Brand new T510. I followed [GUIDE][SM-T510/T515]Unlock/TWRP/Odin HowTo/Root - Tab A 10.1 (2019) and successfully rooted the device with stock ROM and Magisk.
Then something strange happened. When I open My Files app, the internal storage showed about 10 folders with weird names, all empty. I deleted all those folders and it showed an empty folder. I then went on to install some apps.
However, I then realized that the internal storage is really not available in most of cases. My Files showed (17.56GB / 128GB) but when I tried to create a folder it will say "there is not enough space in internal storage. Delete some files and try again."
All the normal folders are not there, like Download etc.
What can I try to fix this?

The data partition is encrypted and TWRP can't handle it. After flashing TWRP, you need to format the data partition by clicking Wipe and then Format data. When asked to verify, type "yes" and NOT just "y". After doing this, reboot to recovery and you'll see Internal Storage is no longer a "0".
Before doing any of this, be aware that formatting the data partition will erase EVERYTHING on it, including any saved pictures, movies, music and all apps. So be sure to back you data up to another device or the external SD card before you start.

I flashed my i9500 with TWRP 2.8.1.0 using Odin and it wrote an undeletable backup onto my internal memory. To get rid of that, I backed up the "BACKUPS" folder and formatted the internal storage only for it now to cause the entire internal storage to be write protected to my android apps. I can copy and delete stuff to it through PC but my apps wont work, those that require to download pics and videos or make backups to the internal storage, web browsers can't download anything to the internal storage yet I now have over 7GB free space.
It's clear TWRP is write protecting the internal storage selectively (first it wrote protected the storage to both the phone and pc, now to the phone only). How should I sort this problem out?
I have also just tried using root explorer to change permissions to the internal storage but it doesn't work. It's failing. Titanium backup shows its own backup folder is unwrittable. It cannot be changed by Root explorer
I just tried fixing permissions in twrp but to no avail. I uninstalled Clean master only to try and re-install it and it won't install now, it gives a failed install error. Kingsoft office continually shows "stopped working" and fails to work completely. All this started with flashing Twrp. I can't view pics in whats app or send them, neither can I edit documents. Any help to rid of this issue will be gladly appreciated.
People please please avoid twrp at all costs!, i have now lost all my data and apps are all failing. I deerly deerly regret why i ever flashed twrp recover in the first place!
I seem to have solved the issue after a very grueling experience.
TWRP has its flaws and it is quite notable here. Here is how I have gotten around the issue:-
Immediately after I installed TWRP I made a system backup of the entire phone as of its state at the time.
I copied it to my pc and tried to delete the backup that TWRP had made. It was completely write protected, nothing could delete it.
I then decided to use TWRP to format my internal storage after backing it up. Then restore the data back which I did successfully.
Little did I know what had happened. TWRP had assigned the internal storage attributes that even Root explorer (paid) could not undo.
The internal storage had become unusable to the system and user apps.
Slowly my apps began to collapse one after the other failing. From frustration I tried to salvage the data the apps held at the time so that I can factory reset and restore but Titanium backup could not access its own folder. That's where all the frustration begun.
I later flashed CWM and accidentally formatted all my data instead of the data partition.. this was now hell.
One last try which was about 5 hours later I returned TWRP recovery, wiped the data partition and got hold of my prior backup with TWRP, restored it and am 9 hrs back from total loss of data. So the internal storage now has its initial attributes prior to the predicament.
Am actually back exactly to where all this mayhem began when I decided to delete the "BACKUPS" folder and there was absolutely nothing else that was wrong, which now I will attempt to delete hoping that I won't experience deja vu.
This is a problem worth reporting to TWRP developers and I don't know how
TWRP recovery Fix Permissions
I couldn't delete back ups from the internal storage at all. I couldn't even copy saved back ups from my pc to my Note 3. I went into TWRP recovery, under Advanced select Fix Permissions
Now I can delete folders in the TWRP main folder with a ES file explorer or on my PC via usb cable.
Never had any problems like this with TWRP on my S4+. For me the backups taken and its folders can be handled just fine, copied, deleted, moved etc. Must be som compatibility issue with your setup.

