Anyway to get Google Photos app to think my Pixel 4 is Pixel 3 (unlimited backup)? - Google Pixel 4 Questions & Answers

So currently still have my pixel 3XL and I'm transferring photos from my Pixel 4 to my Pixel 3 so that I can utilize them limited original size back up and it still seems to be working despite the fact that pictures were taken with my pixel 4.
So is there anyway, while I'm rooted, to potentially have Google photos on my Pixel 4 think it's a pixel 3 XL so that can continue to use young limited original size backup?
Just wondering?

Nothing?
I still have my Pixel 3 on me.

Says in the security bulletin that the battery drain issue is fixed on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. No mention of the Pixel/Pixel XL.

The issue tracker referenced in the link and some comments on Reddit shows the bug isn't exclusive to the Pixel 2 devices.

Like with most Google "fixes": YMMV. The unfortunate part is some people are reporting it isn't fixed even with the April update on the 2nd gen Pixels (see here). Ultimately, it's up to your own experience whether or not you were affected or if you still are affected post-update on your device.

I'm using swift black fine after April update. I did a clean flash and just automatically downloaded from Google play and set up as normal
Hello,
I wanted to create a thread, but I hope this will fit here:
I'm on 8.1 rooted with magisk, stock recovery. Want to update to the said April patch, but to no avail. Just says " installation failed" (when trying to do that via settings).
Should I flash stock boot image, since I guess, Magisk tempers with it a bit and then I should be able to update normally?
And if the update is successful, does anyone had problems installing Magisk on April patch?
Cheers.
OTA Installation Tips
I'm still running 8.0. Can I still update to this removing the -w flag to keep my data and using Magisk 16.2 and TWRP 3.2.1.2 ? Thanks for any advice.

Yes, in terms of compatibility everything should be ok. I always update security patches updates with this method, but since 8.0 - 8.1 are not very different should work too with no problem.

On my pixel I have everything you wrote except twrp (because I boot it everytime, I don't need it to be installed).
I never touched the other partition, I just did this:
1- flash factory image (with wipe because I wanted a clean start)
2- boot twrp img
3- flash magisk and/or kernel
4- reboot
5- in magisk download xposed systemless
6- reboot
Nothing else. Very simple.
I heard twrp had some problems, for this reason I didn't flash the zip.
If you feel lucky or you know that twrp has no more problems, I think you have to flash it after boot the twrp img, and also after the magisk zip.

Yeah thank you very much for your time
But you didn't mention how to install ota !
Do you think that flashing stock boot.img and installing ota image will work ?
I said flashing boot.img bcs i know that there's no recovery partition , and i have twrp installed . And i think it's installed in boot.img

Boot img should be good enough, but I mentioned factory image because it's better than ota when you keep flash things (at least for me)

Pixel 3xl IS 95% Pixel 2xl (photos)

Assuming (and we all are almost certain now) that the leaked images of pixel 3xl are right, and assuming the Chinese manufacturers who started making screen protectors and cases for the P3XL are accurate, i wanted to see how bad the notch could be in real life, and compare sizes with P2xl, so i bought one of the Chinese screen protectors for p3xl and started comparing it to my P2xl.
I can confidentially say that P3xl is 95% or more in size with P2xl, to a level that we can say ITS a P2xl with a screen stretched up around the notch..
You can see in the attached photos, putting the P3xl screen protector over the P2xl screen, the notch is as deep as the top bezel of P2xl, and the bottom bezel is almost identical in each..
Size is also identical, both phones have the same overall size (in screen protector photo over the back of P2xl)
Side bezels are more slimmer for my eyes..
Photos attached should clear everything out..
Thanks for clearing that i dont need to buy pixel 3 this year ?

