I am wondering if I can change the basebands/modem from my D801 T mobile G2 to work with the international D802 basebands since I am moving to germany. Can we just flash a new modem to get different LTE bands since it's a S800, as qualcomm said the first world LTE processor?

Not that i'm aware of. Check the tmo bands and see if they are compatible with the common german carriers. Otherwise I would just sell your G2 on swappa and purchase another.

It's not possible to change the bands a phone operates under. Here are the bands the different versions use (taken from Wikipedia) so you can check if the 801 will work with whichever carrier you're planing on going with.
AT&T - D800

If i buy S7edge Verizon (Sd820) can i use it in india.Verizon bands are 2'4&13. However i heard that verizon lte phomes are unlocked. Can i use in india lte network(Jio or Airtwl LTE network.

you have to add lte bands by qxdm method or you shouldn't buy the varizon device.

Decided to pull the trigger and do this following a guide on Youtube. I used firmware G935VVRU2APD2 and followed this how-to https://youtu.be/WVzXvMa5FQ4 and everything worked out perfect.
Hi, I have a korean LG G6 G600L model. I am based in Germany and use the T-Mobile (DTAG) network. LTE Band 3 works but I would like to check the LTE band list on the device itself. Does somebody know the network test menu code for this specific device/network?
Additionally is it theoretically possible to exchange the modem driver to enable additional LTE bands (Band 20 in my case) ? Is it only possible with root?
Happy to test stuff on this device as I would really like to keep it and improve the LTE reception. I love the DAC btw.

Do you think if i flash a different firmware (H870) in my mobile (G600L) i can receipt UMTS 900 ?
It will not help u to add WCDMA b8 900 to supported bands, because:
1. Korean submodels probably have no hardware antenna support for this band, which is totally unusable in Korea;
2. U will not be able to flash another submodel's stock to Korean models without root and some rom cooking preparations, flasher just restricts u to flash another submodel's stock;
3. In case u modify another submodel's stock enough to sucesfully flash it to Korean model, but without Korean kernel, modem and specific patches - it will probably softbrick ur device.

So I can confirm that G600L is not only showing the bands but also work with them. Band20 and 3 successfully tested here in Germany. Now if it would be possible to configure VoLTE with T-Mobile or cross-flash the german firmware but still keep the DAC would be perfect for me...
Looks like the Korean version has the most international 4G LTE Bands. The rest of the models in Asia barely have any 4G LTE Bands. Not sure what is used with this. Is the Korean version a dual sim version as well? Anyone have a picture of the box of the Korean version? There is usually a sticker on there that shows which 4G LTE bands are supported on box

how did you bring up that menu with all the bands? I have the lg h870ds model with hifi dac and 64 gig, but I can't locate the LTE bands to turn them on

Which model of LG V20 should I get? It seems like I should get the H918 model, since it supports the most LTE bands that my carrier uses, and I have no plans of switching anytime time (6 year old grandfathered plan of $30 CAD for 5GB Data, Unlimted Canada Text, Unlimited Province Call), but are any of the other models worth getting because they have an additional feature, don't have a flaw in the design, etc.?
I also plan to root the device and install a third party ROM (something as close to AOSP as possible), if that matters.

Get the h915 v20 as it is the Canada-wide model.
Even though most sites don't list the h915 bands, it does have band 66 lte that connects with freedom mobile as well as band 4 and 7 lte.
The h915 also support WiFi calling with freedom mobile. No other v20 can do that.
Do you think it'll matter that I won't have "extended range LTE" (LTE band 13) with the H915 model, but I would with the H918 model? I guess I probably couldn't get any other additional LTE bands, even with a different ROM (as was possible back in 2013 with Qualcomm chips)?

freedom mobile is very picky on who can connect to band 13. Only the current newer phones carried by them that support band 13 will connect to band 13.
If you are looking at h918 to get on band 13 on freedom mobile, that won't be happening as it will just connect to band 4, 7 and maybe 66.
If you are going to use v20 rooted, then the h915 firmware won't work as rooted so I converted my h915 phone to us996 firmware rooted so it now it only connects to band 4 and 7 LTE. So using firmwares that isn't h915 will lack wifi calling with freedom mobile.

