Is a dirty flash possible over pie roms? Im using viper os. Clean install is a real pain.

OK, so I tried 3 of the Android 10 ports despite all the Developer and vendor fuss going on and found this one to be the one which I would use as my daily driver because it has got custom features which I most likely use in my routine and it is super stable so far. Other ports are bare-bones and I wanted a custom ROM which this one is.
Here is my installation process for people wondering about and what I experienced with this port so far:
I was already on F2FS with my favorite Bootleggers 4.3 without encryption. Hence, I wiped everything excluding internal/external storage and installed the ROM without root as well as GApps which were already included. TWRP told that their is no OS installed so cannot boot. I reinstalled the ROM but same error popped up. I then installed Magisk 19.4 and the ROM booted.
The ROM was working OK besides, it was killing System UI when trying to switch on WiFi and phone lagged when trying to go into About phone or some random option. Magisk was not giving root permissions as well so I installed Opengapps nano BETA for Android 10 and Magisk-debug.zip available inside Magisk_files-canary.zip. There has been no lag since then and root is working well; Treble check fails though. Now, I have my favorite Magisk modules installed as well as all my favorite apps and data was restored with Titanium backup within minutes. I charged my phone before coming to office and found that fast charging is not working but I will use this ROM to see if it is persistent. However, it is a super stable Android 10 with all the things working including GCam 7, GPS, deep sleep and custom features which I use.
Most importantly, I did't miss my alarm today just like few days ago :victory:

Is the back gesture working on this ports? I won't switch from aex pie until q roms with enforcing selinux, also I don't want magisk.

Back gesture like swipe from left and right?
It is working because it is part of the system not launcher so it will work when you enable navigation bar. I have not enabled it right now as full screen navigation looks too good with FP gestures. You can enable it by adding following line in build.prop:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Reboot after saving build.prop and you will have navigation bar.

That is a fine argument you got there. However, I tested that SELinux Switcher working so you can switch it permissive or enforcing. And I uninstalled Magisk to see if system boots and yes, it boots and my banking app doesn't say that my phone is either rooted or jailbroken.
So, you just install this ROM, install opengapps nano beta for Android 10 and root it with Debug-Magisk. Install latest apk of SELinux Switcher, give it root permission, switch ROM to enforcing and then uninstall Magisk from recovery. It might work for you

Two nights and 2 deep sleeps. It's good actually but I had a couple of random reboots with bootloops too which were corrected through clearing cache and dalvic cache. What should be the issue @degrus?

for me i dont have this bootloop, only some some freeze in the first boot, force reboot will solve the problem

yes, but buggy when change overlay state that you need to force reboot your device.
just in case, maybe some ppl don't know how to apply substratum themes on most custom Oreo roms.
here the steps.
1. Download substratum from Google Playstore.
2. Download any theme substratum on Google Playstore (Make sure its compatible with Oreo 8.1)
3. Open substratum and you will see theme that you've installed before then select and "build & enable" it.
4. Reboot your device.
5. after boot completed, open substratum again and select "manager". You will see everlay not enabled (with orange text).
6. select all overlay that you want then select "change overlay states" . your systemUI will restart.
if you facing blank screen after step 6, don't panic! you just need force reboot your device by pressing and holding power button until your device rebooted.
Don't forget to backup your important data first.

I can only say that Omni is way more customizable, smoother user experience and over all have smoother feeling in it. You can try both and decide what's better for you. As for me I'll stick with Omni course there's no better rom out there for me. And I tried them all.

Good battery life and less battery drain at idle.

Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
- Backup your personal data (Important)
- Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
- Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
- Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
- Flash the ROM + Gapps Zipfile.
- Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
- Reboot your device.
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every update (= ROM Update)

Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine

I included my own battery focused HMP kernel ( EAS wasn't 100% stable for me )
It was smooth for me but however give me feedback about battery life and performance so i will be able to improve them if needed

You always have to do full wipe before switching to another rom even if its the same android version.
and newest firmware should work just fine

MI5s Plus Natrium devices : syberia_natrium-v2.0-20181119-1435-OFFICIAL.zip
I have problem:
1.Game Gyroscope + Cpu z sensors (all) not working.
2.CPU throttling test : Instead of interrupting the gradual speed to be tested, the large core falls directly to 1 and closes. The test continues as 3 cores. (Generally good)

Well all sensors are working as you can see on my screenshot
You have to do full wipe before flashing rom otherwise you will face strange errors like that

wipe /system, /data, /cache, and dalvik/art cache. (OK)
-Flash the ROM. (OK)
-Flash any other mods/etc. you want (e.g. GApps, Magisk). (OK)
But the problem continues. :crying:
Edit : Re Flash orginal Xiaomi Miui 10 eu stabil oreo rom All Sensor work fine. Syberia os not works sensors.
My Mi5s plus Global edition 4/64 - 2017-03 Revision.

