full tablet encryption possible? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Questions & Answers

Hi there,
is it possible to encrypt the tablet using the stock rom? Can't find the option in the settings, only to encrypt the sd card.

It's encrypted by default:
Settings >> Biometrics & Security >> Other Security Settings >> Strong Protection

Maybe they meant FDE rather than just the FBE that most new devices use?

No, the encryption of Galaxy Tab S5e is definitely File-based one (FBE) because no Secure Startup menu is available...
or just type getprop ro.crypto.type in Termux and you can see the answer (file)

Yeah, most new devices are FBE. My thought was the OP was asking for a way to enable FDE. However you could be right FBE confuses some users as they don't realize the device is still encrypted as it doesn't ask for a password on boot.

I've got FDE on my S9, didn't know FBE existed. Thanks for clarifying things for me!

Turn off device encryption / decrypt device

Hi all, could anyone who already has the PRIV have a look at the security settings and see if it's possible to turn off phone encryption / decrypt the phone? Please post a screenshot of the settings menu too.
THANK you very much!
No, it's not possible. The build does not provide the option to remove encryption.

Can't disable password

Hi, I recently got some problems with my device.
Q1: I want to disable password on my device, but once I try to I can't click on "None" and it says: "Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage", what does this mean, and how can I still disable passwords?
Edit:My second question is fixed already

Does the Nougat version for the MPXE support file-based encryption?

From what I can gather in order to activate file-based (vs. whole disk) encryption on Nougat (in cases where the device was not originally delivered with Nougat from the manufacturer) is to use the 'Convert to file based encryption' selection under Developer Options. But... that menu item does not exist under Developer Options on my MPXE. Supposedly there is a also way to set it with fastboot ('fastboot --wipe-and-use-fbe') but this option is not available in fastboot either even though I am using the latest fastboot version available from Google (version 4022467).
Does anyone know how (or if it is even possible) to enable file-based encryption on Android 7.0 for the MPXE?
TIA

Decrypt Device and Secure startup

Anyone knows what is the deal with the options in the "lock screen and security" settings in nougat?
My S7 edge has the options for secure folder and secure startup.
I see other phones have the option to "encrypt device".
Please see the attached images.
Why is this happening and how can I get the option to "encrypt" my device?
Thanx.

Your device is already encrypted, hence no option. Encrypt option only appears on rooted devices which have encryption removed.

Thank you my friend. That makes sense.

ROMs and full encryption status

Hi,
I'm using Lineage 16 from Haky. Is there any way to enable full phone encryption ?
In case this is not possible, is there any custom ROM supporting it ?
To be more precise, i'd like to sync some personal datas with my phone. I'm using SyncMe Wireless, which is not encrypting saves. Is there another way (ie with a local vault) to encrypt theses datas on the fly ?
Thank you !

Nope, you're wrong.
You can check the encryption status in Parameters -> Security & Localisation -> advanced options -> Encryption and logins.