Darn, this is really sad news. This is really making me think twice about getting the V20.
I tried looking around for de-bloated and/or AOSP Roms for the H915, but it seems like there are none. Is this true? Am I really forced to downgrade to one of the other firmwares, that are not the H918/H915?

Yes the h915 doesn't have rom development because the h915 firmware can't be used rooted. However if you use it unrooted, it will run fine on freedom mobile with wifi calling. It is currently on the oreo update.
If you choose to root the h915, you have to convert the phones firmware to us996 firmware to be able to have cellular data working.
From then you are free to use roms built for the us996 and the options are open.
So its ether you use the h915 unrooted with working wifi calling and band 66 or to use it rooted, convert the h915 into us996 firmware to use updated roms.

What about the H918? Does the H918 have supported ROM's (based on stock and AOSP)? Is it fine to root? I'm fine with not having Wifi Calling on the H918.

Yeah h918 rooting uses the laf exploit to unlock the bootloader.
H918 has roms support and aosp.

Regarding the H918, I also read somewhere that there is an "anti roll back tripped in a update." Is this true? Does that mean that I can't downgrade the O.S? Also, is there any downsides to getting the H918, compared to any other models? Will it support band 66 on Freedom? Will there be anything missing (aside from wifi Calling)?

Yes there is arb (anti rollback) but that just means u can only downgrade to the same arb version of firmware. So any arb version 1 can be downgraded on older arb 1 but not on an older arb 0 version or else it bricks.
I know h918 will connect to band 4 and 7 no problem but can't guarantee band 66.

No, arb is a fuse.
As for checking bands, download app called network cell info lite and it will tell u what band it connects to.

I can confirm that I'm connected on the H918 to Freedom band 66 almost exclusively in Edmonton.
I've been looking for a good, inexpensive phone my partner can use on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon and I was able to snatch an unlocked VS995 in excellent condition for $70--it just needs the battery replaced soon which I also ordered. The main downside to this model if you're using it on AT&T and T-Mobile is that it doesn't support Band 12 and 17, but I know the US Unlocked variant does. I just received the phone today. I've been searching on the forum for an answer into if this is possible with the VS995 variant and I've seen people say it is using an LG V20 version of LGUP, but haven't found anyone that's confirmed they've been able to do it on the Verizon and not the AT&T variant and the steps they took to do so.
I want to stay on the stock ROM so I'm not looking to root and install a custom one. Is it possible to convert from the VS995 firmware to US996 so I can gain band 12 and 17 while removing the Verizon bloatware and staying on the stock ROM/OS? If so, would anyone one of y'all be kind enough to post the link to a guide or article that details how to do so? I reset the phone to factory settings so thankfully don't have to do a backup. After doing this, is it still possible to receive OTA updates and, if so, are they gonna mess anything up like reverting the phone to stock firmware or the phone's unlocked status?

I have a vs995 and I flashed it with US996_usa and working great. You need to download the us996 usa version (2.3GB KDZ) at lg-firmwares dot com and flash it with LGUP PATCHED. There is video on Youtube giving detailed instructions. You will be able to find all these easily via google. I don't know how any of this works with the various US carriers or bands as I'm in europe.

As far as I'm aware, cross-flashing firmware on the V20 won't give you any additional frequency bands unlike some other phones, so you're still limited to what the VS995 has from the beginning. From what I've read, US996 firmware works fine on Verizon except for a few features such as WiFi calling and video calling.
As for AT&T and T-Mobile, you won't get VoLTE or WiFi calling along with the missing LTE bands, so, depending on where you live, overall coverage could be significantly worse than having the H910 (AT&T) and H918 (T-Mobile) models, respectively. Not having VoLTE would be a problem if you were in an LTE-only area without roaming because then you'd have no way to make or receive phone calls.

Thank you for the info. Are you referring to this video? I'd watched it before but it's for flashing the stock ROM on a US996 variant and the links in the description don't work.

