. Follow guides to flash international rom. Then guides to unlock Sim and bootloader.

No. I followed the guides.
First guide is flash to international.
Then the Sim/bootloader/root guides.
Yes there is that way also, but a little more involved. If you follow the guides it should be easy, but just ask questions if there is something you don't understand.

Root after msm fix for t-mobile to international

I fell into the trap, that from the looks of it, many have fallen into themselves. I was offered the Android 10 beta OTA using a t-mobile device converted to international via msm.. My problem now is after I brought it back to life via msm again I could not root the phone bc my OEM unlocking button is grayed out in developer options. I have tried several different versions of the msm but they all seem to yield the same result..... the inability to unlock the bootloader. I even somehow used an msm that converted it from international to t-mo again lol. Can anyone with more knowledge then myself, which I'm sure is most on XDA, please help me solve this problem? Thank you in advance.
You will want to either install Android 10 Open Beta from OnePlus' update page or wait for official stable OxygenOS 10 update, atop the OxygenOS 9.0.11 (after re-unlocking the bootloader) and it's a common knowledge that restoring any phones using the emergency software reinstaller, like the MSMTools, actually relocks the bootloader, so don't update using MSMTools, instead use TWRP, if you want to keep the phone unlocked.
Lastly, NEVER trust OTA update.

did you read my post? I didn't update the phone. I used MSM to restore the phone after I bricked it trying to update to Android 10. The last time I converted the t-mo to international I had no problems going into developer settings and unlocking the bootloader. As of yet I cannot unlock the bootloader,
You will have to downgrade then. It's the only way to unlock the bootloader on the T-Mobile OnePlus 6T phone.

You need to use the Msm tool with version 9.0.11 to unlock your bootloader, as later versions will not allow you to do so.

Best root method?

I'm NOT trying to make duplicate threads if one had already been made, I HAVE searched already for my answer, I am NOT trolling. I am only making this thread/asking because there are multiple different methods to root this phone apparently and none seem to be specific enough for me to feel safe just using it, I've had bad roots before. Now that that's out the way, I have a 6T (A6013) that was originally a T-Mobile branded device but has been unlocked (bootloader and Sim) and converted to the international model and is now running 10.3.0 stable. I would prefer to not lose my data (lots of job related documents and such on my phone) so is there a method I can use for that? If not, what would be the best root option for my specific device?
Also, I don't need TWRP for what I want to do, only rooting so I can have Magisk and get Google Pay working again.
