Phone freezes, then restarts when battery is lowish - Google Pixel 4 Questions & Answers

Hey all,
The first time this happened a few days ago I thought it was a fluke, but the problem has now happened twice. Watching youtube with my battery ~7%, the phone froze, and proceeded to reboot itself. Upon turning back on, it showed 6%,. It quickly drained within 5-10 minutes to 0%, and then shut off. Today I was writing a hangouts message with 5% battery left and same thing happens. Phone froze for a few seconds, then force restarted itself. Booted back up and showed 4% battery, then quickly drained to 0% in minutes and turned off. It is weird as the system is turning itself back on, so it realizes the battery isn't actually dead... but the battery is reaching a point where it is low enough to cause the system to meltdown (maybe the OS is throttling itself?)
The first few days I got the phone I also noticed early shutoff, where the phone would actually run out of battery while still displaying 6-8% still remaining. Also frustratingly, when my phone enters "battery saver mode" at 15%, it very often causes my foreground all to refresh itself in RAM, especially if the app has a "dark mode" battery saver option. Not sure if this last bit is normal or not, but it interrupts whatever I am doing.
Any thoughts? The battery life is OK otherwise with 3-4 hours SOT.

[Q] Battery Mystery

The battery on this phone has been great. I have been charging it only if it is below 20% when I go to sleep. Typically every 2, 3, or even 4 days. Last night it was at the end of its 2nd day of light use and the battery was at 57%. I turned sound off and left it on but not charging. This morning the phone was off. When started I got the critical battery message and it showed 2%. Plugged phone in to charge and then the battery level immediately went to 56%.
Any ideas what could have triggered the phone to think the battery was at 2% and shut down?
Battery screen in settings shows the 56% level too. Shows on for 2 days and 6 hours - screen use 33%, cell standby 20% and the rest looks normal... Except that it shows wifi at only 3% of use. This seems odd as the phone has been on my wifi system more than half of the 2+ days. Shows connected to it now. Does 3% for wifi make sense?
Thanks!

I've not seen that behaviour on my Note 3, but I seen something similar on my Galaxy nexus that turned out to be the micro-USB pin had been slightly bent out of shape, causing the thing to occasionally think it was charging when it wasn't and other weird stuff.
OK - Thanks. That is definitely something different. In my case the phone thought it was at 2% and shut itself off. Then when I powered up the phone, it gave the critical battery warning and said it was at 2%. Then immediately upon plugging in to the charger, it said it was at 56%. I then unplugged the phone and it has been fine since. So the powering off and the 2% warning was in error. Strange. If nobody has seen this behavior before or has any idea why it might do this, I guess I will just think of it as a misfire of some sort and hope it does not happen again.

it seems to be software bug.
Flash Stock ROM or repair it by kies
:good:
Try cycling the battery. (drain till it won't come on, charge with the phone turned off, turn on at 100%)

[Q] S5 Dead Overnight

I have the SM-G901F version, 805 processor.
I finished charging my device last night at 100% and took it off before sleep, all was well. I woke up this morning, and it was dead at 0%.
Something similar has happened twice in the past and that is the screen refusing to turn on, and when it does it jitters a lot and says a certain app has crashed. The first time THIS happened, it said nova launcher crashed. The second time, same day, I locked the device while still in whatsapp and the same thing above happened but this time it said WhatsApp crashed, this leads me to believe it's not Nova launcher causing it but you never know. During the time of these crashes when the screen was off, I had rapid battery drain.
This is why I think overnight something like this happened, and since I didn't try and wake it up like the other two times the battery continued to drain. However, I have attached an image of the battery info suggesting that the phone app caused this.
*I close all apps before sleeping, all the time.
*Data off, blocking mode on.
*Never leave it on charge over night
*UK device, only had it for about 1 month.
...
android doesn't need apps to be closed manually.
sometimes its better to backup all your data and start fresh mate. that's will isolate the problem a bit more.

My battery is crazy.