Hmm, where did you read that? From what I've read the hardware/modem in the VS995 and US996 version is the same and therefore the difference only comes down to the carrier firmware artificially disabling bands the device supports just like it is on many other smartphones. I could be wrong, but one way to find out would be to do it myself and then try to connect to a Band 12 or 17 tower.
WiFi calling and video calling I'm totally fine with not having. Never used or needed them. With AT&T and Cricket I've never not had service and with Metro the couple times I haven't had T-Mobile service roaming has kicked in and saved the day. Thank you for the info.

Here's some frequency band info for both the VS995 and US996:

I'm pretty sure this is a hardware difference, and no firmware change will be able to add more band support unlike some other phones you may have heard about (such as recent U.S. models of Samsung phones). Otherwise, there would have been plenty of discussions and guides around here regarding this (and FWIW, I happen to own a US996, LS997, and H918).
As for LTE Band 12 on the T-Mobile network, only phones that are certified by T-Mobile will be able to access it (more info on compatible phones here). So even though a US996 has the hardware for connecting to Band 12, you wouldn't be able to use it since T-Mobile has blocked access to it and only allows it for the H918 model.
Based on all this, I would expect a VS995 to get LTE Bands 2, 4, and 5 on AT&T and T-Mobile. Of course, since you already have the phone, there's only one way to find out. Just make sure you carefully read the guides/procedures about using LGUP for cross-flashing, and absolutely stay away from any H918 firmware (it will instantly kill any V20 that is not an actual H918). Yes, but the Frequency Check website only looks at firmware differences, not the internal hardware. I decided to do some further digging and went to the source that tests these (the FCC) and found that the VS995 and US996 have the same ZNFVS995 FCC ID meaning they share the same internal hardware. Verizon just decided they wanted to be arseholes and cripple the phone's band support in their firmware so it wouldn't work to the best of its abilities on T-Mobile's and AT&T's network. Similarly, T-Mobile decided to also be arseholes by artificially limiting Band 12/VoLTE support to their own H918 model only. I hate that carriers are able to get away with this BS. It is incredibly anti-consumer and infuriating. If the hardware supports XYZ then it should be enabled and capable of taking advantage of it. The FCC tested Band 12/17 to work properly on these and says regarding the device's capabilities:
This device contains the following capabilities: 850/1900 CDMA (BC0, BC1), 850/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 850/1700/1900 WCDMA/HSPA, Multi-band LTE, 802.11b/g/n/ac WLAN, 802.11a/n/ac UNII, Bluetooth (1x, EDR, LE), NFC LTE Band 12 (698 - 716 MHz) overlaps the entire frequency range of LTE Band 17 (704 - 716 MHz). Seriously, f*ck both Verizon and T-Mobile. Thankfully I'm starting my Cricket/AT&T service in a week so I'll be able to test if it can pick up and use Band 12/17. You happen to know of any app or way to force/limit the device to only using one specific LTE band? Thank you so much for linking to that thread for flashing these using LGUP. I'll make sure to follow it and to download the US996 (US Unlocked, not US Cellular) firmware and post a small update on my findings. Thank you so much for all the info. Really appreciate it.

While I've never tried this, have a look at this old thread on LTE band selection from a hidden menu. The dialer code differs by model, so for a VS995 it would be *#546368#*995# and for a US996 *#546368#*996#. The code works for my US996 and H918 on Oreo but not for my LS997 on Nougat (for which there is a separate APK file to access the hidden menu). There are lots of submenus and items in there, so be sure not to accidentally change settings that you're not supposed to.

Android 8.
I know Android 9 does not have FM radio because Android 9 is only available for the Korean variant (F800) and it never had FM in the first place.

I have heard about converting a vs995 to a us996. How do you do this i have a vs995 and patched lg up do i use the upgrade option or partion dl?

All of them seems to work fine.
Will this work in terms of flashing us unlocked firmware or my Verizon LG v20 (vs995) I rooted it successfully, but when I flash these firmware files, the phone is in a bootloop. US996 twrpable zips
