Thx

Anybody got an answer to this? Would highly appreciate it

Check "Google Maps app, go to Settings > Navigation > Play voice during voice calls"

Use MS Voice command.... probably already installed on your phone.
Go to your settings tab then all settings... under the personal tab you should see "Voice Command"
Make sure it's enabled and check what you want to use it with.... ie contacts. once thats done go to notifications and select whatever option you want... probably announce notifications through bluetooth hands free if available or the 3rd option just below that.
Once that is checked when someone calls it will announce their names.
That said, back in the personal settings tab go to the button options and select one of the buttons you can configure to be voice command. That way when you press and hold say, your call button, you'll hear a ding and you can then tell it to call so and so in your contacts or play media, or speak next appointment etc.

[Q] Hangouts - voice-only calls

Not really relevant to the Mako specifically, but anyone know if voice-only calls on Google Hangouts default to the "ear speaker" when connected? On GTalk they would always default to speakerphone and I'd have to manually set it to "use handset earpiece." On Gingerbread phones there isn't even an option to set it to "use handset earpiece." I don't need the whole world to hear the other side of my convo if I'm placing a voice-only call.
BBM is smart enough to default to the "ear speaker" if you choose not to enable video in a call. I hope Google learned from that...

"Voice Notifications" and improving their sound

Hello,
I am using a rooted (stock) LG G2. I like the Voice Notifications (under Settings > Sound) feature, which reads aloud who is calling. It used to work perfectly, but just all of a sudden, the voice's pronunciation became all screwy. When Lisa is calling, is says "Liza." When Denise calls, it says "Denize." When Joe calls, it says "Joe-ie." When James calls, it says "Jame-es." And so on.
Is there a way to improve the voice when it is reading the callers' names?
I am on 4.2.2.

[Q] How do I turn off the callers name being announced?

How do I turn off the callers name being announced?
When my friend calls me it shouts "incoming call from bla bla!"
I used "my backup pro" to copy phone settings across, has this caused a glitch?
Any help appreciated
Cheers

I have tried
Accessibility > Vision > Talkback > Settings (at bottom) > Under Speech Category - Untick Speak Caller ID
Accessibility - vision - talk back - off
Language and input -notification readout - ALL ARE GREYED OUT but CHECKED???
“using voice commands” (call-call settings -answering/ending calls ) OFF
-
None of these things work
the voice is REALLY loud like 100% volume
Any Ideas
I enabled and disabled car mode too
funny thing was the car mode button was missing until i reset the top icons
Did "my Backup Pro" cause these unusual errors?
There was some glitchey odd numbers and stuff in my sent messages log from my backup pro
I just want to get my phone ringing without announcing at full volume

Google Voice & Android Wear

Is there a way to send SMS messages, receive incoming Google Voice call notifications or make Google Voice calls yet? Seems like this is something that Google would want to support for users like me who use a data only plan with Google Voice with Hangouts as their primary phone service like myself.

The only way I know is to get SMS messages on the watch (and call notifications) from Google Voice. Answering the call on your watch, routes it to your phone, not your watch.
Here is how you do it.
Sideload "Hangouts for Wear OS" from apkmirror[dot]com (can't post links yet)
Open Hangouts on your computers web browser.
Enable voice in the settings.
Enable the contacts permission on your watch, under the system settings.
Open Hangouts.
Restart Phone.
Install Hangouts on your phone.