I was freeing up some space on my OP2 device as it was about 52GB Full of 54GB,
i deleted all not used and temp folders, i also found folder named sdcard and storage in same.
I opened them and both were empty, i deleted them as well and as i did that i got a error that it can not be deleted.
Then i just found that whole data on my cell is deleted, all the files and folders are wiped and those two as well.
Now i am asking that is their any way to recover my data, i.e all images, videos, pdf &docx files etc..
As this device can not be connected as a mass storage so that i can use any software on my pc to do so.
i have tried Disk Digger Pro version as well, but unfortunately no success.
Please guys please help me out to come out of this issue. All suggestions and solutions are welcome.
You can also share any paid add as i can buy it to recover my data, but i really need a helping solution.

It's normal that all your documents, photos, messages, ets, have been deleted, as /sdcard is...your sdcard. And, well, no, I don't think there is any recovery options...
As long as your internal "sdcard" storage is not encrypted you should be able to just factory restore the phone back to full functionality. After that you should be able to connect phone as usb storage device to your PC and use standard undelete software to undelete your files, because factory restore doesn't actually format your internal storage, it only deletes the file index (FAT).

yes, but if he used the wipe function in TWRP, which use mkfs.ext4 (if I remember), do you think there is still a possibility for him to recover his data?
I'm not sure about it. But then again, I'd say that and testdisk/photorec is his last chance of restoring at least photos.
If this doesn't work, I'm afraid anything will work at all..

I upgraded to the latest pure nexus rom last night and decided it's best to do a clean install. So I wiped everything but internal memory. Which only holds twrp backup (10gb) and ti backup (1.3gb) but after install out still shows I'm using almost 40gb on storage. Is there some sort of hidden folder that I'm not seeing that is holding a ton of stuff. I can only account for about less than 30gb being used. 10gb for OS, 10gb backup, and less than 5gb for ti backups and rom zips.
If you didn't wipe your /internal storage it would be logic everything is kept original.
Do a wipe of /internal storage and your storage space will lower.

Right but even looking thru all my folders I don't see where it's adding up to 39gb being used. Only thing I have on it is twrp backup and ti backup and rom zips

It's all cached never downloaded And I wipe cache anytime i flash a rom

Then like I said. Do a internal storage format but do a backup of your TWRP and TI folder on your computer before.
Just a head ups. I always do an advanced format and check everything before doing a clean install. I don't restore/keep my backups. I am the type of guy that starts from scratch to limit the problems.

I've noticed that after copying my internal storage to my computer and then wiping internal storage in twrp it still show over 5.5gig storage used and I ain't talking about system use. When I plug my phone into my pc it shows 5.5gig used internal storage but when selecting all files and show properties only totals to less the 5meg. Now that's after performing an internal storage wipe in twrp.
I had experienced the same kind of issue on my tablet external storage. Sd was showing 8gig of 16gig used and when I plug that sd into my pc it would show the same. But after doing the select all files/properties it would show a total of less then 3gig. I moved all files to my pc, now showing over 5gig used but the SD is empty(no hidden files). Format my SD, now showing completely emplty, move my files back to SD, plug into tablet. Now showing less the 3gig used .
Obviously some lost/invisible data hiding somewhere that a quick format could fix but with the 6P you can't perform a true format. Twrp wipe does not format, just wipes.

Um, are you considering that you lose space for the os?
Also that 16gb card is right, you're not gonna get a full 16gb of storage. Most 16's end up being about 14gb after a format
Yes as mentioned in my post multiple time I am not talking about system storage use (OS). Especially when I refer to an external memory experiencing the same issue (completely wipe SD in twrp, plug same SD into PC, showing 5.5 gig still used on empty card, format SD, now showing completely empty on both PC and Android).
Not sure why, but somehow storage space gets lost, hard to explain. One would need to take the time to accurately compare what one has saved on internal storage and the amount Android says is used.
I am just wondering, if it is safe to keep my backup i just made, on my external SD card? Its much bigger than the backups were for my old device, and its kinda taking up the rest of my internal storage right now...
But what i am wondering is if i do transfer it, will twrp see it successfully in recovery mode in case a backup is needed??

