Mokee100.0 for z17 - ZTE Nubia Z17 Questions & Answers

Since there is no thread for this just yet, and I noticed they started doing nightly builds voor android 10 based mokee, I figured it was time for it's own thread...
any thoughts inputs? no one posted about this on xda yet... but I noticed @Spencer_D for instance already gave it a shot (saw your post on the mokee forums, not gonna link to that though )
so I'm curious about your findings, and that of anyone that might have tried to give this a shot... I'm eager to try it myself, but is google apps available for android 10, or would gapps 9.x work?
anyone still hapyp with their z17 or is everyone looking for a newer phone, with more developers? ^_^

It is not ready for being my daily drive.

I haven't tried it myself, since I didn't find a tutorial on how this new completely SAR Android should be installed... Read some stuff that held me back, and also the fact that it isn't ready to be used as daily driver held me back... Still on mokee 9 due to the lack of alternatives...

It is flashed with no problems. The main problems are: battery life, no root (boot can't be signed after magisk installed, many twrp versions tried), strange autobrightness at some light conditions, some apps fc.

So you're back on mokee 10?
Or where you talking about lineage os when you say it can easily be rooted?
And the issue with bitgapps? Opengapps not working?

2. "It can easily be rooted" is about mokee 10 (people say they have problems with root on mokee 10. Me not)
3. On mokee 10 I had no problems with bitgapps (no face unlock though coz google deleted it from Q gapps)

So is it true that on mokee 10 you need to hold the volume up key to boot into rooted version? And magisk needs to be installed to recovery?

Most stable Custom ROM to date?

So I just upgraded from Moto X Play to Moto X Style and I was wondering, Other than the stock ROM, what is the most stable ROM right now? I'm thinking of jumping from stock ROM to custom ROM, can any of you give me an advice of which ROM should I flash?
Thanks in advance

Well if u say my suggestion then try rr nougat or give a shot to cm 14.1
I use aicp because cm14.1 has stopped the development and maintainer of that thread is currently merging through Lineageos which usually takes time (even lineageos is not out till now officially)
Cm 14.1 has multi window which aicp doesn't have but aicp is ahead of cm14.1 for weeklies
U try by ur own...

AICP is very fast and very stable with most everything working well. My only issue is camera performance but I may be in the minority with that issue.

How bug free is it? How about the battery life? Do you get around 3-4 SOT with normal usage? This got me curious as i am also finding a great ROM to suit my needs.

I never had any problems at all, battery life is better than most 3rd part roms but not quite stock (Moto knows how to optimize a rom), about 3 hours or so over a full day.
Again, I'll say the same thing as others, try them out, it's easy to do.

BrokenOS devs don't allow links to be shared here...
How could you not find it with Google, just type BrokenOS and that's it and the first two results are the official Google+ group and their website called Dysfunctional ROMs... Easy from there.

This is a lot more stable then the majority of 8.0.0 ROMs out right now for the OP3/T, with the exception being Validus I think. Do you know how to swap back button with recent apps? I don't natively use my phone the way the ROM has it set by default, but I am sure I can get used to it. Couldn't find anything in settings.

For Validus I use the official GZOSP GAPPS they link in the thread which work flawlessly. For anything else I use ARM64 8.0 Pico from OpenGAPPs
The only problem I currently have with Validus is the battery drain. Once Paranoid Android or Dirty Unicorns comes out with Android 8.0 I will probably use those ROMs.

Stable Gapps for 8.1 Oreo?

Hi all,
Need a little advice on where people are getting their Gapps for 8.1, not sure how many people here are running oreo on the axon 7 but thought it might be worth asking?
The Gapps package that im using now has just broken completely after a week or so of use, the google app, keyboard, maps, dialer(!) are all constantly crashing. And i dont believe its a problem with the rom, which is RR Oreo by Nfound if it matters.
Anybody got a reliable package?
Me and my wife both have axon 7, both are U models. Both have Aex Oreo by Nfound. wife has 24022018 build, i have previous build. We both have the unofficial Gapps build, recommended on the Aex thread. My phone runs stable, my wife Gapps keeps crashing.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's an odd thing. I just completely reflashed the rom and a (few days) newer GApps release, and so far so good?
Kinda scared to leave it though, as I need the phone to ya know work so hopefully it was just something small.
Come to think of it though Nfound could do with a support thread for the RR Oreo.
I flashed the same Gapps release on both phones.
i've downloaded yesterday from this topic
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/arm-unofficial-opengapps-builds-android-t3743495
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1IY1JrNDlkk7OjXutlX3zGeASfWpSsRdl
you can try them, the arm versions are working absolut stable on my n7, didn't try the arm 64 for the axon 7.
Try "MindTheGapps". They work fine on mine 8.1 builds. https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=170282

I currently have Unlegacy Android 7.1.2 June 2020 build installed, but i'm planning to downgrade. Is omni roms a derivative of some other rom or is it independent? I don't like Lineage OS 13 and Slim 6 is a derivative of LOS. I have not tried omni 6 as of now.
I just got this tablet from a friend. I tried factory reset on the existing stock rom it had, I installed 4 different custom roms and I then went back to stock rom(4.2.2). This thing is so friggin laggy. Was there ever a time(rom) that this thing worked properly? I just want it for browsing, and it takes FOREVER to load a page(if it loads at all). As is, it is a useless piece of junk.
yeah I've just found it inside a closed. Flashed a few "newish roms" and it lags a lot even in the UI and random issues like Missing the top menu until I go into settings.
Will try to go back to 4.x and see if it lags there too. I remember it to be usable once booted.
It seems to heat a lot. Don't know if these things have a thermal paste.
edit cm11 2020 update works ok. but i need 5.0 up
try slim roms. i just flashed 6.0 and seems fine, 2020 security updates on andi's website

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. Out of those 4 custom roms you've tried, were any of them based off android 6? If all of them were android 7 based, then there's the problem. As of now, any custom rom based off android 7 are unstable. If you want stability, then go with Unlegacy Android 6, Lineage OS 13, Slim6 and Omni6(highly recommended).

Slim 6 is like the worst for me
And the heating isn't exactly the rarest thing for this thing. If you want to sacrifice some of the apps you may use that require gapps then ditch google services entirely it improves performance and battery
Then for YouTube use vanced and for the app store use aurora

I'm not too sure about it since i flashed gapps, but you would have to flash f droid apk with TWRP. Aurora Store is what you'd use to download the file manager

I currently have Unlegacy Android 7.1.2 June 2020 build installed, but i'm planning to downgrade. Is omni roms a derivative of some other rom or is it independent? I don't like Lineage OS 13 and Slim 6 is a derivative of LOS. I have not tried omni 6 as of now.

slim 6 is the worst rom for me by far i think omni is independent

Download F Droid apk with another device such as a pc or another android. Send the apk to a micro sd card and put in your GT2.
If your GT2 have TWRP, use it to flash F Droid apk.
If successful, download Aurora Store via F Droid.
I always went with gapps, so these instructions are not 100% accurate, i hope i could help you out.
