Overall the phone is pretty fast but the fingerprint scanner is very slow compared to the S7 physical home button scanner. Even the PIN entry on lock screen is a bit slow

Thanks for sharing.. how do you rate the speed compared to oneplus devices?

speed is okay, fingerprint is okay, I combine it with face unlock, anyhow WiFi reception is weaker than note 9..
overall speed is good, 8gb ram helps too.
camera in low light is almost the same as my note 9.
amoled screen quality is below note 9 amoled.

I don't have a OnePlus device to compare but many review sites mention that OnePlus fingerprint scanner is better.

It's a fast device, in Antutu scores just a little more than a Note 10+ and that is amazing at 600$ price.

This device is fast almost as OnePlus 7, storage is really fast also, fingerprint not the best but solid performance.

Coming from a Honor 7 and comparing it to an iphone 7 plus that i have access to, i am very happy with it's overall working speed.
I am not into mobile gaming and even less interested in benchmark results, but use my smartphone quite often for all kind of everyday tasks these little computers were made for. I "measure" the working speed only by my perceived grade of annoyment when waiting for something to happen.
Starting the camera sometimes annoys me, guessing it takes sometimes around 4-5 seconds (not a snapshot device, even with hotkey on voldown button) besides that nothing to complain in terms of speed. I am really impressed by price/performance of this device.
In short... Yes
Not super but satisfactory.
I tried out a friends phone with this SoC. Works fine, still kinda sad that it's not really battery efficient.
Color
No mention of its speed, I love the color Sapphire Blue!

Tab S4 isn't out yet of course, and there's always the issue of how bloated/optimized Samsung Experience 9.0 will be
that said, in benchmarks, Snapdragon 835 > Kirin 960/Kirin 960s

The MIUI skin is heavy, running AOSP the M5 feels very fluid. Ah, benchmarks... ya they sell lots of stuf that's for sure.
I think it is super fast emui gets a bad rap it's not half as bad as most people say
I upgraded from M2 8" LTE to M5 8" LTE and the speed between this devices is like day and night, M5 is flying
Got this to replace a K1 Shield, this is so much quicker starting up!
Good, but in heavy games there are frame drops. 250GFlops isn't enough for 2560*1600
*edit* I charged it and it is performing brilliantly! Maybe it doesn't like being at 10%

Same situation here, I was super satisfied with the Shield, unbeatable price/performance but I hope this fares well in comparison.
Just bought it yesterday, because the GPS in my Shield died completely.
The GPS is not amazing based on first tests, but I have yet to test it properly, in the car.
Performance so far was not astonishing, but a lot of downloads ran in the background, just downloaded the software update, and it wasn't charged fully, SW Galaxy of heroes was lagging a lot in the menu already...hopefully it's going to be better. :fingers-crossed:

I currently have the Honor View 10 that uses the same SoC, memory and very similar software. My daily use has been great and I've never faced clutters or slow downs in the performance. The battery life is also top notch, thanks in large to the under the hood optimisations in the EMUI 8.0
Overall speed and performance really good.. No lag no slow down..
I have been using it from a couple of days and its performance is fine and no lags till now. And BTW mine is a 4GB variant.
For me is good. I'm satisfied for heavy business use.
For the price, this phone has exceptional performance. It can easily be compared to some of the other top flagships from around its release date. The Kirin 970 paired with 4GB of RAM and plenty to keep everything running smoothly.
Honor 10's overall speed is excellent. Even after 2 years of use. I look on social networks, write articles for a my webmaster blog from my phone, take pictures. No complaints.

Phone is fast and reliable. No frame drop outs and other annoying problems. User experience is on pair with my previous phone - iPhone 7.
I`m coming from my old HTC One E9+ and in compare this A7 is fast as hell.
Btw recently I had to setup new Samsung S8 for a colleague and in all honesty I have not feel any real performance differences between them. The software and the available settings were 1:1 except few little things. The gps of A7 is better than S8 as it is able to see and use more satellites but S8 manage to lock coordinates faster. Well, there is the usb-c port, way better camera, the screen was little bit brighter at 100% but still S8 is twice the price of A7 here.

It may not feature the latest chip, but it's a lot more responsive than my S8. Apps install quickly and open at a good speed. Ignoring games this phone is pretty consistent.
I'd say it offers speed comparable to a 2019 device, like I haven't found myself missing my LG G8.
Yeah. It doesn't burn my fingers at all, you know, when I use it, but, where some grunt counts the phone has it. If I put animations to .5 it just gets to be too much, as in, fuk'n quit acting faster than I can think, phone. It ain't slow.