Hi there!
I'm on a G900FD with TWRP v3.0.2-1 , but TWRP is mostly universal for this level of modification.
TWRP will initially display only the backups in the default backup location. Backups are stored as a (typically timestamped, though any name will do) folder containing the backup images, a log and a settings file.
TWRP keeps its settings, backups and (maybe) themes in the ./TWRP directory in your internal storage. The settings files ( ./TWRP/.twrps , note the dot before twrps, use ls -a to find it) is always located in here, but the default location for backups can be changed from your internal storage to your external storage via TWRP's GUI.
To change default storage location, follow:
1: Reboot to recovery. Enter encryption pattern/PIN/passphrase if needed.
2: Tap Mount, then tap Select Storage. Note at the top of the screen, under the Mount title, is something akin to EMMC or Internal Storage or Internal, you get the idea. This will change in the following steps.
3: Tap the radio button of the storage you want to default to in the popup that appears, then press OK.
4: Verify that the display now reads SD card, External Storage, whatever.
5: Under Home > Backup, the Storage: line should now read External/ SD Card / whatever, instead of the Internal Storage variant.
6: Optional: Make a backup, just to see where it says the backup location is in the log.
To reverse modification, follow instruction again.
Do note that failure to provide the SD card, or failure to mount it, will result in TWRP defaulting back to internal storage, which may fail due to lack of space. Not a problem for me ( 128G SD card represent ), but something to think about.
To transfer the backup from the internal storage to the external, reboot back to Android, and use a file manager to move the entirety of the BACKUPS folder from INTERNAL/TWRP to EXTERNAL/TWRP . Without more information about your build, I can't provide paths to follow, but mine would be:
Internal Location: /storage/emulated/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/(SERIAL NUMBER)/(TIMESTAMP_OF_BACKUP)
External Location: /storage/(SDCARD GIBBERISH)/TWRP/BACKUPS/(SERIAL NUMBER)/(TIMESTAMP_OF_BACKUP)
Note that TWRP will require that each backup is located in the same directory as the serial number of your phone, so i.e. mine must be in:
/storage/98A4-1D0F/TWRP/BACKUPS/e6209199/2016-08-03--21-16-31
for a backup made on the 3rd of August, 2016 at 9:16:31 UTC.

I am on lineage-16.0-20190918-nightly-klte-signed + open_gapps-arm-9.0-mini-20190921, it is a fresh install.
I have downloaded WhatsApp App from Google Play and I was prompted to recover my backup from Google Drive, when I click OK I get:
Not enough space
Couldn't restore messages. Free up 465MB of space on your phone's internal storage to restore.
Obviously, I have more than 11GB available in the internal storage and an almost empty SanDisk SD Card 32GB.
Now, I cannot find anywhere a solution for this issue.
Also, I copied both my 'Phone' and 'Card' folders on my PC (in addition to the GoogleDrive backup) before upgrading to Lineage, I see in both folders a 'WhatsApp' folder with 'backups' + 'database' + 'media' subfolders.
If I cannot restore the backup from Google Drive, how could I restore the same from my PC?
I tried to move the Whatsapp folder to my SD Card, but it does not look like it is enough to see the content in WhatsApp.

I think I know why it does not restore my backup, I have realized that the 'Internal Shared Storage' is not accessible, let me explain...
In my S5, if I go to Storage >> Device Storage - I see 5.24GB used of 16.00 GB - however, if I take a screenshot and try to save it, I get:
can't save screenshot due to limited storage space
This is probably the reason why I get issues to restore my whatsapp backup.
If I connect the phone to my PC, I can see the Internal Shared Storage folder icon, but there is no value, I should see 5.24GB used of 16.00 GB - in fact I cannot save anything on it from my PC either.
How do I resolve this issue?