What he said!!
This is definitely going to be a dud, sticking with the Pixel 2 XL.
My Pixel 3xl is looking more and more like a OnePlus 6t!
Versus the Pixel 2 XL:
-Most likely a very similar LG P-OLED display (but notched): Nothing groundbreaking
-Still 4GB of RAM: So don't expect less app reloads
-Snapdragon 845: Slightly faster than the Snapdragon 835 in real-life usage, probably not even noticeable in most scenarios
-Supports wireless charging: Cool feature but not exactly a game changer (Coming from a Galaxy S7 edge, I don't miss it)
-Smaller battery
The only question mark that remains is the camera: Will it be vastly superior to the already great Pixel 2 XL camera? I have a strange feeling the hardware (sensor, lenses, etc.) will be the same, with only a tweaked camera app (that will be ported for the Pixel 2 XL anyway)
The more I think about it, the more I struggle to understand why the Pixel 3 XL exists.
It exists for OG Pixel owners to upgrade to.

Usually people upgrade every 2 years. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL may not be much better than the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL since they're only a year old, but it's a pretty good upgrade from the original 2 year old Pixel or Pixel XL. Personally I can't wait to get a Pixel 3 XL. It will be a massive upgrade from my dying Nexus 6P.
People ***** and moan about the notch and chin, but I think the Pixel 3 XL is a fine looking device. I guess I'm like one of those parents who thinks their child is adorable even though it's ugly as sin...

Exactly - if you hide the notch via blacking out its "corners", the Pixel 3 XL will look decent - almost like the 2 XL. If there is no default option for this, I'm sure that there will be Substratum overlays to do so.
I won't upgrade my 2 XL this year, this is completely pointless. But if my contract would be due for a new device, I'd definitely get the 3 XL.
The Pixel 3 is simply not worth upgrading from the Pixel 2. We get the camera update, same amount of RAM, the only major change is the processor from 835 to 845. Definitely not worth the money, considering how fast depreciation ocurrs. Most of the High End devices, LGV40, Galaxy S9, Pixel 3, seem to be at a standstill when it comes to any significant upgrades from their successor. The. Previous versions are nearly identical, Qualcomm 835 vs 845 is minimal, camera improvements are insignificant, with possible exception to the LG V40s 5 camera system. Anyone upgrading to latest version from previous versions is wasting money.

Pixel 3 Camera vs Pixel 2 Camera Performance Comparison

I found these really interesting videos on YouTube that do an excellent comparison and the results are surprising to say the least.
Pixel 2 vs Pixel 3:
Pixel 2 camera app vs Pixel 3 camera app (on the pixel 2):
Thoughts?
I don't think there are obvious improvement, pixel 3 is overpriced

Pixel 3 camera vs Pixel 2 camera ( exaclty the same ?)

So this video is the pixel 3 camera APK installed on pixel 2 vs a normal pixel 3.
Apart from the results being exactly the same ( most of them ) my question is... Does that pixel 3 APK will come to our pixel 2 as an official update or we need to install an APK to have it ?
For those who want to see the comparison about pixel 2 with pixel 3 APK camera installed and regular pixel 2 camera I leave the link down below.
Let me know your thoughts and if you think we will have the update of the camera APK or if we need to download it and installed by ourselves.
I've installed it on my 2 XL yesterday.. I will have to get some time with it...

How much can pixel 4’s camera be improved with gcam mod?

Hello
My existing phone has been damaged and I need one to use for a few months.
I am interested in the pixel 4 because it has a telephoto sensor.
I wanted to know with a gcam mod such as bsg, can I match the quality from the pixel 5, I am guessing hdr enhanced works, and can the pixel 3 also match the pixel 5 albeit with longer processing?
Thanks
I have pixel 3 and pixel 4, both have pretty much the same image quality (noise, sharpness), I would say its 5% easier to get more detail out the pixel 3 cuz his aperture is smaller (1.8) but in response to you.. yes you can get better pictures compared to pixel 5 image quality (better than stock pixel 5 thats for sure) but you have to really dig in the libpatcher settings