Howdy!
I think my battery is fooling me around.
Quick context:
- It's a Galaxy Tab 4, 10.1", model SM-T530.
- Android version 5.0.2.
- I received it at Chirstmas in December 2014. I barely used it until June (by that I mean maybe used it 5 times for 20 minutes). The point I'm making: I did not overwhelm or overuse it.
The problem:
I've just opened my eyes and realised some oddities... And since yesterday, I'm "actively investigating" my battery, reading a lot and "gathering data".
First thing, battery strangely draining:
Today when I switched on my Tablet, it was a 65%. I used it from 12:51 to 12:59 and it was then at 52%. I was just playing a game called "Final Fantasy Record Keeper" which does not seem to be too heavy (regarding the graphics). I put the Tablet to sleep by pressing the power button as usual.
Then I had to leave, 30 minutes after, I'm at my desk, I take out the Tablet and it's now at 42%. The tablet was in sleep mode all the time (I have a password so it wasn't possible to switch on and stay on).
I play some more and decide to use a stop watch. The battery drained from 42% to 15% really quickly, with on average around 30 seconds between each percent.
I put the Tablet to sleep again.
A couple of minutes after, I check and it's at 11%.
It takes me 30 seconds to get the cable and plug the charger. Before I plug the Tablet to the charger, I can see the battery percentage plummeting 9%... 5%... 4%... 3%... In a couple of seconds...
I plug the Tablet in.
3% to 5% in a glimpse, 8%, 9%...
Second thing, battery strangely charging:
After 1h09min, it's at 66%
After 1h44min, it's at 72%
After 2h15min, it's at 78%
After 2h46min, it's at 81%
After 3h20min, it's at 84%
After 3h39min, it's at 87%
After 4h09min, it's at 90%
After 4h21min, it's at 92%
After 5h10min, it's at 94%
After 5h18min, it's at 100%
As I don't use my Tablet often, just for hobbies, I generally just put to charge overnight and I never really checked the charging speed.
This is the first "set of data" I can provide, I will definitely look cautiously into that in the following days, hopefully under some insight from you.
Note:
I was all day with Wifi on. Even when it was charging. Everything else is off. And when I use it, the brightness of the screen is always on the lowest possible level.
Thank you very much for your first diagnosis!
Have a good day/night,
I also have that tablet but the 530nu variant and i have similar issues and even weirder i just shut it off as it was at 5% plugged it in and it said 0% charger on the powered down battery screen. Turned it back on not 2 minutes later and magically it was at 93%. Just to summarize it went from 0-93% in ,literally , 2 minutes of charging and while writting this and a few othet things, about 10 minutes since powered on its only dropped one percent. How do i access the system battery files? I am rooted so i can get into any file i want.
Sent from my SM-T530NU using Tapatalk
I have SM-335 and I have been trying to charge it for the last two days and all what I managed to achieve is 56% I have not been using it, mostly trying to get it fully charged. I noticed when checking the battery usage that WiFi was draining the battery, even when switched off to charge!!!! The other functions, like mobile network signal is constant and off when the tablet is off but WiFi bar is solid, even when the device was off. Charging is intermittent too although the cable was connected most of the time.... Next step I try is hard reset but this can't be the only solution
I had that problem on my t535. From 100 to 0 in 2-3 hours. Then when i turn it on after some time, it shows 1% but tablet works for about 5 hours on that 1%, or if i connect charger without turning on it shows 0% but when i turn tablet on it shows about 90%. I asked Samsung for new device, and i got it. Now is different story, my 6800mah battery charges in about 3:40-4 hours, and lasts about 9-10 hours(screen on time). I think thats hardware problem, because they wouldnt gave me new device if it was software problem.

Battery Suddenly Shutting Down Before 0% (Possible Solution)

Battery Suddenly Shutting Down Before 0% (Possible Solution)
Ok so after a bit of playing around I have seamed to rid of the battery cut off at 15% - 20% and so on.
As I was doing the battery reclab I noticed when I drained the battery and the phone would turn off, then restart the phone it would boot alittle then shut off. Then I'd plug it in with phone Off and the display would show an instant charging percentage of around 5% -10% -15% . I noticed the battery was not discharged to 0%.
What I did was boot into recovery and keept the screen on for as long as it needed till the battery really died and the screen turned off. I was surprised how much battery was left. Depending on your battery. It took me around 30min to die.
After that I then plugged it in to do a full charge with phone off.
Let battery die again boot back to recovery and keep screen on Antill screen shutoff.
Do full charge again.
Antill you see your battery shut off at normal 0%.
I did this twice. You may need to do it more depending on your battery state.
Give it a go. Who knows it may work for you.
Good luck

I had luck doing something similar in TWRP.
My issue is my battery still only reports about 75% or the capacity that it should.
Waiting for my replacement from Google.
I need a good battery in my phone and 75% in a "like new" replacement is not going to cut it.

Second Hand Mi A1 randomly reboots

Hey, I just got a second hand Mi A1 that randomly reboots. At first, I thought that this was a battery problem. The first time it started rebooting was after a reset. It showed that there was 10% of battery remaining but it just powered off. Then when I charged it again, it started charging from 1% and on 56% (It showed 56% on the off screen) when I turned it on, it showed that there was 71% (Instead of 56%). But I then later used the phone to 0% and then charged it to a 100% (Somewhat calibrated the battery) it shows the percentages just right. But now I notice that there are random reboots. For instance I was browsing online and received a call and it immediately rebooted (The battery percentage was fine). Could this be a battery issue? Perhaps a software issue? Any ideas cause I'm lost,
