Android File System Doesn't Show up - Moto G7 Questions & Answers

Hi All,
I have an issue and im stuck. I have an SD inserted and used as internal, however the Android internal file system does not show up in the File Explorer apps or in Linux Mint when connected with USB. All that shows up is the SD CARD in both scenarios when browsing the File System on the mobile or through USB.
Moto G7 XT-1962-4 rooted
Latest Security patch manually flashed with fastboot
Any help would be much appreciated

What about Settings > Storage? Is internal storage show up there?

[Q] Deleted /storage folder in Android File Transfer

When using the Android File Transfer app on my Mac, I saw this folder named "storage" which doesn't have much in it and so I decided to delete it, which wasn't a good choice as I found out everything in the internal storage was wiped.
Is there any chance of getting the lost files back?
Now whenever I connect my phone to Mac Android file transfer app doesn't show up the internal storage folder anymore.
Panicking.
Help!!! Anyone?
Nexus 4 on PA 3.1
It's gone now. You'll need to restore the factory image to get the internal data in order and then re-root/setup the phone

reported internal storage confusion

hi folks,
can anyone explain to me how the the available internal memory is reported in settings->storage on the i9505? mine seems pretty nonsensical.
its reported as follows:
total space 9.25gb
applications 1.74gb
pictures videos 12.54mb
audio 240kb
downloads 20mb
miscellaneous 435mb
available 2.32gb
furthermore, es file explorer is reporting that 6.92gb out of 9.25gb available memory is used, which matches the 2.32gb available reported in settings->storage.
so where is the remaining 4.7gb??!?
i used the sd card analyser in es file explorer to see what's going on and where the data is but adding up all the data there does not account for the missing 4.7gb??
any clues?

Hi,
Have you perhaps made a nandroid backup which saved to your internal memory?
hi malybru. no - i've done nandroid to extSdCard. if i had mistakenly done it to internal, the data would show up in the clockworkmod folder anyway, which it doesn't.
i have flashed to official BTU roms from odin, without wipe, and rooted afterwards each time. could this have anything to do with it?
when i attach the phone to my windows laptop and examine the internal memory in windows explorer, under properties the phone memory is saying 6.92gb used out of 9.25, yet when i select all the files and go to properties, it only adds up to 500-500mb?!?

Hi,
I use a great app from the market, called "FX File Explorer"
It has a "View " button at the bottom of the page which will show you a breakdown of the data on your phone.
Click it when you are in your Main Storage.
It might help to locate some stuff that should not be there.
If not,it's still a great app to have.
yes es file explorer has the same thing. there's no sign anywhere of the missing 4.7gb data! all the files add up to about 600mb.
i still have no clue about this. how about if i backup all the files, reformat internal storage in recovery, copy files back?
i had this problem before.. then i checked data/media.. there should only be 3 folders there which are: 0, legacy and obb.. move every other folder to 0.. hope this helps..

[Q] sdcard read only from PC

This was a bit unexpected. Lollipop is supposed to make using SDCARD (in this case there is NO sdcard) more sensible.
However now I can't copy any files to Nexus in MTP mode. I can do that in P2P mode but only to the picture folders. Any suggestions on that? Selinux setting?
And, yes, I did try making a new folder but no joy. I also noticed I can't see app-specific folders such as titaniumbackup.

I just upgraded my N10 to Lollipop yesterday. I'm rooted, have SELinux Mode Changer (set to permissive mode) and have USB OTG Helper [root]https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.shajul.usbotg&hl=en installed. That gives me full unfettered RW access to my OTG SDCard reader. USB OTG Helper expands the number of SDCard file formats that Android supports. I have mine formatted to ext4 to remove the 2GB file limit but thats just my requirement. I used ES File Explorer to access the SDCard and move/copy files, although I'm sure many other file managers would have worked.
I hope that info helps.
It's not an actual SDCARD but the internal emulated sdcard which is being difficult.

I am in the same boat. I want to restore some apps I backed up in 4.4.4 and lollipop won't read the backup folders in the root directory. I can see and access them via pc, but not through Android. I tried using Titanium & MyBack Up Pro w/ SU access. No dice. Like you, I also tried moving the folders to my Desktop and back. Renaming, creating new folders, etc..., doesn't help.
I can't work around the issue. My current thinking is that we are dealing with a security feature. It seems like all my 4.4.4 folders with user info in them are walled off.
Grrrrr

Recovery Data From Internal Memory

Hello. After from some mistake, I formatted my internal storage via twrp. Now I want to recover the data which I had. The bad is that the device is connected to pc as MTP & NOT as Mass Storage so that to use some data recovery to get the lost data. I tried MTPdrive which is to convert the mtp to mass storage but not any result. I tried Mobisaver (Easeus) which is for recovering data from internal drive but appears the message error that can't get the root previlidges even if my mobile is recognised as rooted. Also I used the dr fone recovery but for similar reason with above it can't scann deep my device. The only solution which I have found but it is difficult to try it because it needs unix commands so that to get the internal storage as raw image & after to convert the raw to vhd & after to mount it as drive so that to been scanned via data recovery like recuva which is given in here : https://howtorecover.me/data-recovery-internal-storage-android-phone-guide#raw or similar : https://roubert.name/joakim/androidfilerecovery/
The bad is that in these methods the unix commands are unclear & the most times you will get some error in the running of commands or the instructions will be unclear. Also I tried Partitions backup (apk) which can dump the internal as raw but althought has the option to save the dump image to external storage, it saves only to internal which is irrational because my internal storage is 64 Gb & can't be saved all this as img file to my internal due to low capacity & for some unknown reason the external storage save can not be selected. Does it exist some way to get the lost data back of internal storage or to connect my Mi A1 as mass storage or to dump my internal storage as raw ? Thanks.

Anyway, how to dump my entire internal storage as raw file ?
I followed this method and I was able to successfully dump my phone internal storage data into raw. But please be aware that successful recovery of your data from the dump file is not quaranteed.
Please read carefully the instructions and always make a backup before u proceed.

In the beginning writes "This method does not seem to work on newer phones that apply TRIM or some other type of partition clearing implementation. If anyone has recovered their data on a device newer than Android 4.3 please pm me and let me know." Does it mean that it is for older mobiles or you did it for Mi A1 with android 8.1 ?
hi ,
my mobile switch off mi redmi 5 pro note internal storage how to recovery

Internal storage folder?

I have redmi 3s with fork LOS 17.1,
Have flashed numeral custom roms, at some point i noticed that there is no internal storage on file manager or on pc when i connect it via usb, just sdcard.
In screenshot you can see the file managers folder tree.
Did i do something wrong through recovery or thats the way it should be?
Update, i installed ex file explorer n it show's sdcard as internal storage, no real internal though.
I guess i setup sdcard as internal (adapted) storage... Can i change that? And will i be able to use sdcard for installing apps after that? I will change rom to dot os 5.1.3 soon.