Can confirm same bug, all my sensors are not working, neither Proximity or light sensor.

Maybe flashing newer firmware will solve this

Weird, i flashed official Global Dev 8.11.15 just before this, fw shoud have updated in the process.
I'll try again later
P.S.: Do you se GAPPS? Because some versions on LOS cause bootloops, maybe they're the problem.

Everything is working as it should on mine. I'm running newest Eu firmware if that makes a difference. Thanks 00day for your hard work this rom is flawless right now and blazing fast.

It seems like a seriously good ROM but sadly it doesn't connect to internet for account addition any solution??
Solved: Used Aroma gApps and it is working perfectly now with all new Pixel goodies. Well done @degrus!

Fingerprint lock cannot be added as the ROM considers FP as back gesture and goes back in menu.

This module is a blessing indeed. I'm currently using it with Syberia 3 and it's totally changed the experience. Phone feels lot snappier and added features of Pixel phones such as wallpaper and smart recents are bonus. I've changed its Pixel launcher though because launcher included in module doesn't have swipe down for notifications feature. So I can now expand notification easily despite using original Pixel launcher :laugh:

You're right. System settings color is pitch black now after switching to dark theme. Without module, it is of dark shade.

I can do that but bugs are few and largely outnumbered by the functionality these ROMs provide. In @degrus ports, all functions work including FP gestures and FP unlock except ION which considers FP as back gesture only. Now, come to bugs.
* First bug is faced when you install ROM and start it without magisk. TWRP will say that there is no OS installed but force start results in initialization of ROM.
* No sound in video recording with stock or Gcam. Third party cameras capture audio.
* All 10 ROMs hang up a little especially while doing setup at start and when you change certain modules and tinkering with fingerprint security. It can only be resolved through force restart by pressing and holding power button.
* ION has a pixel look and functionality but it is scarred by 2 problems. First it doesn't add account, secondly it doesn't add fingerprint security.
No more bugs at all but you may face normal charging speed initially which will get better within couple of days. Deep sleep is great as there is not a single digit drop in battery overnight.
I will recommend Syberia 3 as I have found it to be more functional at the moment. Pixelizer module is an awesome addition too. Launcher q will force close after installing this module so go in settings and change default launcher to Pixel launher.
Aroma GApps work pretty well if you want a Pixel look for your phone.

No problem but be ready to force restart a few times while setting up your phone and remember when FP gestures stop working, you need a force restart because system UI will get stuck and won't reinstate without a restart.

It's a good rum, but not much. You will not enter in the account in any way-the account why still to put Rom GApps, it is necessary to finish it as that to mind. Try to modify this firmware, we will all wait for the update.

I've another trick to make ION OS add account but it's useless at the moment because this Rom doesn't recognize fingerprint for security so you will still uninstall this Rom even after adding account

Double Tap To Wake doesn't work because of Kernel
i believe,when i installed this rom and i found this (AOD) function is already ON without touching anything.
so i think Tap To Wake should be work when we change some value in build prop.
Not only FOD is working perfectly. But maximun brightness issue still remained. (May be Kernel Issue)
The Other Function is working Perfectly

DT2W is working without any issues here
FOD has no brightness issues
The issues you are reporting have not even been experienced by me or my testing team. Apparently, these bugs happen to be on your specific device. Ensure you have installed the rom properly on the right base

Fingerprint issue when AOD is on. It cannot be unlocked from AOD when the device is locked for more than 5 seconds. The backlight does not work and the fingerprint reader does not recognize the fingerprint.

Yeah! Yor right.
But ,when i unlock with FOD, The phone brightness set to meximum for a little second.
it's not a big problem at daytime,at the night its a nightmare.

High brightness issues were a thing when we were using a prebuilt kernel. With OSS, we do not have such an issue anymore. Seems like your specific device has an issue. Can't help you there much. NO FOD BRIGHTNESS ISSUES HERE

-volume steps customization
-clock style customization on AOD
-display weather on AOD above datum
-Face unlock

What stock camera? If you mean the MIUI camera, you have to use stock MIUI for that

Looks cool, but can you add a sony dualsense support? Its supported in android 12, but in your rom dont.
