I was in your situation. I fixed that by install dex on my pc. I don't know if it will help but I think it's worth a try.

Would anybody care to do a simple test for me? Please..

My Kies will not let me use Samsung Apps not matter the phone is connected or not. I try to reinstall and everything but to no avail.
Launch Kies and hit Samsung Apps button see if you can browse and download as usual and let me know if it works for you please.
Thank you in advance.
Wow.. this amazed me
anybody..? at all? sigh
Works fine for me without the phone connected. It's the first time I used it so I dont know if it is working as it should be, but it did let me download a free app.
Nothing in Kies Samsung Apps for the i9000 anyway. I keep getting a message stating that the phone isn't supported by Samsung Apps.

You are right, I had phone set to 'all'.
I was able to syn my Galaxy S with Kies now though I had the same problem initially....I just unmounted then remounted the internal SD and presto, it connected seamlessly....I already tried it on 2 machines so it should work fine with you as well......
Nope.. Not working on mine.. still getting phone not supported... Tried with the mrs sgs on her laptop and the same. :-(
Thank you guys

i dont know if it will work, it worked one time in my old galaxy s(lost a little importante file in /data/app/data), download and install reccuva(there are other that also may work, recuva glitches some times)and start it, select all files and where you lost you select your phone internal storage(yeah ,it needs to be plugged in the pc) and let it scan,if it dosent find anything, try activating deep scan mode(google it how to activate, i dont use recuva for a long time), and if dat still dosent work you can try another program.

Mount to folder on NAS

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anybody knows a way to map to a folder on my NAS. Specifically what I would like to do is have a folder somewhere on my Nexus Player that is a shortcut to a folder on my NAS. I want applications to be able to access files not located locally on the device.
Even more specifically I am trying to play my nes and snes roms that are located on my NAS. The apps work fine but they can not find files over my network like esfile explorer can for example.
My player is unlocked and rooted.
Thanks,
Rob
Just got it to work with the Lollirock ROM, and i bet thats ur ounly option unless u find a kernel that supports CIFS, dont think the official one does it?
*EDIT* - Oh, ye, right..., found this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...ent/kernel-unleashed-nexus-player-v1-t2977254 , bet that will work to,
i used this app to enter "permissive" mode, i read that u needed it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.selinux
and a modified version of the CIFS Manager 1.5a app found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53760495&postcount=537
to be able to mount my NAS's samba share like:
192.168.x.x/Download/Games
/mnt/cifs/Games
Thanks!!! will try as soon I as get a chance!!!

Can you let us know which option you went with and how well it worked? I'd like to do this since Stickmount isn't working out well for me.
Thanks
OK I just want to first say THANK YOU!!!!!
Now I will try and tell you all that I did. I have done so many things I am not sure exactly what combination of things worked. I will tell you that you definitely need to be rooted and you also need the modified cifs app as previously mentioned. I also installed the kernel that supports cifs as mentioned. as far as permissive mode goes I do not have the app mentioned but I do believe I did this manually through a terminal. this may or may not persist without editing some file I am not sure? I hope this was at least some help. Thanks again!
and just to add a short rant... Why is this not a normal part of android!!!!! especially the nexus player! A device that they want you to connect to your tv and with this basic feature could make it a fully functional htpc. WTF google!!!!

I am with you on that. However, if they added all of those features, it'll introduce too many variables for them to work with when troubleshooting. I think that's what it comes down to

[Q] Mac User - Android File Transfer not recognizing S7 edge

I must be doing something stupid, but no matter what combination of options I user in Developer Options and USB transfer type, AFT does not recognize the device and asked to restart or reattach. What am I missing? Thanks in advance. p.s. I made the switch from an iPhone and have forgotten most of the Android stuff I knew several years ago.

It unfortunately does not work.
Download Smart Switch from here: http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/assets/downloads/SmartSwitch_Mac_setup.dmg
Once it has been downloaded, it will tell you to unlock your phone and connect it.
Once that has been done, click the down arrow beside "Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge"; You will see a folder beside Internal Memory, so click on that folder, and from here, it will look similar to Android File Transfer.
You should be able to drag and drop files into the folders, create new folders, move sh*t around, etc.
Thanks. I'll give it a shot. When I first used the other day I didn't see the file transfer capability, only the basic backup and restore functions.

Yeah unfortunately this is the only way I found to do it on a Mac.
Mac and Android don't really go well together
Worked perfectly. Too bad AFT doesn't work. I assume Google will update to support this phone. Again, thanks.
But Smart Switch is painfully slow in file transfer. There has got to be a way to get AFT working again. Mine just stopped, and when connecting the device, USB debugging on or off, the phone does not ask me if I want to allow the file transfer. I think mine stopped working after installing SideSync, and I never had Kies installed so that solution does not apply. This should not be rocket science!

I can't download/write a file larger than 2Gb (HELP pls)

Hi folks,
I think few people have already experienced that but I literraly can't download single file over 2Gb which is really annoying.
Ofc I've already performed a full wipe, cleaned everything, reinstall OS with stock firmware. I also tried to switch from official Oxygen OS to Open beta but nothing works.
The only thing I didn't tried is to format storage into f2fs (i'm actually in ext4)
But 1- I don't think it'll work because I didn't have any problem in ext4
2 - I can't install any OS after it's formated (I get error 7) even if I know how I could get rid of this error.
Moreover, I can't use any OTG stuff and I think it's linked cuz this issue appeared at the same time (or my OTG cable is maybe dead lol)
If anyone has an idea it'd be really great.
I'm facing this issue for weeks now and because it's very uncommon, no one try to help me...
Download using Android Download Manager and you are good to go
Hey. Finally I found a solution.
I have no issue with chrome 68 and the new download manager.
However, I don't understand why I was facing this problem with old chrome versions.
And unfortunately my OTG cable still not work

Oh well, I never faced this issue with chrome before but it's fixed anyway.
Yes my phone is rooted. I'm using OOS Open Beta 15, but even when I was on official OOS, it didnt work... I also tried to wipe + reinstall the firmware, but even with OOS Nougat it didnt work...
I wonder if it's an encryption issue
it's google. they've crippled android more each version out of contempt for power users. Anyone paying attention can easily see that their actions are not aligned with their supposed philosophy they like to brag on. If they spent half as much time on quality control as they do on platform control, then they might have something besides borked ux. Even their stock rom is useless

Wow I didn't notice that. To be honnest, I try to get rid of those google ****s. I deleted chrome because of my issue and installed Kiwi browser.
However, as far as I see, no one is facing this OTG issue...
I'll maybe give up and just use my computer for the transfers between my usb stick and my phone
